I know a lot were surprised to find out how much I love fruit cake. And pudding. All you need to do is go to my FB page and my reviews on other christmas themed stories featuring this awesome concoction of fruits and brandy. Done very well, as Jay's grandma's is done, it is the absolute bomb. I love it so much, I researched the origins of the cake way back in grade school and found the most delicious back stories as well as survivor ones. Blame It On The Fruitcake is the story of how the delight changed the life of loner Sam McGuire. One bite was all it took and he sunk into ambrosia. One bite was all it took and Jay had him hooked. There is no insta-love to this holiday romance. The two men actually took the time out from each other and got into a messy situation until the fruitcake got them back together into blissful romanticdome once more. Can they blame the cake filled to the brim with fruits and dunked in brandy? I don't, I think the deliciousness opened Sam's eyes to the wonders that many miss because of its reputation. Sam love for the cake turns into an addiction that sends him into Jay's loving arms and someone else who I can't name because it will spoil the whole story. Needless to say, Sam's arms are those of a mechanic who is buff and tough and as loveable as could be. Recommended for those who love (or not) fruitcake and bikers who fall for men in suits.

Can forgiveness be given this short a time? To a bully? Hmmmmmmm.......
A dozen years, two thousand miles, and a law degree after high school, Rafi Steiner continues to harbor resentment toward Isaac Jones, his childhood bully turned NBA star. When Isaac appears at Rafi’s favorite restaurant acting like a long-lost friend, Rafi bluntly dismisses him.
But Isaac is tenacious and has his heart set on the grown-up version of the boy he always wanted and never forgot. The way Isaac sees it, he and Rafi are perfect for each other, if only he could sink the most important shot of his life: his one shot at forgiveness.
I don't know about others, but I don't think forgiveness can be given this fast and in this short a time. I don't think that after the implied thousands of dollars Raffi's parents spent in therapy for Raffi to get over the bullying done to him by Isaac anyone and others, in just a matter of hours or days, allow that same bully into his or their home and wherever else.
Unless they are the martyr types who like to be bullied?
I don't know, I just cannot connect with hypocritical bullies, nor connect with them enough for a romance. Smexy scenes well written or not. Come on, I want some realness and this was just not it for me.
Oh well, ignore me and my opinions if you like this sort of thing.

I love German Shepherds and I love shape-shifter stories that are romantic. Aiden's Shepherd is one of those that just ticks the right boxes for me. It is light, the pace is not so fast but fast enough to get the story to develop as it should, the mystery is deep on Aiden's side and the thrill of what comes next is just enough to keep the read going.

Sherri Hayes has written one of the more perfect introductions to a series with Welcome to Serpent's Kiss. This short story is simply a complete background to what's to come in the Serpent's Kiss series and whets your appetite for what's to come.
Katrina Mayer is her own woman, and a businesswoman too. Not only does she own her own kink club but she also runs it as a hard as nails Club Mistress and resident sadist. She's a shrewd investor and a fair, caring boss, which makes the employee and member side a little more intimate than she bargained for! There is also that little fact of her not wanting a permanent sub...
I truly appreciate the details put in by Ms Hayes to make this story realistic and informative while being truly sexy. Dominants have to learn their craft and it does take years as well as a great attention to detail. Then there is that habit of checking (good Doms make sure their subs are comfortable and not in any unpleasant pain) the sub's play status. Of special mention is the all-important aftercare.
Most don't talk about exactly how difficult it is to play in this lifestyle. The background and medical checks are a necessary for both health and privacy, especially in an exclusive club where an inadvertent outing can destroy someone socially. Then the learning process involved where Doms are constantly on the lookout for their sub's well being while learning to inflict only erotic pain in safety.
My only complaint: Welcome to Serpent's Kiss was done too quickly! Yes, I know it's only an overview and background to the series but I wish there was more to it than just a short story. But it's a perfect appetizer to the Serpent's Kiss series, Sherri Hayes. Makes me want the rest of the course - now.

Before reading the review, let me just say that I am one happy and proud friend to this lady. Yes, there! I have admitted the ultimate sin: she is my friend. But this will never spare her from me, as an MM genre reviewer. Her fault she never let me on to her secret of publishing this. I had to discover this all by myself!
Flawless Design is the second book to the Lost Angels Series. Both these book tell the story of angels, one of which was killed by Shamsiel in book one. You see, Ramiel, his brother, his lover, his friend, fell in love with a human woman, and Shamsiel got a bit peeved and ended up killing both. This is enough to lead Shamsiel to hate himself, be depressed and casting himself out of Paradise. He holes himself down on earth. And meets a pole dancer.
Blake is not what he appears to be. The angel knew this man was sexy as heck, graceful on the pole, sets his body on fire, and is not human. It takes him some time to figure out that Blake is part daimon, part Muse and Shamsiel just freaks out. Finding out what Shamsiel did to Ramiel and Alma freaked Blake out.
And so the drama begins.
I found Shamsiel to be a bit of a brat and Blake a bit of a flake at first. However, as I continued to read, I started to understand who their characters were. It was also quite a surprise that in such a few words, this character development evolved beautifully and revealed who these men really were behind their personas. I did not expect this.
One has to wonder, how the author managed create such a complete story in just 35 pages. The required elements of erotica, drama, romance and angst are all present and accounted for but it did not read rushed. This is the same reaction I had when reading the first book, Pure Love of the Fallen.
Flawless Design is a beautiful short story. However, unlike other free reads and short stories, this left me very satisfied; happy that I got the closure for Shamsiel as well as the HEA ending for both my men.
Thank you, Alina. This was a beautiful Christmas present.

Have you ever wanted to read something romantic, fun and ending with an HFN while waiting in a doctor's clinic? One that will make you forget the whining and whinging of crying patients, young and old, before your name is called out?
Roses Are Read And Thorny... Ouch! is just the right read.
Yes, I know! This is meant to be a Valentine's read but I just got to this and I have no regrets whatsoever. And yes, it made me forget about the wait and tuned out the chaos around me successfully.
This is such a cute, little story and short as it is, it was just perfect! There was no insta love, there is not that much erotica (that would have been embarrassing in the waiting room!!) and the characters communicated with each other. The romance did develop between Shaun and Ian. They did wish and they got their answer. They worked for it. They did not rush and eventually, they ended up happily.
Yes, they are young, but who cares? Theirs is a friendship that soon became a solid romance between two young men. And yes! I did smile goofy at the end.

Everyone Loves A Wedding. Yes, if the wedding involved this family, this type of comradeship between parents, siblings and in-laws. Yes, if the planner or the man of honor were a twin as precious as Spencer.
Chris Owen made me laugh from the first chapter, made me look around hoping no one was looking as I caught myself sighing about the sexiness of it all, and hope. Yes. Hope. I hope I have a Spencer when next there is a wedding in the family.
Fanning myself silly from the sexiness of Dean and Spencer just about capped the brilliance of this short, light read.
I know it's the time to read holiday reads this month, but I just could not resist. This is an irresistible great read.

Okay, where to begin. In Search of Pride really started with Carnal Twilight. I loved that little story. It was dreamy, erotic, and full of romance and heartache. In Search, that story between Brenn and Ciara continues on. But the reader is never given the time to get ready for their difficulties ahead, or what these two lovers have to go through to fulfill their mating.
Brenn has to keep Ciara's presence a secret, for there is a stigma to dragons. Fortunately, that is soon resolved after Brenn's companions shed their initial fears and realize their fortune in Ciara's presence. As a dragon, she is truly fierce and magical and protects Brenn to the point of risking her own life. The love between the two is obvious, not just in their thoughts or actions, or the erotic scenes. Ciara does what she could in her capacity, while Brenn does the same, in his capacity.
The thing is: they can never be truly together. Think starcrossed lovers at this point in their story. It is disappointing, it is thrilling, it moves their romance to heights that make you, as a reader, demand they get over their difficulties soon because their love is real and deserves so much more. But the road is perilous and your heart aches. Brenn and Ciara deserve so much more than what they're served.
The writing duo that is Taryn Jameson and Gabriella Bradley succeeded in giving us a story that is not only plot driven, but imagery driven. I have never, in my reading and reviewing, wanted to see more of the monsters that place the characters' lives in danger. I mean, I actually wanted to read more about these monsters, wanted them to kill more just because I want to read how Brenn and his companions would deal with the dangers they encounter. The introduction of other characters also provides a glimpse of what is to come in the future installments.
I love this series, and I can't wait for the next installments. I need and crave the fulfillment of a love story set in a fantastical planet where magic and science work hand in hand.

Forever in the Sun have two stories in it. One is the wedding of Dylan and Lucas. The wedding where everything that could go wrong did and hiding what went wrong from the affected people took a lot of stealth. It was short, sweet and lots of good fun and giggling throughout.
The other is how the mystery of the love letters between Peter and Alfie finally gets its day in the sun. The feuding was stupid, but then again, what feud is not? Also, the angst between Connor and Shaun is purely a matter of miscommunication. Connor is trying to be the good son, or in this case, nephew while Shaun is just trying to get the truth out. Why not? What is the shame of two men loving each other when they were still alive? So someone does not get hurt? Again, sweetly done and gives the reader a light feeling of joy. Especially around the parts where the letters and sketches finally tell their all.
Two stories, one that makes you laugh, the other makes us smile with tears in our eyes. Both are sweetly written. Both worth the while to sleep and dream over later.

When grandmother Jewell dies, Eric Allen finally gets to live his life. The inheritance left him allowed for a business venture with his best friend. Of course, his inheritance is really the problem here for what is money? Isn't it the root of all evil? In this case, Jewell's children and their beget wanted the money. Problem: Eric is the only heir. How much is involved? Well, not much but enough to get the green eyes of jealousy to turn towards what is presumed to be prey - Eric. You see, Eric is gay and had been kicked out one Thanksgiving day when he told all he was gay. It was Jewell who took him in and in the process, introduces Eric to a community of men and women who acted as uncles and aunts. Aunts in particular is a tough lawyer who with her wife, became the second parents to Eric even at thirty three years of age.
Then there is Nathan. He loves Eric like a brother and have been besties for a long, long time. He is also quite the thorn on the side. Someone Eric cannot ever ignore. He is the one who spurs Eric on to make a life changing decision: open a resort exclusively for gays. The venue, a fixer upper. Of course this is where and when Tim comes in.
Tim, the handyman, is an opinionated, macho tough handyman. He takes one look and takes charge of making sure the resort is up to specifications and realistic expectations. He is a hard character to nail, no pun intended. In fact, I kind of only have a vague idea of who he is as an individual. He is fascinating and made my imagination go a little wild.
The premise was good. The story line fascinating. Where did it go wrong for me? Maybe it was my expectations on how the story would go based on the blurb? The plot flowed well even if the romance between Eric and Tim was a bit like looking into a faraway horizon. The one who took my attention was actually Nathan, the best friend who pushes Eric to make something out of his life. I am quite intrigued by his story when it is time for the telling and want to find out if he really is going to end with the one I wish him to end up with. Now for Nathan, the evil brother, hmmmmmm.... I leave it at that. So setting my initial expectations aside, I did enjoy this story so am going to recommend it to those who would like to give this a chance.

I'm one who one-clicks a Nic Starr. Yes, I'm a huge fan. But! and here's a but she probably did not expect from this reviewer, Patrick's Savior may just be the one book that I am not an all-out fan of while I was reading the story. Why? Well, because I got irritated and a tad bit frustrated with both Patric and Simon. Patrick for being annoying, and Simon for his uber patience. Now, after reading this, and going over the feels I went through while reading, I had to give this a great rating for it gave me exactly what I look for while reading. No, this is not cheesy, or over-dramatic to the point of ridiculousness. This book is about two men who are very true to life and do the real-life choices we make every single day. They are not extraordinary, and for sure their story is not what makes up fairy tales either.
I must admit, these men's qualities are very real, and truth is, I really liked reading this book because both men reminded me of two men I know. I wanted to just go up to Simon and say, look where you're going and pay attention! and to Patrick whom I want to desperately strangle lovingly. ...more

It's been some time since the last Men of London book had been released and now that Survival Game is finally here, I just had to read it twice. Yes, it is THAT GOOD!
Well, this is the story of Eric and Kyle, whose romance didn't really start off that well. There was a bit of miscommunication and that sort of thing, but thing is, this is a story that reads so real. There is no flimsy, rose-colored lens type of romance going on. This is not one of those yada yada hohum stories that one can dismiss as an M&B type of thing if you know what I'm talking about. This is a romance that only a Mac Nicol can deliver and she never fails on that point. Once you start reading, that's it, you're lost in the world of Kyle and Eric and the romance they brew.
Now, this is a story that develops, so although it doesn't crawl, one could categorize it as a slow burning process. But fear not! It does not crawl like a bug, think more like an ant that eats its way up your body and before you know it, wow! the history stings for both men, and you cry a little, die a little, and yet, despite the tears, you smile big because, well, they deserve their happiness so much it hurts.
Although a long time coming, this installment to the series is one that was worth the waiting. The other men come back in cameo appearances, and well, you smile if you know them. It's nice seeing the others come back and say their peace about Kyle and Eric's romance. There is also a backend story about Mango and Ryan. For those who follow this series, you'll realize that this and book #8 sort of intersect which makes the waiting even more worthwhile.
Men of London the series is one that I can never hope to escape from. The author keeps saying this is the end, but nope, there are too many men in London whose tale need to be told and Mac Nicol delivers brilliantly each time.

This was too short and yet it was the perfect number of words and pages, enough to get me to loving Ross and Joel.
I loved Lace, the first of this series, but boy, Ross pulled the rug from under David and Shawn on this one. Joel, he had his bad moments, like being indecisive, but I can't blame him for it, he was treading softly and carefully, well they both were. I love the chemistry between Joel and Ross.
At 46,000 I really shouldn't call this a short read, should I, but it sure felt like it, because this one of the fastest reads I'd ever done. I haven't done that in the longest time, I've been focused on short stories lately. Well, treat this a short, it is that fast and entertaining a read.
And oh boy, need I mention that treasure trail on the cover? Lace didn't do that for me. I guess Satin is a different material altogether. Exotic. Seductive. Delicious. ...more

These days, I don't have much energy for lengthy novels so go for the novellas and the short stories. I found out that most writers find writing shorter stories more of a challenge than writing out the longer ones. The reason is they need to pack in so much in so little space. This brings me to Susan Mac Nicol's short story adventure, and yes, this is an adventure to read. If you want to end the book with a huge smile on your face, this is a good one to pick up. There is nothing but HEA in these stories of how the men first met their forever man.
The three stories are very short, so let me just tell you which one is my favorite. Mind you, all of these are very well written as only a Mac Nicol can. My fave is Banana Appeal. From the beginning, this one made me smile the widest. When I reached the end, I literally screamed because I was that happy.
Sad stories are good, those full of angst are even better (or so some people say, I personally prefer the happy), and then there are just the feel-good ones that gives you the feels. Banana Appeal. Oh, yes. Sigh. Now, if Ms Susan can give us a longer version. That wouldn't be asking for too much, right?...more
