No One Knows Us Here

Rate this book
In this gripping novel about obsession, control, and self-preservation, a woman desperate to provide a new life for her sister enters a compromising arrangement with an entitled tech billionaire.

Rosemary Rabourne is already struggling to pay the bills when her recently orphaned half sister, Wendy, shows up at her door. Rosemary will try anything to provide for the traumatized teenager—even joining a high-end escort service.

Leo Glass is the billionaire CEO of a revolutionary social app. He wants the “girlfriend experience”—someone contractually obligated to love him—and he thinks he’s found the perfect match in Rosemary. His proposition has its perks: a free luxury apartment and financial security. And its conditions: constant surveillance and availability whenever Leo calls. It’s not the life Rosemary wants, but she’s out of options.

Then she meets her new neighbor, Sam, a musician with whom Rosemary shares an immediate attraction and a genuine intimacy she’s never felt with anyone. Falling in love makes it possible to imagine a real new life. But Leo won’t let go of her that easily, and his need for control escalates. So does Rosemary’s desperation—to protect Wendy, to protect herself, and, at any price, to escape.

(2.5 stars) - Intriguing premise that was hard to put down, BUT...

... the explanations & resolution at the end were ... unsatisfying

The creepy premise pulled me in, & though the protagonist is decidedly odd & questionable herself, the story is well written enough, and the desire to figure out what Leo's motives were kept me reading.

Ultimately, though, it's essentially little more than a techie version of a kind of Stepford Girlfriend story with a not particularly believable resolution to the trial at the end.

I didn't hate it, but after all that buildup, it was a letdown - plus it tacks on a layer of #metoo feminism that just felt overly contrived.

Then the romantic conflict resolves at the end as if it had been nothing at all in a happy-for-now conclusion. So yeah, a bit of a letdown. The 2 stars are mainly for how it kept me reading without wanting to put it down.

***CONTENT ***
*Sex: The protagonist has sex pretty freely, & there's enough detail to give it an NC-17, but it's not salacious or erotic - it just provides enough basic details that the reader knows what's happening

*Language: moderate amount of common swears, plus 7 f-bombs

*Religion: about a dozen uses of the Lord's Name irreverently (ie "in vain"), including twice as a curse

I have to say the writing of this book was super engaging. I also loved that it’s primarily set in Portland Oregon since I live near there. I didn’t love the characters. Rosemary was interesting but hard to connect with and she seemed naive at times. As much as this made it harder to read a book from her perspective it did feel right for a character who had been through the trauma she had been through. I am not a huge fan of the instant love thing so Sam was a bit hard to believe. I thought Leo wasn’t as complex as he could have been. He was a creep, but I just thought it could have been more developed. It was a lot of he’s out of town and then weird interaction then out of town for a chunk of the book and then he was an emotionally abusive jerk. I didn’t find this book to be as much of a thriller as I was expecting. I saw the red flags that led to huge problematic behavior that I had pretty much predicted. It was an interesting psychological suspense story and the writing showed potential so I’ll definitely check out future books.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free, electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review.

Expected publication date: January 1, 2023

Rosemary Rabourne left home after the death of her mother, leaving her half-sister, Wendy, in the care of her paternal grandmother. Now, Rosemary is struggling to make ends meet after the dissolution of her relationship when Wendy shows up at her door, begging Rosemary to take her in. Although Rosemary knows she can’t financially support Wendy, she also knows that she has a responsibility to Wendy, especially after leaving her behind. So when a friend introduces her to the world of high-end escorts, she can’t say no, and this is how she ends up as “girlfriend” to tech billionaire, Leo Glass. But Leo is not all that he appears to be, and Rosemary starts to wonder how far she will have to go to ensure her sister has a safe place to live.

Trigger warnings for: child molestation, prostitution, emotional abuse, controlling behaviours

“No One Knows Us Here” by Rebecca Kelley is absolutely unputdownable. Right away, I felt for Rosemary, and all of her choices had perfectly logical explanations, which made this novel’s plot all the more believable. After a childhood of abuse, Rosemary feels responsible for her younger sister, and is desperate to keep her from foster care, and each subsequent decision she makes is toward this goal.

This novel, in my opinion, was similar to “Fifty Shades of Grey” with the “rich billionaire and hired girlfriend”, although there was nowhere near as much BDSM (which is always a good thing in my books) and far more psychological dysfunction (if that’s possible). Something is wrong with Leo, and it’s evident right from the first page, but his true nature isn’t revealed until farther into the novel, which further cements his character as despicably unlikable.

“No One Knows” is narrated by Rosemary, and although there are deep, disturbing themes, the ending is delivered with a feminist, rallying battle cry that had me cheering. Kelley is a new author for me, but her previous novels have immediately been added to my “to read” list. “No One Knows Us Here” is compelling, addicting, and disturbing, while still managing all the feels.

This book was a huge disappointment. I'm going to go on a rant and I'm sure it'll include spoilers so skip this review if you want to read this book.

We start off with Rosemary, who may be the most unlikeable character I've ever read, as she navigates the city of Portland after college. Broke and living in her ex's closet, she's upset to come home from work one day and discover that her little sister has come to visit. Wendy wants to move in but Rosemary refuses until Wendy divulges a family secret and tells her that she owes her. Rosemary agrees that if she gives her time, she'll get a better job and come up with the money to get an apartment so she can take care of Wendy. Time passes and when Rosemary can't find a new job she resolves that it's probably for the best and that Wendy shouldn't live with her anyways until after she's gone to law school. After a failed suicide attempt on Wendy's part, Rosemary is forced to take it seriously.

Enter Leo Glass. He was a terrible excuse for a villain. He was a bad guy, don't get me wrong, but he didn't seem like a real character. He didn't feel like an honest threat and so the stakes of this book always felt really low. Leo is a millionaire tech guy and what he wants is for Rosemary to stay in the apartment he's provided and pretend to be his girlfriend for a year. What could possibly go wrong? Everything.

There's also the side plot of the hot, moody neighbor but even he didn't seem like a well thought out character. He's obsessed with Rosemary after they spend 2 days together romantically and then when she breaks it off because of Leo, it's like he seemingly doesn't exist anymore until he does for the plot.

Not a fan of this book and I had to slog through it so all I have to say is that I'm glad it's done.

I dnf this book at 70% I just didn't care anymore. The main character was just unlikable and stupid. I just kept waiting for something to happen and nothing did. It was my December first reads Amazon pick. The writing was actually pretty good it was just a dull story of very unlikable characters.
December 9, 2022
Wow, okay... First, let me say, I chose this as my Amazon First Reads and I don't regret it. I raced through and spent most of the book intrigued. I (mostly) liked it!

However, I do have a few nagging issues. And they're pretty spoilerrific, so if you don't already know how it ends, please don't read under the spoiler tag.

The synopsis here on GR pretty much lays out the entire book for you. Young woman needs money to provide a home for orphaned sister. Rich man offers woman money to be his "pretend" girlfriend. Woman accepts, but the arrangement is complicated due to her falling for her hipster neighbor and the rich man turning out to be a controlling narcissist (shocker).

So what you're really here for is how it all ends. Except that the author tells you how it ends in the very first pages of the book. Which, I mean... why? Why!? It didn't put me off from reading the rest, obviously, but having now finished, I think the ending was the weakest part.

With a foolish protagonist, a basic plot and a very protracted ending, this turned into just an average read. I was frustrated with Rosemary’s attitude throughout and thought the writer could have done far more with making the plot suspenseful.

This was a tough one. I really wanted to like it but all of the characters are so annoying and whiny that it was hard to root for anyone. It was mostly just gross and uncomfortable. They tried to make Leo some kind of hybrid of Christian Grey and Elon Musk and it came out kind of corny and unbelievable and our main character was very dull. She was doing this for her little sister, which was also difficult, because even the sister is so annoying lol I know she's young but ffs, give me a reason to want someone to suffer for you.

It was too long for what it was. Could have cut out some fluff and helped it out.

2.5 STARS

The blurb gives a lot (too much) of the plot away, but the ending didn't go the way I thought it would, nor did I find it realistic.

Right before Rosemary starts her relationship with the Mark Zuckerberg/Elon Musk hybrid, she meets Sam. Realizing immediately that he's her soulmate she basically word vomits her life story all over him, but leaving out the part of her being the paid girlfriend of a tech billionaire. But of course Sam realizes that Rosemary is his soulmate too, and can't seem to let her go. Guys like this only exist in romance novels, this would never happen in real life.

Rosemary was a frustrating character. She's young, just 23, but seems incapable of acting like an adult. She claims to have no choice but to accept Leo's offer, but she didn't seem to be trying that hard find other solutions. She wants her sister to live with her, but has no real involvement in her life and lets her wander at will (she's 14, she needs a capable adult in her life).

It was well written, and made me want to visit Portland, but otherwise just an ok read.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

I honestly had no idea what I was getting into with this book! I thought it was going to be more along the lines of your run of the mill thriller, but I was pleasantly surprised. I really liked the whole story about a girl trying to take in her younger sister after her parents died and doing whatever it takes to provide for her and give her a good life. There were parts where I couldn’t figure out if I was Team Sam or Team Leo, but luckily I went with my gut and liked the right choice! I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for something a little different in the suspense genre!

2.5 ⭐️ but rounding up because i’m feeling nice. First off, the main character is dumber than a box of rocks and probably wouldn’t know her ass from her elbow even if she were looking in a mirror (book pun intended). The absolute asinine questions she asked throughout the book along with some questionable actions (or lack thereof) had my mouth agape. Also, her victim/damsel in distress act got old real fast. Secondly, the last 20% of the book gave me absolute whiplash, I highly doubt that’s how it would have played out in real life - as many other reviewers mentioned, it felt rushed. Thirdly, the summary of the book didn’t match the actual story line, it felt poorly executed and all over the place. It wasn’t as much of a thriller as I was expecting, the plot was spoiled within the first paragraph of the first page.

I read this book in a day and I couldn’t put it down but only because if was like watching a car wreck I couldn’t look away from. However, kudos to the author, she does have a knack for descriptions and making the book easy to read.

P.S. He offered $2,500/month first AND THEN settled for $6k a month??? C’mon he’s a freaking billionaire, I wouldn’t have settled for less than $25k/month.

I feel so compelled to write a review in order to stop others from wasting precious time on this atrocity of a “story”.

Nothing happens. I mean, you keep thinking there is some backstory to Leo. But allll his actions just make NO DAMN SENSE. They introduce his mom, and you think maybe she’ll help with character development but she was just a random filler with again, no sense. The whole book was so dull. It was a straight road leading to nowhere. Like walking on a treadmill at 3 with no incline. Then just hoping off after 30 min.

It scarred me from ever trying first reads again. The whole thing was a sham for BS new wave feminism. Rosemary was one of my most hated characters I’ve ever been introduced too. She’s a grown woman and acts like a 13 year old.

Of course the rich guy is a psycho (with no good reason, except for he’s got money) and the next door lonely musician with a brother who died of new age cliche (drugs or suicide) is the good guy.

To get an idea of my taste and style in books + authors, for thrillers, I love Harlan Coben, Michael Connelly, obv Stephen King, even Lisa Jewel, but this book doesn’t even constitute a lifetime move. Those have more thrills and even points to them.

That is all. Zero stars.

Thank you to @amazon for my gifted copy!

There are a ton of trigger warnings in this one so beware going in. Now that that is out of the way-lets chat about the story. I really enjoyed this premise. It was dark and disturbing. Our main character, Rosemary, is extremely naïve and although she has good intentions/thoughts they don’t always hit the mark. I liked that she was flawed. It was much more realistic to me. She was also coming from a place of her own trauma so I could see some of her questionable decisions.

This is told in three parts. The first part being the longest. It really set up the story and as it flowed I really appreciated that the author gave us a full and well-rounded ending. There were a few plot holes and although I wished something different happened I liked the way it turned out in the end.

The story does have some graphic scenes and the writing lets you know. It’s uncomfortable and yet I was intrigued. I just kept pushing forward. This was an entertaining and disturbing story so you know I enjoyed it lol I feel like @rkelleywrites is one to watch out for!

Disappointing

The main character comes across as childish and pretty stupid. The villain is clear the second he enters, but she's not that smart. Then a lot of necessary content was missing making it fall really flat. you don't root for her at all, you think the kid sister would do a lot better without her. And talk about neglect, how did social services not take her away? The suit ties to paid her as some empowered heroine, but she's not. She falls a lot more than short of the mark. She's just stumbling through it without trying and without any real thought. She says so herself. And then it's the end, but wait, it goes on for another few chapters babbling about nothing. Don't get me started on the idiot neighborhood who should have run for the hills, but instead is "madly in love with her" but never tries to seek her out even just to talk? Really??

When Rosemary’s teenage sister Wendy spirals out of control, all she wants is to help her. They have both been through so much, all Rosemary wants is to provide her sister down safety and stability. Her friend suggests she become a high-end escort and Rosemary is desperate enough to give it a try. She gets more than she bargained for: Leo Glass, a tech billionaire, wants to pay her to be his girlfriend for a year. At first, it’s not so bad - Leo provides a luxury apartment and is a perfect gentleman. But as Rosemary realizes this is not the life she wants to live, Leo becomes increasingly controlling.

This story was like Christian Grey meets Pretty Woman. Think: billionaire handsome dude needs a girlfriend but has strings attached. I knew early on that Leo couldn’t be that perfect but it was a wild ride to see his and Rosemary’s relationship journey. The whole concept of “glass eyes” watching your every move is so creepy - social media is one thing but I can’t imagine that next level! The story was a page turner, different from what I would normally consider a thriller, but I had to keep reading to see what was going to happen next. I went into this completely blind and was not disappointed! This review will be shaded to my Instagram blog (@books_by_the_bottle) shortly 😊

The opening scene definitely did not hook me. I seriously considered putting this down and never picking it back up. Maybe I should have . . .

This was an odd story that didn't quite work for me. I mean, I followed along wondering what this guy's problem was. What in the world could possibly be his motive here. But the answers here, the story's ending was weak, and ironically, spoiled. And Rosemary--dear god. The woman is as dumb as a starving cow in winter and vapid and shallow as and empty well. I despised her character because it was laughably pathetic the way she was written.

Twenty-three year old Rosemary Rabourne is struggling to make ends meet, sleeping on the floor of a closet in a small apartment she rents with a couple of friends. She’s studying to take the entrance exam to enter law school, hoping to eventually find a nice apartment where she can bring her fourteen year old, orphaned half-sister to live with her. She asks her sister to bide her time until she can provide for her, but her sister forces the issue by attempting suicide which leaves Rosemary desperate to find the money she needs to get a nice place. One of her roommates steers her toward the Escort Service where she's been earning the big bucks. Rosemary's first encounter fell through when she couldn't go through with it; however, it put her on the radar of Tech billionaire Leo Cross. He strikes a year-long deal with Rosemary to be his fake girlfriend and against her better judgment and without having a lawyer read the contract, Rosemary makes a deal with the devil. Warning bells are sounding! At the same time, she meets and falls for her musician neighbor Sam but has to tell him she can't start a relationship because she has a "boyfriend". At this point in the story, I thought this might turn into a typical love triangle which I'm not fond of, but I couldn't have been more wrong.

No One Knows Us Here quickly turns sinister and creepy via stalker vibes. Kelley sets a dire tone, a sense of impending doom, which keeps increasing as the story progresses. It's soon clear to Rosemary and readers that something is off about Leo and the contract he drew Rosemary into - the one she failed to read. By midway, the story I thought was a romance turned into a domestic thriller with a dangerous life or death energy taking on a life of its own as it permeated the pages with a foul smell. Kelley's expertise with descriptive prose added to the building tension, driving a steadily increasing tension-laden pace full force toward an ending this reader couldn’t wait to reach. While I could nitpick about a couple of little things, overall I couldn't stop reading as the book kept me highly entertained and isn't that one of the main reasons we read?

No One Knows Us Here is a dark, gripping domestic thriller about lives destroyed when obsession, control and power are abused and decisions are made based on guilt and obligation. This story is narrated solely by Rosemary - a woman partially driven by guilt from an event in her past who finds herself capable of doing unspeakable things to protect those she loves. How far would you go to protect loved ones?

Rebecca Kelley does a great job tackling some tough social issues including the way a troubled past can bleed over and taint present situations in No One Knows Us Here. I enjoyed the ending and the way there's still a tiny bit left up to the reader's imagination. While there may be a few bumps along the journey, it's a highly readable story that I recommend to fans of domestic thrillers. I look forward to more from this promising author.

This was my Amazon First Reads pick for the month of December.

Unlike some reviewers, I had no problem putting this book down. As a matter of fact, I did it often until I finally decided not to pick it up again. There are many reasons for this, but the main one was how much I disliked Rosemary. Vapid doesn’t even begin to describe this character. I was barely into this novel when her stupidity started to show and the more you read, the more it lit up the pages, almost blinding the reader. The sad part is you are supposed to feel bad for her, I think. Regardless, if she was meant to be written as a heroine, the author failed, because she wasn't. There are other characters, but they weren’t very well developed or interesting, so you’ll probably forget about them as I did.

With that said, I admit that I didn’t finish the book. I no longer give into the notion that you must finish a book once started. That’s a waste of your time and time is precious. Unfortunately, that also means that I can’t say if the ending is satisfying. It may have been. It may not have been. Honestly, I just didn’t care.

No One Knows Us Here by Rebecca Kelley. Thanks to @tlcbooktours for the gifted copy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rosemary fell into offering her services as a call girl. When she meets high-tech billionaire, Leo Glass, he sets her up. All she needs is to pretend she’s his girlfriend. Then she meets her new neighbor, Sam, and feels an instant connection. Meanwhile Leo is getting more and more demanding and controlling.

I wasn’t exactly sure where this book was going on what genre it would fall into, but I was pleasantly surprised. While not quite a suspense or thriller, it got exciting at the end and had interesting social commentary. The ending really made the book for me. The main character was a little whiny and annoying for me, but she grew on me.

“Do any of us understand the truth of our lives, of the very best and worst that we’ve been through? Probably not. We all have our own filters, our own personal perceptions and misperceptions.”

“It was epic really, and ridiculous. Even I had to admit how ridiculous it was.” Unwittingly, the protagonist describes the very book she finds herself in. “No One Knows Us Here” is a wordy, absurd, confusing word salad, replete with despicable, unlikeable characters and a morally bankrupt theme underlying the whole thing. Truly one of the worst I’ve read in a very long time. It’s so bad it’s almost good, if that makes sense. Like a Lifetime movie but longer and pointless… know what I mean? Yikes.

Obsession and control steal the scene in this gripping story of a woman who is desperate to give her sister a better life, and takes an indecent proposal to be a paid girlfriend of an entitled tech billionaire. ⁣

Sound too good to be true? Definitely.⁣

Rosemary starts to feel as if she’s being constantly watched and as Leo’s requests become more and more strange - she soon finds the arrangement may turn out to have deadly consequences.⁣

I LOVED the whole experience reading this! I felt anxious and paranoid along with Rosemary every step of the way, and I flew through the pages hoping for her and her sister to finally have the happy lives they both deserve.⁣

Perfect for fans of You and novels of obsession and stalkers, No One Knows Us Here was also an Amazon First Reads pick for December!

Rebecca Kelley's NO ONE KNOWS US HERE is an addictive, binge-worthy suspense thriller that would be perfect as a movie or tv series.

Emotionally powerful, packed with page-turning suspense, NO ONE KNOWS US HERE delves into the sordid, all-too-real world of relationships between wealthy, powerful men and the young women caught in their web.

The novel also explores the domestic lives of young girls caught in tragic dysfunctional home-life situations with abusive men who take advantage of young girls when their moms are not paying attention.

One woman's desperation to help care for her younger sister turns deadly, engrossed in a dangerous game of obsession, control, and deception.

Rosemary Rabourne left home after her stepfather sexually abused her. She left her half-sister in the home, thinking the girl's father would not harm her.

When her thirteen-year-old half-sister, Wendy, shows up at her door, she will do anything to protect her. She is a college graduate with a low-paying job at a kitchen retail shop.

She already lives in a smaller studio apartment with other people. She wants to go to law school and has put her dreams on hold. Her sister is her top priority.

When one of her roommates, that seems to be doing very well, offers her her entire contact list to pull her out of her financial situation, she feels like this may be her answer. Her roommate has made so much money she is now a dentist and has lots of nice things, from clothes to furnishings.

How bad could it be to become a well-paid escort? Things would be better. She is not sure she can do this after the first time.

After lunch with one of the contacts, Leo Glass, a good-looking, rich tech billionaire and CEO of a social app, wants to hire her. She thinks she will be getting a high-powered job.

However, he wants a girlfriend. He travels all the time, and he thinks Rosemary will be a perfect match. How bad could it be?

When she hears the amount she will make monthly and is wowed with a beautiful new luxury apartment to sweeten the deal, she is in. Plus, she would have enough to take care of her sister and go back to law school, and quit the kitchen dead-end job.

However, she does not anticipate the constant surveillance and demands she is on call 24/7. He knows her every move. He turns into a stalker, a control freak, and a monster.

They say when things look too good, watch out.

She feels she has no other choice, but how far will he push her to her breaking point? She must get her sister into rehab after trying to slit her wrist and her eating disorder.

Then she meets her neighbor, Sam Ferguson, a viola player for the symphony. They click immediately. A musician with a tragic past of his own. They fall in love, but then she must tell him she has a boyfriend because Leo will find out. She must break it off with Sam to protect him. She must stick with Leo despite being paid to be a girlfriend.

When things turn even more dangerous, Rosemary must protect herself, and her sister, while trying to escape.

How will this end? Will she be able to break free? He keeps her locked in for days. Will she have to commit murder before he kills her?

INTENSE! I listened to the audiobook (and e-book) and Merritt Hicks delivered an engaging and gripping performance. I listened in one sitting and could not wait to see how this would turn out.

A Pretty Woman tale turns toxic and deadly in this provocative thriller of sex, obsession, and murder. I enjoyed the highly satisfactory conclusion. A perfect book title and cover.

My first book by the author, and I was impressed! For fans of B.A. Paris's The Prisoner and Robyn Harding's The Arrangement.

Hard to get through..

This book was.. a chore? It had an extremely unlikeable main character. She's not very smart, she's selfish, she's irresponsible.

I think we're supposed to feel bad for her circumstances, but I just couldn't. Because she was just so self centred and awful that every time something went wrong all I could think is "what did you expect to happen?"

This book does not handle mental health well. The self absorbed MC seems to believe that mental illness only occurs as a cry for attention. It was so hard to read her teenage sister was struggling with such significant mental health issues and the vapid main character only ever made it about herself. It was grating.

The entire book reads the way a thirteen year old assumes adult relationships work. I just couldn't take it seriously.

“Make it look like an accident.
Make it look like self-defense.
Never get caught.
I didn’t kill him, but I felt like I could, if it came to that again. It comforted me, knowing what was possible.”

Rosemary Rabourne is struggling to get past her traumatic childhood and make ends meet at her dead-end job when her recently orphaned half-sister, Wendy, shows up at her door. Determined to help Wendy in a way no one helped her, Rosemary will do anything to provide her a stable home. Enter Leo Glass, a billionaire social app creator that wants her to be his “girlfriend.” He is happy to pay well and provide her with a paid for apartment in a safe neighborhood in order to make this happen.

But then Rosemary has an instant connection with her new neighbor Sam. She falls for him hard and fast, but Leo Glass doesn’t take no for an answer. Rosemary, tired of the mistreatment from the men in her life, is willing to do whatever it takes to secure freedom for herself and her little sister.

Talk about a great first sentence to suck you right in. Wowza! This book features a strong female character put in the most dire of circumstances and I loved watching her claw her way out. But the book felt a bit disjointed to me and I struggled to like any of the characters. It is like the book didn’t know what it wanted to be. It’s female empowerment, yes. But also a billionaire app creator who is controlling and abusive but in the most bizarre way, in a way that almost doesn’t even make sense. I ended up skimming the last 1/4 of the book unfortunately.

Thank you to @rkelleywrites, @netgalley, @amazonpublishing, and @mbc_books for the #gifted copies in exchange for a feature.

A really unique thriller for those who love a dash of speculative fiction with their gripping stories!

Rosemary Rabourne is at a loss. She is unable to get ahead and lives basically in a closet as she works a shift job. When her half sister Wendy shows up unannounced. Rosemary realizes she has to do something, anything, to help the young teen get out of the house. When her housemate suggests a high end escort job, she is willing to try.

Somehow she is chosen by billionaire Leo Glass. He wants to keep her as a kept woman and have the "Girlfriend Experience." Rosemary is willing to give a try but doesn't take into account that she will be constantly surveilled. Before long she understands she may have signed a contract with the devil and it's one that she cannot escape!
If you like domestic thrillers, this is a unique idea and fun story for you!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I really enjoyed this book and the bond between Rosemary and Wendy. SO many twist and turns I could not put it down.

A great read

I fully enjoyed reading this book and always regretted having to put it down. The story was pretty different from what I typically read, but I was drawn into it right off the bat and I liked that it wasn't a typical whodunnit. I mean, the story is crazy. All of the main character's choices are crazy, but I liked it. And I really liked the ending. I'd read this author again.

I enjoyed this thriller overall but ultimately didn't find the MMC/villain to be very compelling. Sure, he was controlling and horrid on some level, but he lacked the threatening nature I would expect of someone in this type of book. Some villains move softly to be sure, but I never felt like he was really going to hurt the FMC? More like he was being stalkerish and overly involved. The ending escalated a bit quickly and I felt that there needed to be more "oomph" on the narcissistic billionaire's part. The FMC went from paranoid to murder really fast.

This sucked 😂 every point that was made felt super underdeveloped. The worst part is that it actually was readable the first 150-200 pages because I thought I'd learn some things about everyone involved.

You're just not going to tell us anything about Leo Glass?? Really? The excerpt for the book made it seem like this mysterious man was going to swoop in and pay for a relationship and it was going to be sexy and thrilling. "...Leo won't let go that easily." Homie did some gross creepy shit, but he didn't exactly fight to keep her lol. She basically said, I'm done. He said no. And then she killed him. 😂

why was rosemary so Ill? I thought it was going to be some creepy surprise that she was impregnated instead of getting an iud. Ugh I'm just so mad about so many things!
