Damn! this book- I have tears in my eyes rn. Everyone said that it was going to be emotional and like always I didn't believe them.
It was a very short book with a very good plot and a very good message. In this book we have 14 year old Joseph who's sent to live with 12 year old Jack's parents. Joseph has a daughter named Jupiter whom he loves more than anything even though he haven't seen her except in a photograph which he keeps in his wallet.
This book is all about friendships and how blood relations aren't everything for the other person to have their back. Jack might not be his real brother, Jack's parents might not be his real parents, but they are the closet thing to a family. I loved how the cows were depicted in this book, how they were shown to have emotions and how you don't have to be an animal to understand what they like and what they don't. The people in this book are the reason why faith in humanity still exists.
This might be the best book I've read so far this year so if you are reading this review then trust me, you might love this book....more

Not only negatively positive, but positively toxic too.
So the plot goes like- • 30% of Fallon's body get burned in an accident on November 9. • 2 years later she meets her father (whom you could call one of the worst father of the world) and while talking to him a guy named Ben creepily hears their conversation and acts like a knight in shining armour to Fallon. • Fallon was leaving LA on that day so she could pursue her career in New York. Now for some reason Fallon believes that she'll figure out her life by the age of 23. She doesn't want any sort of relationships rn. But then she meets Ben and *drumrolls* her mind changes a little. They both decide that they'll meet each other every year on November 9.
Now this was the first 30% of the plot? I was so bored. Let me point the problems I found in this book:
FIRST NOVEMBER 9
This was the day Fallon and Ben met. Now everyone likes Ben because he saved Fallon from her asshole father but they ignore the fact that he was listening to their entire conversation which I know isn't wrong but then he barges in their conversation forgetting that a thing like privacy exists. But the worst thing was that Fallon liked his actions. Like girl you don't know this guy. He could be anyone. He could be a psychopath or an asshole(view spoiler)[or the reason for her burns and all her problems (hide spoiler)].
Scratch the idea of pointing out the problematic parts. Let me make a list of why I hate Ben because 90% of the book is problematic because of Ben.
#ReasonswhyIhateBen 1 "But if we’re just going to sit here and stare at each other, it’d be nice if she were showing a little cleavage, instead of wearing this long-sleeved shirt that leaves everything to the imagination. It’s pushing eighty degrees outside. She should be in something a lot less . . . convent-inspired."
I think the paragraph is self explanatory.
2 “I barely know you, so I’m not about to argue with you over your level of intelligence, because you could very well be as dumb as a rock. But at least you’re pretty.”
Another self explanatory paragraph.
3 "My eyes fall to the dress first. I have to give myself props for picking that one out. There’s just enough showing at her neckline to keep me good and happy, but I’m not even positive I’ll be able to look away from her face long enough to stare at her cleavage."
All that good talk about not hiding your scars and all was total bullshit (that scene was total bullshit. He had no rights to say what he said.). This was his actual motive behind choosing the dress :).
Now there's one more thing. This book would have been better if Fallon realised her self worth on her own and not by a guy who's only motive is to see her underwear and get close to her. And definitely not by a boy who forces her to wear a dress which makes her uncomfortable.
4 The paragraph is like too long so I won't copy paste it but to summarise- He compares someone's face with a book with a ugly cover and talks about how if he fell in love with the plot of the book without looking at the cover first then it would be a waste because no one wants a book with a ugly cover on their shelves. Wait let me put it in spoiler tags for anyone who wants to read it - (view spoiler)[
"People say not to judge a book by its cover, but what if you somehow read the inside of the book without seeing the cover first? And what if you really liked what was inside that book? Of course when you go to close the book and are about to see the cover for the first time, you hope it’s something you’ll find attractive. Because who wants an incredibly written book sitting on their bookshelf if they have to stare at a shitty cover?"(hide spoiler)]
Also there was this part she admits that she hates insta love and yet herself fall into insta love wasn't something good. I hated that. I don't know what she tried to prove here.
5 The fact that he was bringing her underwear in every conversation made me want to punch him. It really wasn't funny.
SECOND NOVEMBER 9
They meet for the second time. Nothing special happens here.
"He deserves a kiss for that comment, but there’s a guy with a tattoo gun two feet away and I’m not the type of girl who would make out with a guy in public."
She's not a girl who would make out with a guy in the public but she would definitely kiss a guy in the airport when she herself points out that everyone is looking at them (this happened during the first November 9 though).
#ReasonswhyIhateBen 6 “I want to do the book justice, and your injuries are something I have to talk about. So you should let me see it. We’ll consider it research.”
You know 30% of her body got burned but nooo. He wants to write about the burns on her breast because people want to read about the beauty of her breasts because everyone is a creepy pervert like him ...more

So in this story we have this man who decides to travel somewhere in temperature 75 degrees below zero. He had a dog with him who was really smart and knew that the man was dumb enough to go out on such a cold day but what could he do? The dog had to go out with him because he had no other choice. I feel so bad for the dog. He even tried to remain sitting near the fire but that idiot man didn't let him. I wish that guy already tripped and died or knocked himself out and then died because of the cold.
(view spoiler)[ he dies because of the cold only but that happens in the end ofc and we (the readers) have to die of boredom reading his "struggles" for surviving the cold. (hide spoiler)]
I seriously almost died of boredom. I wanted to throw my book away but then realized that I really need to pass the test as I don't want to be kicked out of my house so here I am trying (and failing) to take my anger out. I mean someone even warned that man about the cold and difficulties he would face but of course he didn't listen. He even thinks of killing the dog?God I hate this man so much....more

It's really difficult to find low star rated reviews on gr for this book. The characters in this book were just trash. The plot is good and the writing is okay too but the things the characters said/did annoyed the hell out of me.
This was my first book by Colleen Hoover and all I've ever heard about CoHo's books is that they are are heartbreaking and painful to read. Are you seriously kidding me? I have no idea about whom and what should I cry over. Verity? Jeremy? Lowen? The ending completely changed my mind about Verity (though I'm still contemplating if it was good or not). I hated her so much (I know she was supposed to be hated but still...) I liked the way her character was written.
Lowen? Oh god she's such a bitch who thinks that ogling someone's husband is something which could be ignored. If she was a good writer and if she actually understood Verity's works then shouldn't she realize the truth behind Verity's manuscript? (view spoiler)[I mean if what Verity wrote was actually fiction then shouldn't she be able to good enough to analyse her works? (hide spoiler)] Also she was dumb af. I mean I could tell about Verity's condition at that first "paranormal" incident yet she took the entire book to realize what was (or wasn't) wrong with her.
Jeremy? This man should die please. He was such a jerk. What he did to Verity was unacceptable even if he was overdriven by grief. He was more of a "villain" than Verity.
Now let's come to the parts/things I didn't like in this book.
There were lots of insensitive lines thrown here and there in the book like- “Can you blame her?” I’m irritated that he’s making baseless claims. I turn around to finish the dishes. “She lost both of her daughters. Anyone who suffers through something like that would want to find a way out.”
The way Lowen talked about Jeremy is just...*shudders* "I’m sure she thinks Jeremy and I lock ourselves in the master bedroom together after she leaves every evening. I wish she were right."
"He is sweaty, but I don’t really think it’s gross."
"He didn’t even touch me—he touched my fucking driver’s license—and it turned me on."
The most eww worthy-
"I flip through the pages of Verity’s manuscript, hoping to find an intimate scene with Jeremy."
I have a question. What was the deal with April? Did she know about Verity?...more

"Actors are by nature volatile—alchemic creatures composed of incendiary elements, emotion and ego and envy. Heat them up, stir them together, and sometimes you get gold. Sometimes disaster.”
As a diehard hater of Shakespearean works, blaming all of it on my school that forced me to read some of them, this book was way better than I had expected. I might not be a big fan of the writing, or you can say not a big fan of the way the characters quoted lines from different Shakespearean plays even though I can't blame them since I myself quote lines from different musicals and songs every now and then (which most probably infuriates my friends so sorry not sorry for that). Yes you can call me a hypocrite now. But the characters, especially Filippa made the entire book worth reading.
This book is about 7 friends who love each other like siblings, except for the ones that love each other romantically ofc *coughs*. Out of these 7 friends I only loved Filippa but that's because others were just a bunch of angry, jealous, stupid humans that were in need of therapy. The plot was quite clear from the beginning yet I still enjoyed it. I mean I knew Dic- *coughs* Richard was going to turn out to be an asshole and James was going to lose his shit and Alexander was going to...yk what happened to him and Oliver was going to take the blame on himself because that's exactly what was written in the blurb duh.
Oliver- oh god. What a stupid naive guy. I really wanted to shake him at the end. Like seriously. (view spoiler)[ I partially blame him for James suicide. If only he had let James get arrested instead of acting like the heroic fool in love James might still be alive and maybe a little less guilty. His serving 10 years in the prison resulted in nothing but James's increase of guilt. (hide spoiler)]
Meredith- I didn't understand her character at all. In the beginning she was all lovey dovey with Richard but then as soon as he turned out to be an asshole, she started liking Oliver. Idk. It just didn't sit right with me.
Filippa was THE BEST. The mysterious girl who actually cared about her friends (or so I felt). For some reason she reminded me of Philipa Soo but that's mostly because of her name and deep inside a tiny part of me associated her with Eliza from Hamilton.
Wren. Only. Cried. And. Sobbed. The. Entire. Time. After the tragedy I could understand why she cried sm but before that? She didn't make it in the "characters I can tolerate if I met them irl" list.
Alexander- I seriously don't know what to say about him. He was just there.
Richard- I only wish death upon him.
Overall I loved the plot even though it was predictable, didn't like the use of excessive Shakespearean quotes and hated Richard.

I came looking for Percy and I found Leo. But seriously I have a bad habit of starting books without reading it's blurb first. I thought finally I'll get more of Percabeth but then... nevermind. I loved this book so much. Uncle Rick never dissapoints.
“Believe me, lady,” Leo muttered, “I remember. And whoever you are, I’m gonna face-plant you hard, Leo-style.”
I love each and every character of this book. Except Drew. I don't really like Jason that much too. In the entire book he acts like losing memory is the worst thing that could happen to anyone. NEWSFLASH- I lose my memory too during exams. But no one really cares about my memory loss. Instead I'm threatened to be thrown out of my house (by my parents ofc). So why does this guy get so much sympathy? #justiceforIshika'smemory.
“Gaea?” Leo shook his head. “Isn’t that Mother Nature? She’s supposed to have, like, flowers in her hair and birds singing around her and deer and rabbits doing her laundry.” “Leo, that’s Snow White,” Piper said.
Leo is one of the best character ever written. Fight me if you want but you are surely going to lose. There would have been no mission if Leo wasn't alive. Jason and Piper would have been dead without him. Half of the Cabin 9 would have been injured if Leo never controlled Festus. He is the best.
There were times when I got bored because I don't really care about wherever the hell they land/stay. I don't care about Piper and Jason too. They are not a couple. Jason didn't even know who Piper was, yet he acted like he loved her. Piper acted a little childish too when it came too Jason.
Also the Greek Gods are the most incompetent Gods to ever exist. They seriously need some teenagers to save the world. What the fuck are they doing with their powers? And Zeus really needs to stop acting like a jealous spoilt kid. He is the freaking King of Gods for God's sake (don't mind the dumb joke I made).
To all the demons out there I would like to say something to you all in Coach Hedge's style- "Die!".

“I just think we shouldn’t judge her, or anyone, without trying to understand them first. That maybe we should get the full story before jumping to conclusions. Crazy notion, I know.”
I loved Cinder. I hated Scarlet. End of the story. I was literally so bored while reading this. I seriously don't give a fuck about Scarlet or Wolf. AND I don't approve of their relationship. Have you guys ever heard of insta love? Ofc everyone has heard of it except these two humans. Wait no I should these two creatures.
“I know, I know. She seems a little”—crossing his eyes, he swirled both fingers around his ears—“but it’s really part of her charm, once you get to know her.”
The only reason I have rated this book 2 stars is because a certain someone won my heart. And that certain someone is Carswell Thorne. I loved reading chapters from his and Cinder's pov. I wanted more chapter from Kai's pov too. And IKO is back people. I love her "I can't compute" because that's the most relatable line I have ever heard.
My favorite part from the book-
Then, “You’re … rather handsome, Captain Thorne.” Cinder groaned. “And you, my fine lady, are the most gorgeous ship in these skies, and don’t let anyone ever tell you different.” The temperature drifted upward, until Cinder dropped her arms with a sigh. “Iko, are you intentionally blushing?” The temperature dropped back down to pleasant. “No,” Iko said. Then, “But am I really pretty? Even as a ship?” “The prettiest,” said Thorne. “You do have a naked lady painted on your port side,” added Cinder. “Painted her myself.”
Read this book if you liked books like Cinder and want to read books like Cress. Before you roll your eyes at me I'll take my leave....more
