I’m going to start off by mentioning the writing style - third person present - because I feel like this is what’s going to put people off and I hope my review explains why it’s the perfect choice for this book.
Aiden has had a tough life and as a result his walls are sky high. He barely has room in his heart for his brother and his brother’s boyfriend, no one else has a chance. So when said brother’s best friend Liam starts showing interest Aiden can only believe this is a friends with benefits situation. However, since this is told third person present, we the readers know that Liam is smitten from the start.
It’s heartbreaking to read how little Aiden values himself and though he grows to really care for Liam he still thinks this is just a hookup since in his mind Liam deserves better. Again, because we see the truth and because we know what’s coming it hurt so much.
The growth here (primarily on Aiden’s side) is just so emotional and perfect. I felt everything and when Liam was trying to make him understand his feelings I cried so hard. I think about these two every day since I finished and I don’t see that stopping. Liam, patient, kind Liam is definitely an ultimate book boyfriend and I want to wrap Aiden up in a blanket and cuddle him forever. The ending was so perfect for them and I’m so excited to see what Maya does next!

I’ve likened it to Riley Nash’s Hold Me Under for a few reasons: sports, childhood trauma/parental abuse, found family, but mostly the I love you flaws and all/ just let me love you vibes and the overall feeling I had when reading both (I appreciate this is very specific but it brought out similar emotions for me).

Classic nerd/jock setup - the jock needs tutoring desperately to keep his spot on the team and the nerd is so booked up that he’s going to require something more than just money to secure his time.
In this case, Sawyer the hockey team’s goalie needs tutoring in physics and Noah is pretty much a physics genius. Noah is terrible at relationships though and wants to lose his V-card so he agrees to tutor Sawyer in exchange for lessons on how to pick up guys.
This was such an enjoyable read and I can definitely see myself rereading time and time again. Sawyer falls first, he falls harder, and every time he tries to coach Noah to do something differently to be sexier he mentally kicks himself because he thinks Noah is perfect. *swoon*

First off: 10,000⭐️ for enby and ace rep. The author pulled from their own experience and it showed. I loved the quiet intimacy and domestic bliss Elliot and Travis fell into.
However. This book suffered from too many moving parts. Initially Travis wants a roommate so he can save money to finish renovations on his house - this plot line gets completely abandoned until the last 5% or so. Then there’s fake dating with Elliot going to Travis’s sister’s wedding. The fact that their sisters are/were best friends wasn’t well fleshed out so it was confusing that Elliot was surprised their sister was a bridesmaid. Then there’s only one bed. Elliot also likes wearing makeup and lingerie so that’s another theme that gets explored. And it felt like time was spent explaining that Travis only went into construction to make his dad proud and he felt like he couldn’t pursue cooking but at the end he’s happy with his decision and thinks he wouldn’t like cooking if it was a job vs a hobby. Idk stuff like that felt confusing to me and without the excellent rep this would’ve been rated lower. ...more
