Each time I finish reading a Jewel E. Ann book, I become more in awe of her as an author. The Life Duet is unlike anything I’ve ever read before. I inhaled this book. Once I picked it up, it was quite impossible to put down. It left me on the edge of my seat, wondering what was going to happen next. So many questions were spinning in my head. What you do learn early on is that there is an undeniable villain and there is incomprehensible betrayal, but the lines between right and wrong are blurred. I struggled with some of the stuff that happened. I knew it wasn’t right but Jewel spins it in such a unique way. I swear I’ve never read anything like this. It’s otherworldly!!
I loved the ending but really wish the content of the letters were revealed even though I get it was to avoid vilifying the two who I think deDRAMA!!!

My eyes fell shut, my breath stolen by the sensation of him filling the voids I’d ignored for so, so long. Here, in this place, everything made sense. Nothing was careless. Here, together, it was like going backward in time. We traveled to the days when those letters were being penned. To when happiness radiated around us.

”LETTERS TO MOLLY” is the bittersweet and angsty second chance romance between Molly and Finn Alcott, who you may remember from ”THE BIRTHDAY LIST”. They’re Poppy’s big brother and best-friend/sister-in-law, whose marital woes were just beginning as Poppy was finding new love. We are reunited with the couple who have been divorced for about six years. Molly and Finn have found a way to get past the animosity for the sake of their two children who they share custody of. It’s been six years since they ended their marriage. Irreparable damage has been inflicted but yet neither has been able to move on to new love. Everyone else can see the longing looks they cast each other's way but these two are too stubborn to let go of the past.
After a night of movies with the kids and a little too much wine, Finn and Molly end up having an incredible night of sex, but the harsh light of day has them both backpedaling and declaring their night of lust a mistake. Soon after their night together, Molly starts to receive letters in her mailbox that Finn had written to her over the course of their relationship. The letters open up old wounds and begin to break down the walls that they each put up between them. There is also a mystery to solve as Finn isn’t the one sending the letters. Dread is all he feels because he knows that not every letter was written when he and Molly were in a good place.
Have these two hurt each other so much that there’s no hope for forgiveness and a second chance? When tragedy strikes the Alcott family again, will it tear them apart forever this time?

Finn and Molly’s story is incredibly angsty and filled with so much heartbreaking sadness. It was a serious page-turner! I couldn’t put this one down until I finished it at 4 AM this morning!! I wasn’t sure that ”The Birthday List” could be topped, but then Devney Perry goes and proved me wrong!

My heart was forever severed, destined to exist in two equal halves—one with each man. But one half beat stronger, one half had the vein that ran deepest, and one half held my choice in silence well before I ever admitted it out loud.
The other half would always be a part of me, but in a softer way—a more subdued beating, a quieter presence, a different kind of life support.
A different kind of love.
I’m still reeling from the roller coaster of emotions this story made me suffer through. This was simply one FANTASTIC series!! The angst was unbearable at times but the outcome was so worth the torture. In the first half of the duet, I thought I knew which man deserved to be with Charlie but by the end of it, a little seed of doubt had been planted in my mind. From the beginning of this second half of the duet, my mind and heart had picked the guy, and although I often felt that he was too good for Charlie, I did want him to be happy and only Charlie was going to make that happen for him! The plot development helped me decide early on how I wanted the story to end and I am thankful for that because I don’t think my heart could have taken being torn down the middle the way Charlie's was.
Reese and Cameron are each determined to win Charlie’s heart. She loves both of them but knows that in two months, she’ll have to break one of their hearts when she has to let them go. It’s a slow and painful kind of torture for her. Although during book one I had sympathy for her, in this second half of the story I thought she was selfish and even a bit cruel. If it were up to me, I would have had her lose both men.
To give any more details would definitely be considered a spoiler. All I can tell you is that I am happy with how it turned out and if my guy weren't chosen, this would have been a four instead of a five-star read. I will say that towards the end I thought Charlie was going to choose wrong and tears were streaming down my face! The author was just a little evil for throwing that curveball in there like that!!

Reese shook his head with a lazy smile, tucking his hands in his pockets. Then, he looked at me. I never knew so much could be said with a look. Sure, I was in tune with Cameron, or at least, I had been. We could share a look and communicate a hundred different things. But with Reese, there were no words behind the gaze. There were feelings. There was heat, and concern—want and denial. And I was like a moth drawn to that flame, wanting so badly to see inside it, to figure out how it burns, to live within its warmth. But I knew to touch it was to die.
FANTASTIC!! I was completely consumed by this story. This is not for the faint of heart and those of you who can’t do love triangles and cheating will probably want to avoid this book. I think it would be a travesty not to read this one but I do understand about having hard limits. My heart and mind were so twisted throughout the journey of the main characters that I had a tough time figuring out who was to blame. In most love triangles there usually is that one character that you can easily find fault with, but the author really blew that all away by the time we get to the end of this installment. There truly are three sides to this story and while I feel they all had to shoulder some of the blame, I had a difficult time deciding which man Charlie should end up with in the beginning. As the story unfolds I was starting to have a clear picture of who the right guy was, but then BAM that ending left me right back at square one!!
Charlie Pierce lived a charmed life when she married her college sweetheart. Cameron wasn’t a man who was good with expressing himself with words but his actions spoke volumes about the love he felt for his wife. Three years into their marriage the couple suffers a devastating loss and they were never the same after it. For five years they’ve been merely existing. Each of them just a shell of the person they used to be, but Charlie loves her husband desperately and yearns to get back what they once shared. Then on her first day back to work at Westchester Prep, a blast from the past comes barreling back into her life.
Reese Walker was Charlie’s older brother’s best friend and the boy next door. She had been in love with him from an early age but back then their five year age difference kept them from being anything more than friends. Reese was always captivated by Charlie but knew that it wasn’t their time back then. When he went off to college in New York, they lost touch for nearly fifteen years. A few years back, Reese lost his parents and sister to a horrific act of violence. His grief had turned him into a lost soul without a place to call ”home”. Then he gets a teaching job in the town he grew up in and he takes it hoping that it will help give him some feeling of peace to be back where his family had set up roots. He had hoped he’d run into the girl who had stolen his heart all those years ago but never imagined she would be working at the same school as him.
All those years apart have not been able to diminish the feelings that Reese has had for Charlie but learning that she’s married was a huge disappointment, to say the least. Charlie starts off being the ”devoted wife” even when it’s been years since her marriage has been stable and her husband, Cameron seems to have become married to his work instead of an active partner in their relationship. But as Cameron continues to neglect his wife, she ends up turning to Reese for comfort.
The story ramps up with the angst and I can’t deny that it was severely gut-wrenching. Throughout almost the entire first part of this duet, we get alternating POVs between Charlie and Reese, which had me leaning towards Reese as the chosen Hero, but there was always this small part of me that was thinking that maybe it would be great to actually get inside Cameron’s head as well. I felt like it wasn’t fair to pass judgment on him when we couldn’t get his side of the story. We get pieces of him through Charlie’s voice and things we learn did have me wondering if there was so much more to Cameron.
After having finished the book, my heart is more confused than ever! I’m not sure who Charlie should end up with and I gotta say I was empathizing with her until she did something that pissed me off towards the latter half of the story. Even though she does feel remorse over what she did afterward, I’m having trouble forgiving her at the moment!

”THRIVE” is the sexy action-packed second installment of the ”Guardian Protection” series. Its trope is one of my top favorites--second chance romance. There is cheating involved but the fact that everyone involved is guilty of infidelity should make it easier for those who normally steer clear of this topic. I really enjoyed this one a bit more than the previous book.
Jeremy Lark and Mira York became the best of friends nearly twenty years ago while Jeremy was an Army Ranger and Mira was dating his best friend Kurt. Kurt was a spoiled rich kid that Jeremy has known since his early childhood years. He’s not the greatest guy and fidelity is a word that has never been a part of his vocabulary. During the many nights that Kurt was off cheating with different women, Jeremy and Mira would hang out as friends and talk about their hopes and dreams. Eventually, things turned intimate and they each had no clue that what was building between them was for more than just physical attraction. You’d think that after spending so much time together and throughout the many conversations they shared that they would have discussed their feelings, but that never happened. When they are ultimately confronted by Kurt and Mira is asked to choose between them, fear of not being loved by Jeremy has her picking the wrong man.
Jeremy hit rock bottom after Mira’s rejection. It wasn’t until he crossed paths with the co-founders of the Guardian Protection agency that his life took a turn for the better. But no matter how hard he tried, even marrying another woman…he couldn’t get over the one woman that took a piece of his soul. He feels as if his world his tipped off its axis when he gets a call out of the blue from Mira asking for his help.
The last seventeen years have not been easy or happy for Mira. She knew from the moment she chose to stay with Kurt, that it had been the biggest mistake of her life. Kurt got kicked out of the army and soon after turned to a life of crime which unbeknownst to Mira, he hadn’t kept her safe from his dirty dealings. After almost sixteen years of marriage, Mira finally divorces Kurt, but he’s not done infecting her life when one morning she wakes up with a gun to her head being held by one of her ex’s business associates. He kidnaps her little chihuahua and best friend and gives her three days to launder $750,000 or they wind up dead. Feeling overwhelmed, she can only think of one person to turn to. The man that she has never stopped loving--Jeremy.
Jeremy is anything but warm and comforting at first. He’s got almost twenty years of pent-up hurt and anger towards Mira. To survive his heartbreak, he had to turn to hate. His cold demeanor is like a knife through Mira's heart. As the story progresses we learn that Kurt pissed off some very powerful criminals and Mira is in far worse danger than they initially were led to believe.
As Jeremy and Mira are forced to spend an enormous amount of time together, the hurt and anger start to subside, will they be able to confess their true feelings for each other? Will the couple get their second chance when there are threats against Mira’s life lurking around every corner?
Here are my overall ratings on the book:

BREATHTAKING! That is only one amongst many words I would use to describe this book. There’s a reason why Jewel E Ann is one of my top favorite authors. Her writing is flawless. It evokes so many emotions from me. At times I laughed and when I thought I couldn’t fly any higher on a cloud of happiness, the story goes down a different path that shattered my heart and left me unable to feel anything but numbness from grief. And because Jewel is such a gifted writer she was able to piece back my broken heart with where the story takes us next.
I can’t even begin to express just how much I loved this story. To say that I consider it one of the “Best of 2017” still wouldn’t do it justice! What I can say without a doubt is that I think EVERYONE should read this book and if I could, I would gift a copy to all of you. This book is a treasure and one that you should go into truly blind. I would be doing everyone an injustice if I revealed even the tiniest bit about the plot. All I can say is that I loved the spunky heroine for her vivacious personality and even for her imperfections! There’s another character in here that stole my heart and well he comes really close to being my favorite of all of Jewel’s heroes. My biggest fear is that this book may have ruined me for all others to come after it!
WHEN LIFE HAPPENED releases on June 5th! Set a reminder for yourselves. You need this book in your lives!! I can’t wait for you all to get a chance to read this one of a kind story!

From the moment I learned that Mia Asher was writing a new book, I had been anxious to get my hands on it. Firstly, I want to just give high praise for one of the sexiest and BEST covers I have seen in quite some time! It only proved to deepen my desire for this book! What I’ve come to know about this author is that she writes messy, complicated and angsty romances like no other!! But in this particular story, her words are nothing less than exquisite – they simply took my breath away. I was completely consumed with this book! I fell hard for the beautiful Sebastien Leroux!
Valentina Fitzpatrick has been a loving and devoted wife to her husband of nearly twelve years. Their relationship has had its ups and downs but it nearly ended over a year ago when she caught her husband in the act of adultery with one of his interns. The pain from his deceit still lingers in her heart even though she chose to fight for her marriage. Valentina’s weakness is the love that she still has for her husband, William. As an attempt to start over, William asks Valentina to come with him on a business trip to Paris. Once his business meetings are over, he promised her that they would take some time to be alone together and hopefully rekindle the romance that used to consume them. Ultimately Valentina ends up in Paris alone when William is unable to make the trip. This only succeeds in making her feel even more despondent when it comes to her marriage. Valentina is finding it hard not to suspect that maybe her husband is having another affair. So she decides to stay in Paris and take this time away from William to re-evaluate their relationship.
During her first week in Paris, she ends up crashing a private party at an art exhibit and is mesmerized by one of the paintings. Just as she’s about to be thrown out for trespassing, a handsome stranger comes to her rescue by pretending to be her boyfriend. He ends up kissing her and it nearly knocks the wind right out of her. Valentina is captivated by this gorgeous man with the most incredible blue eyes. Fate keeps throwing these two in each other’s paths. They end up running into each other several times and as luck would have it, Sebastien turns out to be not only her upstairs neighbor but also the artist of the painting that she fell in love with.
Sebastien is quite well known for his spectacular skills in the bedroom. He uses sex as a balm to ease his pain. Years ago he lost his one true love and has yet to fully recover from that heartbreak, but something about Valentina breathes new life into his cold heart. Being around her seems to soothe him better than any of his old vices.
Sebastien and Valentina end up teetering on a fine line between restraint and giving in to their all-consuming desire for one another. But it’s Valentina’s need to clean up her mess of a life first, before delving into anything new with Sebastien that ends up preventing them from crossing that line.
When Valentina is ultimately forced to choose between her past life and the uncertain yet possibly exhilarating future with Sebastien – will she make the right decision? Or will she end up picking the wrong man which would destroy not only her life but that of the one who truly loves her?

”One day you were my friend, and then you became something completely different. Because I wanted you. Because even when it was wrong—and you were only seventeen years old—I wanted you.”
It’s been a while since I read a book where the subject of cheating was the main theme of the story. There’s only been one cheater that I rooted for to get the girl in the end but that man definitely deserved a swift kick in the nuts for his infidelities. Lucas Thorne, however, is a "cheater" that will slowly but surely win your heart as you progress through the pages of this thoroughly engaging story. At first, I was thinking this guy is a real douche and there’s no way I’m going to end up liking this book, but as his story is revealed, I started to root for the two main characters to ride off into the sunset together.
Lucas is a very attractive and successful businessman, who has a strong aversion to commitment. He has an ongoing relationship with seven different women, who each see him on separate days of the week, except for Sundays, which is the day of the week he devotes to his older sister. Life is great as far as he’s concerned. He’s got the best sex life with women who know about his arrangements and that there can never be any kind of serious relationship between them. For some reason every woman is fine with this setup and even when they end up choosing to break things off, it always ends amicably. But was Lucas always this cavalier with his interactions with women? It turns out only five years ago, he was engaged to his high school sweetheart, but on the night before the wedding, he was caught in bed with his fiance’s sister. From that moment on, he was deemed a ”cheater”, and it’s why he has never attempted to be in a serious relationship since. He’s about to get a serious wake-up call!
Avery Black has just lost her dream job and she is desperate to find employment because there is no way she wants to be forced to move back into her parent’s house while her evil and conniving sister is still living there. She ends up finding a paid internship. She will be the executive assistant of one of the VPs of the company. Turns out she happens to know her new boss better than most people. Lucas is her boss, but he’s also the douchebag who cheated on her sister, Kayla, the night before their wedding, with her other sister, Brooke. The two have this strong chemistry between them and even though it seems their relationship has turned volatile, you just know this is going to be a hotter than hell enemies-to-lovers romance.
Back in the day, Lucas and Avery were very close. They were best friends. Lucas was always like a big brother to Avery. He was there to wipe her tears whenever someone hurt her feelings. He would offer her advice when she turned to him for help. It wasn’t until she turned seventeen, that he started to see her as more than a little sister. Lucas was battling some intense feelings for Avery, and she was just as into him, if not more. Avery always lived in the shadows of her older sisters. She never thought she measured up to them. She had a huge crush on Lucas and dreamed that he would fall in love with her instead of her older sister. Little did she know that she might have been the only woman that ever truly owned his heart and that the truth about what happened that night before the wedding, had never been what her sister had claimed.
I loved both Lucas and Avery. Lucas was a seriously swoon-worthy and charming Hero. Even with his skewed outlook on his no strings relationships, he was never portrayed as a heartless, cheating whore. The women he spent time with were very different in many ways and he appreciated them for their individuality. What happened in the past severely messed with his head and it becomes clear that it affected him deeply. Avery was a total spitfire and I loved the heated banter between her and Lucas. Even while she claims to hate him, she doesn’t hesitate to come to his defense, which lands them both in an uncomfortable situation with their families. But the heat between these two only intensifies and I was unable to put this book down until I could get to the very last page.
I know there are some of you who don’t read books about cheating, but I hope that you’ll give this one a chance. I promise you, there is so much more to this story! It was angsty, hilarious, and downright steamy!!

All I knew was in this moment, I felt whole again. This girl filled something up in me I didn’t understand; something I never thought possible and something I didn’t realize was necessary for me to thrive, but there it was.
This book completely took me by surprise and I mean that in the most fabulous way possible! I had heard great things about some of Adriane Leigh’s works but I never had the pleasure of reading anything by her and I am so happy that I got the chance to review this amazing book. It turns out this isn’t a new story by the author. She combined her books The Mourning After and Light In The Morning, which were published back in 2013, threw in a few extra scenes and re-titled this standalone as Sweet Alibi. I will be honest, the first 20% dragged for me and let me tell you this book is seriously long because remember she combined two books into one. I didn’t like the Heroine and I wasn’t sure what was all so special about the Hero either, except for the fact that he was devastatingly gorgeous. But my total outlook and interest in the story changed at that first kiss right around the 20% mark. From then on, all bets were off and I was reeled in, hook, line, and sinker!!
I am a reader who loves angst. The more gut-wrenching, the better!! I felt torn up so many times during this story, I must say that if I didn’t buddy read this, I would have needed a stiff drink or two!! So the author had this reader eating out of the palm of her hand!! There is a love triangle and of course that means there is cheating as well. For me, as in most stories with this trope, I always have my guy picked out, so there was never any question in my mind as to which guy should end up with the girl, and I didn’t feel the least bit bad for the guy who loses her. I am not one to shy away from love triangles, but if this is not your cuppa, I don’t think you will enjoy the book although I do have to say I think you’re missing out by not picking this one up.
Georgia Montgomery has just bought a beautiful summer beach home in North Carolina. She and her two best friends will be spending the entire summer there fixing it up so that she can turn it into a rental property. She leaves her boyfriend behind back in D.C. because he’s a lawyer with a ridiculous work schedule that doesn’t allow him to take a vacation. It’s obvious that something is haunting Georgia and that part of the reason that she chose to spend the summer in North Carolina has to do with her relationship with her boyfriend.
Her bestie ends up bringing along her new boyfriend and his friend, Tristan, who is beyond gorgeous. This guy is known as a player and basically has women falling all over him wherever he goes. When Georgia and Tristan meet, there is something sparking between them and things may start off platonic but will spiral out of control when the two give in to their desires. That first kiss just about knocked me out and I was rooting for these two from that moment on. So much of what transpires between Tristan and Georgia reminded me of THOUGHTLESS, which happens to still be one of my all-time favorite books. I found myself comparing a lot of the scenes, but still this story had many elements that made it unique as well.
Georgia was a heroine that was hard for me to warm up to. It took quite a while actually. I hated her every time she messed with Tristan’s head and heart. She definitely needed a serious ass kicking! I just couldn’t understand why she was so dense. I get that she knew about Tristan’s past with women and was afraid he'd end up hurting her, but it was so obvious who the right guy was for her!!
I have to warn you that Tristan is going to steal your hearts ladies!! He has that charisma that will sweep you off your feet and my god, how he loved Georgia!! It seriously made my heart ache for him. And he is INSATIABLE!! This guy will melt your panties with very little effort. Fanning myself just thinking about him!!
This story will keep you on your toes. Never assume all is well because the author throws in twists that make your stomach drop and question how Tristan and Georgia will ever have an HEA by the time you get to the end.
SWEET ALIBIis available now! I thoroughly enjoyed it and give it my highest recommendation!! To those of you who have a strong heart and love for painful angst, this book is definitely one to put on your soon to read list!!

Love had made everything brighter, my smile bigger, my days longer. Every secret smile from him, every stolen touch, had been a shot of happiness. Every night we’d spent together had been a step deeper into our friendship, a cut deeper into my heart.
I’m going to be honest and say that I didn’t pay close attention to the blurb for this one. From the moment I saw the cover, I was in love!! I desperately wanted to get my hands on this book because I really am a nut for sports themed romances, but this turned out to be so much more. It was a steamy erotic thriller that had me on the edge of my seat near the end!! The beginning seemed to be a little odd for my taste, but once the Hero and Heroine come face to face in the Yankees locker room, I was a goner.
Chase Stern is the hottest baseball player in the MLB and his dream is to get signed on with the Yankees. He’s got a serious bad boy reputation but his stats in the game of baseball are beyond stellar. Eventually, the Yankees come calling on him. This is music to one young woman’s ears. Ty is the seventeen-year-old daughter to Yankees pitcher, Frank Rollins. Since the death of her mother when she was a young girl, Ty has become a permanent fixture with the Yankee franchise. Ty works part time as a bat girl and all around gopher for the guys on the team. Her love of the game and for the Yankees runs deep in her blood. She knows that Chase can bring a long overdue World Series win for her beloved team. Ty also may be harboring a little crush on Chase, which her father is none too happy about.
Knowing that her father is concerned about the possibility of Chase coming on to her, Ty tries to keep her distance, but these two end up having a very hot first encounter and no matter how hard they try, they’ll find it hard to stay away from each other. Chase has never had deep feelings for a woman but something about Ty calls to him and soon she ends up owning his heart. The two sneak around in order to spend time with each other and agree to take things slow due to Ty’s age but every base they reach together had me panting for more!! All the while I had a sneaking suspicion that something was about to tear this couple apart and I felt like pulling my hair out when I turned out to be right!!
They end up going their separate ways and my heart felt as if it were being ripped out and stomped on. Four years later, fate will reunite them when Chase returns to the Yankees, but Ty isn’t free to run back into his arms. The years apart has not helped either get over the love they have for each other, if anything it all comes rushing back and then some, the moment they come face to face again. When they are finally able to give in to their passion there is no way that that Ty can go back to living the lie that she had been for so long.
This is an angst-filled, fast-paced and steamy thriller that will have you on the edge of your seats! You will be trying to solve the mystery but I’d be amazed if anyone figures this one out until the big reveal. I thought I had the answers but the joke was on me by the time we find out the truth! A very entertaining and sexy read! I highly recommend it!!!
This is the second series that I've been lucky enough to receive as an ARC from Angelica Chase and I honestly think this woman knows how to write truly decadently steamy reads!! OMG, someone hose me down with ice cold water because I just read one of the sexiest stories ever. This is surely going to make your panties melt right off ladies!!
Nina Scott became a self made millionaire when she developed a very successful fitness/weight loss program. She doesn't seem to have much luck in the love department. Her ex husband turned out to be an adulterer and the man she fell in love with afterwards, failed to mention that he was married.
The story begins with some pretty steamy bathroom sex. Even though we learn early on that Devin is Nina's ex-boyfriend, who also happens to be married, I still couldn't help but develop a little bit of a crush on him. This guy is the epitome of the sexy and controlling bad boy!
Later on Nina meets another gorgeous and sexy man at a bar on the beach. Who seriously has this kind of luck anyway!!???? Aiden is the owner of the bar, and he also happens to be the lead singer of a local band. One of my favorite types of book boyfriends are the rock gods!! So I instantly forgot all about Devin once Aiden came into the picture. The man knows how to heat things up in the bedroom, and in umm, ALLEY WAYS!! HOLY SHIT, I'm still thinking about that last scene!! WOWZERS!!
There is definitely something fishy going on with Devin. He used to handle Nina's investments and something seems very shady about a certain real estate deal. But in the back of my mind I kept thinking maybe there is more to Devin than what has been revealed so far to us. Maybe he's not a complete douche bag. While I was falling hard for Aiden, I had some concerns about the fact that he seemed TOO PERFECT. He's not very forthcoming with details about himself which leads me to believe he's got some serious skeletons in his closet.
This one ends with some shocking news. Not a crazy cliffy, but still, I never even saw that coming!! It will be interesting to see which man turns out to be the right guy for Nina. I know who I want her to end up with!! I am assuming that this is going to be a love triangle but I honestly didn't get that vibe from this first installment. There was clearly one guy that Nina was favoring but after that bomb was dropped at the end, I'm thinking things are going to get majorly complicated in book two.
Oh and we get reunited with some characters from "The Sexual Awakenings" series too!! :)...more
She was my greatest pain, and my only salvation. She was the only one who could heal this hole in my heart*****FOUR STARS***** {BR with Mel and Sharon}
She was my greatest pain, and my only salvation. She was the only one who could heal this hole in my heart, a hole she'd torn open.
This was a really hard read for me. I know that I must be just a touch sadistic to have read the series FOUR times, but Kellan truly is my #1 and he's worth the torture. When I finished reading "Reckless" two years ago, I sent an email to S.C. Stephens, just gushing over the book and BEGGING her to write "Thoughtless" over in Kellan's POV. I was not ready to let him go. I really wanted to know what was going on in his head during all the turmoil, and where did he go all those times he disappeared for days. Well I definitely got what I wished for. I just am a little sad that the Kellan we get in this one, thinks so little of himself and is filled with so much self loathing. I struggled at times with his inner monologues.
Why can't you love me like I love you? Why can't anyone? How awful am I?
These self deprecating inner monologues seem to go on for a very long time during the first half of the book. My heart was breaking so much for Kellan. Honestly, I understand why he thought so little of himself. He went his entire life without ever having been loved. I guess that's one of the many reasons I love Kellan so much. He could have turned into a real asshole because of the abuse he endured as a child, but no, he became this incredible guy that gave up his heart and soul for the one woman he truly loved. I just had a hard time with Kellan's self loathing thoughts. I didn't ever remember Kellan being that desperate in the previous books, and I mean, I just reread them this past week.
I did end up hating Kiera even more in this one. I'm sure there will be plenty of people who will have an even more intense hatred for her. Now that I know how badly she hurt him repeatedly, I am definitely not feeling any sort of sympathy for her.
The first half of the book, I was feeling so depressed. I was so certain this was going to be a five star read for me, but Kellan being so desperate to take any scraps of attention Kiera would throw his way, really just bugged the ever loving crap out of me. THANK GOD the second half of the book was much better and turned things around for me. Once Kellan stopped being such a door mat, I could breathe a sigh of relief.
There were some scenes that had me crying like a baby. The "goodbye" song he wrote for Kiera. The talk between Evan and Kellan at the hospital!!! Kellan had a family all along. His band mates loved him like a brother. They were there for him during some of his dark days.
I know sometimes when a book is retold in the other main character's POV, it almost seems like we're just getting the story regurgitated, but I didn't get that feeling at all. I loved experiencing the story through Kellan's perspective and there were plenty of scenes we never got in "Thoughtless", and man were some scenes very painful to relive in Kellan's POV, like the fight in the rain.
I'm so happy that S.C. Stephens gave us readers this opportunity to reunite with Kellan and no matter what he will always be my #1. ...more
I can't believe just how much this story has affected me!! I'm sitting here blown away by how much I absolutely LOVED it! Angst is something that does not scare me. I crave it!!!! This one had an abundance of ANGST. My heart broke time and time again.
This is the heartbreaking story of Cooper and Kylie Bailey. They have suffered the most painful loss imaginable. Their daughter died while Kylie was giving birth to her. Cooper and Kylie were once a couple who had it all and who were truly, madly, and deeply in love. Kayla's death rips these two apart. They've both been so devastated by it that they fail to be there for each other. Cooper feels like he failed his wife because he couldn't save their daughter and couldn't be the rock she needed to help her through. Kylie let her grief take over and it was almost as if she died with little Kayla.
I felt that pain and that grief for these two!! Months go by and Kylie tries to make a connection with Coop, but he keeps pushing her away. After being rejected so many times, Kylie loses her mind, and proposes that the two make their marriage an open one, so that they both can find physical connections with other people. The rules are, they always are to come home every night to each other, and they are not to get involved with each other's friends.
I'm thinking right from the start, this is a BAD idea!! This is not going to help them get over their loss and bring them back together.
The story starts out with it being two years into this "Open Marriage" arrangement. It's obvious neither is very happy. Thank goodness the story is told in DUAL POVs because it was so beneficial to get inside both of their heads.
Things really get heated when Cooper's best friend, Grayson, makes his feelings known for Kylie. He's been her rock the past two years but now he wants to be more. He's done watching Cooper break her heart over and over. Gray wants to swoop in and have his shot at love with Kylie.
What will Coop do? The man who seems indifferent to his wife.
There are so many heart breaking moments and I cried several times. This is definitely a story in which you'll need to have a box of tissues handy.
I never once hated Kylie or Cooper. I was able to empathize with the both of them.
The sexy time is also SCORCHING, SIZZLING HOT!!!
I fell HARD for COOP!! If the role of PRESIDENT for TEAM COOPER is open, I'd like to nominate myself!! He had me both SWOONING and CRYING!!
Angie's writing was FLAWLESS and boy the way she tells a story doesn't make you feel like you're an outsider looking in. NO! She made me feel like I was experiencing the love, pain, sorrow, and joy first hand!!!
I give a lot of books 5's but honestly, I don't always say that there aren't enough STARs to describe how much I LOVED the book!! This book is definitely going in my TOP TEN of 2014!!
Yes, you know from my review, this is about cheating, and sort of a triangle, but damn if it wasn't just about the most PERFECT story I've read so far!!!!
Angie is definitely an author I will be following and would advise you all to take notice of her!!! I will be one clicking anything this lady publishes!!
"I need you. I need you there. I know you're struggling. I know, but you're my air right now. If you're not there, I'm going to suffocate. Please don't do this to me. Please, I can't do this on my own." - Cooper
Things between us are broken, but I know without a doubt that I love him with all that's in me. I always have. - Kylie
He is the only man I've ever loved, the only man I've ever allowed inside my body and heart. I've carried his child within me, and the love I feel for him is interwoven with my very identity. Without him, I'm nothing. - Kylie
I'm overcome with emotion as I gaze at her. She's the answer to my every prayer, need, and want. - Cooper
My heart is this girl's for the taking. I want to make her happy. I want her to feel every ounce of love I have for her. She keeps me breathing. - Cooper ...more

(BR with Melissa❤️❤️❤️) I'm going to wait at least till the weekend to post a review so as not to spoil it for anyone.
I just want to say I love you Kyla Linde!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HEALING MY HEART!!!
OK...so here I go and this may be a long one because I FUCKING LOVED this finale to the series!!
I, along with many other women waited well over a year for this book to come out. This is definitely a story that will definitely make you go through the most unbearable angst you will ever have to endure. There are three men in this book that lucky Lexi is or has been involved with and will have to ultimately choose who to end up with. What a lucky bitch that Lexi is!!!
Everyone has their favorite man and they aren't afraid to say what team they're on. And holy hell, will these women fight to the death over a fictional character!! I've never seen so much drama play out on Facebook EVER!!!
We knew Lexi would have to end up with one man at the end of this book. Whomever she picked, there were going to be plenty of women who were ECSTATIC, and PLENTY of women HEARTBROKEN. So heartbroken and pissed off, that they'd rate this book LOW and DARE to even return their ebooks for a refund. (SHAME ON THOSE WOMEN!!)
I was nervous a few weeks leading up to this book release. I vowed to get shit faced if my guy ended up losing Lexi again! I vowed to drive 40 miles to Jen's house so that we could cry together!!
I prayed so hard that Kyla would do right by us ladies. We suffered through two books of heart break. We never faltered in our love of all things Jack. We all had faith in him. That he could turn things around and redeem himself. So when his POV came out, my hopes were even higher!! That POV depicted the Jack all of us Jack Packers adored!!
Here's where I am going to give the story away, so now's the time to close out of my review if you haven't read this book yet!!
(view spoiler)[OMFG HALLELUJAH!!!!! OUR JACK GETS THE GIRL!!!! I loved this entire book! I loved how Jack changed. He grew up and this time he was in it for the long haul. He gave Lexi the space she needed. Jack went about it the right way and he got her back by building up the friendship that they started out with. It took two more years but I think they needed this time. He had to prove to Lexi that without a doubt, he was a changed man and that his feelings were true and would never falter again. Lexi needed to see the change in him and she needed to come to the realization on her own, that although she loved Ramsey, that he wasn't the man for her. He had been at one time, but that was no longer true. He served his purpose.
Oh I'm not dancing on Ramsey's grave!! NO!! I really loved Ramsey too and it utterly broke my heart when Lexi broke off the engagement and gave him back the ring. To read that tears were falling down his cheeks and that she could see his heart breaking, that KILLED me!! I think he was a great guy, just not THE guy for her. I only wished that Kyla had written an epilogue, and let us know that he was OK and that he found REAL TRUE LOVE with a GREAT GAL...not Parker!! Parker irritated me and after that crap with the miscarriage papers, I knew she was not good enough for Ramsey.
I LOVED that FINALLY Bitch Bekah got what was coming to her!! May she ROT IN HELL! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'd dance on her grave any day!!!
I don't agree with anyone who said Jack didn't do enough to win Lexi back. I think he went about it the right way. He did it over a long period of time to prove the changes in him were for good. In reality that's all we need. We need to know that that man is genuine. That he is in it for the long haul. That he loves us completely and will be there for us through the good and bad times. He's not promising that it will always be perfect, but he promises to stick with her till the end and to fight to keep them together.
I would love to see a spin off for Ramsey and maybe even John. John needs someone to come in and tame his ass!! LOL (hide spoiler)]
So that is why my rating is still a PERFECT TEN!! I will forever cherish this series. The only books that have ever made me want to break my iPAD, which is my most valued & treasured possession!! :)
Oh and of course having Kellan and the DBags around in this one helped to make it even more special!!
I will leave off with some of my favorite quotes from this book! I highlighted so many throughout!!
"To be honest, I've given it up for less. The chase is getting me to commit. While you don't know my past, the first thing you should know is that I avoid commitment at all costs." - Lexi
That Sienna was a lucky bitch if she were fucking the lead singer because he was quite possibly one of the sexiest men on the planet.Lexi was sure she would use a pass with Ramsey to get to Kellan Kyle.
That song always sounded like someone had written it with a specific person in mind. It was so emotional, tugging at her heart and forcing her to feel every powerful, heart-wrenching word.
As his blue eyes found her in the crowd, she knew that there would forever be a pull between them--a magnetic, inexplicable pull. If she kept fighting it, then she would only be putting all of her energy into pushing something away that kept crashing into her life and not focusing on the life she was currently living.
"Lexi, whether or not Stella seduced me and I told her no five million times did not matter to me because I let you down that night. You were right. We were different. And then I slept with her. No matter what happened to get me there...that was still the outcome. I didn't deserve you."
"You shouldn't be around me anymore. You shouldn't want to, Lex. Because all I see when I look at you is the woman I love, the woman I want to take home with me, the woman who I've spent damn near ten years messing things up with. And you should stay away because I know I'd do it all over again."
"I gave it a shot, Lex. I gave you your space. I let you be happy. That's what you said you wanted."He gripped her hand a little harder."How did that work out? Are you happy? Are you happy without me?"
" Let me try to get this out. I...I had this idea in my head that it would never work out between us. I wanted it. I really fucking wanted it. But I just couldn't see it happening, Lex."
"Well, look, I pushed so hard that I married someone without that passion, without the burning drive, and it's all fucked-up, too, Lex. It didn't matter that my parents loved each other because they let that love die. I never had it with Bekah...I've only had it with you. And I don't want to let it die, Lex. Not ever."
"When you landed on my doorstep last week, you asked me what you should do,"he reminded her."I asked you the same question on my wedding day. You should have told me to walk away. You should have told me to leave her. That's what you should have told me. I think all along it was what I wanted to hear. I made the mistake...and I don't want you to make the same one."
"Seth has always said that you're my girl. Well...I'm your guy. I always have been. I've just been too damn scared to do anything about it. But I'll be damned if I let you slip through my fingers again. I'm yours. You're mine. Just...be mine."
"Nothing is ever easy with us, but that doesn't mean it's not worth fighting for. The best things in life are worth fighting for, and you're the best thing I've ever had in my life."
"I don't want it to be easy. I just want it to be right, and the only way it's ever going to be right is with you."
"I think you're right. Your feelings for people do change with time. You might need someone for one reason, and then when that reason is obsolete, you might not need that person anymore. People come in and out of your life all the time. They shape and mold you like clay, and then water washes away the edges." - Lexi
"I already have one that belongs to me. It was saved for me before I even knew who you were." - Lexi
"My heart belongs to you," she told him."You took it a long time ago and never gave it back." "And I'm never going to,"he said.
"I don't want to erase those memories. They keep us on the straight and narrow. They remind us where we went wrong and where to go from here. They kept us together,'he said."You and I, Lex, we'll always be unfinished business." ...more
Most of my friends know this series is my #1 FAVE series of all time. Kellan Kyle is nothing less than PERFECT in my eyes. I have loved no other book boyfriend more than him. Some have come close, but none have been able to dethrone him.
This book is beyond angsty and I know that some think I am crazy to have read this 4 times. All I can say is that Kellan is worth all the heart break and suffering. I was supposed to BR this with my Bestie, but she has been so busy with work and the angst from this book was putting her over the edge, and so she bailed out. I completely understood. This is not an easy read.
The last time I read "Thoughtless", I said that I understood Kiera. Yea, if I was in this situation, which God I wish I was, I would have fallen for Kellan instantly. BUT, I would have let Denny go right away. Even though he messed up by taking that job in Arizona, he still didn't deserve the betrayal by Kiera and Kellan. Kellan definitely wasn't an angel, but he's my #1 and so I'm not even going to attempt to crucify him in my review.
This one was so unbelievably heart breaking because of how Kiera's selfishness tore Kellan apart. The girl definitely wanted to have her cake and eat it too, and she did have it for quite a while.
There are so many things that I love about Kellan. He grew up, never knowing what it was like to be loved. All he ever received from his parents was abuse and contempt. Yet, as soon as he met Kiera, this man fell so deeply in love and did so many amazingly beautiful things for her. He was so desperately in love with her that he'd take what little she would give him. This might make him sound like a weak character, but the way S.C. Stephens depicted Kellan, it only made him so much more the swoonworthy book boyfriend!
"What if I don't choose you, Kellan? What will you do?"
"I'll leave, Kiera. I'll leave, and you and Denny can have your happily ever after. You wouldn't even need to tell him about me. Eventually, the two of you.....the two of you would get married, and have children, and have a great life."
"And you? What happens to you in that scenario?"
"I...get by. And I miss you, every day," he whispered.
I die a little every time I read that scene!! GAH!!
Well I am so very excited than in five days I'm finally going to get inside Kellan's head when "Thoughtful" is released. I'm not expecting it to be an easy read, but I am so very happy to get to spend more time with my beautiful book boyfriend!!
I've read this book for the third time and it truly does get better each time. I fall more in love with Kellan. He's just that perfect!! I really hated Kiera when I first read this book but I feel like I understand her now. She was in this really impossible situation. It's quite impossible not to fall in love with Kellan and I realize at the same time how hard it would be to have to hurt someone as wonderful as Denny. He was her first love, her comfort. I think the only thing I find fault with Kiera is when she had sex with Denny right after professing her love to Kellan. Other than that I completely sympathize with Kiera. I truly love this series. It brings such utter heartbreak and joy to me :)...more
FIVE TEAM JACK FOR LIFE STARS!!! (BR with Melissa) Thanks, Melissa, for suffering through the angst with me!!! :)
This is my second time reading this booFIVE TEAM JACK FOR LIFE STARS!!! (BR with Melissa) Thanks, Melissa, for suffering through the angst with me!!! :)
This is my second time reading this book. Love it even more this time around.
Avoiding Commitment has to be, by far, the most angst filled story I have read to date. I remember putting down my iPad and screaming several times, the first time I read it, a year ago. I thought going into this one a second time, would be easier!! No, it still hurts, and even though Jack stomps and tramples all over Lexi's heart, I'm still a Team Jack girl!! It's the fact that I know this guy has a good heart. It's there and there's proof of it throughout the story.
Jack loved Lexi from the moment they met. You can see that in the way they connected from the very beginning and from his POV in "Avoiding Decisions. The timing just never seems to be right for them.
“I’m not feeding you anything. The time isn’t right for us, but I don’t think that means there won’t be a time for us,”he said, his blue eyes pleading.“Please, Lex.”. - Jack
“I just mean, don’t give up on this. We haven’t even begun, and I don’t want us to be over.” - Jack
Jack and Lexi continue to be in each other's lives. Years may go by where they are separated, but they always find their way back to each other. They always end up in each other's arms no natter if they are in relationships with other people, or not.
Finally, there comes a time when they're both free to be with each other, while they're both in NY. But Lexi is fearful and they decide to be together but not define it as a relationship, Jack, of course, inevitably fucks it up royally and they go their separate ways.
Two years later, he's back in her life. He asks her to come to Atlanta to meet his new girlfriend and convince her he's marrying material. Here's where I went ballistic. How could he do it to her? How could she go? Why the fuck didn't Lexi throw Bekah the beat down she deserved???!!!!!
Then there's Ramsey. He's gorgeous, sexy, AND Bekah's brother. I could see spending a few days in bed with this delicious man, but, he's BEKAH's BROTHER!!! Why would anyone in their right mind get involved with someone who is so closely related to their nemesis?!!!
This book played with my emotions. It tore me apart and did not put me back together again. I wanted the Jack I love, to come shining through. At least he owned up to being an ass for asking Lexi to come out to Atlanta to help him.
“I can’t apologize enough for what I’ve done to you over the years, for what I did to you this week, for having you come here and endure what I put you through. I can’t apologize enough for overreacting when I saw you with Ramsey. I can’t apologize “enough for everything, but I thought I could start with dinner,”he whispered sweetly into the ear she had left exposed to him.
The infamous outdoor sex against the wall scene at Jack's birthday party...it was PAINFUL to read again. I couldn't believe Jack could do that to Lexi and just walk away!!! It blew my mind that he could be so cruel and then I got to his conversation with her in his office. He had it all wrong in his head!! This behavior was brought on by his jealousy over Ramsey!!
I'm praying that Kyla Linde will show mercy on all us Team Jack ladies, and have him make an epic comeback and wins Lexi's heart for good!!!!
