I was looking forward to reading this book since I believe in soulmates and being with the person you're meant to be. I didn't really expect that the person Chloe falls for would be HIM. (I'm not saying who to avoid spoilers.) I was very much surprised to find out he has captured her heart.
I gave it two stars because all the book talked about was their time in a "runaway-vacation" sort of thing. They barely talked about their problems, there was barely any conclusion everything was in loose ends. There was no closure with Chloe's 'ex-fiance' though I understand it'd be too early for that but it would've been good to put him back in the picture for a while and learn how he's doing. All the other characters are in the dark regarding to Chloe's activities and it didn't seem like they (Chloe and runaway partner) were planning to tell them. I wanted more to happen. More with the people who surround our runaway partners but in the end they acted like nothing else matters. I kept two stars for the steamy scenes of course, there were a lot of them. Considering Chloe's small problem in bed, she'd want to go all out with the man who's finally for her.
Unless there'd be a sequel, I wouldn't be satisfied with the entirety of the story.

Really dark and mysterious with a hint of romance. This series has me checking my calendar every other day to see when the next book is coming out.

Not every sin is bad.

How far are you willing to go to protect your own? This book is a great sequel to the first one, Lust. Where Lust was seeing The Elite as how an outsider who knows they exist and seeking them out, Pride is through the eyes of someone who has no idea what it’s all about and is being forced into their world.
Pride is more than the first of the seven deadly sins; it is itself the essence of all sin. -- John Scott
How deep does one’s pride go? No matter how difficult life has become for our main character he isn’t willing to give up one cage for an even bigger one because it would mean shaking the hand of the devil.
My heart does that girly little flippy thing at the way his stare penetrates down at me. He’s not just looking at me, he’s staring through me, to the deepest parts of my soul.
Full of twists and turns and there are lesser theories for each sinner than there are questions for the rest of the series. The pacing is not too fast and not too slow and it’s just enough to tell the story in the right way. That new cliffhanger though was so exciting. There really isn’t much happy ever afters in this series.
He makes me want so many things, it scares me.

Mason Blackwell / Pride
Mason is such a strong character. He has lived a portion of his life getting physically tortured every day and has stood on the edge of death more times than he bothers to remember. Despite it all, he has risen again and determined to get his life back in track.
She was this sweet professor who had this secret craving for being bad. And I wanted to be her enabler.
Megan Thorne
I can totally relate to Megan’s character. She’s such an angel in the streets but a total little devil in the sheets. She loves her job but like everyone else, she just wants to be happy and to have someone to share it with.
Her smile suddenly warms a dormant part of me that’s been cold and shut off.

Wonderfully written. I mostly love how the two lovebirds met because as ordinary as it was, while I read the scenes all I felt was epic. Besides the romance, there were the mysteries hanging on every corner of the room on the air that our characters walked around on.
“You listen here, you sick, disgusting, waste of a life.”

I was expecting to see that one girl again but I guess it turns out she was just a person in the past, irrelevant to the present.
Given the chance, anyone would shame another to rise above.
This series has got me hooked. I just want to dive into their world and discover all The Elite’s secrets. Who else is a member? Who has all the cards? Can’t wait for all the revelations in the upcoming books. Wrath is up next and I am ready for all the chaos!...more

This new dark, super exclusive club being presented is very intriguing and I am determined to see it through all 7 books.

Lust is a violent desire, destructive and uncontrollable. If you let the sensation take root, you become captive to its power, until you’re waking up in the wreckage of its path.
P L O T
He’s always had his eye on The Elite for a while now because it’s his ticket way out but to get in there is a price to pay. The Elite works mysteriously and an outsider standing at the door would be left to wonder if anything related to the club is accidental or incidental.
Sacrifice. That’s when you know you love someone, when you’re willing to give up something you want for something you need.
I must say this mysterious club peaked my interest and how the people in their town may or may not know of their existence. I cannot wait to learn more about the club in the upcoming books.
I did not see that plot twist coming, but I knew something big was going to happen.
Grief is a fickle whore. It hits me in waves, reminding me whenever I try to forget.
I can just tell it’ll get darker and darker as each Elite member takes center stage and I can’t wait when plot lines intertwine with the others.

Rhett Masters Lust fits him well with his history of women and charming his way into and out of things. His character is quiet admirable because he has his reasons for wanting to join The Elite and he has a strong sense of determination.
There are seven of The Elites and I still haven’t memorized their names and their assigned sins.
It’s two people sharing pain, learning to live through it, and finding a connection to help us keep living, keep breathing, keep standing, one foot in front of the other, until it stops hurting.

Ker Dukey once again graced us with an emotional and slightly dark read. As always, the author writes books that are easy to read and this was a great start to a new series.
Guilt, rooted all the way to my bone marrow, infects me. It’s like an illness inside me I can’t recover from.
O V E R A L L
I think this series is promising. I did get the theme for this first book but I can’t tell you what it is because it’d spoil a huge chunk of the series plot for you. So if you want to know what it is then you better pick up your copy of Lust now.
Everything fucking hurts. My heart wants to flee, but as punishment for what I’ve done, it can’t escape. It’s trapped inside me to suffer in agony.
I am super eager to get my hands on Pride, not only because he’s super mysterious and that is crazy sexy, but that cliffhanger! I get the feeling that these authors are giving us no choice but to look forward for the next book if they keep ending the stories with those kinds of cliffhangers. I’m not complaining though, I love a good cliffhanger....more
