Sadly disappointed with this. I really wanted to love this book. Before We Were Strangers was just so beautifully written. I had high hopes this book would be written the same way, unfortunately, I was sadly mistaken.
For the life of me I couldn't understand the plot of the story. That was my biggest issue. Was it that Lucian was dying for being in love with a mortal? Was it the whole God concept. Was it the whole good vs. evil? Or was there simply no plot and just a handful of all three of those ideas?
I wouldn't recommend this book to an atheist. There's a lot of God talk and the guardian angel theme is very strong. Its not written like a YA Fantasy book about Nephilim.
Also, the insta-love was too much. I'm usually a fan of those but this one just didn't click with me. The characters didn't click together. The character plotting just didn't flow. Also, the MC felt very two dimensional. She wasn't interesting.
I liked the alternating POVs. I love those in books. I just wish the character plotting was a little better put together....more

This is my first Jennifer E. Smith book and I'm always hesitant when trying a new author's book, but I was surprised by how much I loved the story. I only had a few problems with the writing style and that's why I didn't give this book a full 5 stars.
Plot Summary:
Hadley is dreading her Father's wedding to a woman she has never met before. In all the chaos, she misses her flight by a mere 4 minutes, but Fate had other plans for her. She meets a boy in the airport that also sits in her row and its love at first sight for them.
They then embark on a 24 hour adventure of chance meetings as Fate forces them together again and again.
My Reaction:
To be honest, I thought this was a fun and cute little read. The book had likable characters and the story line was light and fluffy. The only problem I had were the constant flashbacks. If you're not a fan of obsessive flashbacks then this book isn't for you. I also had a problem with the third person POV. In some parts it felt forced. Otherwise, the book was good.
Overall, I will be reading other books by this author....more

Let me first start with how much I love the cover! Its perfect and shows how much Rose and Dimitri's relationship has intensified throughout these last three books.
Next, I would like to comment on how amazing the graphics are! They fit the characters' description perfectly. Rose is curvy and in this book she is pictured exactly as such. Lissa is petite and is pictured as such. Dimitri has long hair with a muscular build and is pictured as such. Every character follows Richelle Mead's description.
The graphics are also well designed and are highly developed. Its colored throughout the whole book. I really liked that. They're cut up into frames just like any graphic novel would be.
I also really loved how perfectly this graphic novel followed the book. Everything was exact--no added or missing things. Its basically a summary or short story out-lining the book in pictures and dialogue. Its great for kids who can't quite grasp reading a full length novel.
Overall, I would recommend this to the younger kids--middle grade, or anyone who likes graphic novels....more

Random Person:What's you're favorite book series? Me:The Embrace Series. You have to read it!
I waited a long time to read this. I didn't want this series to be over. I am saddened with grief that it now is all over. Although, this series could not have had a more perfect ending.
I can't remember the last time I binge-read a novel. I sat down to read a few chapters yesterday and it got so good I ended up staying up to midnight reading the whole book.
Plot Summary:
Violet is a Rogue Grigori. She left her soul mate and is living with a shattered soul. She returns exiles and fights just to stay alive. Knowing that somewhere Lincoln is alive and well is all she needs to keep living and not give into the coldness.
When Spence is taken by an Exiled Angel of Light, Violet wastes no time in returning to NY to rescue the guy who has always had her back knowing full well that the man she left behind will be there.
In all the chaos and drama, they defeat the Angel. Violet and Lincoln are alright again. They rescue Spence. Violet finds out who her angel maker is. All the Grigori vote Violet as their leader. And all is well again.
My Reaction:
The way Shirvington perfectly ties in biblical things without forcing religion down the reader's throat is amazing. She stands neutral and allows the reader to have their own opinions on God. She simply just tells the story from a character that doesn't even believe herself.
Violet is an example of a strong female heroine. In every book she has taken a stand and fought til death on some occasions. She is a leader and someone that people look up to. Maybe that's why I loved this book series so much. Because I had a strong female lead to root for.
The anguish in the beginning was too much! So many feels! But in the end, as always, Violet and Lincoln work things out and their soul-bond is back in tact. The only one who didn't win was Phoenix.
I also loved all the suspense and action in every chapter. It kept me engaged until the very end. Every book had that and all around this is just an amazing book series!
Overall, I would recommend this book series to anyone. I loved it and I'm extremely sad its all over....more
