My Rating: 4 of 4 Stars (Based on the Short&Light Read Category)
This is a short read and it is funny, ridiculous, erotic and totally, unexpectedly, enjoyable!
We have two seemingly straight guys who end up sitting on a couch, listening to the roommate have some fun with a lover and they watch, or try to watch, a game. When that fails, they go for porn tv but the show is all about gay porn.
bwahahhaaaaaaa
This is so short and it was over so fast but it was so funny and uber HOT! I just wanted more.
My request is this: AJ Ridges, if you could please write an expanded version of this, I would totally love it! I also want more scenes with Tim especially heheheeee

I just love Gay For You stories and this is one of them. Trying Not To Love You is a short freebie that tells the story of two best buddies who watch out for each others' backs since the time one broke his arm after a challenge. Yes, one is younger and the brother of another friend, but their families had bonded tight since the broken arm event and from then on, they were just together. Now that they were adults and members of a popular band, they were closer than ever.
The togetherness of Alistair and Keagan was the norm within the family. When Keagan finally came out as gay, there was no such drama involved and it actually tightened the bond between the two families. When this happened at the time they were already in the public eye, there was no media storm. There was just full acceptance from the fans.
So why all this drama?
Well, for one thing, it does no good when a bitchy, witchy, bitch of a girlfriend suddenly decides to make life miserable for Alistair, Keagan and their families. Threatening threats left and right did not work though, she forgot the families were TIGHT! and had COPS! Then there was the surprise of it all - when Alistair finally realizes his being in love with Keagan was not a secret and his coming out was expected - like, years ago!
hehehehheheheheeeeeee
This was such a fairy tale romance and I. Just. Loved. It!
Yes, I agree, this is not a plot that would win a Pulitzer, but it is great entertainment, it is romantic and it has enough angst to make it a fluid read. That it is HEA - well, let me just say, it made me smile big. So definitely a recommended read for those who love HEA, GFY, and sexiness. What I want to know is what happens to the brothers????? I wish I may have a follow up read :D...more
Awakenings is a Gay For You or GFY story about two college roommates who gradually got to know each other, got used to each other, and basically just fell for each other. These two men were poles opposite and yet they fit perfectly.
This is set in a college campus where both Ben and Solomon, or Solo, are roommates. There is no mention of a fraternity so I am not sure about that. The story starts out with both young men already very comfortable with the other so there is no insecurity on that end. When Ben and Solo start doing things beyond what straight guys usually do when there are no girls around, it starts out with little discomfort which made Solo question himself and their relationship. Ben is so secure in his masculinity that he can shed his clothes without modesty be it in the privacy of his room or outside the dorm. Solo cannot but keep his eyes on his friend and soon has thoughts that (he thinks) he should be ashamed of (but is really not). Ben is not helping as he just keeps being who he is and continues to instigate some encounters that both young men wholeheartedly jump into. Their verbal sparring is quite revealing and yet Solo tries half-heartedly tries to ignore it and epically fails. It was not a surprise when others looked at them and immediately concluded they were a couple.
This is a very short and light read and yet I really loved it, especially as these two men reminded me so much of two friends in college who were straight as arrows, ran naked on the grounds most times even when the snow was falling and were considered as the bestest of friends. I had concluded then they were a couple but their fraternity brothers always denied it. Well, needless to say, on our third year, they were inseparable and did confirm in the end they were a couple. They never acted or looked gay, in the sense that many think gay men should act. Definitely, the two were a sarcastic/comedic duo and played Lacrosse so were hunks in their own right.
Now, Jayson James is an author whose writing style is quite different from the rest out there. His stories ring true, and his work comes across, to me at least, as a man telling a story usually does: sarcastic, realistic, blunt, no hesitance, and blunt. Did I say blunt? Which makes me love his work even more. That there is a bit of erotic here is a bonus hehehehehehe.
I must say though, I am stomping my feet here, I want more of Ben and Solo.
Shout out to the author!!!!! Let there be more of these two, please! ...more
