That being said, you'd think by this point Everly and/or Det. Grady would have gotten Everly to a point where she's packing heat for all the times she gets in jeopardy when she discovers the killer.
And why the heck hasn't she turned these impressive, innate sleuthing skills to find out who's doing the anonymous Charm blogger so she can root that part out of what gives her grief?...more

Immersive and creative. If he'd somehow managed to do an end at the midpoint of this book it would have been 5 stars for me. Wowza. I had actually finished this audiobook several days ago, but I didn’t want this review to be an angry rant so I sat on it and thought about it for a bit. So this is my effort to temper it a bit.
I’ve always felt sympathy for Ms. Spears and all the crap she’s gone through, done to her, and absolutely extracted from her. But I confess I had little real idea all that it entailed. Boyo I had no idea the extent to which she’d been run through damn near every ringer there is.
One might be inclined to think she was either exaggerating or making things up to help sell a book or that it was just payback for injustices, real or perceived. I don’t think that at all. She’s no reason to. It’s not as though she needed to do a memoir.
Anyway… The Woman in Me struck me as a raw and candid account, even when it isn’t 100% flattering to herself. But it struck me as 100% genuine and heartfelt. It made me so upset. Partly thinking if this kind of thing could happen to one of the most popular pop singers/stars in the world, could it happen to a woman who truly had no power, no one to wonder what was going on, etc. Tied up with it too are the double-standards, vicariously needs projected upon and encumbering women. I was personally utterly shocked by the 60% mark of this book. I can barely fathom the pathology behind some of the people involved.
Okay, so this is getting into the rant territory I was hoping to avoid. She’s survived a lot and she’s justifiably angry about how she’s been treated. Yet she seems have reached a degree of peace.
I wish her, humbly and sincerely all the best and all the happiness in the world. Some others mentioned… well... ...more
