Iโve loved her the second I found out she was growing inside her motherโs belly, and deep down I knew sheโd change my life for the better.
As years went by, our bond grew stronger each day, and with her loving me the same way I loved her, there was nothing that could ever tear us apart.
One summer, I decided to take a year off and go on a road trip with her to see places weโve only ever seen on tv, and to finally get to be who and what we wanted to be.
Free and in love.
But our adventure got cut short after a series of strange events.
Turned out that no matter how far from home we were, someone was bound to break us apart.
๐ช๐๐๐๐๐๐ This warning should be taken seriously. Genesis is an extremely taboo novella. Most themes in this book might make some readers uncomfortable, and I advise you to not read it if you are sensitive when it comes to certain topics such as big age gaps, very detailed sex scenes, dark themes, and foul language. You have been warned.
Seven Rue is an international bestselling author. Born and raised in a small town by the Lake of Constance in Switzerland, she loves writing books that not only make hearts melt but also push limits. When she's not writing, you can find her on long walks with her pup, Bowie, or kicking around a ball on the soccer field.
Genesis, is a taboo romantic love story between two unlikely people - the protector and his protectee. I didn't expect my outcome feelings to be so overwhelming. Those authors who dedicate writing taboo stories give a chance to those forbidden pairs who couldn't help falling in love, but the harsh world won't accept.
"Since she was born, her life had been so much different. She didnโt have a nursery she could take her naps in, but was always on her motherโs couch. Always in a dirty diaper and often without any clothes on."
Otis (39), was the legal guardian of Genesis (18), since she was three years old. He fell in love with her sight unseen. Even before she was born he was protective of her so he took up the responsibility of taking her away from her neglectful mother.
"She was my new beginning. My Genesis."
Giving up his bachelorhood wasn't something he regretted. His protection and his care dedicated as he unfolds layers of Genesis's childhood trauma caused by her mother. He was always determined to give Genesis a good home and shower her with unconditional love.
"...I had always loved Otis, and he was always right there by my side to raise me to the woman I have become."
What began as an innocent love between them blossomed more which they never expected. While this brazen love wasn't acceptable Otis and Genesis move on in a safe haven of love where they are acceptable.
The writing is sensual and passionate. I love that the story concentrates only on Otis and Genesis. There is a mild plot regarding her father which gave the story a tiny progression. I think there were few minor details which were not cleared, namely:
1) Genesis custody legalized by Otis, could be that he is her real uncle? 2) A man revealing he is her father but Genesis didn't try to find out the truth. 3) Otis and Genesis's mothers relationship.
I'm not strongly holding these points as there is more coming out on Genesis and Otis where more details may be revealed. I'm eager to read more of their love story after that epilogue. For now, after Genesis I'm reading more of Seven Rue's books. Highly recommend this book to taboo romance readers.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Seven Rue has a knack for bringing novellas to life with minimal words which is certainly an accomplishment. However she didnโt completely pull that off with Genesis as I found the plot underdeveloped and that affected my appreciation for this story.
Otis was my one.
I knew it since I was eight.
Otis has been the guardian of Genesis since she was 3 years old. He willingly sacrificed it all to give a young child a fighting chance instead of allowing her to end up in foster care. In turn he raised a beautiful young woman who was eternally grateful for the opportunity she had been given.
Genesis is no longer a child and hasnโt viewed Otis as a father figure in a long time. Yet she understands that making her burgeoning feelings shown is a huge risk. Because being in love with a much older man who is her uncle is wrong.
"Nothing about this was warped. It felt right. Hell, nothing had ever felt this right."
Otis isnโt immune to Genesis. There is nothing he wouldnโt do for her and the adoration is real. However, when she confesses her desire to be more than his ward, it gets a whole lot trickier.
As much as I wanted her, I couldnโt cross that line between us.
But even if my mind said no, my heart was all in.
One kiss and they will risk it all. With a road trip already planned, they use it as a chance to love freely away from prying eyes. Their moment to explore love and desire without judgement.
The disclaimer warns of extremely taboo subject material, but the genuine love and affection displayed, made it inconsequential. Genesis was surprisingly sweet, low drama and high on steam. It is certainly worth the read.
Damn this girl keep surprise me in the best way โฃ๏ธโฃ๏ธ And she keep feeding my need for taboo romances โฃ๏ธโฃ๏ธ Genesis is an uncle-niece novella that gonna blow your mind. It's twisted, steamy, but sweet as well, and also surprisingly adrenaline. Genesis loves her uncle deeply; Otis loves his niece unconditionally. Their love is pure, but it it evolves into something different when Genesis becomes an adult. A road trip gonna show them that they belongs together. But as they explore their new relationship ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ someone plans to separate them forever. This story catched my attention from the beginning, it was impossible putting it down; and it made my heart beating fast because of the lust, the fear, the love... I can easily say that Seven Rue just became one of my "must-read authors"
"As I looked down, I saw her blood smeared along my length, and I smiled, feeling like the luckiest damn man alive. She was mine. She'd always been mine, but tonight, something changed between us. We weren't sick. Or immoral. We weren't twisted. We were in love."
Woah daddy, if you like reading about taboo relationships (niece/uncle and guardian/ward), read this one! It's emotional, sweet, and oh so hot. I think this is my second Seven Rue book- it definitely won't be my last.
"She was my new beginning. My Genesis."
Otis got custody of his niece when he was in his early 20's. She was being neglected by her mother (Otis' sister) so he felt the need to step in and care for the little three year old. He makes a promise to always protect and be there for her. The first few chapters are about their their lives when she's still a child - it wasn't pervy at all, they just had a genuine friendship and companionship. It was really sweet to get an insight into their lives from Genesis being a child to her being an adult.
"Although she knew I wasn't her dad or mom, she loved me the way a kid should love the person who raised them. I loved her like my own. I'd give my all for her. Always."
Things change as she gets older. When Genesis is 18, they decide to travel around for a year in an RV to see different places. She soon realizes she has a crush on her guardian/uncle... the close proximity doesn't help their sexual tension. Genesis tries to kiss Otis one day and that's when he comes to realize he has feelings for her too. Things progress - but Otis takes their physical relationship very slowly so as not to pressure Genesis. But she is ALL. IN.
"Otis was my one. I knew it since I was eight."
There's a touch of mystery and suspense which was cool- but let's face it, I don't read taboo romance for that. ;) I really enjoyed this book and I will definitely read more from this author! <3
SAFETY: Age: 18h, 39H Cheating: no! OM/OW drama: no! Sex scene with OM/OW: no! Virgin/celibate/manwhore: virgin heroine, celibate hero. He used to be a player but hasn't been one for 15 years. Tropes: taboo (blood relations), Kinks: dirty talk, anal play Triggers: mentions of child neglect HEA?: yes!
What a wonderful story! Definitely my second favorite from Rue after When October Starts. I love her unique plots like this one, never repetitive. Like her other stories, this was very taboo with an over 20 year age gap and a legal guardian relationship.
Genesis is the daughter of a drug addict and an unknown father. At the age of three, her mother goes to prison and she is adopted by Otis. She is a very unique and wonderful person.
Otis is the legal guardian of Genesis and cares so much about her. He loves her more than anything and gives up his bachelorhood to raise her.
All in all, a very unique, sweet, and oh-so taboo story that I would suggest if you like those traits!
Not into it. Too fast-paced and all over the place. I'm not even going to write a full review on it because it was that bad.
Genesis followed a forbidden storyline between an uncle and his niece. He raised her since her mother went to jail when she was three years old, then they began to develop feelings for each other since she was 16 but never acted on it until she was 18, on the brink of their road trip.
If you like mindless strings of sex scenes, then this is definitely for you. Unfortunately, I like my books with a coherent, realistic, and logical plot to it, so Genesis was not my cup of tea. Both Genesis and Otis acted so casually about everything as if what they were doing was not incest. He kept reasoning it as "legal" because apparently, in Canada, uncles and their nieces can be together? I did not know that.
The extreme lack of moral questioning from both of them made me gag. As if. They immediately just jumped right into it. Ugh. I'm not too fond of books like this.
Iโve loved her the second I found out she was growing inside her motherโs belly, and deep down I knew sheโd change my life for the better. this particular sentence caught my attention when i first read the blurb and wow, this one was so good..!
Genesis features the forbidden love between Otis and Genesis (what a beautiful name btw). It's a niece/uncle relationship that developed SO beautifully even though it's a novella. I can't stress how much I enjoyed reading about their little interactions in the front part of the book. Being her legal guardian, Otis made it his mission to take care of his little girl and to give her all the love she needed as she grew up. From then, they became inseparable. even when Genesis was just a little girl, they somehow managed to form a beautiful bond (in a non sexual way) and trusted each other wholeheartedly.
The storyline is brilliant. I'm truly amazed by how Seven Rue portrays the different 'layers' of love Otis has for Genesis. From a protective love to an urgent, fiery and intense love for Genesis.
Oh and of course, it's steamy but i feel like its more towards the sweeter side ๐4.5 stars!
Holy shit. No kidding about the fact that this was an insanely taboo book. Like, I was prepared for it but it still made me a little uncomfortable. So yeah, read at your own discretion, guys.
BUTTTTT what a fantastic book. It really was amazing. And I am SO VERY GRATEFUL to read a book with an amazing age gap (21 years!!) without the godforsaken daddy kink. I think the absence of daddy kink in this book is the only way I could stomach the circumstances. The book was incredible, I literally felt warm the first time they kissed (and everytime after) because oh my LORDY was it super fucking hot. I loved almost all the scenes in the book and I think I might want to reread this sometime soon. I didn't think this would be in the reread category in the beginning because I was having a hard time feeling okay with the fact that 1. He was her legal guardian, 2. He'd had her since she was three, and 3. He pretty much raised her. It was incredibly awkward but that was bound to happen because helLO?? IT IS A TABOO BOOK. So I sucked it up, read the reviews, and soldiered on. And I am glad that I did because I enjoyed it. I'm still a little conservative about the circumstances, But I still enjoyed it,,,,,so,,,,,,,,I don't even know.

Ahhh... en el medio, tambiรฉn hubo un poco de melodrama berreta. Eso es todo, nunca mรกs vuelvo a leer a esta autora.
If you are bothered by the idea of a 39-year-old guardian hooking up with his 18-year-old ward, then this maybe too much for you. He got the custody over her when she was three and it was kinda weird to hear his thoughts as she grew up. But you know, this is fiction.
Repeat after me. Fiction.
As a story, it was okay. I was kinda hoping for a spicier romance but this, by my definition, was quite tame in smut.
OMG I just finished this book at 5 am and work starts for me in 3 hours... the beginning was so sweet and adorable. I was wondering when it was going to shift to the present day. When it did, it was a bit of a shift. The book was hot though.
I felt the part about Colson wasn't fully fleshed out. I'm pretty sure he was actually her dad, but I would have liked Otis to explain more. Also, what kind of name is Otis? Reminds me of a seal. I would have liked this book to be longer and the resolution to be more fleshed out. And what shop are they opening? like what And is she pregnant at the end because he did not use a condom? I need answers
From the relationship, plot, and spice this book deserves a solid 5 stars. Taboo at its finest Uncle\ niece. If youโve read any Seven books than you know that she normally doesnt have A lot of details in her books. This one definitely does and thatโs something that I really really enjoyed.
โOur Love would be Described as Vile. Sinful. Immoral. But those words mean nothing to us.โ A Sinfully Taboo (Niece-Uncle) + emotional Novellaโค. I totally fell in Love with Otis & Genesis! Completed this amazing Story in a few hours๐.
โShe deserved to Grow up in a safe Home, and I would be the on to give that to her. She was my New beginning. My Genesis.โ Otis Fought for Genesis when her mom went to jail. He got her. He was 25, she 3. Even at that young age, that sweet girl had experienced so much... As Years Go by, The two grow Close. They were eachother's all. Their love was Pure. Deep.
Now she was 18 (Virgin!), Their love? It was same, yet different. She couldn't help but want him. He was the one. AND When she made her move, a day before Their Road trip.. *wink* He wanted her too. It's Forbidden. Taboo. It should be wrong. But..It felt Right. Natural.
They already loved eachother, Now it was on a even higher level. The 1yr Road trip fed their wanderlust. Gave them a Chance to BE, without Prying eyes.
He's so Sweet to her! The two Explored their relation, Travelling, Have Fun, Kisses & Lots of sexy times!โค (The scene where he took her virginity..So Hot+Beautiful!)
But..Weird things happened. A strange man, Scratches on their RV, Someone Watching.. Even Away from their town, Someone wanted to break them apart. Who? Why?
AND, when That Guy Kidnaps Genesis..He took it Too far. Otis will rescue her, no matter what. She's his Everything. That was A Heart-racing Scene! But, Both Otis & Genesis are smart, Solution isn't far๐. *Whew* everyone's alright! ~Dotty, Old shop lady, was so sweetโค.~
Genesis & Otis are together again๐. This was just a hindrance in their trip..It isn't the end of it.
The story was Beautiful+Lovable! The epilogue was Awesomeโค. I loved to see them starting a new life, where they could be themselves. โThere were so many Reasons why I Loved Otis so much. But there was only one thing that just always stayed on the very top of that list. His way of Loving me. Deeply. Unconditionally.โ
P.s. I'm so excited For Their Next Novelette๐. I can't wait to visit Otis & Genesis again!
This is only the second book by Seven Rue that I read and I already think that CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG, you people out there that read more books by her.
In this book the pregnancy didn't bother me and it felt ok. Otis has this father air about him and I really couldn't see this book ending without him at least mentioning that he wants one, so I was kind of expecting this one and I didn't really get that mad at the end.
What didn't sit well with me was the guy (I don't remember his name) who was or was not Genesis's father. Was he her father or not?! I mean why put him in the book if you don't tell us 100% that he is or not. Correct me if I am wrong, BUT I don't remember it being said that he is 100% her father and it pissed me off a little. Also, him damaging their RV was ANNOYING, I was there pissed with Otis big time. I hate it when people damage another person's property because it is just so wrong.
This one was better than my first Seven Rue read and I am kind of glad I didn't move on from this author. Sometimes when I find a new author I always read at least two or three books before deciding if I like the author or not.
It was more about sexual scenes than about the story.
A guy has adopted his niece because his sister is a drug addict and doesn't care about her child. This is an age-gap romance story with 21 years of age gap. As the girl grew she started developing feeling for the guy which is more than a parental love. They planned on going on a road trip in RV. Slowly they started getting intimate but do you think every story can be as perfect as they wish it to be? They slowly started noticing something is wrong or maybe someone is following them. But who do you think it could be? Do you think someone is planning to rob them or kill them?
The story of Genesis and Otis who becomes her legal guardian when she is three. They love each other as family and there is no hint of anything more until Genesis has turned 18 and her feelings are made clear. Pretty much as soon as this happens the sexual aspect of the relationship begins with .
Overall I liked this story, yes it was kind of taboo but they weren't related (nor did they ever think they were as in some stories) and she was legal, so I guess it may not have that really forbidden aspect some might be looking for.
I would have liked to see more exploration of Otis's feelings. We had his POV but it felt kind of shallow and mostly just focussed on how he wanted to fuck her (though there was plenty of declarations of love).
It was a quick read but I would have liked a bit more depth
I love extremely taboo books and this one was no different! This is a short story and I usually donโt enjoy them as much as the longer stories because I always love the build up of feelings, especially in the taboo stories where the characters try to resist each other because โitโs wrong.โ Thatโs all I was missing from this, but I still really enjoyed this one anyway.
Holy hotness! If youโre looking for a quick book filled with plenty of sexy time and hotness overload pick this bad boy up! The plot wasnโt real deep but it was fun and quick.
I keep thinking that the next book by Seven Rue I read I might like more, but no. 4 books in and each one I read I feel like it's getting worse.
You write taboo books? Okay, fine, sign me in. But put some internal fight, dammit. Each book is basically: - Hello, here are the characters - Oooh, this is forbidden, but... - Characters jump into bed.
Every. Fucking. Book. No build up. No tension. Characters are so one-dimensional. I actually got bored at like 30% of this book and just forced myself to finish it cause I hate DNF-ing books.
Aun asรญ me gustรณ
