Stories in which one main character is a slut, an asshole, a hypocrite and a cheater with ZERO redeeming qualities and the other the weak faithful pet who does all the begging and forgiving time and again (for what, exactly?) even though his "mate" is so often crude, rude and cruel to him. And where everything is resolved with one screaming match where ironically, NOTHING is resolved followed by a round of sex.

Really confusing. Frustrating and original. Very original. It would have been a 5 star read if there had been more romance. I powered through the book's 354 pages in just over 12h because I was hooked (!) and all I got were two miserable little kisses at the very end. There were quite a few moments where things were going a little crazy in the book and I just wanted everyone to sit down and talk like civilized, well, monsters, but that didn't happen. I really need a sequel out pronto.

I really liked both main characters and I was rooting for them to beat the baddies and find their place in the new, scary world they'd been dragged into. The story was also very original. It made a nice change to read a fantasy/kinda shifter book that was set in somewhere new and exciting. I look forward to reading more books in the series. ...more
