This was a very raw, emotional, and inspiring read for me. I too have an addiction to alcohol. When I am severely stressed or feel an immense amount of anxiety and panic, I will sometimes think after a particularly stressful day, "Man, I really need a drink."
Vargas did not hold back. She is completely honest with herself and her struggle with alcoholism in this tell-all memoir. I found it extremely heartfelt and helpful.
Her story is very relatable and I would recommend this book to people struggling with alcoholism. ...more

First let me start by saying that I will pretty much read anything that Jennifer E. Smith writes, but I was weary of this book for a long time and therefore held off reading it.
I read the description for this book awhile ago, and while the other book's descriptions grabbed my attention and were all read and rated solid 4 stars this one from the very beginning made me have reservations.
This book is unlike the other books I have read by this author.
The beginning was too short.
Gayle Forman wrote a whole book on one night in New York. I was expecting a little more than two chapters for these characters to fall madly in love. I think as a reader I would need that to believe that their love was real and could withstand this type of distance.
Jennifer E Smith also wrote a whole book on two characters who fall madly in love within a 24 hour period just by sharing seats on a plane.
The love between Owen and Lucy was too forced and not really believable in this book. I wanted more. I needed to know what made these two characters drawn to each other that no other person could fill the void of their absence and I didn't get that with just those two chapters.
Overall, I feel like if the beginning was written better maybe I would believe in these character's love....more
