Eighth book in the Demon Slayer Biker Witch paranormal mystery series. There are almost as many novellas in this series as well. You can find the reading order on the author’s website. The books should be read in order.
The Demon Slayer is again fighting for her life against evil with the Biker Witches and family helping. Lizzie has come full circle with family and fighting skills. This latest evil takes all hands on deck. Mostly dark because of the demons. Tense, mystery format with lighter moments provided by Pirate.
I love these continuing stories of the granny aged witches as a motorcycle gang and Lizzie’s success at fighting Demons but mostly inept witch skills. The whole jelly jar spell holder concept makes me want to start collecting them in case someday I have a need.
Excerpt because I love humor more than almost anything else in my reading: “But the second Crazy Frieda’s motorcycle stopped next to me, Pirate leapt out of the sidecar like a dog on fire. “Wow, what a ride!” he said, shaking off in a move that involved his entire body. He turned in a circle. “I broke my new bug-eating record! I love it, they just fly right into your mouth, and you don’t have to chase them or anything!” Pirate was an energetic Jack Russell terrier, mostly white but with a dollop of brown on his back that wound up his neck and over one eye. Ever since I’d come into my powers, I’d been able to speak with my dog. In real sentences. In the beginning, I’d thought my new ability would enable me to at last crack the code on canine thoughts and behaviors. Now, I understood my dog mostly thought about bacon and beef jerky and pretty much any food besides the food I bought for him.” Frieda winked at me and patted her stacked blond hair, miraculously unmussed from her silver and white motorcycle helmet. “I’ll go ahead and get the little baby a snack.” Frieda strolled for the main building, Pirate trotting at her side. “Dog treats,” I called, “you know you want to be a good dog.” “I heard her say hot dog,” Pirate remarked.” Excerpt From What to Expect When Your Demon Slayer is Expecting by Angie Fox This material may be protected by copyright.

Multi-tImmortal Delirium by Carolyn Cross The Immortal series #2. Urban fantasy. Best read in series order as this book starts immediately afterwards. Multi-timelines. Kate West travels to Bavaria Germany to find her brother Ethan. He’s been missing for months and Kate knows it’s time to use her magic abilities to find him. To protect him if she can. But Ethan doesn’t remember Kate. He is a Sensor with great powers and he’s being used in a war between the Alliance and the Dilluvian Order. From current times to Persia in 1522 to 5th century A.D. and back, the forces fight against each other for their version of power and dominance.
Intricate and detailed world building, this second book in the series expands the dynamics almost beyond tracking, with Kate and Ethan as pawns between the divinations. As in any war, casualties are numerous and innocents are lost. Kate is able to find Ethan. But the war rages on. Lorns, Oryx, angels, the Order and so much more. Find the next book in the series, Immortal Destiny to find the answers to the ultimate power of winners and losers.
Too much epic and pointless power grabbing for me. My opinion. But this type of deep fantasy is not my norm. It may be yours....more

At seventeen, and fearing the mysterious influence of Archer, Dani worked with the FBI to stop her mother and crew from using their magic to steal. Ten years later, Dani is forced to go back to her mother’s crew to help her steal a painter of Archer that dates back to 1890. She has questions, but so do all those she betrayed. Why would they work with her again or trust her?
The magical elements are intriguing. Dani can reproduce a masterpiece that will fool the experts. Sunflower, the dog was my favorite character. There are a lot of secondary characters that make up crew with unique abilities as well but needed a list to keep track of everyone. Unfortunately I lost interest at about 25% and it took me a few months to find the time to get back to it. Picking it up again, I was hoping for a unique magical painting switch but the demon manipulation, the FBI, and trying to reflame an old crush felt forced and unfocused for me. This is the second disappointing read for me by this author. With so much new each month, it will probably be my last. The ending is happy and successful.
Redemption’s Edge by Alyssa Day Vampire Motorcycle Club series #3. Conclusion. Paranormal romance. Can be read as a stand-alone. Book #1: Bane’s ChoiceRedemption’s Edge by Alyssa Day Vampire Motorcycle Club series #3. Conclusion. Paranormal romance. Can be read as a stand-alone. Book #1: Bane’s Choice Book #2: Hunter’s Hope
Meara Delacourt is a powerful 300 year old vampire, underestimated by her enemies. She keeps careful control of her emotions because she knows losing it can mean the death of thousands. Edge was a scientist with an orderly mind before he was turned into a vampire. He still doesn’t let emotion in when science can answer the question. He was used in a cruel experiment by the Chamber, the result of which means his head will literally explode if he lets love into his life. Good thing he can control his feelings. Their club of friends are close and all have agreed they must eliminate the threat they all face in the Chamber. It’s a sinister organization of ancient warlocks that have set their plans on control of Savannah. Dane, Edge and Meara help to lead the fight against their potential elimination.
Large cast as all characters from prior books are here to fight the Chamber. Edge has a dark and heartbroken history so won’t let Meara into his heart. He can’t do it again though his lust for her is unending. There is a lot of angst in the story, but there is also lots of love. The prior couples provide a good example of what love can do for them but Edge and Meara are stubborn. There is a lot of steamy chemistry between these two as they can’t keep their minds off the other. The whole goal is an ultimate battle to get rid of the Chamber and Neville, so even during the volleyball games and other entertainment, there is a darkness over the story. There is a lot of world building both in the beginning of the story and throughout the story. I enjoyed the tension, the romance, and the fight for good, as well as having all the full cast of the series involved, but I think the story was a lot longer than it needed to be. A great wrap up conclusion.

Can be read as a stand-alone but to know the characters, and how they can to be, you want to start at the beginning. It’s a fight to live in the pool shed between the hobgoblins that look like gnomes and the pixies. Until two of the garden gnomes end up dead and nothing more than a statue in the garden. As Sam relays the story, necromancer Damian sees the humor but also the problems. Soon enough, Damian and friends end up on the wrong side of the Iron Queen.
Gritty war games and snarky humor, ghosts, travel the fae way, and a reanimated parrot you won’t soon forget. The only thing missing is an index of characters in this full cast novella. I loved where Damian ends up in this one. It’s not a cliffhanger but a typical adventure in this world. Watch and count the chimichangas. ...more

But his training is advance deployment and needs training to stay closer to Bel so his prior lover Garen Dallarosa is borrowed from the Secret Service to train Nico to be a body guard. The three find they work effectively and efficiently together fighting magical problems.
A mage getting a familiar story. But more, the story totally goes off the rails in humor and throw-away comments. I enjoy the heck out this story as humor, puns and ridiculous are totally my jam. The three do a good job of solving problems too with the help of Demon Grandpa. I can’t imagine where this will possible go, but I’m very sure it will be entertaining, romantic, and full of giggles for me. “A coffee offering. All hail the coffee offering.”...more

(Reads as middle grade though the main character is 16.) 1st person. Bryant lives with his mother in New York, goes to a public school and has one friend, Devon. He has a crush on Elizabeth, and is set up with her by his mother during a theater rehearsal, as a math tutor. He is a nerd after all. Malek, a stranger, accepts her mark of a debt when he helps her one night. There is something compelling about him. Everyone is keeping secrets. Because spilling them might also spill blood.
Dark and compelling, the story starts out with Sabine being hunted and that scenario happens over and over. There is a large cast to keep up with as the danger grows and she has to make difficult decisions. Some that are beyond her control.
Cliffhanger as the story continues in the next book. A bright spot: the pixies. ...more

Best read as part of the Warrior’s Hope by Rebecca Zanetti Dark Protectors series #16. Conclusion of the second arc between Vampire’s Faith this book. Best read as part of the series in order. Paranormal romance. Hope Kayrs-Kyllwood has always known that she is the key to a specific destiny. As a prophet she believes her job is to somehow bring the two nations together. Her choice is between duty and love, peace and war, with the fate of everyone she loves hanging in the balance. Drake is the leader of the Kurjan nation. Hope and Drake have known each other since they were children when Hope was able to create a dream world. He believes that taking Hope as a mate will be the ultimate win for their collective future. Paxton has been Hope’s best friend and protector their whole lives. He will kill and die for her without a second thought. It’s his path. It’s time for Hope to make life altering choices. Can she love one or the other exclusively or can sh bring the warring nations together in peace?
It’s time. Hope feels she must be the link to bring everyone together for the future. She’s the only female vampire ever born. Her bloodline includes demon, vampire, witch and has yet to manifest any powers. She might just have to face the fact that she’s more human than anything else. Hope is caught in the middle between duty and love. Can she turn duty into love? For the good of the Realm and Kurjan nations?
My heart has been bleeding for Hope for years. I was always silently hoping she wouldn’t have to make a choice. Pax is so loyal and protective. And hot! He will do anything for Hope. Beat him up and put him in a cell and his thoughts are “is Hope ok? Did she get a warmer coat? Did someone heal her arm and take her pain away?” I admit the fighting/battle was sometimes a bit too much for me. The drama, and choices, and love were explosive and satisfying. And so heart-clenching! I wasn’t sure what to expect in the conclusion but it doesn’t disappoint in the least. Loved this so much. All the stars.
(So hard to write this without spoilers!)

Ahnjii fell through a gate to Earth where Fae, Nedjir, shifters and other crypids hide in plain site. She has the ability to tell truth from lies and gets a job with a lawyer to help with clients and investigations. A Wight, an old Fae, is enthralling humans, animals and crypids. Ahnjii will use her truthsense and her transformative Nightarmor to help hunt him down.
A lot of world building was needed to craft this story, some of which you get, but it’s obvious there is a lot to learn within this series. Ahnjii is not from Earth and longs to return to her home. Some of her learning is amusing such as her trying to figure out “proper” shoes for court appearances and assuming swimming in the buff is appropriate because it’s similar to bathing. She has made a couple of good friends on Earth which help her learn to blend in but it’s not an easy task, especially with her inbuilt armor and her new pet that is extremely good at camouflage. The book has an overall dark feel with investigating killings, continuous threats to Ahnjii, and people in thrall with no hope of ever going back to normal.

This story opens with Tori and Apollo waking up after a night of sex in his hotel room immediately after the end of the previous book. Tori has wings now and has a lot to figure out. She compares the wings to John Travolta in the movie Michael. Tori has to save the world. Of course. The battle against the zombies is too close to home and on top of the zombies, she needs to help Nick. A strong heroine fights to save the world against battling gods and zombies. Quite the combination. She does have to reconcile where her relationships are and what needs to be done. It’s a complex world with many layers and twists (zombies?) that centers around Tori though you’d think it should be Apollo. I can’t imagine what comes next since there is one more book in the series. It’s definitely in my tbr because I need to know where this goes. 3.5 ...more
