What is your research process like, and how rigorously do you adhere to historical accuracy? Has there ever been a moment where you deliberately overlooked historical evidence/precedent for dramatic or plot purposes?

I try to be as accurate as possible (bearing in mind that history itself is not always all that accurate ). I think I've only bent dates twice that I recall--and I always put in an Author's Note when I do that.

I never knew about Outlander until I happened onto the TV show. I knew I could not wait for the next season and have just this week finished book 8. I want to thank you for such a great ending, and if I don't live until book 9 (I am 70) you have left me totally fulfilled. Thank you for such a marvelous reading experience. My question is will we have another truly lovable pet such as Rollo in book 9?
