I was born with wealth, athletic ability, and looks that could melt the panties off a nun. I had a clear path to success. Until fate dealt me a cruel blow, leaving me empty and in need of purpose. My only focus now is to become part of The Elite—a secret society in one of the most prestigious colleges in the world.

But everything comes at a price, and with The Elite, you have to earn your place. Lucky for me, being sinful is in my DNA. The only obstacle to full initiation is my task: seduce the un-seducible, the forbidden, and lure her with the sins of the flesh. Easy for a man like me…in theory. She started as my task, but what happens when the lines between lust and love blur, and the need for power rages war with the need for her?

Accept your sin wisely, for the tasks given to earn your place are not for the weak—they’re for The Elite.

This is my life, my chance, my legacy.

I am Rhett Masters.

Quite different than I expected!

I figured with the title, that this book would be highly erotic but it was actually very funny. Rhett and his best Friend Godfrey “God” are pretty normal college Freshmen. Though they are from wealthy families, they have normal teenage issues, some deeper than others. They get high and party and drink themselves stupid at times.

Too many times I’ve woken up in a stranger’s place surrounded by the sin of the night before. I pat my hands over my body. Naked, all except the condom still attached to my now soft dick. Gross. That’s sloppy of me.

Rhett’s brother died in a terrible accident so his family is falling apart, which often happens when a child dies. Rhett blames himself for the accident and wants to get out from under his fathers thumb. He thinks the way to do it is by getting into this secret society called the Elite 7. His initiation task is to seduce the dean’s straight laced daughter and get it in video.

The book is actually pretty realistic for a guy who is a college freshman. He acts so young, but then again he is very young. He is falling in love for the first time and being pretty stupid about it. His Dad is even dumber, having a mid-life crisis. That is hilarious to say the least. Very unexpected but good.

I move closer, then halt. My dad is standing above her, hovering at her head, holding his dick. He begins pissing on her as she pants and rubs it in like its nectar from the gods. What the fucking hell? Gross. He’s always seemed so uptight and vanilla. I can’t un-see this shit. He better not have done this kinky shit to my saint of a mother, the fucking pervert. “I have people coming over, so if you could wrap that up, or at least close a fucking door, that will be great.”

Despite how much I liked this book, I’m not sure if I will read the rest of the series or not, because I really hate evil secret societies. I’m sort of over books about those, but who knows. I don’t want to give away too much but I think the other books will delve deeper into the secret society so I may come back to them if I ever get in the mood for the kind of evil rich entitled Asshats that run secret societies. You know the type...

This was an interesting start to THE ELITE SEVEN series. I'm not a fan of uber whores (paired with almost virginal heroines) and OW stuff in my books anymore. I think it has been done to DEATH at this point, so I can't say I overly enjoyed most of this one. However, I figured going into this series that none of the books would be free of that type of thing, so I can't complain too much. The writing was excellent. It is a relatively short book, so it moves along at a good pace. The plot was interesting in regards to the "secret club" aspect. I never warmed up to Rhett as a hero, or him and Chasity as a couple (although their banter was fun at times). There was just too much OW stuff thrown in for me to feel a connection and his cocky attitude didn't help either. I also feel like their relationship took a HUGE backseat to set up the series. I liked Chasity though. From the little we get of her she was a great heroine. The sex scenes (when we finally get to them) were suitably hot.

description

So yea, as a setup book for the series this worked exceptionally well. However, it completely missed the mark in the relationship department. There was just too much other stuff going on for me to feel like this couple had any real connection at all. Still, I am intrigued enough about the other six guys to continue with the series.

Rhett Masters was the human embodiment of lust. No question. He and his rich bestie lived life in excess - booze, drugs and women. Nothing was too taboo and no risk too high. He wasn't unlike many of his real life teenage counterparts - cocky, arrogant, and with an unhealthy sense of invincibility. What struck me hard about this dude, what allowed me to accept him and all of his flaws, were his reasons. Because really what good is madness if we don't understand it?

Lust is a violent desire, destructive and uncontrollable.

Suffering a great loss, Rhett was a man lost. He was broken and distraught and had to find ways to numb himself just to get some sleep. That is until he meets Chastity, who was able to calm his storm within. Their initial meetings were more inline with enemies-to-lovers and their banter was off the hook. I loved Chastity's spunk and how she tried to give as good as she got. She was a sweetheart without being a pushover and I enjoyed getting to know her through Rhett's eyes. The fact that their relationship was more of a slow build was a bit of a surprise, but she ended up being quite lusty herself.

Lust is a force all its own. It consumes the mind and body, and causes even the most loyal to indulge in its sinful ways.

The Elite Seven is just as it sounds - exclusive. Its members enjoy some sweet perks and Rhett has found a brotherhood among the other inductees. The stage is set and with one heck of a cliffhanger, I'm looking forward to getting to know the other members better.

Whose blood is that?

Pride is next!

Genre: Romantic Suspense
Type: Book 1 of 7 from The Elite Seven series
POV: First Person – Male
Rating:

Rhett Masters’ life seemed perfect on the outside but inside he was roaring to be freed. His escape was in the form of a secret society called The Elite Seven that would set him for life. But in order to become one, candidates had to embrace the sin they were assigned with. For him, lust was a way of life until Chastity Griffin walked into it which could either save him or destroy him.

I’ve always been drawn to the seven deadly sins, so I was excited to start this one especially with the involvement of multiple authors whose works I wanted to try. So far, I’m happy with the direction it’s going.

“My world’s a mess right now, of regret and sorrow.”

One thing I didn’t expect for this one is how emotional it would be. The prologue was gripping and immediately made me cared for Rhett. I liked the contradictions in Chastity’s personality but her character didn’t pull me in as much as his.

Since the sin is lust, I expected this book to be dirtier. I wanted to see the embodiment of the word though his actions instead of just his reputation. I love how this book provided the necessary groundwork that explained the mechanics of The Elite Seven and gave enough glimpse of each candidate. However, at times I felt the couple’s story was slightly neglected.

“Your initiation begins with the bonding of seven. The men in this room are your brothers. The brotherhood of the seven is unbendable. You are no longer one person, you are seven.”

Lust is a story of comradery and sacrifices. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Note: I love God. And no, I don't mean the one people pray to lol!

***3.5 Stars!!!***

I’m still wondering what exactly is the total benefit to being an Elite! I know there is wealth, power, and prestige but I didn’t see a lot of that just yet with the seven that were picked.
I did enjoy this but more towards the second half. I found the first half to be slow and I was constantly waiting for the romance aspect to it. I feel that the romance side of things took the backseat for most of the story. I can excuse that a bit considering this is the first book and we are becoming acquainted with the Elite characters! I’m hoping that the second book will get much more intense!

All in all, this was an ok introductory to what I am hoping will be an amazing series! Fingers crossed!

Thanks Steph for reading this with me. It’s been far too long since we have had a Buddy read together!❤️

★★★ A Blushing Book Review ★★★
Lust by Ker Dukey - The Elite 7 Series

GENRE: Dark Romance
NARRATION: First Person- Rhett’s POV
BOOK DETAILS: Book #1 In the Elite 7 series

The Elite is a secret society with power unimaginable. To be a member, is one of highest honor. Follow their rules and you will have endless: WEALTH, POWER, and FAME. Once you are selected, you must pass initiation. And meet the brotherhood. Your brothers in arms. A bond so lethal it is unbendable and unbreakable. The Seven Sins.

LUST, PRIDE, WRATH, ENVY, GREED, GLUTTONY, SLOTH

Are you ready for initiation?

THE STORY IN A NUTSHELL :
This is LUST: Book#1 in the Elite 7 Series :

Lust is a force all its own. It consumes the mind and body and causes even the most loyal to indulge in its sinful ways.

description

Rhett Masters suffered a big loss in his family that set him on a path of booze, sex and self-destruction. His only goal is to become part of the Elite 7, a secret society of specially chosen college students to join a brotherhood. Each potential elite is set a task in the initiation process to secure their place they must complete the task.

Chastity Griffin is the daughter to the dean of the college and Rhett’s initiation task. The more he gets to know Chastity, the harder the set task becomes.

Being selected in the Elite is all he has ever wanted but how far is he willing to go to get in?

description

MY THOUGHTS:
What a great start to this series. I am so intrigued with mysteriousness surrounding the Elite 7. Although we are given some details throughout, it is not fully disclosed and has left me itching for answers.

Rhett's a very troubled character, a traumatic event has steered his less than clean life into further turmoil. His story is heartbreaking and therefore making his bad boy ways more redeemable.

Chastity is sweet and innocent on the outside but has a sultry centre, because we dont get to hear her POV I found it difficult to connect with her.

The story wasn’t as long or as dark as I would have liked, but as expected from Ker it was gritty and addictive. There is a twist towards the end that caught me by surprise and I certainly am looking forward to the next book in the series. Pride

Favorite Quotes:

Her eyes take in every part of my face before dipping low to my crotch. “Tempting, but I’ll pass. I already had Vienna sausage for lunch. One’s enough for any lifetime.”

My Review:

I struggled with this one as I could only find one likable character through most of the story, yet I was intrigued and couldn’t put my Kindle down. I despised the main character of Rhett, as he was arrogant, irresponsible, spoiled and just vile, as was his friend. I hissed at his duplicitous, contemptible, and supercilious inner musings, yet I couldn’t stop reading. Man, if this overindulged, crass, and entitled wastrel was one of the best the school had to offer I don’t want to contemplate what the rest look like… But yet, I was also perplexingly involved in this despicable story and consumed with an intrusive interest. Curses! A pox on the wily minx known as Ker Dukey for her wickedly addictive arrangements of words. Her sinister word skills were like sharp talons deeply embedding themselves into my gray matter and prickling my curiosity. I was physically unable to put my Kindle down, and in a near frenzy, I devoured this twisted tale to the very last page. It was not my fault - Ker Dukey’s word voodoo was far too strong. Resistance was futile…

People say love is powerful, and that's true, but more often than not, it's corrupted by lust.

lust teaser

Rhett Masters' heart was broken for the loss of his sibling.  He blames himself every day and the guilt just don't let him be free.  He finds a secret society called The Elite Seven which he hopes will provide him the freedom he seeks.

I'm drowning, but with a smile on my face knowing I can't be saved.

Chastity Griffin came to Rhett's life exactly when he needed her.  She wasn't lusting over him right away like the rest of the girls and that pick on Rhett's interest.  He soon found out she was going to be hard to forget.

The way she makes me feel is so unlike me, yet I don't want to pull away from it - I want to run toward it full force.

I honestly wasn't excepting to feel so much on this book, I loved all the feels this book delivered.  We get to feel Rhett's raw emotions and how deep his grief went.  The chemistry between him and Chastity was on point, their slow burn relationship was super hot.

Lust is the first book in the Elite Seven series which introduces us to the necessary background of the story that explained the ways of The Elite Seven and gave enough glimpse of each selected member.  Even though Rhett was such a great character, I couldn't helped but love his best friend God even more, his character intrigues me.  I am definitely excited for more of the series and find out how this all turns out.

Title: Lust ( The Elite Seven #1)
Author: Ker Dukey

50807015_2249275145285415_8695318366295949312_n

This is the first book in The Elite Seven series and my second book written by this author.
The Elite Seven is definitely one of the series I am most excited about this summer.
Truth be told, when I heard about this series I was super pumped. I mean, come on! A book on the seven deathly sins? I'm on it!

Lust by Ker Dukey is the first book in the series and for me, it was a good starting point.
The entire book felt more like a introduction to the series, as in, it focused more on The Elite Club rather than the characters relationship per se.
And I say 'relationship' because this is suppose to be a romance novel but truth be told, the 'relationship' aspect of the book was kind of lukewarm.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed the book because this book has gotten me really excited about the rest of the series.
Let's see what PRIDE has in stored for us. shall we?

***4 "Lustful" stars***

“Lust is a force all its own. It consumes the mind and body, and causes even the most loyal to indulge in its sinful ways...
Lust is a violent desire, destructive and uncontrollable. If you let the sensation take root, you become captive to its power, until you’re waking up in the wreckage of its path.”

It's really impressive that these seven books will be written by different authors when they are following the same story, but from different POVs!!! I'm sooo impressive and i can't wait for the next book and Pride's story!!! There's definitely meat in there!!! And in everyone's story, i suppose!!!
I can't wait!!!! I'm soooo exciting about this series!!!!
But let me stick to this one, at the moment...

Well, Rhett Masters is a rich boy to whom had happened something bad that fell his family apart... Rhett is feeling responsible and he can't forget... It doesn't help that his parents are walking away from him , in a way...
Rhett is struggling with booze, drugs, meaningless sex and whatever else to dull the pain...
His relationship with his father is restricted and Rhett wants to get away under his thumb and to earn his own way to life... And to succeed it, he must get into The Elite, no matter what...
It's the only way to become something on his own with their help and now, that he is going to college, he is determined to get in!!!

"Fuck love.
It's more damaging to the soul than anything else in the world.
Losing someone you love is like living through your own death."
The pain so brutal, the sorrow rips the soul to shreds while still pumping gas to the heart."

Now that Rhett is in college, he is coming all the time face to face with Chastity... A girl different from those who are opening their legs to him in a blink of the eye... A girl that is hating his guts and he is getting under his skin with her preppy clothes and smartass mouth...
And then, what he was longing for, is becoming a reality and his first task is becoming.... her!!!
Can he do what he must do in order to become the one of the Elite Seven???
Can he hurt her when she is the only one who can dull his pain???

"Lust,
Your task is sin of the flesh...
Seduce the forbidden fruit."

I liked both Rhett and Chastity very much...
They were so different, but at the same time, they were fitting really good together...
He was reckless and wild and she was sweet and a little bit difficult...
He was LUST and he was lusting over her...
Could this thing between them become something more or their chances will be ruined, once and for all???

"Why are nice girls always attracted to bad boys?"
"Am I a bad boy?"
"The question you should ask is, am i a good girl?"
"Are you?"
"I don't want to be, when I'm around you."

Well, i love the idea of this elite with these seven people to represent the seven sins....
Rhett was the first one and his best friend, God, was another one of them, Gluttony, but unfortunately, his time has not come yet!!!
But to be totally honest with you, I'm so curious of each one of them, but for now, I'm very curious about Pride and i can not wait to read this book and to learn how he was connecting with Lilian....
Lilian who seems a very bad woman!!!! Hmmmm.... That ending left me craving more...

"Love is more dangerous than lust. I knew it and played into the game unwillingly, until it was too late. I lost."

“Your head’s a storm, turbulent and destructive. You need to find the center, the calm. Let me be that for you.”

I literally never thought I’d describe a Ker Dukey read as sweet and emotional, but here we are. Lust was different from the books of hers I usually read, but it was still a good read. It introduces the whole Elite society while going through Rhett’s back story and his love story. Basically the Elite gives Rhett some difficult tasks, and he has to decide whether or not he’s going to do them. His life is a hot mess during all of this and he thinks the Elite is the only thing that will get him where he wants to be in life. But can he do what they ask of him? Will he lose everything he’s been wanting? Will he lose the one person who has made his life bearable?! Read Lust and find out. ALSO.. ALSO... PRIDE. Omg. That ending!!!

Lust is the start to The Elite Seven series and introduces us to Rhett Masters, aka Lust. On a downward spiral after the death of his brother, there's only one thing he cares about. And that's being asked to join The Elite Seven. The not-so-secret society that is synonymous with power and wealth. But then he meets Chasity Griffin, the girl that is his complete opposite yet the one that is definitely a game changer for what he wants out of life.

I thought this was a really good book suspense wise, and it certainly kept me interested once I started. There were so many unknowns and so many hints of what's to come from this society that it had me getting more and more excited with each turn of the page. The book focused mostly on Rhett and his path to becoming part of The Elite but there were also little things, like his connection to Chasity, thrown in that also added some romance to the story. Albeit, it was almost next to no focus on that, but I honestly didn't mind since the intrigue of these Seven members had me so invested into the book.

Overall, if you're into a suspenseful story that will leave you wide-eyed in shock then this is the book for you. It will have you dying to get more of this series and more of the characters, especially God. I know he has some deep secrets that need sharing so I can't wait to get his story.

When I heard about the Elite Seven books and saw those gorgeous covers, I was definitely intrigued by the idea and couldn’t wait to see what these fantastic authors would bring. Lust is Book 1 and each book represents one of the cardinal sins. Of course I’m in!

This one started out pretty slow, in fact for the first 25% you don’t even know who’s the heroine or where is this going. However, once it picks up, it will keep you hooked right until the end.

I love a strong heroine, and Chastity was so cool and feisty. I simply loved her. Rhett was an entitled jerk but I liked him too. Their chemistry and banter was great and together they were hot.

As for the Elite Seven secret society, that’s a secret you’ll have to read to find out. I can’t wait for more, I’m super intrigued now. Pride by JD Holyfield is next!!!

While in high school, Rhett Masters was a star athlete who had all the girls fawning at his feet, but when a tragic accident impacts his family, his entire world changes. In the midst of his pain, Rhett remains determined to succeed at university and is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure his success as a member of the Elite Seven Society.

“Our power is unimaginable and all that is given can be stripped away should you break your oaths.”

Told solely from Rhett’s POV, the tone shifts from grief, despair, desperation, sacrifice and acceptance. From the beginning, his loss is felt but the landscape is also full of manipulation and vying factions seeking to exert hidden influence. While conflicted at times, Rhett finds solace in Chastity, and for the first time, he wants to more than he ever wanted.

“She is everything and more – delicious, forbidden, sweet as sin.”

With Lust being the first book in the Elite Seven series, the foundation is established and relationships are forged amongst the selected seven members. With Rhett, I wasn’t expecting the emotional trauma he was experiencing and that certainly added dimension to his womanizer persona. I enjoyed the attraction and banter between Rhett and Chastity and would have liked to delve a bit more into their relationship, but she definitely offers a good balance.

Lust is about friendship and loyalty, but also about deception and greed. This book will appeal to those seeking a romance suspense with darkish elements. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

I think at this point, I have to accept this whole series is bit off. The plot/ story is jumble around. The heroine showed up in the middle of the story and the hero just fell in love with her.

There are a lot of telling and not enough showing, which is my biggest let down. The good side is the writting is somehow addicting with soap opera style. Twisting here and there. Sometimes in a confusing way.

Miss Dukey certainly sets standard for this whole series.

Another book boyfriend I am now obsessed with! Rhett is a unique, intriguing, sexy character you will quickly fall in love with! In fact, all of the 7 “Elite” fascinated me – I can’t wait to read each of their books! The 7 authors collaborating on this series were smart to have Dukey take the lead, LUST forming a mysterious, intense, smoking hot foundation. Totally unpredictable, all consuming and sexy as hell, Dukey hit it out of the park again!!!

REVIEW: 3.5+ STARS
"Lust is a violent desire, destructive and uncontrollable.

Woah! What a beginning to a SEVEN book series! I am so excited for the promise this series holds, given the way this one started off. And holy hell....the way it ended!!! Clearly, jaw drops and eye pops are going to be a common occurrence with this series.

I loved seeing the many different sides of Rhett. His personality was pretty malleable based on the situations he was in, and that made him very intriguing to me. I really liked him. With Chastity's dynamic added to the mix, I definitely feel like I got a good look into Rhett's weaknesses and strengths. His emotions, no matter how much it worked against him, was one of his strongest traits. I loved how it propelled his every thought process and every decision. There was a layer of connectivity that was touched upon and I hope we get to see more of it in the future books.

One thing I did notice was that the focus of the book was more on setting up this series and what's going on with the Elite Seven and seemingly less to do with the romance picking up steam between Rhett and Chastity. While I don't think that's necessarily bad, I wanted more exploration of the growing feelings and sexual tension between these two, because there were times the tension jumped off the pages. It was palpable. Other times, it just felt like Rhett's cocky side was rearing its.....cocky head. Was he an outright asshole? I honestly don't think he was. At least, I didn't look at him that way. He was definitely the product of his environment, with circumstances working in conjunction with his drive to be who he needed to be as well as who he wanted to be. I really liked his character when Chastity was around though. Like, I liked it a lot!!

"She makes the raging storm calm so I can breathe through it." .

This was not as dark as I assumed it would be...but I also assumed this knowing how Ker Dukey writes, so that's my bad. Was it twisted? Oh, sure....these boys were definitely a little twisted, but that's what made them perfect for The Elite Seven. There was an ominous feeling as I continued to read deeper into not only this secretive world that was building, but I couldn't help but wonder how the different author's voices were going to play into each personality of each different character. I really am excited to see how this series plays out. I will say this was a good first book in this series. It opened up and took me on a ride, that's for sure.

With the secrets that lie within this elite society, Dukey kept me turning the pages, trying to find out not only what was going on. She set the stage for this series, and in doing so, she will also be responsible for introducing me to some new authors and their stories because now I can't wait to find out about each character!!

"You head's a storm, turbulent and destructive. You need to find the center, the calm. Let me be that for you."

****AVAILABLE NOW - FULL REVIEW****

4 Elite CROWNS

Lust is the beginning of The Elite Seven world, and Ker Dukey introduces to a world of sin and debauchery that is sure to be pushed through the next 6 books.

Rhett from the beginning has your sympathy. You understand why he has lost himself to drugs and alcohol and sins of the flush. You understand his need for the secret society and what they have to offer him. You revel in his healing and happiness. He is really just an all around lovable hero who happens to ooze sexuality and charm.

Chastity is the complete opposite of our hero, restricted by her father, a lot less sexually experienced, but she has a fire to her that matches Rhett.

I enjoyed the story and the writing, but I did feel like the relationship between the two professed too quickly, the conflict introduced and resolved with little angst or real trouble for the main characters. I did love the seeds that are planted for the rest of the series, and I did enjoy the story. I just felt bereft at the end of it, like I needed more of Rhett and Chastity and their struggle with this society and his sin.

I’m excited for this world. It is sexy, secretive, and sure to seduce me. Lust is just the tip of the iceberg.

This is my life, my chance, my legacy.
I am Rhett Masters.
I am LUST

After experiences two traumatic events, Rhett's life is spiralling out of control. Desperate to get out of his father's control and house, he is willing to do ANYTHING to be a part of The Elite, a secret society who takes care of their own.
He joins St. Augustine College, the place where The Elite recruits.

Chasity Griffin, daughter to the Dean of St. Augustine, is assigned as Rhett's mentor to help you settle in and help show you around your first week. And while she is nothing than Rhett's normal hookups he is drawn to her.

People say love is powerful, and that’s true, but more often than not, it’s corrupted by lust.

When the invitation comes to join the Elite, Rhett is subjected to a task to be completed to become a full member.

I liked Rhett and his friend God. The prologue is engrossing, heartbreaking and made me somewhat emotional, but it was what made me instantly like Rhett, a lot!

Lust is a force all its own. It consumes the mind and body, and causes even the most loyal to indulge in its sinful ways.

I'm looking forward to reading the stories of the other Elite prospects!

Part of the The Elite Seven Series and are best enjoyed when read in order.
Ker Dukey:“ The stories are connected. The love stories are complete in each book, but the back story carries on throughout the series.”

What a ride! And interesting introduction to what will become a captivating series centered around a secret society promising an unrivaled amount of wealth, prestige and benefits. I wasn’t really sure what to expect—maybe a dark, erotic romance of intrigue, debauchery and manipulation. However, this isn’t dark, or even erotic as the romance is pushed aside to create the foundation for the series.

I would still take lust over love every fucking time. Fuck love.

Chastity Griffin appears to be shy and timid, but there’s inextricable boldness and feistiness hidden beneath her appearance. She’s smart and sweet, with a touch of innocence about her demeanor, but there’s this admirable sensuality about her, too. It balances the dark wildness and teetering instability within Rhett.

Rhett Masters is desperate to escape from reality. Crushing guilt after losing someone and his father’s insufferable attitude have pushed him towards drowning in women, drugs and liquor. Conceited, arrogant and feeling an unhealthy amount of invincibility, nothing is forbidden or dangerous. Rhett embodies lust, however, more so through reputation than action.

My entire high school years were built on my reputation of panty peeler, pussy realtor, heart stealer.

It is one reason for pulling my rating down. I assumed this short story would be filthier, more forbidden and teeming with an intense amount of eroticism, finished with a dash of passion and romance to sweeten the connection. And that is my second reason for lowering my rating—the romance is minimal. When Rhett and Chastity are together, the pages explode with sexual tension and witty banter. You can sense unexplored chemistry between them that would have made an excellent forbidden romance.

Lust is a violent desire, destructive and uncontrollable.

I can say one thing for certain—I’m excited to continue delving deeper into this world of secret societies and sinfully devilish assignments. Ker Dukey’s writing is fantastic, the emotions will roll you over straight away, the pacing of this short story is decent and the concept of this series captivating.

When I saw that there was a series of 7 novellas coming out all in the same world by a few authors that I love, I was definitely intrigued. I was excited to try out some new authors and see how the first book in this series turned out!

Rhett Masters had it all. The looks, the girls, the athletic ability. But one night and one mistake changed everything and it haunts Rhett day and night. When Rhett's family is falling apart, the only salvation is joining The Elite, a secret society that's only been a whisper in his life. Now, it's time for him to prove his worth.

When I first started this book, I wasn't all sure how I felt about it. For a good 30% of the book, which is a lot for a novella, Rhett spent the time passed out or partying and waking up not knowing what happened the night before. He didn't even meet the love interest until then (over a quarter the way through), so I felt like there wasn't really a point to that part of the book. Once Rhett actively started to join the society, though, this book really picked up. I wanted to DNF or give this book a one star at the beginning, but the story FINALLY gained some momentum and drama and I finally started enjoying it.

Once this book finally picked up and actually had a point, I was sucked into this secret society and Rhett's romance. I still didn't enjoy Rhett's character all that much and would have preferred another point of view thrown into the mix, but it did make me much more intrigued about The Elite and the other six recruits.

Overall, this wasn't the best start to this series, but it did leave me wanting to know more about the other characters and what the authors can do with this world. Hopefully the series picks up after this!

Lust was another addicting read by Ker Dukey! I was hooked from the start and was just obsessed with Rhett's story. It was sexy and compelling and a fantastic start to the series. I could not get enough!

When Rhett Master's life is struck by tragedy he loses all focus and becomes consumed with joining The Elite Seven Society open to a lucky group of seven, the crém de la crém of society. But when he meets Chastity Griffin, a woman who calms the demons in his mind, he finds that he is faced with his greatest challenge.

I enjoyed this quick story. I enjoyed the  banter between Chastity and Rhett and the connection they had. Overall, this story was sexy and intense and set up the series very well. I can't wait for Pride's book. 4 stars! ~Ratula

2 Didn't Really Do It For Me Stars

So on GR, 2 stars = "it was okay," so I wanted to preface my review with that in mind... This one just didn't really do it for me --- it felt much more YA than dark romance (and I am not a YA fan). The plot was pretty shallow; the reader wasn't even introduced to the female MC to at least halfway through the story (possibly even more than that), so there wasn't much time to become invested in her as a character before the book wrapped up. Rhett was not very likeable as he thought way more of himself (and his dick) than he clearly should have, and he came across as extremely short-sighted and immature for most of the book. The side stories were not very compelling either, so there just wasn't much to sink your teeth into here. The idea is a good one, so I will read the next book (the series is also authored by different writers, so that might make a difference as well). I just couldn't connect with this one much at all. I will say that the attitude of the male MC changes at the end of the book once he seems to finally wake up and realize that what he wanted isn't what he thought it would be, and he seemed to develop at least a hint of a moral compass, so that is somewhat promising....

Plot --- 2/5
Main Characters --- 2/5
Supporting Cast --- 2/5
Steam Level --- 1/5
Language --- Yep
Violence --- nothing triggering, unless you have lost a loved one in an auto-on-pedestrian accident bc that's where the book starts off; otherwise, it's mostly testosterone-fueled bs kinds of things
POV --- 1st (Rhett/male MC)

Release Date: February 11, 2019
Genre: New Adult. College Romance.
Actual Rating: 4 stars

Lust is the first book in The Elite Seven series. The series revolves around 7 young men who are selected to be a part of an elite group where their sins make them rich and powerful. This book follows Rhett who is elected to be Lust in the group. This sin fits Rhett quite well because he is known to be a panty chaser and womanizer.

All in all, I think Ker Dukey did a good job at bringing Rhett's character and the lust sin together. While we didn't get to read about his sexual conquests (they are just talked about in terms of how he was BEFORE the accident -I won't spoil it and say what-) readers get the gist in terms of how the ladies perceive him. I think I would have rated the book a bit higher had the sexual conquests been an integral part of the story (that IS what lust is about after all), but having it in the periphery was fine too.

Readers may wonder if this is a romance. Yes, it is. Although Rhett has had his share of women in the past, he does meet that one girl who changes everything for him. She is the good girl whereas he is the bad boy. She's the daughter of the schools dean and enjoys reading books rather than partying. And she certainly tames Rhett when it comes to playing the field. I personally love a bad boy/good girl romance and this one fit the bill! However, I would have liked to have a little more buildup with their relationship- the author wrote it too fast with not enough filling.

Overall, I think this is a good start to the series and I do plan to read the rest of the books. I am intrigued to see what happens next because the way this one ended left me feeling all sorts of excitement. I wouldn't say this is a cliffhanger per se, but it does leave you hanging in terms of how the next characters story will start! I can't wait to read it.

The story was shallow with meh plot twist (if you can call it a plot twist). The hero went from bad boy to sweet boy and the heroine from nerd to nympho. The Elite Club is supposed to be secret but almost every one knew about it or was a member of the club and some scenes were rather disgusting than sexy. Idk, it just wasn't for me, I guess.

I really like the idea of this series and I am so glad that each of the books in the series is written by someone else (I am excited to read Greed because Amo Jones writes excellent fucked up stories) because this book by Ker Dukey was a let down.

“Born Conqueror”

I truly appreciated reading Ker Dukey’s novel in this “The Elite Seven” series written by seven different authors…each book bearing the title of one of the famous seven deadly sins. Each book explores the initiation of one of the deserving members… the (“uincendum natus”) …into the “The Elite Seven” bearing the title of one of the sins. The first one…fittingly so for the audience it attracts…is Lust.
It is an inventive premise. Although secret societies are not a novel trope…this one is creative in the concept of character naming and theme. With further reading through the books, maybe we will be able to determine if this society, which was founded to benefit society, does indeed, seek justice and fairness; or if it is merely a charade for the rich and powerful to consolidate their hold over the powers to be for their own benefit.
The story in this book illustrates this conundrum exactly. Rhett, who has issues with trauma, grief and some questionable parenting, seeks to be initiated into the society. The task he is given to prove himself worthy is in direct contradiction with his heart’s desire. Despite all his miserable circumstances, Rhett is at heart a noble character…albeit a dark hero of sorts.
I enjoy the writing style of Ker Dukey enormously. It is dark, atmospheric, very sexy and erotic. The story is narrated to us through Lust’s (Rhett’s) POV which enables the reader to identify and understand Rhett well.
There is a complete resolution to Lust’s story but there is a segue to the next book that entices the reader to continue on in the series. I look forward to giving the whole series a read. If you like your romance a shade darker with foreboding elements then this book is a surefire choice.

“Lust is a violent desire, destructive and uncontrollable. If you let the sensation take root, you become captive to its power, until you’re waking up in the wreckage of its path.”

“There were a lot of guys in high school who bitched about going down on a woman, but to me, there’s nothing better—nothing more masculine than making a woman quiver and come on your tongue. I’d bathe in her juices if I could.”

“Love is more dangerous than lust. I knew it and played into the game unwillingly, until it was too late. I lost.”

Damn this was good. My 1st 5* star of 2019. Lust is the opener of the The Elite Seven Series. A series that will demonstrate the seven deadly sins. Ker Dukey is the author of the first book. He writing style is addictive. When she brings Rhett Masters to life we learn what true lust is all about.

Grief is a fickle whore. It hits me in waves, reminding me whenever I try to forget.

Rhett is grieving for his youngest brother. The only thing propelling him these days is his lust for power and wealth. He hears about a secret society that promises fame, wealth and connections. Rhett sets out on a destructive path trying to gain entry.

I am Lust.

When I saw a post with the premise of The Elite Seven series and the synopsis of Lust I knew they were my kind of book and then HOLY hotness the covers for all of them came out.

The thing I wasn't expecting was the depth of emotion I would feel in the prologue. It was a visceral reaction to Rhett's pain that the author doesn't sugar coat, it was raw and so real. It's a moment that changes the course of his life, now his one hope is to get into The Elite.

Chastity is a young woman who literally falls into his life and two people who wouldn't normally meet become each other's solace from the pain.

This is The Elite and getting picked is the easy part actually becoming a member is when the hard work starts. No-one said getting what you want is easy but what if you get it and it's not what you imagined.

Secret society + alpha young men = my kind of book.
