I enjoyed this. Now that is mentioned, please don’t go into it thinking this is going to be similar to Ali’s previous books.

The slow burn is non existent here. The leads are doing the deed in the first quarter of the book itself. However, the actual feelings take their sweet time to reach their crescendo. The leads have their trauma. Not all of it may appear to be as melodramatic as other books have, but it felt more realistic and understandable. The leads’ histories weren’t created just to be ultimate tears inducing sob stories. The male lead is still tall and big. The heroine is also tall here, but not petite. She was a legit athlete ffs. She is physically strong in her own right.
As usual, STEM leads are the highlight here. And both the characters can actually be seen doing work, and not just standing in a make believe cupcake/book/tea/billionaire store where their main occupations to moon over each other or act like quirky, manic pixies. Do I sound exhausted and annoyed? That’s because I am. This is why I will most likely always appreciate Ali Hazelwood’s books....more
As someone pointed out in the book, it really is deliciously filthy. Like all the books I have read by Ali, this was once again hard to put down. She As someone pointed out in the book, it really is deliciously filthy. Like all the books I have read by Ali, this was once again hard to put down. She creates a detailed lore that makes it seem like werewolves and vampires are really a biological possibility. Well, not the werewolves I guess. I still don’t really understand how can a body physically turn into something completely different. In a matter of seconds too. The romance is very sweet, and typical of Ali’s previous work, the themes remain similar. Male Lead falls in love hard and fast, but tries to be and upstanding man of few words, i.e. he makes up all kinds of reasons not to communicate honestly and clearly with female lead. All for honourable reasons of course. (If it is not clear, I am not a big fan of this behaviour being repetitive, hence the reduction in stars.)
Female Lead is sweet and sassy. She is very capable by herself but loves her big boy male lead being a big boy. She is also, very innocently obtuse towards the male lead’s affection. Despite all the caresses, making out and sex, it is not obvious to her. Sure, the male lead doesn’t communicate clearly, but female lead doesn’t really help the situation either.
This is not to say I didn’t love the book. It was so much fun and I am excited for the continuation of this series. I would love to read it again for the cuteness and romance. WhatI do hope for, is a little bit of change in the romance themes. ...more

Well, for the purposes of this book, it exists.
The usual funny banter between the characters makes this an easy breezy read....more
