Oooo, this looks fascinating! I keep turning the question of the relationship between play and humanity around in my mind: does our ability to play make us human? Does play itself humanize us? But what about animals that play? etc. etc. Play depends on so many complex constructs in some ways (signification, abstraction, imagination, rhythm, control/risk, social investment, etc.) and yet seen from another angle it can be about being wholly committed to and invested in the present moment. (In other words, such a puzzle, and I just added this book to my list!)
