I'm sorry, but having your child call the women you've known for all of two months his MOTHER is a little wacky. The lightning speed that literally all of the characters in this series move in their relationships is concerning.

RYAN SHAY, THE MAN THAT YOU ARE
Fake dating is one of my favourites tropes, but it's tough to do it well. You need a really solid, believable reason to do it for BOTH characters. This worked for me. I do love me some fake dating to make an ex jealous, and when said ex is a super-fan of your fake famous athlete boyfriend? All the bonus points.
Indy was very one-dimensional in Mile High, so it was nice to see her fleshed out more here, and gosh, did I love getting to know Mr. Shay. Liz Tomforde's writing definitely made major improvements in this book in comparison to Mile High. The spicy scenes are still not it for me, but it's easy to skim them. There were still a lot of other scenes that I thought were silly and I wish had been excluded because it took away from the realism of the book. Sometimes Ryan was a little TOO prefect, and that irks me because although I love a swoony love interest, I still want my characters and the scenes they're in to feel real. But that's why we're at 3.5 stars.
I'm looking forward to learning more about Kai (and his baby son)!...more

I think it was a brilliant, fun, and refreshing way to kick off the story. Our love interest, Justin, was a dream. I especially love his surveys about their dates. I adored the first half or so of the book, but then I felt like it was dragging on and the romance got lost in too much outside drama. ...more

For only 320 pages, this book kinda dragged, but I still enjoyed it as a whole. Better than Meet Me At The Lake, not as good as Every Summer After. Reading Carely Fortune's new releases have become my annual kick-off to the summer season, and I honestly love it. Already looking forward to next year!...more

FUNNY STORY featuring the most wonderful and relatable protagonist, Daphne, and the my dream man, Miles. This was perfection: sweet, charming, and laugh-out loud funny. I have not felt this way about a book in a very long time. My heart is so full. Thank you, Emily Henry. And thank you, Miles (I love you). ...more

This turned out to be so terrible that I am genuinely flabbergasted. The first few chapters were fun, then it became boring, then it was appalling, and then it turned into the most obscenely ridiculous plot I've ever encountered. ...more

I found the world building to be confusing at times, characters needed more development, and certain plot points required more explanation, in my opinion. The dragons banter/dialogue was way too corny. Although a little juvenile and under-developed, the romance was quite fun.
As an aside, this is the first fantasy that I've gotten through in a really long time, and it kinda makes me want to jump back into the genre!! It used to be my favourite, and I've missed it. Despite the long length, I would recommend this book to get you out of a slump - it's fast-paced!...more
