I went into this book still mourning Miggy, but also hopeful for Remy and Jamie. And now Toby has gotten mixed up in some rather unsavory things while trying to help his friend Pepper. Wow, what a wild ride this was. We truly come full circle here.
When this series started, neither Remy nor Jamie was fit for a relationship. They both had some stuff to work out and Remy needed to learn how to not run away. They have come so far and they finally get their HEA. But, boy do they have to work for it!
I am smiling.

Wow, that was an amazing end to SPECTR 2! I spent a whole lot of series 2 feeling hella unsettled. I didn't like the secrets nor the deceptions and wanting Barillo to be eaten by Gray was a persistent desire, throughout the series. There was so much uncertainty between Caleb, Gray, and John that I just feel spent.
Shaker of Earth was an exciting read. My heart was shattered by the ending of Breaker of Chains but I was at the edge of my seat watching the events unfold; hoping and trusting that everything would be ok. I can tell you yes, everything works out between Caleb, Grey, and John, but Charleston will never be the same again. I think that holds true for our guys, too. And me, for that matter...

Wow, so what to say about The Queen & the Homo Jock King that hasn't been said! I doubt you'll find much new here, but I can try to Meryl Streep my way through this!!
The Queen & the Homo Jock King is damn funny. No lie -- I started reading this book while walking on my treadmill and could barely get through the Prologue without falling off the damn thing, I was laughing so hard. But did I learn from this? Hell, no. I continued to use my treadmill while reading this book and only by the grace of .. who am I kidding, there was absolutely NO grace involved ... but lots of luck and hitting the stop button, when I was laughing so hard I litterally could not walk at the same time, kept me out of the ER.
Sandy is very high maintenance and is also a master of denial. For years, he has hated Darren, but never told anyone why. The truth is, though, Sandy felt hurt and channelled that hurt into striking out at the Homo Jock King and keeping a wall erected between them. All the while, though, Sandy still wanted him. Everyone except Sandy could see that clear as day!
Everyone can also see how Darren feels about Sandy, except, of course, Sandy. Darren has come to each and every one of Helena's shows. Always there, always watching (in a mostly not creepy way) and pining.
These two, though, are bull headed. Rather than admit their feelings, they circle each other, while tossing barbs meant to hurt and mask.
The story of them getting together is a farce worthy of Shakespeare.
One thing I would have liked more of, though, is Darren. There wasn't enough Darren in The Queen & the Homo Jock King.

I think the thing I like most about Andrew Grey's writing is his ability to write characters that I can easily relate to. These are everyday kinds of people living their lives the best they can. Sometimes they have more challenges than most of us have, but they aren't all super rich, extremely perfect people condescending to spend time with us regular folk.
In this book, Tom is pretty wealthy, but he doesn't really flaunt it. Well aside from the bits with his Ferrari, but he doesn't so much use that to impress as much as it's a fun toy to drive. Greg does pretty well financially, but he isn't super wealthy. He is a single father, which is tough enough, who is trying to simultaneously adjust to his sons blindness and help his son cope as well. That is a lot of challenge and he does so well.
Another winner here. So much heartwarming story. I hope the next book is about Skip.

Well, that was freakin' cute. I was confused by the cover at first, because it looks too contemporary, but worry not. Where Exorcists Cannot Lie is pure magical fantasy set in Kasia Bacon's Order universe.
Tazãr is an exorcist working for the Guild of Mages and given his history of falling fast for the wrong people, I feel safe saying he's got horrible taste in men. And when he encounters one Alpha Demon who has clearly left a long line of broken hearts and pissed off ex's, it feels inevitable that his luck isn't about to change now.
Inuel was pretty likable, though, and to be honest, he surprised me a bit. There are some layers behind that cocky AF exterior. Plus, no one can be all bad when they cuddle a kitten. Am I right?
I never read the original novela, but I can definitely say I thoroughly enjoyed the expanded Where Exorcists Cannot Lie. It's sweet and a little spicy, and definitely hit all the cute notes, with a touch of snark. A win.

Ok, now that was fun. Marc, an absolute asshole of a higher demon, and Ian, a demon hunter, catch some feelings. And... there is no stupid manufactured melodrama, no martyrdom, no making decisions for other people 'for their own good'. My god, it was refreshing.
That isn't to say there weren't relationship challenges. A demon and a demon hunter? Yeah, there are enough challenges with the pairing itself that extra bullshit really didn't need to be added.
Suffice it to say that Higher Demon was a highly enjoyable read. I enjoyed the way Marc and Ian played off one another and their chemistry worked for me, too. Looking forward to book 2!...more

I can hardly believe we finally got this book! Was it worth the long wait? Yep! I did do a reread of books 1 & 2, and I'm glad I did because while I remembered the more major events, more or less, I didn't remember a lot of detail. Plus, I wanted to reimmerse myself in this universe. It was no hardship to get to know Parker and Adam again.
Defy the Future picks up two or three years after Parker and Adam make it to Salvation Island and things are going well for them. Parker is still pretty untrusting of new folks, and who could blame him, but he's come a long way and he's super protective of those he considers family. Adam and Parker are so solid and I'm glad that hasn't changed and isn't even in question through this book. It's also good to see that teenagers still do supremely stupid and impulsive things in the aftermath of the zombie apocolypse.
While I do find myself with a couple niggles, I really enjoyed Defy the Future and I finally feel like the story ends at a really good place with at least some optimism for the future of humanity and werewolves, at least in some pockets....more
