Fairytales have their own magical quality to them and when re-imagined, no matter how well, it just does not appeal to me as much.
Plus my love for the television show of Beauty and the Beast overshadowed my appreciation for this story from page one on, unfortunately for me as it was quite well put together.

With unforeseen tragedy at the end and a dratted cliffhanger the book obviously leads into another but in many ways was fun reading despite both of these.

The word "sanctuary" has multiple meanings, including a sacred place, a place of safety, or a refuge for wildlife.
In this story
My Thoughts
The word "sanctuary" has multiple meanings, including a sacred place, a place of safety, or a refuge for wildlife.
In this story the word has been used by a teen boy who is being hunted down in the beginning of the book.
What happens once he is under the protection of Roman is quite a bit more than he anticipated but exactly what fans of magic and mythology waited for.
Unlike many other fans who follow the authors blog I did not read the serialized version but instead opted to wait.
While it has been forever since being introduced to the Black Volhv, seen by many as a minor character now given the leading role for his own series’, I feel Roman has proven himself able to transition from one to the other.
Like it or not when we are given the gift of reading about a character’s past and how they have grown into an adult whose reputation does not begin to live up to their actual capabilities, one dives right in.
Filled with bursts of action, a lot of lore and some of the oddest assortments of creatures that were also given Sanctuary by Roman over the years he has lived out in his current home.
Very short but lots of information to digest while waiting to see where the authors take us next in this series.

Not a book or series to watch for those who are faint of heart.
Fortunately I am one whose upbringing believes that sometimes evil must be fought with no holds barred and no boundaries against using whatever means at your disposal to win.
Not a popular opinion in our current world I know but a realistic one nonetheless.
James Reece lost so many people and his methods of retribution brought no one back to him that is true but it did serve a purpose in the end.
Starting book 2 next and like book 1 also plan on watching Amazon Prime adaptation when it airs....more

Special Agent Michael Walker and ASAC Gina Delgado of the FBI find themselves embroiled in more than they signed on far as thin
My Thoughts
Special Agent Michael Walker and ASAC Gina Delgado of the FBI find themselves embroiled in more than they signed on far as things escalate over the course of this story.
There is a complexity mixed with simplicity when reading this book as you need to tune out the sheer overload of alphabet soup agencies and law enforcement involved within the ongoing investigations that take up large chunks of your reading time.
I did like how the short chapters gave us information involving each monuments historical backstory, liked the way Delgado and Walkers’ characters played to their individual strengths as well as how they interacted with each other throughout the book.
For me almost the entire time feelings of intensity almost became too much before an actual explosive, then almost anticlimactic ending, brought this particular phase of authors story arc to a close.
