Not bad, per se, but the story took a lot of short corners, spanning a long period of time and only quickly narrating the naughty bits (which were good!) and the very important plot points.
Tobey wants more in his life than furthering his family's name by becoming a concubine in the King's seraglio, but when King Adam sees him and demands his service, all he can get away with is a grace period of 6 months before he's duty-bound to report for service as the newest of a 16 man harem. Once there, however, his honesty with the King, his good looks, and his natural easiness with the King earn him the favored first concubine position and the King begins to neglect the others' beds. The rest of the seraglio is not happy...
This was still a quick read and though not much to it, it was still pretty enjoyable to read....more

After reading a book that was truly a chore to finish, I needed something safe to read that I knew I already loved. I've been meaning to read this book again since I first finished it last year. In fact, I suspect that I'll read this book many times in the future; I might even invest in a paperback. :)
Most of my feelings are the very same as the first time I read it. I did notice some places where this probably could have used a little work (mostly in the editing and the pacing and use of narration), but the magic of the story outweighs all of those things. I dare you to read this and not want to hug a puppy! Sometimes there is something intangible that brings a story together (even a story like this one that isn't perfect). You can feel this author's emotion in the final chapters. I couldn't do without those chapters, no matter how much they make me cry. Those chapters are what brings the whole story together and offers a new perspective, capitulated by the epilogue that really forces us to consider them as pets. Even though it is a smile-through-the-tears kind of ending, it's still difficult in a totally (view spoiler)[Marley and Me way! (hide spoiler)]

Wow.
This completely bowled me over. And I'm still crying. And it's a happy cry! Though not without a few problems, I was so entranced by this story that I just couldn't put it down and there's no way that I could leave it without a 5 star rating and immediately adding it to my favorites shelf.

There are still the old staples of her books, like giggly emotional twinks and strapping men that can't seem to let their mates walk anywhere, but sometimes I'm in the mood for that. And now, after reading many of Joyee Flynn's books, I know what to expect. Still, this story had more worldbuilding and interesting plot. I'm looking forward to reading Lust & Vamp....more

Not a bad story in all and pretty sexy. For something light, short and really wonderfully raunchy, it hits the spot. Still, its pretty simple and short. The stilted dialogue leaves a lot to be desired and it's ripe with insta-love (though it's a mating book, so for some that might be forgiven). I enjoyed reading it, though, and it was certainly cute, though I really would have loved to know more about the dragon world (the conception and pregnancy stuff is pretty interesting) and more about Gabe's history (with over 800 years of living, there has to be some interesting stories there!).
I'll definitely reading the next installment in the series, Dragon Ours, not only because I liked Todd the Sheriff from this first book and because it's always nice to have a book like this around for when you're in the mood for something light, sweet, and unbearably hot, but because I LOVE stories about quads, and they're rare to find. Probably because if its hard for some readers to imagine a relationship with three, then four is really pushing it. Yet, I still can't help my carnal imagination ;)...more
