I love this author's books, and have been excited for this new mystery. It's a little different than some of her others--but I loved it so much! It has everything I love in a book-- an atmospheric setting, interesting and complicated characters, and a story that grips you from the first page until the twist at end. The added historical details are interesting and added to my enjoyment of the story. Even better, this is the first of a new series. I can't wait to read about Amelia and Henry's next case....more

Winifred turned down her friend's proposal since she knew he didn't offer it out of love. It's only after he leaves England, and they start writing letters to each other, that she realizes how much he means to her. Caleb eventually returns but is stubborn, refusing to trust what is right before his eyes after being hurt the first time. I adored the bits of their letters we get to see and watching their romance build. As always, the bond of friendship the ladies in the league share is heartwarming. So well-written and such a clever idea--I have loved every story in the Literary League! This one is a standalone, but you should definitely read the whole series!...more

The latest installment in the series doesn't disappoint. Eliza has returned to London after years away, and she's happy to have joined the literary league and found true friends.
She is inspired by the league's idea of making a bold move and asks her brother's best friend for a simple favor. Philip hesitates but agrees only to realize too late that there is nothing simple about the favor!
I adored Eliza and Philip and their slow burn romance. Seeing glimpses of the league members is like being invited to their book club to visit with friends. You don't want to miss any of the books in the series. Loved them all! Highly recommend! ...more

I enjoyed this book sooo much! I read it in two days and was thinking about the story when I wasn’t reading it. It was full of tender moments and had this mystery that threaded through it that was so heartbreaking, but yet still so hopeful. I loved Marcellus! And I loved that he knew the secret and let the reader in on it so then we got to watch the characters discover it. So much fun, and yet, still made me cry! My favorite kind of story! Loved it! Highly recommend. ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book. It has so many of my favorite things from a book club with an interesting group of women friends to handsome rogues to steamy interludes. In this story, Phoebe decides she wants to help her secret crush see her in a whole new light. What better way to involve her friends from the literary league than to get them to make moves of their own as well? Phoebe sends Anthony's world into a tailspin, and it's a delight to watch. He doesn't know what hit him and can't get Phoebe out of his mind. The scene where he has to make his own bold move is one of my favorites! I can't wait to see which of the wonderful ladies in the league gets her story next. So much fun!...more
