According to my 2020 summary page, I averaged 3.9 our of 5 stars. So I will round this up to a 4 star year - that is pretty good!
Because I started working from home in March, I also started walking and reading every day at lunch. Not only did this help me get in better shape, the volume of audiobooks I consumed went through the roof. As I will likely be working from home permanently now, I expect this trend to continue.
Also, because I was listening to so many books, I discovered the joys of Audible in 2020.
In the past, I have done a summary list under a variety of categories for my year in review. I will continue that format this year:
Sticking with the format I have used for previous "years in review" - seems to get the info across in a pretty decent and concise manner!

Goodreads tells me my average rating for 2019 is 3.9 - down 0.2 from last year - so rounding that to a tentative 4 stars. The first 2/3 of the year went well for reading. The last 1/3 has felt very chaotic. Not that the reading wasn't great when I got to it, it was just a matter of finding time for it!
I had fewer 5 and 4 star books than last year. Lots more 3 star books - which is why it is a tentative 4 star merely based on the final average. Felt like closer to a 3 star year!
But, only one 1 star book this year - that is pretty good!
Goodreads tells me my average rating for 2018 is 4.1, so rounding that to a solid 4 stars. It was a great year for reading and it was the most 5 star Goodreads tells me my average rating for 2018 is 4.1, so rounding that to a solid 4 stars. It was a great year for reading and it was the most 5 star books I have had in a year since joining GR in 2012.
It was also the year I became the social media/Goodreads pariah because of my controversial feelings about a book. More on that below!
Here is the basic breakdown:

- many of you know there is a lot of backstory behind the response to my review of this book. This is the review that lost me friends, caused me to be told I am an awful person, etc. But I did also have some great and insightful discussion. In the end, it's just a book I didn't care for. If you don't agree, that's fine!😃 Let's move on in 2019.
I just realized I never did a 2014 year in review. As I prepare to do my 2017 year in review, here is a look back on 2014.

Only my second full year on Goodreads. I only give it 4 starts because I didn't have a whole lot of 5 star reads that year. But, I was also lucky that I didn't have any 1 star reads!
Below is a format I started with my 2016 review and I like the general visualization it gives.

This is in addition to 2014 that I did yesterday and 2016 that I did on time last year!
2015 was the year I blew the lid off my reading amount. I increased my count by over 30 books over 2014. It was my first full year where I always had an audiobook going (which definitely helped my count).
Another year without any 1 star reads, but many 5 stars and predominately 4 stars. Because of this, I give the year 4.5 stars - and I round it up to 5!

I have to give this 5 stars, because any year that I have done some reading is a good year!

I will finish with between 115 and 120 books - that is about the same as last year. I like to get a good consistent number. If my reading had been way down I would have been bummed out!
I enjoyed participating in my bookclubs and making lots of new friends on Goodreads. Most other social media is petty and full of anger and trolls. I feel like in this day and age it is important to have a happy place where we can all connect and get along. This was my place for that in 2016!...more
