L. Shannon ramps up the action in this fast-paced, sensual first installment to the sure-to-be intriguing Division 8 series. Zeven Ways to Kill Your Lover has all the excitement of a blockbuster action film paired with a sexy love story. I admit, I’m a sucker for a reunion romance, and Zeven and Harley’s was truly satisfying. Harley’s reasons for leaving Zeven all those years ago were reasonable, even if I did sympathize with his heartbreak. That the two are meant to be together is never in question. There are still plenty of obstacles, however, that they have to overcome. I wouldn’t dream of spoiling the book by saying what roadblocks are in their path to happily ever after, only that I finished Zeven Ways to Kill Your Lover a well-satisfied reader. I greatly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next Division 8 story.

She’s going to take a lover, even though her heart still aches for the husband that refuses to come to her.
Lucius knows the rumors about his wife are false, so even though he misses her, he won’t give into her demands to come and collect her. But when he hears that she actually intends to take a lover the night of her annual Masquerade Ball, Lucius knows he has to intervene. Will he be able to win back his wife before she turns to another?
I love a good reunion romance and I was delighted with the premise of Forever Again. Matilda Madison delivers one delicious hero in Lucius. Yes, he’s made a mistake in letting an argument and battle of wills keep him from his wife, but Jo is equally responsible for their separation. I started out Forever Again liking Jo, but her likeability sank as the story went on. That she loves her husband and is so lonely she wants to take a lover I understand. The fact that she becomes incredibly uncomfortable but keeps going with her plan (or believes she is – I won’t spoil the story, but is it any surprise that Lucius alters her course)? That made me question her intelligence. It’s hard to be completely satisfied with a romance when you only like one of the protagonists, but even though Forever Again wasn’t for me, I liked Ms. Madison’s writing style enough that I’d give another one of her stories a try.
After escaping a sadistic husband, Beth builds a new life in Florida. She’s frightened of ever being under the control of a man, but at the same time knows she craves being a submissive. Beth tries to solve her problems by picking only the inexperienced Doms at the Shadowlands, an exclusive fetish club, yet those Doms are never able to arouse her. Finally, the owner of the Shadowlands gives her an ultimatum: either take the Dom he assigns her or he’ll cancel her membership. Beth doesn’t want to lose the Shadowlands, so she agrees to the deal. Master Nolan, the Dom assigned to her, is the type of Dom Beth avoids – one that demands she utterly relinquishes control. Master Nolan commands her trust, takes her control, and takes Beth to heights of pleasure she’s never before experienced. The one thing Master Nolan will not accept is lying. And when Beth’s husband finds her, will her chance at happiness be crushed when Master Nolan finds out she’s deceived him?
Cherise Sinclair mixes seriousness, sensuality, and submission in the utterly fantastic Breaking Free. Beth is a heroine who has survived incredible torture at the hands of her husband and has the scars – inside and out – to show for it. She grabbed my heart, not only because of her inner strength, but because she makes mistakes with Nolan that were understandable given her past. Nolan, while outwardly frightening, is a deeply caring soul. He coaxes and commands Beth to trust in him and it’s not an easy job to be her Dom. Still, the two fit one another perfectly and, while filled with bumps, their road to happily ever after is an amazing journey to follow.
Breaking Free is the third book in the amazing Masters of the Shadowlands series. Each story is so different, yet the series as a whole blends together beautifully. Breaking Free can be read as a standalone, but fans of the series will delight in seeing the couples from the first two books (Club Shadowlands and Dark Citadel) again, along with everyone’s favorite club bartender, Master Cullen. As always, I am thrilled with how Ms. Sinclair includes the key concepts of “safe, sane, and consensual” in her books – a touch of realism mixed in with erotic fantasy. I admit, I’m trying to pace myself when it comes to Ms. Sinclair’s books because I fear running out of new things to read before her next story comes out. Still, I loved Breaking Free so much that I couldn’t stop myself from diving into the next Masters of the Shadowlands book, Lean on Me.
Breaking Free is a romance I know I’m going to find myself reading over and over again. Breaking Free is an incredible story; it engaged my emotions, captured my interest, brought a blush to my cheeks, and left me a supremely satisfied reader. Joyfully Recommended!...more
EMT Brian and ER doctor Stephen have been friends for years. When Stephen’s marriage dissolves, Brian offers him his guest room. Brian’s been attracted to Stephen, but even though the sexy doctor is getting divorced, nothing will ever happen because Stephen is straight…or so Brian thought. When Brian learns Stephen is bisexual, his willpower to keep their relationship platonic is tested. But strength of will can only last so long when Brian volunteers to answer any questions Stephen has about exploring his desire for men. Friends soon become lovers, but the question is, will sex turn their friendship to love? Or will it cause their relationship to flatline?
Emergency is a journey of sexual discovery, friendship, and what happens when both those elements meet. Drew Zachary takes two likeable, hardworking, confident men and puts them in a situation which makes their normally easy relationship awkward, all for the benefit of finding love. It was a joy for me to watch Stephen discover what he likes sexually and to see him grow more self-assured in that arena. When it came to Brian, the more sexually experienced (in terms of male/male relationships) of the pair, I enjoyed seeing him not only “help out” Stephen, but take a chance and risk his own heart to move their relationship to the next level.
Emergency is the second City Hospital novel, but each book fully stands on its own (I don’t believe the heroes of the first book are even mentioned). I enjoyed Emergency and look forward to reading more City Hospital stories....more
Zach is enjoying a night out with his boyfriend, Jake, when a stranger slides into his booth at the bar, claiming Zach has something of his. It turns Zach is enjoying a night out with his boyfriend, Jake, when a stranger slides into his booth at the bar, claiming Zach has something of his. It turns out that the “something” is Jake. Zach is horrified to learn Jake has another boyfriend, one that Zach inadvertently played a part in breaking the heart of. He chases after the other man, Nathan, in order to apologize. Neither Zach nor Nathan plan on sparks flying between them. A night of revenge sex leads to an unexpected connection. But can a relationship that has such awkward origins go anywhere? And even if they try to make a go of it, will Jake’s reappearance in their lives destroy what Zach and Nathan have built?
Nine-tenths of the Law is an interesting and somewhat unconventional romance. I admit, I was intrigued by how Zach and Nathan met. That something so rotten could lead to something so beautiful charmed the hell out of me. Zach and Nathan are good men; they just had horrible taste when it came to Jake. I loved watching Zach and Nathan fall for one another. L.A. Witt doesn’t make it easy on them. Jake does his best to break them up and Nathan, scarred by past relationships, doesn’t trust easily. I felt bad that Zach was constantly trying to prove himself trustworthy to Nathan, but at the same time I understood why it was so hard for Nathan to trust. Ms. Witt doesn’t make the obstacles in Zach and Nathan’s romance easy to overcome, but that gives Nine-tenths of the Law a feeling of realism. All in all, I greatly enjoyed Nine-tenths of the Law. It’s sexy, heartbreaking, and an all-around entertaining story.

Then a bad witch hexes her while Willow is on a date with the man who could be “the one” and Willow decides to throw caution to the wind and embrace the darker arts. But before she can go to the dark side, a pair of ghosts offer to show her a taste of what her life would be like as a bad witch. As a bad witch, Willow could have it all – money, power, sex slaves, and more. Yet nothing comes without cost and it’s up to Willow to decide if the price of the dark path is one she’s willing to pay.
Hexes and Halloween spark up the sensual It’s a Wonderful Fright. Willow is the classic good girl whose caring heart has been stomped on one too many times. It’s easy to see why she’d become so frustrated she’d want to go bad, especially when the bad girls seem to have it all. I loved navigating through both Willow’s real life and the darkly erotic alternate universe life she could lead. The path Willow chooses may not be much of a surprise, but the journey is what makes It’s a Wonderful Fright entertaining. Throw in a sexy hero you know is just perfect for Willow, and It’s a Wonderful Fright is frighteningly wonderful indeed!

For Flora Harper, hers becomes particularly embarrassing when she’s transported into the middle of the Gladiators’ locker room. And if it weren’t bad enough that she found herself and her vibrator in the middle the locker room for the pro football team she works for, Flora is caught by Ian Tate, the team’s new quarterback. The sexy footballer is the first man who tempts Flora to go against the team’s non-fraternization policy.
Ian Tate knows that after multiple injuries, his football career is nearing its end. But when he’s transferred to the Gladiators in order to catch a blackmailer, Ian is all-too-happy to take the opportunity. The only part he’s not too thrilled about is that he has to film the person in a sexually compromising position. Things get worse when Ian discovers that the Public Relations exec rumored to be the blackmailer is Flora Harper. Flora calls to Ian in ways he’s never before felt, but can their burgeoning relationship be saved when Flora discovers why Ian was brought on the team?
A very aggravating gift makes for the sexiest of opportunities in this wickedly hot story by Mia Watts. Faery Surprising is an entertaining installment to Ms. Watts’s erotic fractured fairytale series. Flora is quite often all work and no play, so I was eager for Ian to get her to loosen up. As for Ian, he may have been drafted to do some underhanded investigating, but he’s a good man at heart. These two complimented one another perfectly, which is what makes Faery Surprising so enjoyable.
While it’s the second book in the Faerily Imperfect series, Faery Surprising stands on its own. For those who enjoyed the first book, Mind F*cked, you do get to visit with Sage and Joe, which was a treat. And after meeting Flora’s other siblings, I am incredibly eager for their stories. By turns erotic, funny, and romantic, Faery Surprising was a delightful read.

Thinking it’s one of his brothers, Brody calls out, and much to his surprise, it’s not either of his brothers, but his sexy neighbor Lara Jacobs who comes to his rescue. Lara frees him, but Brody can tell something’s off with her. When he finds a pair of racy red underwear that just so happens to match the bra he spotted Lara wearing, it all starts to fall together. Brody might not remember much of their first night together, but he’s bound and determined that the next night will be equally memorable for the both of them. He just has to rope Lara into giving him another chance.
The sex sizzles in Lassoing Lara as two life-long friends find that love has been waiting for them, practically in their own backyard. Brody is a sexy-as-sin writer/cowboy who knows what he wants and goes after it…or rather her. Lara is understandably reticent to give into the temptation that is Brody Courage, given the fact that she’s been in love with him for years and he didn’t even remember at first that they’d had sex. The two of them together heat up the page and entertain with their swift slide from friends to lovers.
Lassoing Lara is the first story I’ve read by N.J. Walters and it stood on its own perfectly well. I did note, however, that one of Brody’s brothers was already married and it took me about ten seconds to discover that J.T. Courage’s story is already out. I’ll definitely be checking out Tempting Tori because Lassoing Lara was fast-moving fun.

Having been raised by a father who was constantly travelling, Eleanor is used to moving about as she pleases. Eleanor sees no need for a chaperone just so she can travel to Scotland to visit her aunt and uncle, even if the chaperone in question is the tempting Gregory Munroe.
Gregory is every bit as determined to escort Eleanor to her aunt and uncle as she is to come and go as she pleases. Their clashing viewpoints turn into an erotic game of one-upmanship. The question is: who will come out on top?
Brazen Behaviour sparkles with its lively heroine and steadfast hero. Saskia Walker delivers an enjoyable Victorian romp with two perfectly suited characters matching wits and falling in love. I adored Eleanor’s spirit; she would do what was needed to prove her point, but not at the expense of someone else. I equally adored the fact that Gregory acknowledged her independence but also made Eleanor see reason when she missed the point every once in a while. Both in bed and out, the two were a dynamic pair, making Brazen Behaviour a delightful story to either read or listen to.

In the wake of her parents’ death, she and her brother, Robert, have almost nothing. When Robert is kidnapped and Chelsea receives a ransom note demanding five hundred pounds, she has no option but to turn to highway robbery. Unfortunately, one of the coaches Chelsea chooses to rob is the wrong one.
Lord Anthony Grenville, Viscount Montrose, is surprised when he and his fiancée are set upon by a highwayman. He’s even more surprised to find that the highwayman is no man at all. When he catches Chelsea thieving again, this time from his home, he offers to help her rescue her brother. He claims he’s helping Chelsea because he’s bored, but what he really wants is the beautiful thief as his mistress.
I was attracted to A Rogue’s Pleasure by its premise and beautiful cover. To my delight, Hope Tarr presented a most entertaining first meeting for its protagonists. How often do you see a Regency heroine robbing the man she’ll eventually fall in love with? Sadly, my pleasure in reading Chelsea and Anthony’s story was short-lived. A Rogue’s Pleasure moved at a slow pace and as much as I wanted to like Chelsea, there were far too many moments in the book where her intelligence seemed to have taken flight just so a certain situation could be set up. Anthony was even harder to like. I understand the plot device of having a hero engaged to one woman and then meeting his heroine. What frustrated me was that he didn’t even seem to feel a hint of guilt (or if he did it was so quickly passed over I took no note of it) over trying to make Chelsea his mistress, all the while not telling her he still intended to marry someone else. To make matters worse, he had an awful habit of making assumptions about Chelsea that had no logical basis that I could see. All in all, A Rogue’s Pleasure was just not the book for me.

One of Carbajal’s midlevel thugs has been seen beating someone nearly to death. The one downside? That witness is now in danger and she just so happens to be Madison Dubois, the sister of Rafe’s best friend and the woman he’s been in love with for more years than he’s willing to admit. Rafe’s determined to keep Madison safe, and she’s not objecting. Close quarters lend themselves to confessions, and some things, like passion, cannot be pushed aside. But their burgeoning relationship may never get off the ground if the men after Madison have anything to say about it.
Danger’s one hell of an aphrodisiac in the sultry Miami Heat. Savannah Stuart cranks up the heat between an endearing hero and heroine who are clearly meant to be together. I love how Rafe cherishes Madison; he’s both caring and seductive when it comes to her and I eagerly read Miami Heat, waiting for her to realize that what they had was more than just a passing fling. Add in a dash of menace from the bad guys for suspense and Miami Heat is one heck of a page-turner (or page-scroller, as the case may be). This is the first story I’ve read by Ms. Stuart and I look forward to reading many, many more.

He must stop a powerfully talented human artist from being used by a demon to create something that can bring forth the most deadly of evils. However, after seeing Psyche, the woman whose life he cannot spare, Alexius knows he cannot go through with his task. Instead, he will do all in his power to protect Psyche from harm. But a romance between angel and human is forbidden and their actions will impact not only their own destiny, but the fate of all of creation.
Enter the world of angels, demons, and art in the evocative Psyche’s Gate. Danielle D. Smith has penned a fantastically vivid tale of good, evil, and everything in between. I admit, I found Psyche’s Gate to be a fascinating read. It’s interesting, frequently dark, and each character is developed with great care. Where the vivacity of Psyche’s Gate fell short was the romance. I absolutely loved Alexius, but I could not help wanting to feel the love grow between he and Psyche a bit more. Still, I admire how Ms. Smith brought the world of Psyche’s Gate to life in such great detail and look forward to reading more of her work.

Hel, the Norse unEvery family has problems, but when it’s a family of gods, things can go from bad to disasters of apocalyptic proportions in minutes.
Hel, the Norse underworld goddess, has just suffered a hostile takeover of her realm by none other than her father, Loki. Hel’s been kicked out of her realm and she has to get it back. Her only ally is her counterpart from a different pantheon, a male she doesn’t trust at all – the devil himself. Lucifer is all-too-happy to help her, but is his claim that he’s doing so because of his feelings for her for real? Hel takes a leap of faith that the master of lies is actually telling the truth and their quest to regain control of her realm makes her see the man behind the name of Satan. Can love happen between members of two very different pantheons? Hel’s determined to find out…if she doesn’t die trying.
It may not be the most elegant thing to say, but I love, love, love Hel Hath No Fury. It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen gods so appealing as Hel and Lucifer. They’re clever, interesting, and surprisingly endearing. Lucifer in particular, as the infamous devil, is nothing like I’d expect. I flat-out adored him. He was darkly seductive, as one might expect the devil to be, but he was also incredibly tender with Hel. There are scenes between them (that are too good to spoil) in which Lucifer just made me melt. Hel, a goddess that I am less familiar with traditional mythology concerning, was a wonderful heroine. She’s a strong goddess, in more ways than one, but there is something about her that I was able to connect with. Hel and Lucifer made a great pair and I every time I read Hel Hath No Fury I read it straight through, unable to stop because I am continually invested not only in their quest for Hel to win back her realm, but in the romance.
Hel Hath No Fury is sexy, fun, and delightfully unique. As it would almost be criminal to include spoilers, I’ll end with saying that Hel Hath No Fury’s storyline is original, the characters are fascinating, and the love scenes are h-o-t HOT. This is the first story I’ve read by K.C. Sehlhorst and I can definitely say it won’t be the last. Joyfully Recommended!

Her persistence has paid off and she has finally located the man she has secretly loved. He’s living on a planet called Earth and all she has to do is convince the slimy acting captain of the Instigator to order Acton’s rescue.
Acton has no memory of his life as captain of the Instigator and no clue that he isn’t human. That doesn’t stop the instant attraction he feels towards the beauty claiming he is a space ship captain. Once aboard the Instigator, however, things start coming back to him, not the least of which are his feelings for Lizbeth. But before Acton and Lizbeth can give into their long-held passion for one another and seize their opportunity to find happiness, they have to uncover a traitor lurking amongst the Instigator’s crew.
I’m not, as a rule, that interested in science fiction, but something about Yes, Captain intrigued me enough to give the story a shot. I’m so glad I did. Rebecca Royce has penned a sensual, entertaining tale with two strong, intelligent protagonists you have to like. I very quickly came to care for both Lizbeth and Acton and wanted to see them make a move to end their years of longing for one another. When they did, it was both sweet and sexy – a true delight. All in all, I adored Yes, Captain and I’m looking forward to reading more of Ms. Royce’s work.

With a business trip scheduled to California during her birthday, Tina decides to take her fantasy into her own hands. She pays for an escort service that will cater to her most secret desire. And when she finds the fantasy ranch and meets her cowboy, Tina knows she’s gotten herself one hell of a birthday present. There’s just one thing she doesn’t know…she’s at the wrong ranch and the delicious cowboy who captivates her is not an escort.
Who could resist a gorgeous cowboy with a body to die for as a birthday present? You’ve got to admire a woman who will take her destiny into her own hands and go for what she wants, which is exactly what Tina does in Happy Birthday to Me. While Megan Rose plays with the classic story of mistaken identities (at least where Tina is concerned), Ms. Rose gives it a sexy new spin. The result? A red-hot romp in the hay that’ll leave you breathless. Happy Birthday to Me is the perfect present you can give to yourself: a deliciously wicked romp that is fast, fun, and wholly entertaining.

The Wager is pure erotic delight. Sadie, Will, Dave, and Tony are all likeable people…er…vampires Ms. Rebel makes you wish you could know in real life. Part of what makes The Wager so appealling is not just the love between Sadie and Will, but the friendship between the four. It comes off the page, giving the story a life and a warmth separate from the heat generated by the fouresome’s passionate encounter.
I listened to The Wager on audio book and found the story worked well in this medium. The narrator’s voice wasn’t overblown or exaggerated during the sex scenes, which was important to me, as this book was deeply erotic. I greatly enjoyed The Wager and look forward to listening to Sadie, Will, Tony, and Dave’s adventure again soon.

Dakota Rebel takes the friends-becoming-lovers plot and makes it her own in this fresh, original, erotic vampire tale. Patrick and Kennedy are sexy-as-sin men and the chemistry between them is explosive. I don’t want to spoil the story, but I will say I greatly enjoyed the journey to happily ever after for the two heroes. With Raven, I never knew what to expect next and that was a delight for me. When her godfather proposes a marriage between Tessa and Jered, both accept, though for different reasons. For Tessa it’s a dream come true, for Jered a matter of convenience. So imagine Tessa’s surprise when Jered leaves her at his estate and heads back to his rakish existence in London the morning after their wedding. However, Tessa is not about to let Jered stick her in the country while he cavorts about London. She follows her husband to town and begins placing herself directly in his path, whether he likes it or not. Jered’s about to learn what his wife is truly made of.
I enjoy a good battle between the sexes in the name of love. Sadly, just like Tessa’s eventual disillusionment with Jered, I found Upon a Wicked Time to be nothing like I had hoped. I wanted to find something to like about it. Unfortunately, when a hero treats the heroine like utter trash, it’s hard to like their story. Jered is cruel, but not in an inventive way that would at least make him an interesting villain. Rather he’s a brat whose excuses for his behavior are weak and who needs tragedy to make him appreciate what Tessa offers him. It’s one step forward, three steps back with him for the majority of the book and I failed to understand why Tessa was in love with him. She’s a bright, inquisitive heroine whose only fault is loving one such as Jered. Imagine how delightful a romance Upon a Wicked Time would have been were Tessa to have a hero actually worthy of her.
