“Yet when you think of it, there is no other space, public or private, where so many individuals so different in terms of age, income, education, geographic and ethnic background, and personal style, move about and rub shoulders with each other. No enclosed space where people are brought into greater contact with their fellow humans, dozens of times a year, and were each has a chance to catch a glimpse of others’ way of living and being.”...more

This school year at Hogwarts was not fun for the trio, mostly because of Umbridge but also because they are growing up. Harry have been dealing with so much up until now and it's just been brewing in his head and driving him mad, but in this book it crosses the line and he breaks down. The adults keep things from him, he has nightmares and constant pain in his scar, hes receiving terrible detentions, Dumbledore wont look him in the eye, Cho ignores him, Sirius suffers, Ron suffers, Hagrid suffers - EVERYONE suffers. It felt really good seeing Harry finally stand up for himself a bit and just allow himself to.... be sad. I feel angry just reading these books, so seeing Harry beef with the annoying characters and just not giving a fuck was awesome! It made me happy!
I dont even want to talk about Umbridge, she was literally a joke of a witch and i just loved seeing her downfall. Fred and George were amazing in this book, the pranks they pulled on that woman were fantastic<3 Very creative and deserved! The biggest surprise of this book was that i kind of ended up liking Snape a little bit - I still hate him, but i understand him a little bit more... He's a cruel, childish, greasy man but he has his moments and also a very tragic past.
Another "new" character was Luna Lovegood and i absolutely loved her because she is literally me. I can relate to her in very many ways, so it was very fun to get to know her! The DA (Dumbledores Army) project was one of the only sources of happiness in this book, and she was part of it along with dear Neville and some others. I feel so bad for Neville but he had some serious skill development in this book! Love it!
The ending of this book was very sweet, Dumbledore finally looking Harry in the eye, apologizing and explaining everything. I needed that after.... everything......more

Thats what i feel about this little book. Fun and interesting but way too short… I didn’t understand the last part about the graves but i loved the white nights dreamers<3...more

I have however developed a newfound appreciation for poetry as an art form, after reading Audre Lorde’s take on it in Sister Outsider: Essays and Speeches;
“Of all the art forms, poetry is the most economical. It is the one which is the most secret, which requires the least physical labor, the least material, and the one which can be done between shifts, in the hospital pantry, on the subway, and on scraps of surplus paper. … As we reclaim our literature, poetry has been the major voice of poor, working class and colored women. … The actual requirements to produce the visual arts also help determine along class lines whose art is whose. … When we speak for broadly based women’s culture, we need to be aware of the effect class and economic differences on the supplies available for producing art.”
Audre Lorde is a genius and i found quite a lot of poetry i liked in this collection! I would love to hear her read her own poems!!!!...more

I love her raspy voice and how you can hear the emotion in her voice as she reads about her crazy life and her tragic losses. This woman has been through so much shit but also so many exciting things. All of her stories are iconic in their own way. She is so human, so raw and so honest that it's honestly inhumane.
I had so much fun listening to this while sitting on trains through Europe, it felt a bit illegal at times to listen to this in public but that was part of the fun....more
This reminded me of why i love books because i was INVESTED and so into it i forgot who i was and that i was actually in my bed and not in her world. This reminded me of why i love books because i was INVESTED and so into it i forgot who i was and that i was actually in my bed and not in her world. This is the perfect spooky book for halloween, it has ghosts, creepy dolls, a haunted tree, scary unnatural creatures walking around killing people, and a mystery...! It's also norse mythology and the book is actually set in Norway which is kind of funny. Being from Norway myself, i realized how little i know of our own mythology- so all of this was kind of new to me and therefore super fun! I think i want to learn more about it, it seemed very interesting.
I really loved this story, it felt like those fairytales i read as a kid. Alone in a cabin with a strange boy, deep into the forest with no wifi connection and a wolf roaming the forest at night. A strange tree in the garden creaking and croaking, housing two crows watching your every move.... Ghosts hiding in the shadows, walking around at night, wanting to be freed from their regrets. You get the vibe, i LOVED it!!
I'm not sure what i felt about the ending tho, it was a bit quick and i felt like the characters changed very suddenly! I still had a lot of questions about everything, especially stig and the grandmother!! There is actually a second book in this series so maybe we'll get some more answers then? I'll have to read it!! It's about a creepy circus - sounds amazing!!!!...more

This is by far my favorite Harry Potter book so far. Everything is so heated and exciting that i'll have to read number 5 REAL SOON!!
I really felt with Harry in this book, he was pushed into so many things he didn't want to do, while everyone believed him to be a "stinky" cheat that was doing it for attention. Like PLEASE! There are SO many annoying characters in this book, i am literally burning with anger at some of them, i dont understand how Harry, Ron, Hermione and DUMBLEDORE keeps their cool (most of the time), i admire them at the same time as i hate them for not striking back. I wouldn't survive at Hogwarts simply because i would snap at everyone and get into fights (but this would make me a very good wizard because i'd have a bunch of spells and tricks up my sleeve). Anyways, as if Harry wasn't traumatized enough already, he is definitely traumatized NOW.
This book was in general pretty sad but i really like sad books so i dont mind... It was amazing and packed full of adventures and action, combined with moments of friendship and lots of bickering. I simply loved it....more

Every chapter starts with a Two little lads during the Great Depression era, working on farms and dreaming of having their own little place sometime. Every chapter starts with a very atmospheric description of the current area - which was what originally made me want to read this book! Then theres just a lot of chatting between the guys on the ranch and everything that happens. They talk in a very interesting way that only made sense when i tried reading it in an old irish accent… I cant speak irish, but my inner voice sure can!
I really like these types of books, because they tell the story of so many human lives, and I just think its so important to acknowledge how people have lived before us. So many men spending their lives working on farms and so many women ending up as an isolated wife on these farms - dreaming of a life in Hollywood or literally anywhere else. So many dreams that never came true because at the end of the day we’re just human and our world is quite fkd up (this is our own fault)...more

I really enjoyed the story of her growing up in a "cult" type situation but especially her being gay and standing up for herself - AT 16??! The community and different characters were great, the extreme christians living next door to some normal non-believers and how that worked out. I really liked it, so maybe it was the writing i didn't like?
"People like to separate storytelling which is not fact from history which is fact. They do this so that they know what to believe and what not to believe. This is very curious. How is it that no one will believe that the whale swallowed Jonah when every day Jonah is swallowing the whale? Because it is history. Knowing what to believe had its advantages. It built an empire and kept people where they belonged, in the bright realm of the wallet..."
