Reading/rereading for a group buddy read and this book wasn't there when I first read book 1, Halfway to the Grave. As much as I loved Cat's point of view in this story, I give the edge to Bones. Great book. Great series. Highly recommended to fans of paranormal romance....more

This is the one fans have been waiting for! Gavin and Chloe have been dancing around each other for some time (well...technically Gavin doesn't dance, but you know what I mean). Touching, feeling, desiring . . . but not partaking! Is this finally their time? Or will Gavin & Chloe AND readers be left frustrated and waiting?
The Devil and The Dancer is a novella, book 2.5 in the Elemental Legacy series, and finally . . . FINALLY readers learn what's going down (cough!choke!) between Gavin, a wind vampire, and Chloe, a human dancer. There's no way to say more without spoiling this short on pages but heavy on feelings story. I highly recommend you read the preceding books first to meet this couple and set the stage. I promise you won't regret it!
Hunter packs a lot of story into this novella as the emotional turmoil and sexual tension threaten to erupt, burning up the pages. It's decision time for these characters . . . do they cut and run or stay and play? While the main story centers around this couple's relationship, other fan favorites like Geo & Beatrice appear as part of the support cast. I really enjoyed the character development woven into this story. As always, Hunter excels at setting the scene, drawing readers in, and delivering the whole package - all wrapped up in a pretty bow and dynamite cover. Open this one and you'll find lots of witty banter, sexual tension, and heartfelt emotions tucked inside. Another fantastic Must Read in this outstanding series! *With many thanks to the author for an arc of this book. **Reviewed at Cross My Heart Reviews...more

Ward didThere's nothing better than reading a new release from an author you can count on to deliver her/his best every single time! And deliver J.R. Ward did! Blood Truth features BDB trainee Boone's heartfelt, suspenseful story, and it's a thriller and love story all rolled into one. I devoured this book almost in one sitting because I couldn't stop reading. Ward weaves a complex plot, rich in details and high on suspense and then tugs on readers heartstrings by raising the stakes for some of our favorite characters. Plot, setting, character development - it's all here! Blood Truth is a fantastic read and an absolute must for fans of the series, suspense thrillers, and paranormal romance....more
As a Black Dagger Brotherhood fan, I’m game for anything that resides in the same world. And as I read the opening pages of Prisoner of Night, I knew As a Black Dagger Brotherhood fan, I’m game for anything that resides in the same world. And as I read the opening pages of Prisoner of Night, I knew I was going to be consumed alive by another dark, raw, compelling story by the master J.R. Ward. Once I began, the outside world ceased to exist for me until I read the final page of this novella – one that reads with the depth of plot and fully-explored characterizations of a full-length book.
Ahmare is on a mission to free her brother from the horrors of evil warlord Chalen’s dungeon. She does the unthinkable in order to fulfill the terms of Chalen’s agreement only to be told it’s not enough to settle her brother’s debt. Chalen charges her with one final challenge - to find and bring back his beloved. Duran has been held captive and brutally tortured in the same dungeon as Admare’s brother for 21 years. Admare and Duran must work together to retrieve the object of Chalen’s desire. It is through their journey and intimate talks together that we learn the depth of both their sad pasts. Duran’s is especially tragic, and my heart bled on the pages as he opened his to Admare. He’s on a mission for revenge while she’s focused on freeing her brother. Is it possible for both to achieve their goal without hurting the other?
There’s no easing into Prisoner of Night as the action is immediate and ongoing in this raw, gutsy novella. The contrasts between good and evil, love and hate, forgiveness and revenge are clearly defined and thought-provoking. All of it swirling together swept me up in a whirlwind of emotion that had me fighting tears as the outcome is unclear until the very end. Prisoner of Night is another knockout in this fantastic series. And I suspect we haven’t heard the last from this couple, along with some outstanding support characters like Shadow Nexi (I hope!). A raw, gritty, Must Read addition to the Black Dagger Brotherhood world! I loved it!

Another fang*tastic read in the Black Dagger Legacy series as well as the Black Dagger Brotherhood world overall! Loved every single minute of it! A sAnother fang*tastic read in the Black Dagger Legacy series as well as the Black Dagger Brotherhood world overall! Loved every single minute of it! A soulful, yearning, tormented vibe permeates Blood Fury as characters grieve unrequited love, even as they shore up their walls and vow to never trust their heart to anyone again . . . their bodies, yes . . . their hearts & souls, no. As always, Ward flawlessly manipulates characters and their destinies while weaving multiple plotlines as masterfully as an orchestra conductor. The life she breathes into these characters and settings is truly amazing - so emotional, so heartfelt, so real that I lived every single moment with them.
I'm not going to rehash the storylines here. If you've read the series, you know the players, their circumstances, and what's at stake. If you haven't read them, I highly recommend you start at the beginning and buckle up for the ride. It's bumpy, addictive, and highly explosive, but worth every single minute. I love the intermingling of characters between the BDB and BDL series. It's a great opportunity for a sneak peek into the daily lives of favorite BDB characters as they guide and teach the trainees in the BDL books. The best of both worlds!
Blood Fury is an emotional, fast-paced story that is guaranteed to break your heart and then put it all back together better than new. Two different couples find their destiny in this one, but the road to happy-ever-after is never smooth. Fans have long-awaited Saxton's happy-ever-after, and Ward does not disappoint. I'd be remiss if I didn't say it involves some of the hottest scenes in the BDB world. Holy Moly! Intense! Again, I'm not discussing specifics so readers can take that ride first-hand. Like Saxton, Peyton's journey involves unrequited love and a surprising discovery. I must confess that I wasn't a huge fan of Peyton after the first two Legacy books as he came off as arrogant and superficial, but with the unmasking of hearts and souls that occurs in Blood Fury, my opinion has drastically changed. I'm now a believer. And be forewarned - Peyton also plays a starring role in some scorching hot scenes!
For this reader, the magic that is Black Dagger Brotherhood/Legacy continues! May it never end! Blood Fury is another Page-Burning, Must Read in this world!

Emotionally charged from cover to cover, it packs a whole lot of story into a short amount of pages. Tissues are definitely needed for this brief trek into the Black Dagger Brotherhood world. While the main characters are not well-known to BDB fans, Ivie (a nurse at Havers' clinic) and Silas (an aristocrat with a deadly secret) quickly step into starring roles as two vampires from two different worlds who are highly attracted to one another. And the journey begins!
As a huge fan of the series, I sat glued to the pages and read Dearest Ivie in one sitting. The story quickly grabbed my attention, snared my heart, and evoked a range of uncontrollable feelings - eventually bringing me to tears. I love Ivie's wit, snarky humor, and honesty as well as her unfiltered tongue. She brings a spark of color into this sometimes gray world. And Silas - what can I say about a dream-come-true hero like Silas . . . that he's a swoon-worthy romantic? Oh, he is that! He's chilvarous, noble, honorable, but also mysterious. Ward does a fantastic job of drawing readers right into the heart & soul of these two characters. And, she surrounds them with a diverse support cast featuring a few regulars from the BDB world as well as some new, intriguing characters that I hope to see more of. Add an emotion laden, heart-touching (if slightfully predictable) plotline, and this is another winner in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series!
