I’ve read many books COULD NOT FINISHMy rating and opinions are very much different than most. I really tried to like this book, but I just couldn’t. I’ve read many books about Science. I’m 2020 I’ve been concentrating on evolution, both of the Universe and of animals, including humans.
I had a hard time listening to the author as narrator. He sounded pretentious and at times mumbled making it hard to understand.
It seemed that the author had one point which could have been done in one chapter.
I decided to stop reading and leave it unfinished. ...more

The philosophy that gripped Europe revolves around hedonism, enjoyment, sexual and otherwise. I’ve always been interested in the Medieval and Renaissance periods, so in that sense it reinforced what I learned from other books on the topic.
Unfortunately, I wish the text was a bit more exciting. ...more
I thoroughly enjoyed Harari’s first two books, Sapiens and Homo Deus of what I imagine is a trilogy with this book 21 Lesson for the 21st Century beinI thoroughly enjoyed Harari’s first two books, Sapiens and Homo Deus of what I imagine is a trilogy with this book 21 Lesson for the 21st Century being the third.
However, I was disappointed that this book didn’t live up to the high expectations I had. It seemed to me that the author wrote this book, without offering anything new. He wrote these 21 lessons without much science, but rather mostly his opinions about what will happen in this century. The problem is, we are already in the 21st century. Therefore many of his predictions and arguments are a rehash of current events.
I don’t feel as if I learned anything I hadn’t already thought of or read about. Perhaps if I hadn’t read his first two books, I might have rated this book a bit higher. But, I did read those books and can’t help comparing his first two books, which I highly rated, to this book....more
I thought that I would find the book to be too simple; an explanation of why we homosapiens (sapiens means wise) have evolved to what we are today. I’I thought that I would find the book to be too simple; an explanation of why we homosapiens (sapiens means wise) have evolved to what we are today. I’m extremely interested in science, physics, cosmology, evolution, and math. Most of the books I read on these topics requires prior knowledge, or are too basic for my liking.
Sapiens surprised me. I choose to give it a try based on book reviews here and elsewhere, and the fact that it has been on the NY Times bestseller list for quite a long time. It took my getting through the first few chapters to start enjoying the book. But once I did, I couldn’t put it down. It is more than simply the story of our evolution, but included over 70k years of earth’s history. It was written more like a novel, than science. But, maybe it being an easy to read, is what eventually hooked me.
There’s little in the way of scientific evidence to support the author’s theories (much like Malcom Gladwell). However, from a logical standpoint it all makes sense. That’s where the strength of the book Sapiens lies. Now, I look forward to the next book in the author’s series (trilogy, so far). ...more
