The book was just too long with the first 20% or so being events happening before the main character, Marion, and his identical twin brother, was born. The female characters in the book were flat and underdeveloped. Marion was not likable. I disliked him even more when he essentially raped his childhood friend for his first sexual act. Then he became sick with hepatitis and nearly died, but miraculously he was saved due to a living donor liver transplant surgery his father performed, but his brother, the donor, died in the process. It got a little predictable in parts, too. I think what made this story interesting was the surgical descriptions, which I'm assuming are accurate as the author is a physician....more
