As long as she's near me, I question nothing. She's my doctor, my guide, and the subject of nearly every thought in my head. Everything I do--everything I am--centers on her.
Where do I begin with this book? I’ve been trying to figure out a way to write a review that will do it justice, but without spoiling anything for those of you who haven’t picked it up yet. I’ve read a few of Shay’s books and I’m definitely a fan of her writing style. She tends to write in the male’s POV and does a damn good job of it. Her stories are usually action packed and could be made into blockbuster movies on the big screen, although they may actually be labeled XXX, or NC17 if she were to cut down on the sexy time. You just know when you pick up a Shay Savage book that you better have a supply of clean panties because the ones you wear will be getting soaked!!!
The story begins with the Hero waking up in a deserted lab. He doesn’t know how he got there and what’s worse is he doesn’t remember his own name. He has no memories at all. You can feel his anxiety and completely empathize with him when he freaks out and wrecks the lab. Gas is leaked into the lab which renders him unconscious. The next time he wakes up he notices an attractive woman in a lab coat working on a laptop. The moment he lays eyes on her, he is automatically turned on. He has been assigned to Dr. Riley Grace for a highly classified medical experiment. He asks how he ended up there and he is told that he volunteered to have his memory completely wiped out in order to be transformed into a cyber-enhanced soldier. He will have superhuman strength and intellect to get him out of dangerous situations whenever he is sent out on a top secret mission. He will also be able to function without food and water as currently they are a rare commodity. Dr. Riley names him STEN, which is short for specimen seventy-two of eighty-nine. There was a total of eighty-nine men who were transformed into these special cyber soldiers.
So Sten has some microchips implanted in his brain and he receives daily injections of testosterone and other drugs that help to make him the perfect soldier but also a lovely side-effect is that he is completely under Riley’s control. He will do anything she says and only wants to please her. Sten also wants nothing more than to have sex with Riley, 24/7. This guy is perfect and I was thinking how awesome it would be if we all could have our own Sten.
Sten starts having dreams and they turn out to be flashbacks of his previous life. He was told he volunteered to be a specimen but his dreams have him questioning if possibly he’s been lied to. As time moves on Riley and Sten give into their passion for each other and WOW, just holy wow, these two can go at it for hours on end. I wondered how Riley could walk straight the next day.
There’s a crazy amount of action and I was dying to find out how these two were going to be able to get through it all and ultimately have their HEA. I have left a lot of the details out because I really don’t want to spoil this one for you all but I have to say I am freaking PISSED with the ending!! It’s like the author said, “HA the joke’s on you!!”
This is definitely an entertaining read and one that will have your mind blown by the time you get to the last page.

This standalone sports romance had a very bleak and depressing feel to it. While I really liked the Hero, I found it hard to warm up to the Heroine and I guess I wasn’t in the mood for yet another story about two unfortunate souls who weren’t blessed with loving and nurturing families. While Ginger Scott is a gifted writer and I did enjoy parts of this story and I found Memphis’s character to be endearing, there were things about the story that didn’t gel for me. The twist in the plot was one of them. I didn’t see the need to take the story in that direction and neither did it enhance my reading experience.
I’ll end this review with what I liked about the story. I really did like Memphis as the Hero. No matter what challenges life threw his way, he was determined to live a decent life and honor the memory of a father he never got the chance to know before he passed on. He had a huge heart and I enjoyed all the scenes between him and Miles, the homeless war veteran that Memphis would check up on from time to time. The romance was sweet and mildly steamy.
I’m sure devoted Ginger Scott fans will enjoy this one. It just wasn’t my favorite by this author and I think I need to be in the mood to read a book with such a depressing backdrop and overall feel.
Here are my overall ratings: Hero:4 Heroine:3 Plot:3 Angst:2.5 Steam:3 Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine:3

At some point we began to rock our steps, and as Henry’s eyes reflect against the setting sun, the brown and green mix in a hypnotic gaze that stops my heart ever so briefly. It skips. I die, just for a breath. I die—and I come back.

BRED is Ginger Scott’s incredibly angsty version of one of her all-time favorite stories, ”Great Expectations” by Charles Dickens. This is a coming of age romance between two teenagers who are from completely opposite scales of society but find they have more things in common than they do differences.
Lily's living with her last remaining relatives after her parents died in a tragic car accident. She’s a lonely girl who finds a bit of happiness in the beautiful boy she meets during her aunt’s job interview with the boy’s mother. Henry is also drawn to the beautiful and shy young girl. Over the course of the first year of their friendship, his adopted mother, Elena, offers to provide piano lessons to Lily. Lily proves to have a gift and picks up the piano quickly. She ends up getting a scholarship to attend the same prestigious boarding school that Henry is going to as well. From there the angst ensues and it’s the conniving Elena that plays with their minds and hearts as if they are pieces of a chess game.
The story started off at a pace that was a little too slow for me. The plot turns interesting when things start to change between Henry and Lily, and earth-shattering secrets are revealed. I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next for the young couple. Overall, this was a super angsty and enjoyable read.

In my mind’s eye, he’s beautifully savage. Taking what he wants with the sole purpose of feeding what he craves. And I want to give it to him. I want to feed his appetite for my ruin. I don’t know why, except that the surrender feels so promising.
This installment was twice as good as Episode One! I believe I have another author to add to my favorites list. For some reason I find myself falling for the truly f’d up heroes and Rip definitely had my heart racing in this latest book!!
At the end of book one, Dylan is caught red handed by Rip. She broke into his home and got into his safe. She desperately needed money in order to pay the fine to get her dog out of Animal Control’s headquarters. Rip is intrigued by Dylan. He wants to know how she even found him and got into his house, and why when there was so much money in his safe, did she only steal six thousand dollars.
Dylan is addicted to Oxy and for what seems to be a week, she is coming in and out of consciousness. She doesn’t know what’s real or what’s a nightmare. She appears to be chained up in a basement and going through painful withdrawals. But then she wakes up in a warm shower with strong arms embracing her. Dylan thinks this is a dream but later on, when she finally wakes up in a strange bed, with an IV stuck in her arm, she’s not so sure anymore.
Rip is feeling an intense attraction to Dylan, and even though she is terrified of him, Dylan's body and mind betray her by also having intense sexual reactions to his touch. She’s offered a deal to stay with him for two months, where she will let him do whatever he wants to her, sexually, and then she gets to walk away with twenty thousand dollars. What she doesn’t know is Rip has a really kinky and somewhat brutal sexual appetite. He can't reach sexual gratification unless there is some pain mixed in with the pleasure. His playroom puts Christian Grey’s red room to shame!! I learned something new and I’m still kind of trying to figure out how one of his toys works!!
Dylan is still fighting with her addiction and also battles with her feelings for Rip. And Rip is finding it hard to focus on business when thoughts of the beautiful young girl, locked in his house, keeps running through his mind. He’s never felt this way for a woman and it’s not a complication he can afford to have in his life.
Will he let Dylan go before she becomes to mean too much to him? This series is far from the hearts and flowers romances, I usually gravitate towards, but I am completely addicted to it! Each episode ends leaving you wanting more and hoping that somehow these two damaged souls can find redemption from the bond that is forming between them.
THE RIPPLE EFFECT: EPISODE TWO is currently available! Make sure you one-click!

A woman like that is dangerous for a man like me, but letting her go is no longer an option. I can’t decide if she’s a nightmare or a dream. All I know is that I want more of it. More of her.
THE RIPPLE EFFECT series is highly addictive, super dark, and decadently steamy!! Each episode is better than the last. This particular episode packed a punch with the steam and it delivered the romance that I have been patiently waiting for. In Episode Three, Rip and Dylan are getting to know each other on a much deeper level.
Dylan and Rip are beginning to feel that that is more than just an undeniably hot attraction between them. They are becoming to mean a whole lot more to each other and it scares them both equally. They’re revealing things about themselves to each other which strengthens the bond between them. But Rip continues to warn Dylan that there is no possible way that they can have a future together. No matter how hard she tries to act as if her heart is not being broken by his words, Dylan can’t help but feel completely rejected by the man she is slowly starting to fall in love with.
Dylan meets a woman from Rip’s past that only brings forth even more unanswered questions. And when Rip makes the mistake of showing how much Dylan means to him, it ends up putting her in a very precarious situation. Things are not looking good for Dylan by the time we get to the end of this episode but hopefully, love will conquer all and these two will ride off into the sunset together by the time we reach the conclusion in Episode Four.
I can’t praise this series enough!! It’s freaking amazing!! Keri Lake is another author that I am happy to add to my automatic must read shelf now!

Darkness has a way of welcoming immoral self-indulgence. Whether it’s sex or murder, the night makes it a bit more personal, dream-like, since most of the world is in a state of suspended consciousness. Completely unaware of the danger that lurks among them during the day.
The Ripple Effect is a seriously dark and gritty story. There isn’t even a hint of romance within the pages of this book. The characters are deeply flawed and broken, and yet for some reason, you can’t help but hope the Hero and Heroine will eventually end up together. At times the scenes are beyond gory, so if you are squeamish, this may not be the book for you.
Dylan is just another unfortunate victim of the child welfare system. She’s been living in foster care since her crack whore mother died several years back. Her current foster dad pays nightly visits to her room, drugs her and then sexually molests her. She’s become addicted to oxy. The only thing to bring happiness to her life is her dog, Charlie, and the man who goes to the diner across the street every night who she has illicit fantasies about. One day, after school she is attacked by her foster dad and is put in a precarious situation which ignites her survival instincts and she ends up escaping with her dog and another little girl who was staying at the house as well. Desperate to make some money, she heads out to the streets in hopes of picking up a guy who’d be willing to pay her a couple hundred for some sexual favors. She ends up getting into the car of the absolute worst guy imaginable.
Ripley is an assassin for hire. This man definitely has a strong constitution and a huge imagination. Killing someone would probably be too mild of a term to describe how his victims meet their end. It is just too gory to even describe. But somehow he has a sexy edge to him, I mean it’s not like he’s killing innocent people. These men are in organized crime, pedophiles, rapists, and deal in human trafficking. During his stakeout on his latest mark, he sees what appears to be an underaged girl trying to turn tricks and she becomes an unwanted complication as she gets into the car of his next intended hit.
Rip follows them to an abandoned warehouse. When he gets inside he can’t help but be impressed by the tenacity of the young woman. She’s a fighter and does her best to protect herself from the slime who has made it clear his intentions are to rape and kill her. Rip ends up stepping in before Dylan is about to be taken out and she is knocked unconscious. When she comes to, the horrific scene that is laid out before her eyes has her gut wrenching from the grotesque visuals. Somehow she is able to reach the part of Rip’s deeply hidden humanity and he spares her life. He gives her $50 from the canvas bag full of cash that her dead potential rapist was carrying on him.
There seems to be a perpetual black cloud hovering over Dylan. She finds herself in need of some serious cash but having no home nor anyone to turn to, she recalls that bag of cash that Rip took with him and as luck would have it, Rip turned out to be the man from the diner who she would watch and fantasize about every Friday night. She knows when and where she’ll be able to find him and somehow get the chance to get her hands on that money.
I’ve never read anything by Keri Lake before but having seen so much love for her previous series, I couldn’t wait to dive into this book. I usually love for my stories to have some romance in it and although this one was lacking in that department, I still was very entertained. There were moments in the beginning where I wasn’t sure I could read it as I’m not a fan of child abuse and molestation but luckily the story doesn’t stay in that uncomfortable area for too long. I’m not too sure what to think of Rip at the moment. I think he had good reasons for getting into his line of business but thenumber of kills under his belt has nearly obliterated any semblance of an empathetic soul within him.
I do hope that somehow, Dylan is able to get out of the dire straits that her life has led her to and that maybe these two characters will find solace within the connection that is building between them.

We’re volatile and chaotic together, ripples in the water that explode into riptides, pulling us deeper. The more she takes, the more I want to give. The more I want her.
Episode Four did not disappoint in the least! It’s filled with panty melting steam, jaw-dropping revelations, and tons of action and bloody violence! I never thought that I would be so addicted to the dark romance genre but sometimes I love it even more than RomComs which truly does surprise me. What I’ve learned after having read this series, is that I love the way Keri Lake writes. Her words are hauntingly beautiful and if I go back and look at all the excerpts I highlighted, I don’t think I would be able to keep track!
What I will say about this last episode is that many questions are answered and that love does indeed conquer all. There are too many enemies and it seems their end game is to keep Rip and Dylan apart, but Rip will unleash his fury on anyone who tries to take what is his!! Ah, how I loved that dark and complex man! He made the story for me!
Even though I loved this series and believe me when I say that Keri Lake has a new fan in me, I have to say that after having finished the books, I truly wish that this had been released as one full novel, instead of being broken up into four novellas. Normally I have a truly exceptional memory – you can ask Mel and Dee, they will attest to that! However, when it came to this series I had a hard time keeping track of how each episode ended. There were way too many bad guys and some of them had multiple identities which had my brain in a deep fog! I couldn’t for the life of me keep track of who was who and what had they done to wrong either Rip or Dylan.
But even though at times pieces of the story messed with my brain, I really did enjoy reading it, for the most part, Keri Lake has become an automatic read author for me. Here’s to hoping that she writes a book for Jorgen!!

THE BED MATE is a ”friends-to-lovers” romance between two people who have been “besties” for over eight years. This is the final installment of the ROOMMATES series and I’m glad we are finally getting to the end. I really loved the first two books but the last few were just “ok” for me. This wasn’t the best book I’ve read under this trope but it also wasn’t the worst. It started off pretty good but then after a while, I found the Heroine’s obliviousness to the situation to be completely absurd, and I thought the Hero was a little too sweet and too good to be true.
Sam and Maggie have been the best of friends since they met in college. They’ve been there for each other through numerous failed relationships. They've never let their romantic relationships affect their friendship. In all the years that they’ve known each other, neither of them have been single at the same time. Sam has a plethora of relationships that have gone wrong, while Maggie has only had a couple of long-term boyfriends. Finally, right before New Year’s Eve, Maggie ends up breaking up with her boyfriend when she catches him cheating on her. She planned to hide away in Sam’s apartment while he was on a skiing trip in Colorado but he buys her a ticket to fly out and join him.
Sam has been in love with Maggie since they first met but never had the chance to reveal his true feelings for her since he was quickly placed in the "friend zone". This holiday in Colorado might be just the push he needs to make his move.
Maggie has always thought Sam was gorgeous and at times she has had daydreams of him but never pursued her feelings for fear of ruining their friendship. Will she finally get a clue and see what everyone else has been trying to tell her all along?

There’s one thing I have come to know about Penelope Douglas and that is she can deliver teen angst like no other. I loved BULLY when I read it several years ago and Punk 57 definitely has the same flavor as that book. I felt like I was thrown back into High School, feeling all the same insecurities over how I was being perceived by my peers and also crushing on that one mysterious and hot bad boy that all the girls had their eyes on. Don’t even get me started on the scorching hot steaminess within the pages of this book! There just wasn’t much that I didn’t love about this story!
Ryen and Misha have been the best of friends for seven years. They became pen pals for a fifth-grade school project and continued to write each other even after the assignment had ended. The two live in neighboring towns but made a pact to never meet in person, because neither of them wanted their near perfect perception of each other to be shattered. Just one night changes the course of their friendship forever. They meet at a fundraising scavenger hunt for Misha’s rock band in an abandoned warehouse. Misha hears someone calling out Ryen’s name and then curiosity has him seeking her out. When they cross paths he doesn’t divulge his identity to her but the chemistry between them is undeniable. But their chance meeting is cut short when a tragedy occurs later that night which shrouds Misha in silence and despair for months to come.
Three months have gone by and Ryen has not received one reply to any of the countless letters she has sent to Misha. He’s basically dropped off the face of the earth without any explanation as to why. She’s starting to feel completely alone in the world because her one true friend has basically abandoned her. Then one day at school, a mysterious new student shows up in one of her classes and he comes to the aid of a boy who’s being bullied by one of Ryen’s ”friends”, and it may have been brought on by her instigating the situation. Masen Laurent doesn’t hold back his feelings of disgust for Ryen and her utterly shallow existence. She can’t seem to figure out why this new guy’s opinion of her matters so much and also why she is strongly attracted to him. Little does she know that Masen is really Misha and that they had a run in several nights earlier at an abandoned amusement park, where she took something of his and he wants it back. Each time these two come face to face they end up in heated arguments but also the physical attraction between them is white hot and palpable.
Misha is so in awe of how beautiful Ryen is but at the same time he can’t help but feel massive disappointment over the shallow persona she has built up for herself at her high school. Gone is the girl that became his everything since he was just eleven-years-old. Or is she? As they start to spend more time with each other, Misha is able to chip away at Ryen’s barriers that she has built up over the years and soon these two are all twisted up in each other. But their relationship is hanging on by the tiniest of threads because Misha hasn’t revealed his true identity or what the real reason is for him being enrolled in her school under a fake name.
I have to admit I had a really hard time liking the heroine and when you get to the end of the book the author does address the fact that she created a character whose likability is extremely challenged. That being said, my overall enjoyment of the book wasn’t the least bit tarnished by my extreme dislike for Ryen. Let’s just say that my heart was won over by the gorgeous boy with the gift to see beauty through the ugliness and whose words became some pretty powerful lyrics.

If you’ve read any of Jay McLean’s previous books, then you know your heart and mind are about to be put through so much gut-wrenching torment but her stories are beyond phenomenal and so you just keep coming back for more torture. None of her characters ever have a straight and easy path to their happily ever after, and that certainly wasn’t the case for Leo and Mia. Their love story will be filled with about a decade's worth of heartbreak and unbearable angst. I loved every minute of reading this one. Leo surprised me. Who knew the quiet Preston brother would become the biggest swoon-worthy Hero?!
Leo has always been the quiet and introverted Preston sibling, but you learn in his story that he does not waste words. When he does speak, the most beautiful heart-wrenching words come out of his mouth. When Leo gives his heart to a girl…it’s the forever kind of love. The moment he laid eyes on Mia at the tender age of thirteen, Leo was a goner. It takes him a full year to get the courage to even speak to her and when he does, the two form a fast friendship and create sweet memories that will carry them through some dark times.
Mia is a shy and insecure young girl. Both of her parents abandoned her and she’s only ever known what it feels to be loved by her grandfather and her childhood best friend. She’s been ridiculed for years over her looks and her weight. When gorgeous Leo Preston starts spending time with her and makes his feelings for her known, she can hardly believe that this is really happening to her. Just when it looks like her life is taking the turn for the better, it all falls apart, and it’s Leo’s silence that speaks volumes in Mia’s mind. His silence will cause him to lose the girl.
Years go by and somehow fate has brought these two back together, but Mia hasn’t forgotten what happened in the past and she’s not so eager to give Leo another chance to rip her heart apart. So much heartbreaking angst transpires between these two. Ultimately a secret that Mia’s been keeping will have the power to tear these two apart forever or will destroy the Preston family.
This was a truly epic story and Leo is now my favorite Preston brother!

Maddox Paige is the notorious bad boy pitcher of the Chicago Rebels. We only started to get a glimpse into this tender soul in the previous book, ”The Trade”. Maddox grew up in a toxic environment, thanks to his abusive alcoholic father. Having endured his father’s rage for so many years has left an imprint on him. It’s why Maddox has such a short fuse and is often the first to be throwing fists during a brawl on the playing field. He keeps his personal life private and only a few people know that a true artist and gentle soul lay hidden beneath the rough & tatted exterior. One of those people, is his best friend from childhood, Kinsley. She has been there for him through thick and thin. Has always provided a safe haven for Maddox when he needed an escape from his tyrannical father. It’s been years since he left their hometown and made a name for himself in the major leagues, but through it all, they’ve managed to hold on to their strong connection.
Maddox invites Kinsley to move in with him when she lands her dream job working for an animal shelter in Chicago. He never knew that having Kinsley in his home would flip his world on its axis. She’s an unstoppable force of nature, but Maddox, while utterly clueless to his emotions, is completely enamored with her, and would do anything to make her happy. It seems these best-friends are both unaware of how the other feels, but they also fear the possibility of losing their friendship if they attempt to reveal what’s really in their hearts.
Maddox and Kinsley will eventually give in to their attraction and these two have the spiciest sexy scenes out of all the couples in this series. I loved their easy connection and found the angsty moments completely unbearable. Who knew Maddox would end up being a true swoon-worthy Hero??!!

”THE MODERN GENTLEMAN” was another extremely hilarious romantic comedy written by the Queen of RomComs – Meghan Quinn. I lost count of the number of times I found myself in a fit of belly-aching laughter. I was a goner for Wes Waldorf aka ”The Modern Gentleman” after we first meet him drowning his sorrows in a girly drink called the ’Mang-o-Rita”. A Hero who doesn’t care about being caught wallowing in a pity party for one, drinking a girly drink, wearing his woman’s scarf around his head, and listening to a sad Joni Mitchell song, is a book boyfriend that I know is going to steal reader’s hearts.
Wes has always been confident in his ability to attract the opposite sex. That’s why his relationship advice column is the breadwinner for the internet-based publication he works for. His boss has given him an ultimatum to change things up and write a series of articles on his real-life experiences in trying to win the heart of a woman he just met. At the time he’s not dating anyone and is only given three days to find a woman to woo. This amps up his anxiety levels because the alternative that he is faced with is being set up with the boss’s daughter.
Wes meets June Lacy, a quirky aspiring Broadway actress. June is like no other woman he’s ever dated and she is not easily wooed. She keeps Wes on his toes and has him acting like an inexperienced teenager. Wes’ game is shot. He suffers numerous embarrassing but supremely hilarious blunders. The entire time you get inside this character’s head and realize he is one truly amazing guy with a heart of gold. He’s falling for the girl but has kept his assignment for the magazine a secret. Can you see what lays ahead for Wes and June? It’s predictable and yet wildly entertaining. You’ll never guess all the ways in which Wes fails at trying to impress the girl spectacularly, but boy, will you find yourself in the midst of side-splitting laughter!! This is another book I’m adding to my long list of favorites by this amazing author.

I am convinced that no one is better at writing romances with bad boy alphas as good as L.J. Shen. Every time I read one of her books, I start off thinking the Hero is an irredeemable villain who only has wealth and looks going for him, but by the end of her stories my original opinion is usually reversed and I've fallen for the character and his flaws. It always takes a Heroine who seems to be his polar opposite to help the Hero reach his full potential.
”THE HUNTER”, is a spin-off of the ”All Saints High” series and one of her earlier books ”Sparrow”. Hunter Fitzpatrick is one of the popular boys who ruled Todos Santos along with Vaughn Spencer and Knight Cole. At nineteen, Hunter is driven by pure hedonistic pleasures. He winds up being wrapped up in an embarrassing sex scandal, which has his father dragging him back home to Boston. Hunter is given an ultimatum to stay sober and to curb all sexual escapades for the next six months or he will lose his inheritance and his future position as a high ranking executive in his family’s company. His dad has arranged for Hunter to have a roommate who is tasked with ensuring that he doesn’t go back to his old self-destructive ways.
Sailor is the daughter of one of Boston’s infamous hitmen, Troy Brennan, and world-famous chef, Sparrow Brennan. It would appear that history is about to repeat itself for Troy and Sparrow’s spirited daughter. She is forced to be in an ”arranged” relationship with Hunter, in return her campaign to win a spot in the upcoming Olympics as an archer is funded by the Fitzpatricks.
These two are like oil and water from the word go, but slowly they come to realize that they are kindred spirits. We find out there’s more to the sexually promiscuous playboy than his good looks and the tiny red-headed spitfire has done the unthinkable—she’s taken residence in Hunter’s heart. Will he be ready to be in a committed relationship by the time the six months are up? Or will Hunter go back to his old bad boy ways, leaving Sailor’s heart torn up in pieces?

Fans of this amazing writing duo are in for another fun and steamy good time with ”MY FAVORITE SOUVENIR”. In an overly saturated genre, I sometimes feel like I am reading the same story, just with different characters, but that was not the case with this book. I fell in love instantly with the plot and the Hero & Heroine. Their willingness to throw caution to the wind and live a couple of weeks being utterly spontaneous made this a thoroughly entertaining read for me. Milo and Maddie’s insanely hot chemistry made the slow burn almost unbearably painful but it ended up being well worth the wait. I had the storyline clearly laid out in my mind before I got to the halfway mark and truly never expected the twist that the authors threw in. It turned a 4.5 star read into a five star one instead.

I’ve been a huge fan of the writing duo of Christina Lauren for years and there are so many of their books that I’ve loved something fierce. It’s probably unrealistic to expect every single book they write to be a hit. ”THE HONEY DON’T LIST” just may be the one book that didn't work for me. The story moves at an incredibly slow pace and the fact that most of the emphasis was placed on the rocky marriage of the secondary characters didn’t help matters. There was this little spark of chemistry between the main characters, James and Carey, but not enough time was spent on developing that connection which is why the romance felt artificial.
I’m sad that I couldn’t feel more for these characters and the plot, but nevertheless I will always gravitate towards anything these two write because they have written way too many hits for me to just write them off over one mediocre book.

FINALLY, we get a happy ending for one of Jewel E. Ann’s most beloved Heroes—Nathaniel Hunt. If you've read the first two books in the ”Transcend” series then you know and love this beautiful character. If you haven’t read them, now is a good time to get to this EPIC story. I have deep love and admiration for Jewel’s writing and am not exaggerating when I say that I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve when she releases a new book. ”FORTUITY” was a book that HAD to be written! Nate has suffered more than his share of devastating loss. In this last installment of the series we learn that it’s never too late to find true love.
I love it when authors take a chance and write about romances between characters over the age of forty. Nate and Gracelyn’s journey is a slow burn. I was beginning to think that their story would be angst-free and a steady road to an HEA but get ready to have your hearts and minds put through the wringer through the last 35-40 % of the story. They’re in what seems to be an impossible situation that has no room for compromises. It’s torture but when you get to the end, you’ll hopefully love this book as much as I do.

Every single book in this series has been an absolute pleasure to read. Meghan Quinn doesn’t seem to have it in her to write anything less than fabulous. ”THE TRADE” had the kind of slow burn that I love. The time it took for things to heat up between Cory and Natalie was a bit of sweet torture with never a dull moment. When they finally come together it was completely worth the wait. This is the one book in the series that didn’t drag out the angst. So for those of you who avoid angsty reads at all costs, I think you’ll find that you can handle the short amount of torment in this one.

There also wasn't a ton of laugh out loud moments, but the storyline and chemistry between Cory and Natalie were what made this one a winner! I hope that we get at least one or two more installments before we have to say goodbye to this series.

Butterflies fluttered in Rose’s belly at the thought of seeing Fionn again. Who knew it was possible to have such conflicting feelings for someone? Rose was still unbearably attracted to him, still felt protective toward him, and yet she was a furious, churning volcano of bitterness and resentment too. Rose had sacrificed herself to save Fionn’s life…and he wouldn’t even consider giving up his revenge for her.
Samantha Young’s newest series brings us into a paranormal world filled with Fae, Werewolves, Vampires, and Witches & Warlocks. She’s proven that her storytelling capabilities are not tied down to one specific genre. In ”KISS OF VENGEANCE” we dive deeper into the Fae world and are caught up in the slow burn romance between Fionn Mor and Rose Kelly. In the previous book, we were given a teaser to the story of the once human King of Ireland, and Aine, the Queen of the Fae. Aine was obsessed with Fionn and when he continuously rejected her, she turned him into the one thing he despised most of all—a Fae. Fionn is determined to open the gates to the Fae kingdom and exact his revenge on Aine. He needs the blood of a Fae to do so and is on a mission to find one of the three still in existence on earth.
Fionn stumbles across Rose by accident while on the hunt for the psychic Fae, Niamh. Up until their paths crossed, Rose did not know that supernatural beings truly existed nor that she was, in fact, one of the most powerful of them all. A blow to the head undoes a binding spell and slowly starts to unleash Rose’s powers. Fionn and Rose share an instant attraction – something so powerful neither of them has felt before. Rose has no idea that Fionn, who is helping to train her control her new-found abilities, has plans to end her life to finally get the vengeance he’s been waiting centuries for. He uses all of his self-control to keep his desires tamped down, while Rose grows increasingly impatient with his constant rejection. This back and forth between the two goes on for more than the entire first half of the book. The author took the slow burn to another level. Once things start to heat up between Fionn and Rose, the story becomes increasingly angsty, steamy and laced with fast-paced action! Best of all, we are reunited with Thea and Conall during the thrilling finale.
The next book, which centers around Kiyo and Niamh, promises to be another page-turner!

There’s not much that I didn’t love about ”JUST ONE YEAR” by Penelope Ward. The Hero is a gorgeous, charismatic exchange student from England. The Heroine is a beautiful introvert that has never had her heart wrapped up in a guy until she meets Caleb Yates—the foreign exchange student who has moved into her family's home. Caleb and Teagan’s first encounter is extremely embarrassing but was still a ”meet cute”. Their awkward beginning quickly turns into a close friendship that eventually sparks into a powerful attraction that Caleb is fiercely opposed to pursuing because he’d never willingly break Teagan’s heart. His life is in London and hers is in Boston. A long-distance relationship would never work, but Teagan has never felt so strongly about anyone until Caleb came into her life. She’s willing to risk certain heartbreak for the chance to be with the only man she’s ever fallen in love with.
Their story is heart-achingly angsty and it was pure torture waiting for Caleb and Teagan to finally let the pent up attraction take over. This is yet another book to add to my long list of favorites by this incredible author!
