In a god blessed realm where greed is the faith of rulers, Snowlin’s existence was perhaps the greediest act of all.
Born the forbidden child of two Aura, magical beings possessing god-gifted powers, she carries a burden of title. Prized a weapon of destruction by her father and hunted as a monster of carnage by others. The odds knew no favour to the wicked or kind in Numengarth, but Snowlin turned human, powerless, and a disappointment to the creator who intended to wield her in his claim for power over the continent.
After twelve years disparaged into exile, she sets to return and claim what the realm owed her: revenge on both her father and the night king who hunted to take more than her life.
Take and destroy were her plans. Use and bargain were his.
She returns to find the rapacity of serpents lingering in the air and at her expense once again. Snowlin, now arranged to wed her nightmare for a political agreement, begins adjusting plans.
While caught in a game of crowns, what would she choose to become? Pawn to the winter king or queen to the night king?
Wendy Heiss is a indie author debuting with a new adult fantasy trilogy, Winter Gods & Serpents, the first book in The Auran Chronicles. She has graduated with a Forensics Science degree in the United Kingdom, but literature has been one of her passions since she could manage to read and write. Despite being severely tempted to ride the Agatha Christie route to crime novels, she chose to follow the Tolkien path to fantasy. She forwent fingerprint powder for ball pen ink inevitably forgoing her parents hope for a good life and becoming what they always feared...a figuratively starving artist, which is why she won't quit her day time job any time soon.
Any whom and how, she likes cats, coffee, particularly that cr*p from instant sachets. Loves, loves when spring doesn't try to give her at least one asthma attack every year and threaten her life. 'Claims' to despise mafia romance from the pits of her gall bladder but will probably end up writing one herself to try and outwrite the greatest line in history: Are you alright, babygirl?
Also, fried sweet potatoes, she can definitely eat some of those without claiming to be allergic to yet another vegetable. On that last note before straying too far from a simple bio, please read her books.
Winter Gods & Serpents', the first very long instalment in the The Auran Chronicles series is clearly bound to offer exactly what it suggests with its title: an amazingly well-crafted fantasy world, full of gorgeous kingdoms each protected and blessed by very confusing Gods who almost seem to have come out of a very captivating Norse myth and its inhabitants -plotting and greedy snakes, tainting the image of the just and kind people who are struggling on the continent of Numengarth.
This book is not easy, this the first thing I would like to make very clear. And it might take a lot of your will-power, strength and even some prayers to get you through the first maybe 250 pages of it. I was really close to giving up at one point because my poor mind could not handle being continuously battered by the constant dump of new information, characters and places that were dropped at all times in the very noble attempt of managing to clarify so many things about this very complex world (and which, unfortunately, actually manage to just make you even more confused). However, once you very bravely manage to get past that and you make peace with the fact that you will very probably finish this book and still have no idea who some of these people are and where some of these things are taking place you are met with such a delicious story spiced up by constant banters, sweet friendships and a rather quick, but clearly very deep love story. You are, of course, allowed to discover all these secrets brewing behind the mask of political intrigues by following Snowlin, the FMC and the "monster" of this world; created by her father's own greed and by the wrong beliefs and deceit of the nearby kingdoms who are the cause of her grief and the flames that forged her thirst for vengeance -an absolute villain who feels no remorse and whose only plan till the very end of the book is to punish all those who hurt her family.
I am hoping to keep this reviews as short as possible and not fall into the trap that seems to have engulfed the author, because this book was just unnecessary long and so hard to understand at times. Therefore, let's starts after this already too long introduction. :)
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ-ˋˏ ༻ world-building, writing and action ༺ ˎˊ-
As I previously mentioned in my introduction above, the world of the book is really complex and really good in a way that it simply keeps you intrigued. However, in terms of world-building, I feel like there could be some big improvements First, it is cruel to build such a complex imagined world with so many magical components, each with its own fantasy name, and then attempt to offer everything about such a world to the reader at the start of a novel. I was continually compelled to consult the book's map since the action was shifting from place to place, and I found myself continuously digging back in the book for the names of the locations or persons to try to recall who or what they were and how they fit into the plot. A much more extensive glossary would really be a good idea for this series, because it is really a shame to create such a great world only for the reader to feel overwhelmed by it instead of just enjoying it.
My biggest issue here was probably the writing. I usually tend to skip any minor writing errors and not address them, especially for the writers for whom English is not their native language. However, this was a huge issue in this book. They were really obvious and so, so numerous that it was tiring at one point, especially since they were accompanied by some really strange sentence structures that at times were forcing me to reread the sentence just to understand it. I saw someone saying there is an updated version that fixed many of these errors, therefore if this is indeed true, that is amazing. Apart from this, the book is pretty easy to read; the genre was mostly fine, with some small exceptions that had me cringing and kind of taking me out of the mood of the book, but no huge complaints in this regard.
Concerning the action of the book, I also feel like some improvements could be done. It was getting a bit tedious a one point to just follow Snowlin around as she was travelling to different locations in her father's kingdom. Despite the fact that these excursions had very specific aims, which are disclosed later in the novel, it was exhausting just trying to recall where each location was and why the FMC and her companions were there. I did found myself skimming certain paragraphs because I couldn't take any more of this, especially since it seems like all I was reading about was this bunch moving around and killing people. However, I did love how all of this knowledge was used later in the book and what insights they discovered, but it was far too long. I am sure some of these events could have very well happen off page and just be mentioned because they only contributed to making this book way too long and even slightly tedious due to the constant repetition of the action.
When it comes to the characters of this series, I am honestly not entirely sure how I feel about them, but I am guessing this is mainly due to the fact that, despite the rather numerous characters, you are not really offered the chance to get to meet them more clearly. Apart from the main characters, which are also not fully developed or explored in this book either, the rest of secondary characters have only fleeting appearances, therefore you don’t really get to really feel like you are getting attached to them.
ㅤㅤ❆ Snowlin - the 70% villain, 30% morally-grey main character of this series, that you might never fully support, but would still enjoy greatly. I have to admit, I was slightly shocked by this character in the first part of the book and I was on the verge to admit that I really do not like any of her decisions and actions, but she kind of redeemed herself later in the story. She is such an intriguing and morally complex character, that despite her need for revenge that kind of rules over all her decisions and morals and determines her to act kind of cruel, you are still inclined to relate to her and try to understand her grief. She is, however, rather childish at times and her constant need to keep her guards up and hurt everyone around her felt a little bit tiring at one point. She might not be one of my favourite characters so far and I did feel slightly disappointed with the course of her development at times, but she is clearly intriguing and after the HUGE revelation from the very last chapter of the book, there is clearly a lot more to her story than what was offered up until now.
ㅤㅤ❆ Kilian 🤍 - the ‘way too hot for his own good’ mysterious Adriatian guard who swears to protect and defend the soon-to-be bride of his king with his own life who you cannot help but LOVE HIM. This man is insanely good with his words and I am telling you, his only goal seems to be to make your knees weak constantly and to make you wish for a man like this. I was really unimpressed by the ”silver-eyed snake” in the beginning of the book, but God this man is insanely amazing and really makes you want to risk it all and damn the king just for him. I was however, a bit disappointed that I was immediately able to realise what his huge secret actually was and therefore could not really be shocked by the revelation in the end of the book; but he is just as hot as always. I do hope, however, that we can see a bit more character development on his side, because his main trait seems to be his passion and hunger for Snowlin.
ㅤㅤ❧ I have to say that I was not very enthralled by this two's love tale. I prefer a nice, well-developed love narrative with important moments that back up the tremendous claims of love and passion between the two protagonists. Unfortunately, aside from the ongoing mutual lust of forbidden love, nothing important occurred between the two lovers. I enjoyed the simple things that helped them trust one other, but I hope the next books offer more to this relationship, as I am sure there is a lot more after that bonus chapter from the end of the book.
ㅤㅤ❆ Nia, Cal and Malik - the rest of our family and squad and the main shippers of Snowlin and Kilian. I badly need to know more about these characters and to actually get to see them more in this book because they seem to play such a huge part in all the plans and they do not receive all the recognition. It would be really nice to see where their story is heading in the future.
There are some other amazing characters here such as Alaric, Sam and the wicked and absolutely foolish King Silas who is the biggest joke of a father to Snowlin, but I do not see any need to mention anything relevant about them.
The book's finale was arguably one of the most fascinating and captivating I've read this year. I did not anticipate this book to have a shocking ending, but I was completely shocked and captivated by the incredible cliffhanger and all of the events that created the narrative for the next two volumes. I was overjoyed to finally find a book capable of truly keeping you in the dark until the very end and providing you no cause to doubt what is given to you at the conclusion of the book. All the praises to the author for the ending because it is honestly the thing that made me badly want to start the second book as soon as possible.
This book isn't horrible, but I couldn't give it a 4-star rating because there were so many aspects that I didn't quite love. One of my main issues is that the book was a little too long, and with the action becoming a little monotonous at points, it did not manage to keep my interest from beginning to end. There were also certain themes that were plainly influenced by another extremely popular series, but they were well-integrated into the novel, so I didn't mind. I hope the pace and writing in the subsequent novels improve, because it is a pity to have such a good premise and not realise its full potential. Now I will probably go and start the second book right away because my man Kilian is waiting 😩
Please be good, please be good, please be good 😭🙏🏻 because I've seen some really nice things about this on twitter I need a nice fantasy book with a nice world and plot right now
I’ve tried to finish this book since I bought it more than a month ago (I usually read long books like this one within less than a week), but I just can’t.
I really wanted to enjoy this book. It has all the tropes I love plus it’s NA! However, the grammatical errors and faulty punctuation (especially the latter) made the overall story difficult to understand. I’m okay with a few mistakes here and there, it happens, but I had to read most sentences twice to grasp the meaning and it prevented me from immersing myself into the story.
That being said, I know this is a self-published book (kudos to Wendy for that!) and I think the author isn’t a native English speaker, so I want to praise her for having written such a long and complex book in the first place. I would advise, nonetheless, to consider adding a native-speaker editor for future editions and books. This story could be the next big thing, truly, but it needs thorough editing.
Wendy, if you’re reading this, I hope you know I admire you for having the courage to write and self-publish a book. I know it’s extremely hard to push past impostor syndrome and self-doubt, so I hope you know I appreciate your efforts despite my review. I’m still going to keep an eye out on this series and future works, and I’m still going to try to finish Winter Gods & Serpents. You have the plot, a set of amazing characters, tropes us readers love... Don’t give up! This is just a bump in the road. I’m excited to see what you do next 😊
I lost interest and the guys pov was so bland I’m sorry- its such a shame bc the world seemed really interesting (and the fact that I spent time trying to understand it as well 😭)
Also the grammar in this book needed a lot of work but I somehow pushed thru for the plot and I would’ve read more as well but i couldn’t vibe with the writing style 🤧
The actual plot had promise.. but I really struggled with this because I found that I had to keep rereading sentences to make it make sense which made it too hard to actually enjoy or connect to the story/characters.
However from what I understand this is self published so kudos to the author for that! But the grammar errors, sentence structure and general flow of this just wasn’t for me.
I am unwell. I feel like I'm breaking. It hurts and I don't know what hurts the most ... The truth? The deception? Their loss? can't seem to be able to catch my breath ...
⇢ What to expect: ∘ Adult ∘ Dark Fantasy Romance ∘ Breathtaking worldbuilding ∘ Complex plot & characters ∘ Dual POV ∘ Political Intrigue ∘ Revenge Plot (exquisitely done!) ∘ Tension & Angst ∘ Genius villainous FMC ∘ Secretive, protective MMC ⇢ Tropes: ∘ Enemies to Lovers ∘ Slowburn ∘ Opposites Attract ∘ "Who did this to you?" ∘ Forced Proximity ∘ Found Family ∘ Arranged Marriage
⇢ Trigger Warnings: blood, violence & gore, torture, self-harm, scars, emotional & physical abuse, murder, depiction of panic attack & PTSD, loss of loved one
I bet the author never heard ; the shorter the sentence, the better. I was struggling to breathe just reading her sentences. Very predictable. The syntax and grammatical errors made this very hard to enjoy. I had to reread sentences 2-3 times to get the meaning of it.
“Careful love, your demons might start to like playing with mines”
Honestly, this was exactly the fantasy book I was looking for.
-enemies to loves🗡 -bodyguard trope💂♂️ -arranged marriage 💍 -political intrigue 🚨 -psychopathic murderous princess 🔪 -"who did this to you"💢 -"let me tend to your wounds" 🩹 -found family 👨👩👦👦 -betrayal🪡
the list can go on and on. It was all intricately projected in this book. I fell in love with the story and the world building and ESPECIALLY the fmc. She, being Snowlin, was such a breath of fresh air. Someone so different from the typical female leads we read about. She lacks emotion, is funny, murderous, feisty, and even throw adorable in lol. She is exactly the type of royalty i want to see in more fantasy books but I never find any author with the guts to create such a crazy character. Dont even get me started on the romance I absolutely LOVED it. Was literally blushing, kicking, screaming, dying, pooping. UGH like the forbidden touches had me literally on the verge of fainting. It is a new adult fantasy, and that is what made those forbidden touches even more heart stroking because all your doing is itching for them to kiss. LIKE GOSH I LOVE THE BODYGAURD TROPE, even more so that the male love intrest? literally the biggest softest sweetheart. He is a snowflake. I feel like if your were to touch his cheek he would feel like a cloud and right now i am just rambling so i shall shut up.
we also have the comedic side characters of course who i want TO PROTECT THIS GANG WITH MY LIFE. These characters already suffered enough like do not let them die.
"Let's tend your hands first, you will purr and lick me all you want afterwards"
Mind blowing and Speechless.
LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT

4.5 -⭐⭐⭐⭐ 0.5 -🌶️
The book was phenomenal. The world building are unique and the characters are chef kiss. Tension between leads are delicious and swoon worthy. There are some frustrating toe curling moments. Ahh, how could I forget banters? They are unlike I've ever read. And also Swordplay and dagger to the throat.
The story is sooo good with actions, adventure, banters, magic, angst, pain, past trauma and violence. I'm on the edge of the seat from the page one. There are twists and turns in the last few chapters that would make your jaw drop. So buckle up for a wild ride !!!
Did i loved? Yes Did i laughted? Yes Did i get angry & frustrated? Yes Did i cried? Hell Yes
Spring Guardians and Songbirds book 2 are coming in July, 25th of 2022.
The writing in this one is very clunky. A lot of times the dialogue was so stilted between characters that I had a hard time placing myself in a conversation. Snowlins innner monologue was just as bad with really flowery turns of phrases that seemed to come completely out of the blue.
The book I got was really gorgeous though and I can appreciate the bones of this story as something that seemed interesting. I just think this could have been workshopped a couple more times to make it more fluid and make the story flow.
Wendy did an absolutely amazing job at creating a riveting and cruel fantasy world, filled to the brim with mythology and gods and intriguing magic. I'm in awe of her creativity and how she made all these characters so relatable and lively.
Also, just a little note. This book got me out of a reading slump.
- Characters I'm a sucker for characters that feel like real palpable people with true emotions and believable flaws and hopes and dreams and Wendy delivered on this, especially with the villainous FMC. I fell in love with Snow the more I got to know her and I related to her so much. She starts off as this giant wall with snarky humour and a sharp tongue but little by little that wall comes crashing down and we get to know the real Snow; her fears and trauma and self-hatred. Killian was a breath of fresh air. An MMC/love interest who wasn't toxic but instead helped that wall crash down. I loved their dynamic and I loved that in this 'enemies to lovers' story the villain was the woman. I love that their romance was a slowburn and that they got to know each other better and better before their 'relationship' ignited. I loved that Killian's entire belief system was tested because of her past and present and that he learned and grew.
- Worldbuilding Holy shit. I still don't understand everything 100% but I love this world and how cut-throat it can be. I love the myths, the gods, the languages, the attention to detail and the obvious love that went into finetuning it.
- Plot and plot twists I half-decide ratings based on the simple little fact that I threw my book or Kobo against a wall. I did it with this one as well when that final plot twist came. I love reading foreshadowing and guessing where a story would go and yet I never had any good idea where this one would go and I loved it, I loved the surprises, the twists and turns and the betrayals and ohmygods I need more
- English and grammar English is not her mother language and yet she wrote this thick and very complex fantasy book in English and I can only respect that. I compared the first edition I have to the edited version I have on my Kobo to see the difference in editing and grammar and I have to say that the second edition is a lot more refined and clear language-wise. There are still some errors sprinkled throughout and sometimes words or phrases are used that don't fully mean what the author intended, sometimes sentences read as if they were literally translated from her mother language but I found that this didn't bother me too much. I still melted into this world and I wanted to remain submerged there.
Now excuse me while I obsess over book two as well.
Thuis is a very dense world, and I struggled to make it past chapter three, but I forged onwards.
The world is... interesting and at times a savage beauty, however it's missing some things to make this great. The storyline is hard to follow, not to mention the glaring typos found on about the every 6th page.
This book has promise, but it needs a lot of work as a passion project. It's good, but it is also terrible. The main character, Snowlin doesn't have any concept of regret, or to even feel much more pain beyond the surface levels of emotion and even then her arrogance and verbose lines of dialog kills it. Even then, the author continues to use popular lines in a backwards manner. In the end, this leaves the main character incapable of development and very 2D. To error is to be human, and we would at some point expect her to have vague understand outside of revenge and politics, there has to be a human emotional element that actually keeps a reader interested.
Readers read to feel things and this is wildly off of the mark.
If you like your books long, drawn out and confusing, then this is the book for you. If I could request a refund on this I would.
I have been on a string of disappointing fantasy books and this was what I needed. So good.
Ok, let's start by saying that there is apparently a new edited version of this book but I have the old one so there were some mistakes. This isn't a perfect book, the way some of the magic works is not very clear and some sentences are written in the most complicated way possible. But who cares? The story is GREAT, so entertaining, with amazing world building, politic and most of all characters. This isn't a book about heroes, it is a harsh world with heavy situations and some realistic horrible, violent, power hungry and close minded people, some blinded by selfishness, others by bigotry. It's not a story for everyone. The pace is slow, expecially in the first half, it takes its time.
You see, there are many great villains in everyone’s story, but none is greater than the one these villains have created themself. If there is one thing I have learnt in my many years of torment from my physical and emotional demons is you either fight, side with your nightmares or you become a nastier one.
I fell completely in love with Snowlin. She is the QUEEN, the fmc we can only hope to deserve. She is an amazing protagonist, much darker than the usual fmc, almost a villanous one, but with good reasons. All of her life she was wronged, hurt and abused and she won’t let any of that go unpunished, and good for her. There are many who deserve to suffer for everything they have done and I can do nothing but cheer for her as she schemes, manipulates, punishes, maims and kills. Her actions are not good, but why should she forgive and forget people that have done and keep getting away with horrible things (a lot of those done to her)? Her vengeance is justified. As far as I’m concerned they should pay, and they should be afraid. She is a mastermind and a force to be reckoned with. And she is savage! Her insults are the best.
“You’re a psychopath.” “A beautiful one,” I said, flicking my hair back. “My prey die happy and with a great view.”
The romance is a real enemies to lovers, since Kilian starts with having really strong opinions on Snow and she, understandably, with hating what he represents, end it ends with him being obsessed and consumed with this woman and expressing some intense love declarations.
“I think about you now. I think about you always. My thoughts are only of you, my hunger is only for you and it is starving me to insanity. It is more than the need to claim you, it is the need to have you, all of you. Your silent head and your loud heart, I want them both. I want all, mostly and especially all.”
Their relationship manages to be sweet, full of banter (she is a menace and brings pretty hot wit out of him) and most of all angsty! Those two ache for one another and you can just see the heart break ready to hit you.
He did not flinch, not even waver only stared at me like he always did, like I was his whole world, like there was nothing else to see, like he only saw me beneath what most saw.
There is something wrong with me because I'm a sucker for heart wrenching moments;
I dnfed like at chapter 4 its so… the sentances make no sense to me and the plot is confusing, there’s no explaining for who is what and the terms and it’s just so boring to read so i felt no urge to continue
Horrible. Predictable. Typos galore. Repetitive. The list could go on. All the reviews I’ve seen praise the second book which is how I flagged this series, so maybe I’ll read?
How dare you, how very much dare you make my suffering so prolonged.
I don't even want to write this review... I'm tired, it's been a whirlwind. I've enjoyed this book very, very much but it's emotionally exhausting to pass through all these hoops of fire only to realise there's 2 more books, equally long.
Speaking abstractly, my friend and I were talking the other day about the sad - bad scale ⚖️ or graph 📈 if you will, as in:
How much suffering is enough suffering to justify very bad behaviour? Like yeah, okay, We support women's rights and women's wrongs. But...
Spoiler territory:
Her father is evil incarnate, there's a need to punish that, no discussion. The corruption of the lords - eradicate that. Truly, even if the King of Spring was a bad guy (spoiler, he's not) - kill him. Kill his council.
It's just that the obstinate, relentless insistence on ruining A WHOLE KINGDOM (or two, I'm still not sure if she's planning to crumble Winter too or just depose her father) because her family was killed is ... I cannot defend that. Yeah, yeah, Myrdur and *almost* all its inhabitants were killed, that's a lot of people.
Guess what, Spring + Winter? That's a lot more people. Mass destruction? Seriously? Hells to the no.
It's just that when we stoop this low I think of a certain mediocre Austrian painter that didn't like being called mediocre (I'm oversimplifying to the extreme, don't come for me).
Girly pop, this ain't it. Of course I know, I hope I know, all of this big big misunderstanding (that I hate with a fire of a 1000 suns) will be resolved eventually and that's why there are 2 more books.
Extra spoiler for the extra cherry on top of the ending and my well of suffering:
They met as children and she doesn't remember 😭😭😭 that's my freaking kryptonite. This author has run a dagger through my heart and twisted it a couple of times just for fun.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
okayy so genuinely this is going to be one of my toughest reviews yet. up until let’s say the last 200 pages or less, give or take, i was quite upset because of how slow paced and repetitive the story seemed.
the world and magic system is very complex, so i was struggling to understand for more than half the book. there was also SO much spelling errors (maybe this is just the online version) and at one point i was so happy i didn’t waste my money buying it physical. the female mc, snowlin, just went on a wild goose chase trying to collect allies, but every adventure seemed half as***. she reached i don’t even know where on this continent in the matter of a few lines and just killed people left, right and centre. i have to admit she is very funny when i can actually understand the writing, as it is so obnoxiously wordy for no reason.
i’m assuming this genre is more, “high fantasy,” so that’s why the pacing was much slower but why were some of her relationships not well developed then? she kissed elias randomly one scene and i was just overall so confused by her motives since this side plot was very rushed.
ALSO the big plot twist at the end with snow actually being ruler of the long destroyed olympia did get me, i have to admit, BUT i think we all knew, my dog knew, my neighbour knew, that killian had to be the night king. nevertheless, their banter was very amusing so i pushed through to the end. sucker for a good slow burn enemies to lovers till the day i die.
in a way she reminds me of aelin from TOG, stubborn and always trying to do everything for herself, but i just wished i got the several other main characters’ perspectives. like mal hello?? he’s my second favourite and i like him more than the main love interest. also how does nia get her information and where does she go all the time AND caidan just basically disappeared and we barely heard from him towards the end.
most likely will attempt to finish this series but crossing my fingers its multi-perspective🤞
For a book that I went completely blind into, this blew my mind. Winter Gods & Serpents is a Adult fantasy romance (check tws) and The Auran Chronicles Trilogy. Ill admit, the beginning was a bit slow but that usual when it comes to long fantasy books, however when it started to pick up, it got real good real fast and I literally could not put it down.
AND THE SLOWBURN OMG, Wendy wasn't kidding when she said this was a slowborn, but the stollen moments between the two and the plot makes up for it. Not to mention all the plot twists towards the end?! Oh my- it was like a slap after the other.
Plot was very much The Cruel Prince meets TOG. It was decently engaging (if you get over the grammar errors and typos), but god, it really was just too long. If the plot was cut down a lot more, it would be an easy 4 star. But by the end, I was skimming unfortunately.
4.5 stars....I finished it in a day so thats all you need to know. The world building is good and characters are so damn entertaining. Romance is in its flirting stage.
I promise this series is so underrated. I genuinely hope more people pick it up.
Fmc is hilarious and murderous. No unnecessary povs either and mmc is DELICIOUS.
Now the writing is pretty solid. World is well crafted, characters are well developed, dialouges are witty and fast paced.
The reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is bc of significant grammatical errors. Listennn, I can forgo few but here its like the book didn't go through editing. And honestly it would be fine if authors just edited for few days before publishing. As a reader it of course annoyed me and yes it's justified that other readers get annoyed too.
My solution was to put the book on "speak screen" mode and enjoy it. I loved first few chapters so I didn't want to dnf it.
I could tolerate the errors here, and hope other readers can too. I'm already obsessed with the ship so yeah I want yall to read it as well
Princess Snowlin was put in exile for years and finally returns to the kingdom where her father proposes a deal. In the meantime, she adventures around the kingdom, taking steps towards revenge. But is revenge as sweet as she hoped?
This book was a great read, the authors writing is beautiful and kept me hooked. Snows character is fascinating, she's a tortured soul with questionable morals, she sits in the morally grey spectrum while we also see soft spots in her soul. I adored her sense of humor, her antics and I loved all the other characters surrounding her, especially the handsome, silver eyed Kilian.
I cannot wait for the next 2 books in this series. I loved this book and love the cover as well, it's simple yet beautiful. Fits the book well.
You love enemies to lovers? Morally grey characters? Interesting world building with magic? Bit of royal politics and scheming? Say no more. Pick this incredible book up and experience the magic for yourself.

For a book that I had no knowledge of prior to seeing a video on TikTok from the author, and had absolutely no expectations of, I thoroughly enjoyed the direction of the novel. The world itself is a brilliant mash a familiar sounding words, and new fantastical natures that make you want to dive even further into. The main character Snow, is brilliant and I really enjoyed her throughout the story, but especially in Part I (*SPOILERS*) to the audience.
I cannot wait to read more in this world and series!

Snow doesn't really have a motive for being so nasty. At least, it isn't clear why she is just sticking her blade into people's cheeks and shoulders. There's a difference between being badass and just cruel.
