Summary: On Earth’s first colonized planet, Keplar, humans survive in the sewers beneath Elite city. Scavenging for food during the day and hiding from the genetically spliced bug-people, Cull, during the night. Her childhood friend proposes to her in front of everyone in the Sanctuary causing her to run from the safety of the sewers, not wanting that life for herself. Trying to save a little boy, they end up hiding in a drain but get captured by beings with masks. Escaping her imprisonment where she was experimented on, she finds herself in a strange city full of androids where she meets Bastion. Can they find the cure in time?
Thoughts: Wow, what a ride! I was hooked right from the beginning and the dangerous world that Ms. McCoy has created. With realistic characters and great attention to detail it was hard to put this book down. I loved Syl, strong yet vulnerable at the same time. She fights for what she believes in without backing down. And the relationship between her and Bastion is so interesting since he is an android, one of the Glitches programmed with empathy. It’s fascinating how Bastion is an android but seems so human. It makes you wonder if it’s just the programming or if it’s more AI like. I very much look forward to book 2!

I could NOT put this down. From page one I was hooked. The powers that Quinn and Lazarus have are what make this a dark fantasy but how they use their powers is not always dark. If you've ever seen the show Lucifer, it's kinda like that. Quinn's power is fear, so she does not fear, but she really is a good person. She doesn't use her powers selfishly or cruelly, she just tries to protect herself. That isn't dark, just her powers. But I'll leave that to you to decide for yourself. This is a must-read, although you might want to wait for the next book to be out... or the whole series to be done. I know I'm chomping at the bit for the next installment and if it's at all like this one I will be begging for the next book as well....more

Another amazing story that gives us so much insight into Quinn. His story is so sad but it explains so much about why he is the way he is. And the in-depth story of Sasha Ivanov, the criminal Dreya and her team are to supposed to catch, just as deep as the rest so his actions make sense even though they aren't the best. It was actually kinda hard to dislike Ivanov, I didn't approve of what he chose to do but I totally understood it. Throw in the doctor that created the serum that changed them and you have a story with twists, turns, and quite the payback at the end.
The story will really make you think twice about judging people based solely on their actions. There are always reasons behind what we choose to do but others don't always see that or know what they are. I could never agree with what Ivanov chose to do but I couldn't help but respect him. His mother sold him to a man that liked pretty boys, so you can only imagine what he went through. He fought for his freedom, and to ensure he was never in that position again, he became a man to fear. The logic behind what he did totally makes sense. Ivanov wanted to make sure he never had to experience that again, but he only thought of himself. He didn't think about the fact that he was doing the exact same things to others that were done to him. There was no compassion, just selfish determination to never be there again. That's where each person is different, some fight for everyone, some only fight for themselves. Which do you want to be?...more

There wasn't that much paranormal in it but I love it! I was kept in the dark for a good part of the story, I knew there was something about Owen but had no clue what it was. Once the story came out it fascinated me. I was left with quite a few questions but so worth the read. The ending was awesome but I won't spoil it....more
Thoughts: Oh my, that was good! The story, the world, and definitely the heat building between Raven and Noah kept me glued to the pages. And the other characters are just as awesome, Sage is pretty badass (hopefully a spin-off? Please?). I don’t even hate the bad guy yet which is weird, but we still don’t even know why he’s doing what’s he’s doing. This definitely is more romance than action, granted there’s a ton of action. But it seems more like it’s just part of the journey of the HEA and I love it. We get both POV’s so we get a deeper understanding of who they are. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Warning, it is a cliffy but damn that was a good story!

Thoughts: A mixture of magic and technology, almost like a virus in the system that’s magic, so very interesting. I like the world and characters. This is definitely a tease as to what is to come and I hope we get more backstory for the characters as the series continues. I didn’t feel as pulled into the story but I do look forward to seeing what happens next. I really want to get to know Michael more and see what might happen between him and Lyla. There seems to be a hint of something there with them, and Michael shows slivers of good book boyfriend material, and you can never have too many lol.
