Signs of Love #1

Leo Loves Aries

Rate this book
A new person will enter your life in the early year, Leo. Look past any moments of frustration they might bring and laugh—this could be the start of a thriving friendship.

Theo Wallace usually laughs at the horoscopes his mom sends. Still hung up on his ex-girlfriend and practically friendless, this one begs him to reconsider. Because a friendship that stuck, that thrived…

Well, that would be a reason to leave past pains behind and look to the Bright Future.

When his sister Leone challenges him to find her the perfect date for a spring wedding, Theo uses it as a chance to make new friends. Theo’s ex economics tutor and newest roommate Mr Jamie Cooper seems to be a possible and convenient match. Real convenient. Like written in the stars, convenient.

All he has to do is make sure this Jamie is good enough. Could really be the one for her, and the friend for him.

But watch out, Leo, the stars have a surprise in store…

Hey guys,

A bit about me: I'm a big, BIG fan of slow-burn romances. I love to read and write stories with characters who slowly fall in love.

Some of my favorite tropes to read and write are: Enemies to Lovers, Friends to Lovers, Clueless Guys, Bisexual, Pansexual, Demisexual, Oblivious MCs, Everyone (Else) Can See It, Slow Burn, Love Has No Boundaries.

I write a variety of stories, Contemporary MM Romances with a good dollop of angst, Contemporary lighthearted MM Romances, and even a splash of fantasy.

My personal rating policy:
As an author, things get murky when it comes to rating other books. I feel uncomfortable doing it--even though, like any reader, I have books that do it for me, and books that don't.

However, I love to share amazing stories I've read, so I've decided this year (and going forward) that I will rate my 5 star reads. The ones that really, really got to me.

There will be MANY, MANY stories and books that are amazing and wonderful and 4 or 4.5 star reads for me, but I will not be rating them. No rating is no reflection on the quality of any book, simply that it wasn't a 5 for me.

I absolutely LOVED Anyta Sunday's latest release, "Leo Loves Aries." It was full of snark, humor and loads of banter, which was right up my alley.

Theo and his sister, Leone, were finishing up their undergraduate degrees, both heartbroken after their latest love interests had fallen head-over-heels in love. With each other!

I know! WTF, right?

(How I pictured smartass, confident Theo.)

A lot of the early story revolved around how both siblings had tried to move on, but couldn't quite get there, as they were still a bit stuck in the past romantically.

Enter their mother, with a horoscope for both of her darling Leos for the coming year. And Theo's old economics tutor, Jamie. Well, not 'old' old, as they're around the same age, plus, Jamie's extremely attractive, which even 'straight' Theo can recognize.

(How I pictured level-headed, selfless and loving Jamie.)

I was completely enthralled by the interactions between Theo and Jamie in this story. Theo loved to get under Jamie's calm, collected skin and Jamie gave as good as he got, which was so much fun to watch. Give me a book with great banter and I'm about half sold already, which this one did.
You have to have the last word, don’t you?

Theo looked up at him and smiled. “Who, me?
This is your classic tale where the straight guy meets another guy who he clicks with on every single level, but still can't see the forest for the trees. Doesn't see what's right in front of him or recognize his own feelings. Clueless guy is clueless.

One of my favorite scenes in the book was where Theo went on a date with his sister's friend, Liz, inviting Jamie and Leone along, in hopes of jump starting their romance, too. Sweet Jesus, Theo really was just that clueless, but the date worked out great -- for Theo and Jamie! Liz? Liz who? ;- )

Then when Jamie's best friend from Wisconsin, Sean, came on the scene, Theo's jealousy was fully ignited. But all 'straight' guys feel that way, right? God, I loved those green-eyed monster scenes.

Eventually Theo worked out what was going on inside his head and, after a small bump in the road, we get our HEA. I would've loved to see an epilogue, but the story ended on a great note, so I was happy with where it left off.

As for the steam, *yes,* the book did have some steam, but the scenes tended to happen fairly quickly, then move on, without lingering over lots of description.

There were also some feels, but not to the same extent as my favorite of Anyta's works, "rock," which is insanely highly recommended, by the way.

Overall, this one hit it out of the park for me, so I'd rate it at around 4.5 shiny, happy, feel good stars.

I ADORE Anyta Sunday, especially when she writes these delicious friends-to-lovers, slow burn stories! Let the sexual tension party begin!

This is a sexuality-discovery kinda story, and I'd describe the MC (Theo) as a pansexual, or someone that falls for the person, not the gender. First time gay experience stories are a HUGE weakness of mine, especially if they are done really, really well, and Anyta Sunday nailed this one!

I'm not a horoscope reader, and you don't have to be to love this story. I fell really hard for Theo and his sister Leona (by the way, it's always awesome to see a female character who isn't "evil" in M/M romance), and I liked how Leona's disability was included but wasn't shown in a patronizing way.

What worked for me the most was the amazing build-up between Theo and Jamie. They had a teasing, caring, evolving friendship that moved organically into something bigger, and I think Anyta Sunday pulled it off effortlessly. It wasn't rushed or forced, and I loved how everything seemed so inevitable. The chemistry was wonderful, and the expert writing made this book a heart-squeezing, heart-warming read.

I think all lovers of Taboo For You will love this one too. Anyta Sunday does it again!

Thank you Anyta Sunday for teaching me what love is....

Not to humanize myself but uhh I've smiled so much reading this book I might as well have been wearing pink plastic heart glasses on. I wish this otp was real and they get married on a faraway beach and pay for my flight out there just so I could toast their love from an open bar.

Anyway. I'm happy to report that slow burn romances are still the reason I struggle everyday.

Also, please do pick up this book whenever you need to feel uncommonly good about the world.

Oh my freaking god, this might possibly be the absolute cutest thing I’ve ever read.
It was completely unexpected, but I loved this book so much.

These characters were surprisingly lovable: they wormed their way into my heart, planted their arses there, and refused to move for the entire duration of the book. They were so sweet, so kind, so funny, so witty, and just so so cute and swoon-worthy!!

Theo and Jamie were obviously amazing characters and I loved them so much individually, but I loved the dynamic they had with each other even more. Their chemistry was pouring off of these pages and their banter was incredible.
I adored how they started off as friends, and were genuinely there for each other. I could see the pure love they had for one another, even aside from any type of romance. They shared a deeper connection, an understanding and respect for each other, but above all, a continual need and want to always be in each other’s company. They saw and did the little things; the things that are needed to have a functioning and true relationship, instead of merely a deep attraction.

This book is written entirely from Theo’s perspective, and, although I would have killed to see inside of Jamie’s head, this did help with the whole slow-burn aspect. After all, Theo is the most oblivious person on the planet, and doesn’t see his relationship with Jamie as anything more than friendship for a very long time. Meanwhile, Jamie was half-way in love with Theo from the start, desperately waiting for Theo to notice and answer him with the same feelings. Jamie wasn’t pushy, though. Never that.
I am an absolute sucker for (semi)unrequited feelings, and it was perfectly done here. My heart was fluttering and my heart was swooning. I loved the way Jamie loved Theo, and I adored the way Theo cared for Jamie. Their relationship was perfect, and their road to finally being together was amazing.

I also really liked the supporting characters in this novel, especially Theo’s sister, Leone. She had such a sweet relationship with Theo as well as Jamie.

If I have to give some pointers, I would say that sometimes this book had some difficulties really staying in the moment. Certain situations seemed like they could have been further developed and delved into deeper.
I'm not sure if this problem had to do with the writing-style or the pacing, but... it unfortunately resulted in a slightly more superficial vibe during important moments, whereas I actually wanted to be fully emotionally into it. After all, that was exactly how I was feeling towards the characters: deep emotional investment!
This was honestly my one and only complaint with this book, though. Had this part been done better, then I’m sure I would have rated this the full 5 stars.

Long story short, this was highly enjoyable and absolutely adorable. If any of Anyta Sunday's other books have similar character and relationship arcs, then I can honestly not wait to read more by her!!

This is just adorable.I've had it on my Kindle for a while but it wasn't until I saw a friend's status update that I decided to read it and once I started it,I couldn't put it down.
Theo....what can I say,I just loved that boy....completely clueless in the most endearing way.

Theo and his twin sister,Leone, are star signs Leo.They've both been hurt in love and set about trying to get each other dates for the upcoming wedding of both their ex's.Their mother is into horoscopes in a big way and is constantly giving them predictions about the future.

Jamie's star sign is Aries. He's an ex tutor of Theo.Theo and Leone are looking for a roommate,Jamie is looking for a new place so it's the perfect arrangement right?

This book captivated me....

I loved

The banter between Theo and Jamie was just brilliant.

I loved

Their chemistry and interactions....
Jamie being so awkward ice skating,
Their trips for food shopping,
Jamie for taking care of Theo, without him even realizing it,
The,not so subtle, innuendos that Jamie kept throwing about,

Theo:Why do I hear emphasis on 'you'?Am I that hard to be around?

Jamie:You said it.

Leone for being a strong, independent women,

Theo starts off seeing Jamie as a really good friend....over time,a best friend. He misses him when he's not around but he's straight so gets confused when he starts to feel an attraction to him and jealous of other people getting close to him.

The jealousy....I LOVED it.

Jamie getting jealous over Theo dating,
Theo getting jealous over Jamie's best friend,

Yes,it's a slow burn and not overly graphic as regards sex scenes but it totally worked for me....
I'm still swooning.

Highly Recommended.

This was a gem. Not a diamond, more Ruby Red. Hot and sizzling!

Leo Loves Aries was brilliant in its simplicity. The premise of a friends-to-lovers/hetero guy falling for a non-hetero has been done multiple times. What Anyta did however, was to infuse this with a well thought out plot, multi-dimensional characters, with prose that sparkled.

Heather K (dentist in my spare time)'s review says it all.

I loved Theo and Jamie! Yum!

Fifth re-read: 18.06.2021
Anyone who reads this book and ends up not liking it.... you have no heart! Just kidding. Not really. Theo and Jamie is just so goddamn adorable and I love them. I want more of them; I just adore them so much. Read it.

Forth re-read: 14.10.2019
I wasn't supposed to re-read this... I truly wasn't (I just re-read it for christ's sake), buuuuuut, I recommended this book to a friend and I couldn't help myself opening it. After that, it was a lost cause. I adore the characters, I adore the story, I adore the laughs, I adore the chemistry, I adore it all. I - with everything I am - hope that the author will give us a sequel for these two. One book isn't enough. I want more!

Third re-read: 04.06.2019
Yes, I re-read it again. Even though I re-read it five months ago. The book is just so cute and funny, with awesome characters. A book I needed to read in this stressful time. If you haven't read it, you really should. It's definitely worth ones time.
“And if I can’t swim?”
“I swim for both of us.”

Second re-read: 22.01.2019
Had to read this in 2019 as well. It's just so adorable. Never fails to put a smile on my face. So this is my first re-read this year... I wonder how many re-reads I'll end up reading. Last year it was maaany. I still recommend this book to everyone who wants a beautiful friendship becoming more, a incredibly clueless cute guy and one of the most amazing male love interest. They are just perfect for each other. I actually have this need for a sequel with the Leo and Aries.
Theo shook off the moment and plucked Jamie’s keys off their hook and jingled them.
Jamie, tailing him, reached around Theo’s side and hit the back of his hand. The keys leaped into the air and Jamie snagged them, his large fist swallowing all the metal.
Theo yanked open the front door and charged down the path. “You think you’re so smooth.”
“I don’t just think it.”
Large strides kept up with him, and Theo raised both brows when he caught Jamie furtively glancing at his ass.
“You found a pair of underwear, then?” Jamie responded, remotely unlocking the car.
Theo grinned as he made for the passenger side. “Nope.”
Jamie stopped a few feet from the car and threw his head back, muttering to the sky.
Theo opened his door. “You coming or what?”
With a clouding expression that made Theo nervous, Jamie kicked his way to the driver’s side. “I’m gonna come all right.”

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Still So Cute*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

Re-read: 29.04.2018
I still adore this book. Theo is so damn clueless - it's cute, but almost to the point of being annoying.
Jamie is wonderful and quite a catch. They are adorable together and I wish we had gotten another full book for these two. Recommended for those who want a book filled with a great friendship, family love and funny moments. Overall, I'm glad I re-read this one, though I have no idea what to read next. Perhaps I should finally give the rest of the series a chance....

I've one hell of a to-do list. Just need someone to do it.

Other characters:
Leone Wallace, Theo's sister (twins). blind
Samantha ‘Sam’ ‘Sammy’ Royce, Theo's ex.
Derek Johnson, Leone's ex. Now with Sam.
Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Perkins, Theo's potential date to the wedding who his sister found for him.
Kyle and Ben, couple and friends of the twins (and their exes).
Sean, one of Jamie's best friends.
Mrs. Penny Cooper, librarian of the local library and Jamie's mother. His dad is the principal of an elite private school, and his sister, Danielle, is in her senior year of high school. All three badminton addicts.
Crystal Wallace, Theo and Leone's mother.
Alex, a friend of Theo. Theo also built his website. Alex manages a small rink; skating.

The worst thing I've done on a date? Ask who her favorite serial killer is. Under a bridge. In the dark.

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*So adorable*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

First read review:
I adored it. Clueless Theodore ‘Theo’ Wallace (how old?) and Theo’s ex economics tutor and newest roommate Mr. Jamie Cooper (23, turns 24) were just perfect for each other. I adored how jealous Theo was of Sean, how he didn't want to share Jamie. I loved how much he loved his sister, wanting to find her the perfect man, thinking Jamie might be that, but didn't see that Jamie was perfect man for him not her. Overall, I wish we had gotten more, specially from the ending. I wanted perhaps a 5 years later of something... But I still liked this read, quite a lot :)!
Fear not rejection and heartbreak, Leo. Hold your head up high, be your glowing, fiery self and the right people will gravitate to you, maybe even a soul mate among them.

It's been a while since I wrote a novel, thank you pregnancy! Gah, that really, really knocked me out of it. I was one of those that felt dizzy, nauseous, and tired throughout. Fun times. (All WORTH it. Love my baby boy!)

It felt so, so great to get back into writing; and it felt particularly good to write Theo and Jamie's story. After all the horrific news of the year, I needed to put my energy toward something lighthearted and sweet. I needed to write this no-angst, lighthearted, clueless, doesn-t-know-he's-bisexual-yet, slow-burn MM romance.

Thank you to my amazing beta readers for helping me with the story, and thank you Natasha Snow for reading my mind and producing the perfect cover. He is exactly how I imagine Theo! :)

The story is with the editor now and will be ready in December. I'm excited!

~4.5~

This is an amazing best-friends-to-lovers story with a heaping scoop of sexual discovery and a side of family love.

Theo was so NOT in tune with his feelings, I wanted to smother him with a pillow. Repeatedly.

The connection between Theo and Jamie was obvious to everyone but Theo. Theo went from trying to set Jamie up with his sister to pretending they were merely BFFs-with-benefits.

All the love for the banter, quotes of the day, silly astrology predictions, slow burn, lingering glances, and that damn T-shirt (the T-shirt about killed me).

Three cheers for Leone, a strong, positive female character; Sean, who wasn't stupid at all; and Kyle and Ben, because BADMINTON matters.

Honorable mentions go to peanut butter wars (I'm with Jamie on this one; creamy all the way!) and Theo & Leone's wacky, horoscope-obsessed mother.

Rounding down because after such anticipation and build-up, the low steam was a total letdown. I wanted (no, NEEDED!) more. I'm thrilled that an erotic follow-up story is coming out soon!

Leo Tops Aries: take that, Mr. Jamie Cooper.

actual rating: 3.5*

another author who doesn't wanna use the B word and I ain't talking about bitch, butt or badass-motherfucker, im talking about bisexual

Seriously, how hard is it for authors to just use the word and not erase the fact BISEXUAL PEOPLE EXIST!!!!!!!!!

“The worst thing I've done on a date? Ask who her favorite serial killer is. Under a bridge. In the dark.”

Leo Loves Aries is a m/m romance that's fairly fluffy and fun but not really groundbreaking or deep.
Reading this is like eating an entire block of chocolate yourself. It's enjoyable, it makes you happy, it feels good but ultimately there isn't really much substance.

It follows Theo (who is basically Matthew Daddario apparently) and his sister Leone. The two live together and are both heartbroken after theo's ex (samantha) and leone's ex (derek) ditched them and GOT TOGETHER. (which I highkey cannot get over what a dog move)
Theo and Leone's mum is a big believer in horoscopes and tells her twin kids that someone new will come into their life soon, who will be an aries. Lo' and behold, Jamie Cooper, one of Theo's ex lecturers, needs a roomate and Leone and Theo are looking. Theo tries to hook his sister up with Jamie, but instead ends up falling for him instead.

The whole plot is basically Jamie/Theo banter and will they get together, will they not get together? and don't get me wrong, it's super funny and addictive. The main couple have a really fun dynamic and the story is super fluffy so it carries you along really quickly but really nothing happens.

The real plus of this book, for me, is it's short and it goes by fast. I didn't really ever feel like it was dragging it and that made it a quick read.
But I just wish it had been a little .... more

There were some elements I really liked and I think were really well done.

• The slow-burn was super well done, nothing felt rushed and the romance felt authentic
• It was kind of soft? I appreciated it wasn't super angsty and didn't have random annoying plot points thrown in just to make them suffer. I am literally soft okay like sometimes I become angst emo but mostly I love the soft
• leone was blind and from my pov pretty good representation. she was independent, determined, super kind, wasn't desexualised and loved to read !! which is such a great subversion I loved she listened to audiobooks and that was okay
• good family relationships !! I loved leone/theo and jamie's families so much
• there is a side character in a relationship who says he's demisexual and explains that that means whooo
• the sex scenes were well written and not like fanfic cringey

BUT BECAUSE IT'S ME THE DRAMA LLAMA WHO CAN NEVER BE HAPPY WITH ANYTHING

• the lgbt+ discussions were kinda ..... ehh.
• first of all, theo, puts his attraction to Jamie down to the fact he's "not sexually repressed" rather then like,,,, the fact he might be bi or pan ??
• he's surrounded by lgbt+ friends and none of them are like 'hey man, bisexuality'
• so the erasure was really fucking annoying
• ur bisexual, theo. not sexually promiscuous.
• BI REPRESENTATION WAS BAD, to be brief.
• the fact that theo was like 0% concerned about coming out if he chose to do that because "his family supported rainbows" which ...
• okay it's hard to comment on coming-out experiences because everyone is different
• but having a supportive family does not necessarily mean you're 110% cool with coming out
• there are alot of societal pressures and childhood cultural socialisation factors that impact why people don't wanna come out
• basically society is homphobic and we're taught straight = good. gay = bad.
• we had a good oppurtunity here for him to go "hey, maybe I don't wanna label myself as bi because of my ingrained homophobia"
• that would have been good !!!
• that is not what I got.
• and I just thought the whole thing with him coming out super trivilised the issue of coming out and very much simplified it and eh
• I'm pretty sure Anyta Sunday is straight (she might not be im not 100% sure) so I guess she wouldn't have the experience herself but she could have researched

Also, the characters were not really very deep or complex. They were okay, I think Theo was a much better character then Jamie in terms of how well they were written and neither of them was so 2D it was unbearable but neither of them was incredibly deep either.

However, despite these criticisms I think OVERALL this is an okay lgbt+ read. It's really light, fluffy and fun. The banter and dynamic between the main couple is really well written and I think it'd be hard not to root for them to be together. They are really cute and considerate of eachoters needs and if you're here for super sweet couples but who also like, rip the shit out of eachother you'll like theo and jamie. It's nice to just have a happy, cute lgbt+ couple who don't have to die and suffer like so many others.

Theo reminded me of Neil Josten so ofc I liked him. Leone was a really good support character and I also liked Ben/Kyle.

Another tiny thing I liked, this book has little chapter headers which are super cute and funny. I thought they were really unique and fun and they made me laugh a few times

This book just pipped 270 pages I think? So it's a good one for a single sitting cute fluffy read I think but it's definitely not anything groundbreaking. But you'll probably have a really good time reading it anyway !

This was un-put-down-able. Seriously, I have only read a couple of shorts by Sunday, and I was hesitant to try the full-length (couldn't explain why), but I'm an official fan now.

Theo, and his twin sister, Leone, are living together and still dealing with the betrayal of their exes. Yes, their exes, not just one of them. Theo and Leone thought they'd each found the one they'd spend the rest of their lives with. Unfortunately, Samantha and Derek discovered they belonged with each other instead.

Happening parallel to this is the start of the new year and the twins' search for a roommate to help share the bills for their final year of undergraduate school. Through a conversation with his former tutor, Theo finds them their next roommate.

This book is an ULTRA slow burn, but in the friends-to-lovers fashion that I find so irresistible. Theo and Jamie knew each other from tutoring, but they weren't friends before the roommate situation. They go toe to toe in many conversations, both loving to rile the other one up. Seriously, the banter in this book (while knowing what it would eventually lead to) was foreplay all on its own.

"You're so organized. No wonder I drove you up the wall."
A few seconds passed before Jamie responded. "That's cute."
"What is?"
"Your use of past tense."

Theo and Leone get invited to Samantha and Derek's wedding (and, yes, I thought these two were complete douchebags for continuously trying to make THEMSELVES feel better about hurting Leone and Theo instead of considering the others' feelings), and they vow to be over them by the time the wedding arrives and bring their own fabulous dates.

So, our main POV, Theo, is a little slow on the uptake. Bless his heart. He's considered himself straight all his life, and thinks this bond he has with Jamie is the special best friend variety. He thinks Leone and Jamie should be together, because they're both such awesome people, and he can't understand why he gets a pain in his chest each time he thinks that. Once Theo begins to realize what's really going on with he and Jamie, the feelz will punch you right in the chest.

This book has it all: best friends to lovers, Quotes of the Day, a red JLM shirt, a well-intentioned but completely clueless MC, and Theo learning that you can feel emotions during sex.

Everything about this book was fabulous. Half-star deduction only because the phrasings aren't always American, and at one point, the pacing slowed down a bit.

I'm still rounding to 5 stars. Read this book!

Re-read via Audiobook

5 stars for the story

2.5 stars for the Audiobook

Theo was satisfied. He wanted to curl up and stay in bed with Jamie all day

description

-The story is so cute and fluffy and had me smiling.

-The chemistry was hot even with Theo being so clueless to the point i wanted to shake him and point him to the right direction i.e towards Jamie.

-The writing stellar and the slow burn is so well down.

The Audiobook was a huge miss for me. The narrator sounded so robotic, the only voice that i think he nailed was Theo's. The rest sounded like the whole cast of Family Guy. I don't think i will be listening to book 2, i will just read it.

If you are in the mood for a feel good slow burn, then i recommend this.

***ALL THE STARS!***

I don't even know how to accurately convey my love for this book!

--> By 5%, I was hooked. Completely entranced by the sweetness of Theo and his twin sister, Leone.

--> By 10%, I was completely invested in every word on the page.

--> By 30%, I was completely in love with every part of this book, already rated it in my head and had started shouting my recommendations to all my friends. Theo and Jamie owned my heart.

--> By 50%, I thought I was going to die from the slow burn of sexual tension. I didn't know what to do with myself...other than read on, of course.

--> By 70%, I had purchased the paperback because I knew I wanted, no NEEDED, this book on my shelves.

--> By 100%, it was confirmed that I was irrevocably ruined for at least the next week. Epic bookhangover, party of one, your table is ready.

I sit here writing this review with a smile on my face, butterflies in my stomach and a smiling heart.

This is my first Anyta Sunday book, and to say that I'm blown away is a huge understatement. The writing is effortless and all consuming. You are cocooned in her world, with her characters, the moment you start reading.

She draws you in with a simple paragraph that has you feeling like you've reunited with friends you didn't know you had.

Told entirely from Theo's POV, you are in the mind of one of the most emotionally oblivious characters. He's only been with women up until this point, and though he thought he was in love with his ex-girlfriend, there was a clear division between his feelings for her inside and outside of the bedroom...to him, they were mutually exclusive. Emotions and sex just didn't have any place together. You could have strong feelings for someone, but sex was purely to satisfy your desires...not a place where you connected emotionally, that's what happened elsewhere.

His feelings for Jamie knock him on his ass, but he didn't know how to categorize them, let alone how to feel them. All he knows is that not having Jamie in his life would shatter him. The lines were starting to blur for Theo. Huge flags waving in his face and he just didn't see any of it. His brain, his heart and his dick were never on the same page before...he didn't know how to read the signs. Just when you think he'll make you want to pull your hair out with frustration, he does something quirky, sweet or endearing that draws you back from the edge.

The evolution of his relationship with Jamie is slow....but SO WORTH THE WAIT! They built probably one of the sturdiest foundations of friendship that I've ever read about. And I loved every single witty, hilarious, snarky, sweet second of it. All the inside jokes...the peanut butter, the quotes...I mean, I'm melting into a puddle of goo just typing this!

The steam is low, but ask me if I minded? HELL NO! The sexual tension was delicious in its delayed gratification. You're on this journey of self-discovery with Theo...and he doesn't take his relationship with Jamie lightly...and neither should the reader.

What did I love most? There wasn't a big "OMG I'm in love with a guy moment," it was just a simple deep breath and realization of "it's always been Jamie, why didn't I see this before?"

I don't know what I could write to urge someone to read this book?

What magical words could I put in my review to get someone to pick up this book? Whatever they are...pretend they're here and that you read them....because if there's one book I want you to read this year....IT'S THIS ONE!

"Aries and Leo are so passionate together - and the intimacy. The intimacy. There is a tendency to get jealous and possessive but it's compensation with absolute loyalty these two have for each other. Really, you couldn't find a better match. Aries feeds your need for attention while remaining steadfast in their own character. Both of you need to prove how amazing you are, and while doing so, Aries energizes Leo. And Leo in turn cherishes Aries. Despite the battle for dominance, the relationship flows with warmth, passion, and playfulness."

This book is my new happy place...and I will be visiting often.

"For a moment, you're disoriented and water presses you from all sides. But I haven't let go of your hand and I won't. We kick to the surface. Before I do anything else, I make sure that you're okay and breathing, and when I'm sure you're good, we swim to the shore."
"And if I can't swim?"
"I swim for the both of us."

✧ i love the whole concept of zodiac signs for this series!! the fact that it's also incorporated into the story which, in this case, Theo's mom is into horoscopes and always informs Theo and Leone (his sister) their horoscopes whenever they interact was so cute.
✧ this was honestly such a good introduction to the series bc i was immediately interested in reading more of this world and its characters. 🥰
✧ the banters between the mcs, Theo and Jamie, was so cute and fun!! i picked up this book bc i was in the mood for something light with fun banters and i heard (*cough* thank you, marci) this had that so i'm definitely glad i finally got around to it.
✧ the little glances and moments between them in the first half was so cute and i loved how, although Theo was oblivious, you can tell it meant something to Jamie.
✧ Theo's text messages to Jamie??
🏹 I wake up wishing you were already looking at me.
🏹 I want to always protect you from dicks that insult you.
🏹 I don't want to kiss you. I want to kiss you in front of everybody. All the time.
and the way he re-enacted their first 'date'? YEAH, I'M NOT OKAY.
description
✧ i loved most of the side characters in this book - the moms of both mcs (especially Theo's mom, she was hilarious 😭), Leone, Sean, Ben, Kyle. <3
✧ Theo and Jamie defending the other from their exes (in different scenes) was just 🥺💘

p.s. take a shot every time i said cute (my highlights are even worse bc it's literally just filled with me saying everything about the book was cute) 😅

Theo, Theo, Theo! What ever shall I do with you?

Leo Loves Aries was brilliantly done. Humorous, original, and the banter was nothing short of epic! I loved this story from beginning to end.

Theo Wallace and his twin sister Leone have been - unsuccessfully - trying to get over their last relationships. Their significant others decided they wanted to be with each other instead of with Theo and Leone! Needless to say, I didn't like them anytime they came into the story. Well, now, Theo and Leone have been invited to the wedding and as much as they do not want to go (duh), they also want to show them that they no longer hold power over Theo and Leone. But only if they find dates! And thus starts the mission of Operation Wedding Date. It coincided nicely with Operation Find a Roommate.

Theo is just about done with his undergrad studies, but he needs help with his economic course. He had a tutor the previous semester that he really enjoyed and could learn from (even if it didn't look like it), but the one he has this semester is abysmal! So, Theo decides to try to talk Mr Jamie Cooper into tutoring him again. And, guess what?! Jamie is looking for a room to rent. Must be destiny! Theo figures that Jamie would be the perfect man for Leone -- win win! Except that Jamie is gay and has it bad for Theo.

In Theo's experience, he's never been attracted to another man, however, Theo was not the most self-aware person, ever. In fact, the opposite is pretty much true. He was clueless when it came to his own emotions and it was really amazing, and amusing to watch him get jealous of Jamie's best friend, Sean, and flirt with Jamie when he didn't even realize he was doing it. He recognized the jealously, but was utterly confused by it. He was literally the only person that could not see what was happening. Even Leone who is mostly blind, could see it. Theo was in practically in love with Jamie before he even grokked that he was attracted. And as frustrating as I am sure Jamie found it, I frakin' loved it.

Jamie has been burnt by roommate romances before. Well, once, anyway, and as much as he knows it is probably a bad idea, he can't help but be drawn to the quirky guy who will do anything to get out of cooking and laundry, but seems to find reasons to hang around Jamie. And Jamie definitely wants to spend time with Theo, he just needs to find a way to guard his heart. When Theo admits he is 'curious', but doesn't see himself falling for another man, Jamie says he's not looking for love. Sex is sex, right? No need to get attached.

Jamie shows he cares in a myriad of ways. He cooks, cleans, makes sure the people he cares about eat properly, he tutors stubborn, cheeky, students. If you need him, he's there, steadfast and sure. But he has no idea how to avoid getting hurt by falling for Theo. Danger Danger!

Things I loved:
- Theo's and Jamie's chats.
- Their first date
- A certain red t-shirt with "JLM" printed on the front
- Cooking vegetable lasagna
- Badminton
- Roller skating
- Theo & Jamie

I adored that Theo didn't angst all over the place once he figured out that he was attracted to Jamie. I loved that once he figured out he had fallen for Jamie, he went with it, full speed ahead. Yeah, it took him ages to get there, but that makes victory all the sweeter.

Most definitely recommended!

Leo Loves Aries was my first book by Anyta Sunday, and it was so much fun!

Theo and his twin sister Leona need a new roommate and Theo happens to know someone who needs somewhere to live.. his ex tutor, Jamie Cooper. Jamie and Theo have some fun banter and become fast friends. It becomes obvious pretty early on to everyone (aside from Theo) that there i something more between them.

This was such a great slowburn/friends to lovers story. I loved Jamie and Theo both, and I especially loved Theo’s sister Leona. This couple was the absolute sweetest together and I adored this! I listened to the audio book and I have to say, I wasn’t crazy about the narration. If the other books in this series have the same narrator I’ll most likely opt to reading them instead of listening!

4.5 Stars!

This one had a lot of my favorite things in a book.

Great banter.
Great chemistry between the MCs.
Slow burn.
Likable side characters - loved Theo's mom.
Low angst.

Rounding down because Theo was a bit too clueless about his own feelings and I wish he'd figured it out a tad sooner. But the ending more than made up for it.

Highly recommend this one.

I was sent a review copy by the publisher via Netgalley, but all opinions are my own.

(book #1 in my pride month challenge)

Loving this book took a huge weight off my chest. I'm so happy I loved it, because after being slightly disappointed in True Colors, I was really scared that Anyta Sunday was a one-hit wonder for me (yes, I'm talking about rock).

While I think rock was still better in a lot of ways (the writing, the conflict, plus it fed my love for geology sorrynotsorry), this one was pretty damn close (and I even might have preferred some things more than in rock).

Granted I couldn't give two shits about the horoscope or zodiac signs or all that (and that's the reason why I didn't start this book sooner), this "leading theme" (which is something apparently all Anyta Sunday's books have -at least the ones I read so far) wasn't too huge and I ended up not even hating it (mostly because it was actually the protagonist's mom who was kinda obsessed with such things and not the protagonist himself).

ANYWAY THAT'S NOT WHAT I WANNA TALK ABOUT because this book is awesome and amazing and all good adjectives so please read it.

The relationship is fucking great, I shipped them from their very first interaction and it WASN'T because I knew they were going to be the main ship so I just kinda went with it: I really shipped them REAL HARD. And the way they moved from kinda hating each other (but not really) to being friendly and then best friends was one of the best relationship development I've read in a contemporary in a while.

The thing is, there was a huge potential for this book to be totally cliché and make me roll my eyes (especially at the way the MC is oblivious to the nature of his feelings), but it was written so well that everything made a lot of sense and I never had the feeling that his being in denial of his feelings was a way to just drag the plot.

I loved every single character and the plot was always very domestic (I mean almost nothing happens except for relationship dynamics) but never boring. Also there was some awesome representation besides the one you would normally except in a MM romance: Leone, the MC's sister, is blind (and awesome btw, she's such a great and funny character); a side character is demisexual; also the MC never gets too caught up in labels when it comes to himself. The only thing he says in the matter is "I'm not gay", which is true since he's previously only had relationships with girls. I know some people want to see clear words like "bisexual" or "pan" in a book, but for me to be honest I really like it when things are seen as more fluid and not set in stone. That's the kind of representation I recognize myself into so I'm always really happy when I see it. I also liked that there was no major freak out at the discovery to be attracted to a man, and to top it off perfectly, the MC even acknowledges that he has that kind of privilege since his family is extremely accepting. I don't know, it was a nice touch that the author didn't really need to include but I'm happy she did because it's important.

There's so many more things that I could talk about but I'm just going to close this review by saying

Theo was beginning to think Jamie was enjoying the tease.

Folks, I heavily relate to this sentiment because my oh my did I enjoy the tease. I excitedly flipped pages, reading for the moment that the growing tension turned into something more. But at the same time hoping the tension never ended and kept expanding because I loveeeeeee sexual tension. Quick embraces, a sweet brush of noses whilst laying next to each other, an accidental fall onto one another where one person caught the other; left me feeling heart-eyed.😍 To me, Theo’s obliviousness felt realistic because Theo states that he never really had a best friend before and so in his mind, these feelings he’s having can be classified as being how you feel when you have a best friend. Friendship is such an important part of this book, whether it be between Jamie and Theo or Sean and Leone; building the friendship leads to a strong foundation for a romantic relationship.

“You’re so organized. No wonder I drove you off the wall.”
“That’s cute.”
“What is?”
“Your use of past tense.”

THE BANTER!!!! The dialogue in this book was so much damn fun. It never felt stilted and unnatural. There was an ongoing joke about how Leone wasn’t a fan of Sean’s smell and so one of the chapter quotes was Sean saying how it smelled good in the apartment and Leone says well it did because he had just showed up. I laughed so much. Theo and Leone’s mom was someone I loved hearing from in this book. When she asked how her Leo’s (Theo and Leone) were doing?? BE STILL MY HEART. It just made me so happy. AND WHEN SHE ASKED JAMIE HOW HER LEO’S WERE DOING??????!!!!! SO. CUTE. A book where Theo and Leone’s mom helps me discover the wonders of astrology and explains to me what it means to be an Aquarius??? ♒ Sign me up! When the meaning behind Jamie’s red t-shirt was revealed!?!? So incredibly beautiful and it endeared me to him even more.

What kinda threw me sometimes was trying to nail down the setting of the story. I kept forgetting that the story took place in America (Pittsburgh). Nobody really talks like the characters did in the United States so I just had a lot of ??? moments where I was taken out of the story. I have such a close connection to Pittsburgh and I definitely wish there was an exploring the city adventure with the two couples. Would have been great! Maybe a fun little competition thrown in there?😌 For me, having an established // clear setting helps me really get into the story and picture it in my mind’s eye. Sometimes Theo and Jamie’s chemistry did feel a little spotty. Or off. Or just not completely present. Or whatever other phrasing might sound better. The steam was super disappointing so I will definitely be reading the next book and also because I want to see my Leo♌ and my Aries♈ happy as an established couple which I wanted more of too. 🥰🧡

5 Why the Hell Not Stars!

You know, I’ve given out the best boyfriend award to a very precious few, but I think it’s time to whip it out again and award this coveted prize to Jamie Cooper, because hot damn!! This guy?! Ah-may-zing. I kid you not. If anyone was going to change a seemingly straight Theo to the other side, it was going to be Jamie, and he did it with kindness, charm, confidence, and caring. Unf. I mean, seriously?? This guy is obviously a work of fiction, he was so freakin perfect.

Despite the utter farfetched cluelessness of Theo, what makes this a rare 5 stars is the writing. Just when I wanted to throttle Theo and Anyta for the gawd awful torturous slow burn, Anyta deftly makes Theo lovably irresistible, and my cold heart continued to thaw, making it to where I didn’t blame Jamie one bit for falling so hard. These two dance, and it was antagonistic, playful, fun, funny, vulnerable and intimate. Despite my mind boggling frustration, I couldn’t help but like them both! Well, I like Theo. I love Jamie. *dreamy sigh*

So though this had a few niggles, the genius snark showcasing the evolution of their relationship was impressive. It was also chock full of hard earned emotions, and thankfully, Anyta doesn’t short change us on the sweet sexy.

All in all, very enjoyable, making me swoon multiple times over my latest book boyfriend. Hands off!!

Wow, I loved this one. There is a definitely GFY element here. Theo and his blind sister, Leone, live together at college. They need a third roommate. Theo invites his economics tutor, Jamie. At first, Theo is thinking of trying to hook up Jamie and Leone. It takes quite awhile for Theo to realize that Jamie is gay and the sparks that are flying in the house are between he and Jamie, not Jamie and Leone.

The tale is sweetly written and the characters are beautifully flushed out. Theo's mom gives he and Leone astrological advice (they are twins, both Leos). She tells them to find an Aries for a love match. Theo shows a lot of Leo traits such as stubborness, vanity, laziness (all in good ways), and pride. He's a smart student who gets all A's. Jamie, the Aries, is steadfast, neat and tidy, responsible, and serious. I loved how the two characters balanced each other. And Theo's path to self-discovery about his feelings for Jamie was realistic and also compelling reading.

There's low angst and some steam but this is more romance than erotica (which I liked).

It's such a treat to have a new Anyta Sunday. Definitely read this one!

Actual Rating: 3.5 Stars. I really don't have much to say; this is a cute, but fairly typical romance.

It would be nice if just one romance novel could use the word "bisexual". Let my soul rest, for the love of god. It's one thing to have characters who haven't identified themselves yet, or characters who don't really use labels. But in romance like this? The lack of even mentioning bisexuality is a trend, and it's a problem.

I don’t know. It was really cute, but it had this feeling at points of being... you know, written by someone who found the entire concept of writing a romance between two guys really hot. And that’s fine. But it is definitely not comfortable for me. And I can't imagine it being a comfortable read as a queer guy.

5 stars all the way. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 This was just absolutely delightful, and yes, it was no great surprise [the clues are in the story] when Mr Jamie Cooper told Theo he was gay, and I'd also had a guess at what 'JLM' meant before we were told for definite. Such a lovely read from Anyta, and I for one will definitely be carrying on with the rest of the series. So happy Leo found his Aries...

🎧🎧🎧 Audio Review 🎧🎧🎧

Dreadful. DNF. Never heard of the narrator before, and certainly wouldn't buy anything of his in future. He is monotonous, and about as interesting to listen to as watching paint dry must be....I was COMPLETELY & UTTERLY underwhelmed. His Jamie sounds as though he has a stick up his backside...so pompous, and Theo is wooden...but not in a good way 😉.

I've been quite fair I think and listened to a quarter of it, but enough's enough. There is no way I can listen to another chapter. Such a shame that Tantor's poor choice of narrator [they do seem to be particularly clueless at times about some of the narrators they pair with stories 🤬] can adversely affect/ruin the way the listener 'hears' the book...the complete opposite of say Spencer Goss narrating Out of Nowhere, which elevated the story to sublime levels for me. Oh well, back to the Kindle version 🙁....not that that's a hardship 😉😉.
August 26, 2018
I started this off with the audio and had to return it. The narrator's performance did not do justice to these amazing MCs.

I really, really enjoyed Theo and Jamie's relationship development. Theo's cluelessness was so endearing. What I loved the most was the lack of awkwardness, even after Theo was clued in to the fact that Jamie was gay and they shared their first kiss. I have to say it's one of the best friends to lover's stories I've had the pleasure of reading.

Two reason's for 4 instead of 5 stars: I wanted Jamie's pov, and the ending was not enough for me. I wanted an epilogue.

This was absolutely adorable 😍

Theo was so oblivious and Jamie was an absolute sweetheart even when exasperated. This relationship was so wholesome that I was smiling like an idiot for the entire time of reading this book.

I think their declarations of love are up there in my top ten - the t-shirt made me tear up and the acts of service...🥹🥹🥹🥹

I even loved all the horoscope stuff - I'm a huge astrology fan and I am that Gemini who loves reading horoscopes 😂

This was a very cute "friends to lovers" story, that was low on angst and high on the "feel good" moments.

Theo and Leone are twin leo's living together. Now normally, I would say that a horoscope sign isn't very important info to have about a character, but in this case...it really is :P

These twin Leo's are still trying to get over the hurt, of their exes running of together..

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor say what + gif

Yep, you heard me right. Theo's girlfriend Sam and Leone's boyfriend Derek, ran of together !! And that's not all folks. No...they also have the fucking nerve to invite the twins to their upcoming wedding. What a bunch of assholes !! Maybe they weren't malicious about it, and I understand they didn't fall in love on purpose, but still...have some fucking respect !!

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor how many assholes are on this ship + gif

Theo and Leone don't want them to know how hurt they still are, so they make a pact. They will go to this wedding and they will find each other dates !!

Which brings us to Mr. Jamie Cooper, Aries and Theo's former Econ tutor.

The three of them form an instant connection and Jamie even becomes their new roommate.

Theo and Jamie were so funny together. I loved their banter and so did Theo. He figures Jamie is an outstanding guy and therefore, the perfect man for his sister. Damn but Theo was clueless......

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor you are so clueless + gif

I loved him though...he was so sweet and cute and he was trying to be a good friend and brother. So it takes some time for him to get with the program, but no worries, eventually he gets there !!

There were so many things in this book that I loved. I loved Theo's "Quote of the day" and I swooned when I learned the meaning of Jamie's  JLM t-shirt. Theo's mom and her horoscopes were also very entertaining.

I also want to give some extra credit to Leone. She was such a strong and wonderful heroine...very refreshing !!!

Alisa loves Anyta

I was pretty confident I had my top books of the year already picked out and I was just cruising till the end of the year. I picked this up on a whim because I really enjoyed this author's book Rock. This was nothing like Rock yet every bit as good. And.....it jumped straight to my "Best of 2016" list.

Theo and his twin Leone haven't had the greatest year and to say they've been unlucky in love is an understatement. They are looking for a new roommate and Theo approaches Jaime who used to tutor him. Theo doesn't think Jaime likes him but he's desperate for more tutoring and figures if he gets Jaime to live with them it will be a win/win. Jaime does move in and the two of them become friends despite being really different people.

The entire first half of the book is these two falling for each other. Jaime knows it, Leone knows it, their friends know it and the reader knows it. But Theo? Totally clueless. That may sound bad but it's not. It's pure magic the way this author writes it. This has to be one of the best UST stories I've ever read. I wanted it to go on forever and at one point I actually thought "I could read these guy's story every single day!" When Theo does figure it out the magic doesn't stop. It just changes. Theo has never been in a relationship with a guy before but that doesn't really freak him out. What does is the fact that he's been burned in a relationship before and he's scared to death to try again. He plods along just as cluelessly in this part but despite that, or maybe because of that, this is an adorably sweet and romantic portion of the story.

This book had a bunch of great things about it. Besides what I just mentioned, it has fantastic characters. Not only the two MC's but all of the side characters. There's depth to all of them and they really add to the story. Both of the MC's mothers were fantastic. They provided some comic relief and I will always appreciate an author who makes loving, caring mothers (not the typical evil stereotypes so commonly found in this genre). Theo and Jaime's banter was priceless and Theo in general made me laugh more than once.

The relationship is a slow burn and I loved every minute of it. When they do finally get together it was without drama despite it being Theo's first time with a guy. The scenes of them together were both tender and emotional and totally hot.

So......I loved this. Really, really loved it and I think you should all run get it right away.
