Madison Kate is a new adult/college age dark romance with enemies to lovers/hate to love themes. This is a reverse harem series, meaning the leading lady has several love interests and she doesn't have to choose between them for her happily ever after. If this isn't your cup of tea, then this isn't the series for you. ♥

KATE is book 4 of 4 in the MADISON KATE series. The blurb below may contain spoilers for previous books, and I urge you not to read it until you've finished HATE, LIAR and FAKE.

◆◆◆

“I never miss.”

Riot Night changed my life.

Coming back to Shadow Grove turned it on its head.

I’ve been hunted, stabbed, stalked, tormented, and used. Hate fueled me, lies tore me apart, and in the end everything I thought I knew turned out to be fake.

Except… Riot Night also brought Archer, Kody, and Steele back into my life. No matter how much I’ve fought it, hated it, been lied to or discovered the deceptions—I want them in my life.

No one owns me.

No one is taking them away.

This is my life, dammit, and these guys are mine to keep.

If a war is what it takes, then a war is what they'll get.

WOW there are some depressing things in this book. Not to mention a whole host of other things which mean that, no matter how much I wish I could, I can't in good conscience give this book 4 stars.

You know how before, I was disappointed I didn't get an ARC of this? Well, now I'm glad, because it let me maintain the expectation of a good book a little longer before the illusion shattered.

Basic plot summary : Madison Kate (MK) is still being stalked by a murderous psychopath, who wants to take out her men and have her all to himself. Cue lots of killing, etc, a painfully bad climax, and a weak ending.

I'm just going to go through all of my points in chronological order, because I'm super disappointed and I don't want to spend any more time thinking about this book than absolutely necessary.

❌ At the beginning, the chapters were really weird and all over the place. Example A: Steele was shot at the end of Book 3, right? So obviously, Chapter 1 of Book 4 is MK crying all over him and stuff. Then we got to Chapter 2... and suddenly she's trying on wedding dresses?!?! I genuinely flipped back and forth wondering if my copy was missing pages. What the hell? Tate James set up this big dramatic Book 3 conclusion and then immediately destabilised it, like she'd gotten bored of it, and we just learn in a throwaway paragraph that Steele got taken to hospital. This was a terrible time jump to do at that precise moment and it was so confusing.

❌ The way most other women are presented throughout this series is frankly appalling. First we had Bree, who literally sold MK out back in Book 1 and then somehow got accepted back into the fold like nothing had happened. (More on Bree later). And then there was Kody's ex-girlfriend who tried to drug MK. Even Rachel, Steele's dead twin, is slated for her crush on Archer and being jealous of MK, which I found horrifying coming from her own brother... poor Rachel. In this book, we have Alyssa, a wedding planner, who literally never does anything to MK, and yet we're treated to a CONSTANT bitchy inner monologue about how sad and pathetic and cringy she is. What??? I don't get it, she was literally just doing her job as a wedding planner, what the hell did she do to make you hate her so much?? MK honestly just came across as being a bitch for no reason and it really irked me, because being an RH book doesn't mean it's okay for all other girls to be vilified so MK can feel superior. MK used to be a really good heroine in this regard but I don't know what happened to her here.

❌ The suspension of disbelief required for me to keep reading this book got to really uncomfortable levels. This book is OVERDRAMATIC AS F*CK. Genuinely, I could not keep up with all the soap-opera twists and I'm now really confused about what actually happened. There are multiple hits out on MK? And her mother had a twin brother? And her uncle's wife fell down the stairs and died so the uncle is suspicious? MK is suddenly basically the richest woman in the world? But she never knew? Her dad isn't her dad, she finds out someone else is her biological dad? I'm in physical pain here. There wasn't a SINGLE trope that isn't shoved into this book. It has everything plus the kitchen sink in it. This screwed up the pacing too, everything happened at light speed.

❌ The way it's described, MK just leaves a huge trail of death and destruction behind her. Step out to buy ice-cream? Two masked gunmen appear. Order pizza? Gas bombs are chucked in through the windows. Host a fake wedding? Literally the entire chapel is blown up and countless people killed because you're a selfish little cow who's happy to let innocent priests and bystanders die. Go for a drive? Car crash because of random bomb. I just cannot deal. Where the F*CK are the police? How do we not see a single police officer come to investigate? Sooooo many people are dying and you expect me to believe that the normal residents of Shadow Grove are just putting up with it?

❌ Also, her men come off as really damn stupid. EVERY SINGLE TIME these masked gunmen appear, they somehow kill them all effortlessly, but then don't even leave one alive to question about who hired him. The 'mystery' could have been solved MONTHS ago if they weren't so wilfully thick. Also seriously, how do these masked men keep knowing when anyone is leaving the house? Their security is honestly shite, we keep hearing about the guards and perimeter sweeps and whatnot but literally the whole book is a series of home invasions and shootouts.

❌ I said in book 3 that the series had suddenly taken a dark turn, and here it's turned up to the max. The boys all suddenly turn into heartless killers... and so does MK. This character development happens at whiplash speed. You'd think she'd show a bit more anguish over killing the man she's thought was her father for her ENTIRE life? Same with Archer and Zane? The characters didn't seem like real humans in this book, they seemed like cardboard cut-outs.

❌ You know how a good mystery writer will have threaded in clues throughout the whole book so you have just enough to suspect the villain but not enough to be sure? Well, not here. The identity of the stalker comes literally out of nowhere, he apparently was a minor character in previous books but I don't even REMEMBER him, and then James heaped more stupid soap-opera plot twists on top for good measure.

❌ We had the 'immediate best friend' trope which James is so fond of. There's a 17-year-old girl, Seph, who sees MK ONCE and immediately comes over and declares they're best friends, MK loves her on their second meeting etc, here. Gag. Why is the author so opposed to developing natural and believable female friendships, and constantly relies on these shortcuts instead? Also it's just soooo obvious that she fast-forwarded their friendship development because Seph is her next heroine. Incidentally, I'm not thrilled about the way her next romance looks like it's going, because the man who will probably be Seph's hero is a lot older than her and I'm just not a fan of that. Sure, MK can say that 'age is just a number' all she likes, but a 17-year-old with a 35-year-old is alarming for a reason.

❌ The 'climax' of the book was really horrifying and tragic. I won't go into it too much since I guess I should leave some things back for you all to experience first-hand, but basically there was a lot of abuse and suicide and it was a real low point. I could not understand at all how it barely affected MK, who let me remind you was genuinely pretty much a normal girl until she was 17. This just strengthened my belief that the smart, sassy girl of Book 1 has been replaced by a sex doll.

❌ I know this isn't too important since she was barely even a character, but... I hate Bree. I really hate her. She was having an affair with a married man and just piously projects it onto him, saying 'she couldn't be THAT GIRL who tells his wife she's married to a cheater'. Um, excuse me? You're already 'that girl' by having an affair with a man you think is married. Obviously he has a lot of the blame but don't pretend you're an angel.

❌ We seriously still know barely anything about Kody and Steele's backgrounds. Steele flies home for a memorial service for Rachel, but apparently his parents are complete arseholes and that's the last we ever hear of them. Kody's mother calls once while MK is giving him a blowjob, and that's all we hear about from his side of the family. Where's his dad? Does he have any siblings? When the hell is MK going to meet them all?

❌ And for the last book in the series, it's pretty damn inconclusive. There is a CLIFFHANGER at the end of the book!!!!! Admittedly not a cliffhanger related to the lives and deaths of the characters, but still one that IMO had absolutely no place in the conclusion to a four-book series. Basically, it was just 'sequel bait', to force us to read her next series, and I think that's a pretty crappy thing to do to readers who haven't even processed the current series and its characters yet. Also the epilogue is basically just a sex scene, which is cool and all, but I wanted to actually see them address some of their major relationship issues - namely, children. Archer is so into children that he wants MK to have them NOW (bear in mind she's 19) while she obviously is dead against it. They never have another conversation about it, not even to involve Steele and Kody, which feels like a bit of a copout. After reading nearly half a million words focused on murders, stalking, abduction etc I think we deserved a way better epilogue with a lot more closure, not what's essentially a hook to read her next series, which is what we got.

Overall

Okay, I think that was everything I wanted to say. I did NOT enjoy how overdramatic and unrealistic this was, I know some degree of drama is good but this was just way over the top.

This book was excessively long and not a whole lot happened, but a lot was shoved into such a small amount of pages. Then, when we FINALLY got to the answer of her stalker and all of the crazy stuff happening, BARELY ANY TIME WAS SPENT ON THAT. I literally had to message a friend and asked if I missed something because we barely got an answer. For a conflict that was dragged out across four books, this was incredibly frustrating to me. I was also very confused about all of this money and things that Madison Kate was inheriting or in charge of. What? None of that was mentioned in the last three books and now it's there? That was hard for me to follow. Then, the conflict with Madison Kate and any of the three guys (specifically Archer) was resolved by book three, so we literally just have them all happy and jumping on each other any chance they get, which made up probably 70% of this book. Well, when some random person wasn't shooting at them or trying to blow them up. Which, again, they didn't seem too concerned about and should have been able to solve/stop books ago with their money and resources. This book did not have to be 500 pages and I'm pretty disappointed with how everything ended.

Not just an ending!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💚🖤💜🤎
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📒
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌏
Character development: 😳🤬😏🤓😎

The heroine: Madison Kate Danvers - Her father sold her on the black market but has gone through so much and comes out of everything stronger.

The Hero(es): Archer D’Ath (a.k.a. blue eyes) - He bought MK for a lot of money and doesn’t regret it.
Max Steele (a.k.a. grey eyes) - He writes music and plays the piano like a dream. He also is great with a gun and his fists.
Kodiak “Kody” James (a.k.a. green eyes) - Personal trainer to the stars and MMA trainer for Archer, he also works with MK training her in self defense skills.

The Story: MK’s stalker has gotten closer and more dangerous with every book and more than one hitman has taken on the contract to kill her. However, her guys protect her with everything in them. They know they need to start narrowing down the suspects and get rid of the threats.

Again, the narration by Brook Daniels and Lucas Webley was terrific. I love that the narration was more like acting than narration, it even included sound effects like bullets flying and car sounds. I just love when there isn’t a female narrator using a low voice for the Hero or a male narrator using a high voice for the heroine.

This book had so much story, so much romance and a whole lot of steamy scenes. I liked where the story went in this one and how it ended. I liked that Madison Kate was a very strong heroine and the fact that we see her move from a weak girl in the first book, to someone who learned self-defense, learned how to use a knife and shoot a gun. She was definitely no shrinking violet and was a believable heroine.

Well...  I'll start this review like the end of almost every relationship...
It's not personal... Maybe it's just me!
Okay, not every end...
Maybe just the lazy ones?

Anyway... With the amount of 5 stars reviews, it's probably just me!
It took a really long time for me to finish this series, because all the books are around 500 (or more) pages each, and I'm an obsessed bitch who apparently, have to read them all in one go!

If you're reading this, please don't do that.
At least not with this one. 😂😂

Kate started a couple of weeks after the end of Fake, so you have right away the answer to that shit cliffhanger.
Unfortunately this book couldn't keep my high from the previous one.

Fake was my favorite book in the series (even with that cliffhanger), while this one was the last one on my shit list (maybe in a tie with the first).

I was already expecting all the action that happened, and that part, although very surreal and unrealistic in their own world, was what saved my reading time.
I mean... All that security and check ups and blah blah blah, to end up like that? I was a little disappointed with the identity of the stalker. He was someone that I already had though about, but come on... Until the end of the third book, he wasn't even mentioned.

But I'm also happy that it wasn't Cass. 😂
Small blessings and all that.

Every sex scene that you missed in the first two books, are extremely detailed in this one. So if you're into "just give me all the kinky stuff" you'll love this book!

I liked how things evolved, but I didn't liked how you could clearly see who she loved more or who was her first option to talk/seek/fuck/love *cof *cof * Steele *cof*cof*, and who was there just to fill the number of male characters necessary, to met the RH trope *cof *cof * Kodiak *cof*cof*...
I don't think that that's how reverse harem is suppose to be. I think that they should be equals in everything, and I don't feel like they where since book one. But what did I know? This is my first one!

This review is really long and I don't think that it's fair.... Maybe if I haven't read all of them, one after another, my vision would be different and I wouldn't bored myself so much that I feel asleep reading a bathroom's club sex scene, but that's not the case, and for that, I'm really sorry.

Thank you so much for my little Angel, who buddy read this series with me...
Babe without you I probably wouldn't have been able to finish! Our rants were the best part of this series!
Love it! ❤️

I still recommend this series if you're into reverse harem, sex, suspense, action and angst. Repeatedly.
Just don't read them all in one go...
You'll probably get tired, bored or both.

5⭐️

Ugh I can't believe this is over. Officially over. What am I going to do with my life now that I will never be able to get more from these characters and their story? 😭

This series has truly changed my brain chemistry in ways words cannot describe. This is the first series I have ever read where each individual book was a 5 star for me. Madison Kate's story is truly one for the books. Tate James did so well on this one!

I can confidently say that this is up there as pretty much my favorite series of all time. It delivered in every way possible from the characters, the romance, the angst, the thrilling plot, everything. This goes down in history for me.

I already have the Hades series in my cart ready to buy 🤭 If I can't be with these characters themselves, I can at least continue to be in their universe. I am not ready to let them go. 🥹🩷

That ending was evil! Lol I'm so glad I don't have to wait to read the next series! This is one time I'm actually glad I was behind on my reading! 😂

I've gone back and forth on my rating for this one, but I honestly enjoyed the Madison Kate series way too much to give the finale anything less than 5 stars! I wish the stalker reveal had been less anticlimactic for me personally, but otherwise, I loved it! 😍

I'll definitely be reading Hades' series and everything else Tate James decides to write!

Reverse harem fans, this is a must read series! Don't pass it up!

❥ The Gang is back and the drama is never ending.
Stalkers, Assassins and Assassination Attempts

╰⊰✿ “Without all of that, I might never have met Archer, Kody, and Steele, so then the answer would be no. I can't possibly picture my life now without the three of them in it. They're it for me, and I love everything that comes with them—blood, violence, and all. So, if your real question is would I change anything if I could? Hell no. This is me, now. The real me. And they're just the other parts to my whole piece." ✿⊱╮

❥ After the initial chapter, when I got to chapter 2 I honestly thought it was a fever dream. The way Steele’s shooting was Glammed over. I honestly believe it was all a dream.
But Tate quickly made up for that and ended the chapter with a BANG!

I liked this series mainly because of how well-written it was. But the books were way too long, having almost 500 pages, with that many pages I skipped chapters because they weren’t adding anything to the story, just adding to the word count.

In relation to the story, I feel like it could have been done in only 2 books, there was no need to write 4 books for that 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don’t want to say too much because I don’t like spoiling. The beginning of this book was awful with how the 2nd book ended. I thought I was missing some chapters for the fact that it began like nothing happened.

The stalker was disappointing he was only mentioned once in passing and it doesn’t explain how he knew so much about the little things in MK and the boys’ lifes.

Then the addition of Scott was so irrelevant that I thought he was going to be more involved in the story in this 4th book but, nope, he was just a filler character that wasn’t necessary to write a whole ass book around his stupid behaviour.

There were a lot of unnecessary deaths everytime MK did something like go out for ice cream, or just go eat steak with Bree. And I’m gonna repeat myself, but why so many events to make the books longer when they did not add anything substantial for the story? It was really annoying.

So would I reccomend reading this series? Nope, it is way too long, and the ending is anticlimatic. A waste of time.

This has been my first time reading (and finishing) a reverse harem series and I couldn’t be happier that I chose MK as my first! I genuinely enjoyed MK’s character, even though she does make silly decisions towards the beginning of the series. The boys were easy to fall in love with and had distinguishable personalities. We’ve got Kody, the goofball, Steele, the tortured one (with quite the pierced peen), and Archer, the mean one and leader of the three. I LOVED the dynamic between the boys, and I loved how head over heels they were for MK. The heroine is constantly (and I mean constantly - she does not give herself a break) having sex with 1-2 of them, and we finally get the foursome we’ve been waiting for in this final book 😂 I will say though, the climax with the stalker was a biiiit anticlimactic, but the action and suspense throughout the series had me hooked. I’m definitely going to be reading the spinoff series (Hades) once that’s complete! (Unfortunately….. it’s not a Hades/Persephone retelling 😩)

"You've got to be kidding me" is right! She couldn't NOT leave us hanging, could she?

James says that wasn’t a cliffhanger but I don’t know… seems to me like she had created enough intrigue about her new characters that she didn’t NEED to leave us in the lurch like that…

Okay, that’s all I’m (hopefully) gonna say about the ending.
Now, that beginning. I wanted more of THAT! I know that wasn’t what this series was about but it was just so sweet and innocent but sassy and funny too.

I just loved each interaction and conversation between MK and her boys. They were fun and simple. Plus the chemistry was as hot as ever. My favourite part of this entire thing was the characters and their relationships.

Some of the side characters did fall by the way side but a little understandable with all the assassination attempts.

As for the violence, it definitely escalated in this book. MK didn't just defend herself, she took 'her pound of flesh'. I wasn't a fan but that's because I'm a squeamish child when it comes to things like that.
I don't know if it was right or not but I could at least (somewhat) understand MK's decisions.

Near the end, we get the finale to the
I felt a little underwhelmed by that specific sequence of events however, I thought the way the plot carried throughout the entire series was well done. After everything, you were literally suspicious of everyone.
Great twist though! I only wish we gained more answers.

I recommend this series for anyone who enjoys steamy romances with a dark side.
I will definitely be reading James' Hades series!

The audio version is what keeps this from being 5 stars... Too many weird errors.
Although, I did occasionally read along with the Kindle version and there are some sentences I'm glad they left out....

Excellent audiobook. This book has more than the other books. Makes sense, it's the final in the series, though the ending seems to be a cliffhanger. The ending introduced who Hades was but I don't know who!! I think the author has another series...

So in this book, again, closest people in Madison Kate's life are getting hurt. Readers will know what happened to one person who got hurt at the end of book 3. I'm glad I know now. Because cliffhangers are good but they hurt me when I don't know! I like the story of how Madison Kate first met the two out of three guys. It was good. The banter between them was great. More Archer in this book!! The mystery guy in all other books! The story builds up the romance, getting readers ready for the finale. The stalker was revealed in this book. I need to get a view from the stalker to understand why. There's the gang showdown too. Definitely more actions in this book.

This series was my first read of such romance. I enjoyed the audio with full animation. The guy's narrator was hard to hear at times due to his deep voice but the girl narrator was good. Easy to like series with likable characters.

Thank you Bloom Books for the opportunity to read and review. I borrowed the audiobook via Libby App.

Well first of all… F*ck you Tate James. This book was damn perfect , and had the HEA I wanted so desperately , but still FU. You know exactly why I am saying this. I mean , yeah you gave us the HEA , but was that other surprise about Timberwolves really necessary?? You're a witch. Nahh , replace that 'W' in witch with a 'B' .

Now that my ranting is over , let's get to the point. This book was freaking perfect! People are expecting so much from this series and Tate has delivered that all and then some. Ohh and I know who the stalker is. Believe me , none of you are ready for that yet! I jumped in this one as soon I had my hands on it! And finished this one in one sitting and pretty much had my heart blown within the first half.

After that literal WTF ending of the third book , this one was a much anticipated read of mine. And it certainly did not disappoint. Every aspect about this book was perfect and I just know that these characters are gonna stay with me for a long long time! The story is flawlessly written and there wasn't a sentence that I could find which was boring. An amazing ride of emotions , this book has certainly reserved a huge effing spot in my top reads list! Kate and Her boys are life!

All those RH fans , this series is something you all definitely do not want to miss. It was everything. Those bullying moments , the vulnerable ones and of course , the gut punching Cliffhangers. But it's my personal advice that you better keep all the books of this series near by. I bet you won't be able to wait after a single book and before you know it , you will be reading the whole series! A definite recommendation to all the dark Romance lovers out there. This book has thrill , Romance and a whole ton of emotions wrapped up in a perfect bundle for you to devour! An extraordinary journey at its best!

The first time i read this series i dnf it but since i love tate james book i gave it another try...that was my big mistake. Not gonna lie, i did like the first three books but this one was a disaster. not a natural disaster a man made disaster that ruined my day. When i read the first three books i thought MK was truly a badass girl who doesnt care about the stalker, she might be annoying but thats cuz everyone hides truth from her but this book just proved that she is truly not a “badass” but a “dumbass”. Each book she slowly loses her brain cells and in this one she lost her mind. Like everyone is dying around her cuz of her stalker and she is doing nothing but having sex. Now i dont have problems when too much sex but like when there is a stalker after u and dude is killing everyone, you try to find out who it is and not waste time fucking. She is so ignorant and stupid, like girl you embarrass me for reading this book. This is a 500 page book but it would have been like 100 if there wasnt so many unnecessary sex scenes- like can we focus on the stalker? Where is the fucking plot in this book cuz its just sex. They find one clue and start fucking, they suspect one person and start fucking. And the worst thing about Madison Kate is that she suspects no one, everyone is a saint in front of her eyes. This girl is so fucking dumb, like she ll be the first if there is a contest for idiots. At this point i think all Madison’s in books are stupid, all they can do is play dress up and call themselves badass while they do nothing but cause more problems. * Madison from EKC* yes imagine that annoying idiot but with pink hair, u ll get Madison Kate.

Now dont get me started about the stalker, three fucking books, three FUCKING BOOKS AND THIS IS WHAT I GET? I want refund. No take all my money and burn this book or do smtg that i forget i ever read this. Take it. I was so disappointed when i found out about the stalker, like i did not sign up for this. I signed up for something that ll blow my mind but all this book does it blow Madison’s mind as she fucks the guys. And whats with her suddenly being the heiress to worlds largest diamond thing or whatever the fuck it is? Now, i love dramatic books but this one was too much. Like what the fuck?. The guys on the other hand were boring af, especially Archer. He has so much potential but this book makes him look like a stupid guy with a girl who won an award for being an idiot. And then there is Bree, i liked this girl in the third book but i should have known that once Annoying always annoying. This girl sleeps with a married man gets preggo knowing he has a wife and says “she is not that type of girl” like yes, you are not cuz you are worse. You are a fucking disgrace. Ugh i always hated this girl, seriously MK wont die without a bff, cant Bree die? I swear i wont cry...but Not the point of saying now tho 🙄. The only good this about this book was Hades.

*spoilers, and I don't even care*

Are. You. Fucking. Kidding. Me. I am fucking livid. That was seriously un-fucking-cool. Four books of this infamous Hades talk and I finally get the the epilogue and that’s what the fuck happens?!

And then to say that it was to build interest for the series she’s going to write for Hades?! That it wasn’t a cliffhanger for A FUCKING SERIES THAT IS LITERALLY ENDING! I am fucking pissed. And not like omg-that’s-so-funny type of pissed. I’m like really pissed. LIKE HER FANS WOULDNT HAVE ALREADY WANTED TO READ IT JUST BECAUSE ITS HER WORK. Bullshit. I’m so fucking mad.

Yeah, story ended. Cool. HEA. Cool. But like I said before. There was actually too much smut. And I’m sad to say I’m actually glad this ones over. I’m over it. And that ending made me just over this whole story, period. I’m not even interested in Hades anymore. Like that’s how disinterested her “attempt at building more interest for Hades story” went.

Also, I hated that she wrote that she thought this was her best work to date. Uh. No. Not by a fucking long shot. Like tf. Did she forget she wrote Kit fucking Davenport?!

Rant over. Done. 😑😑

Ugh, what can I say. This was just disappointing. Specially because the last book got my hopes up that it could get better... but it didn't. It kinda got worse. Going to keep this short bc this series has taken sooo much of my time and I just want to move on and be over with it.

Ofc, I was right about the author not committing to the cliffhanger from the last book. Which I guess I was fine with. But let's face it this book was just sosososo boring and I had so many issues with it. That it was a struggle to finish it.

The Rh relationship the author tried to create wasn't good. Throughout this whole series we could see how much MK favored Steele over the other guys. Specially in this book. She actually created an emotional connection with him and gave Steele an actual depth to his character. The author just pushed the others to the side. Specially my poor Kody. She didnt even bother to give him a background story to him or any other characteristic other than the fun/joking one. He pretty much was a side character for all intents and purposes, that only came in when MK wanted to get fuck and the others were busy. I think that is what annoyed me the most of all about this book. How Steele was always front and center for everything and the author just didn't do a proper job with connecting us with the other characters.

I also didn't enjoy how we barely got any sex with the other books but Tate James decided to shove all the steam into this one. They literally fuck every chapter or every other chapter. It got real frustrating real quick. There was zero communication, except with Steele ofc. And I pretty much read a 460 page book of how MK's pussy didn't get sore from fucking her 3 guys all day, everyday, around the clock.

The only good thing I can think about at the moment about this book was that I was genuinely surprised to discover who the stalker was. However, the author couldn't even give us a story for that either. We didn't get how it occurs, how the obsession start, NOTHING, absolutely zero background story.

Am just so over this and am so happy I finally fuckin finished. I want to give a HUGE fucking thank you to Nanda for suffering through this with me. Even though her reviews are always wayyy nicer than mine. Our rants were amazing and they got me through these books. Bc I wouldn't have been able to do it without you, babe!!

K, enough ranting, bye!!

Why was this series so gosh damn addictive? Tate James is a new fave author of mine (even though her cliff hangers may be the death of me some day).

4 stars because while all the reveals weren’t to my liking and couldn’t be sown better, this was still a great conclusion to the series!

MY REVIEW FOR THE SERIES:

For my first reverse harem and crime series this was incredible.

The male characters are what makes the series so good. Archer, Kody and Steele will win your heart in a beat. Grumpy, Archer. Sunshine and Pup, Kody. Bad Boy, Steele but you will fall in love with them even tho they are severely flawed.

Madison Kate is a wild ride. She can become a badass but sometimes she is not really aware of her surroundings which made me empathic but at the same time you can get annoyed easily by her. Be patient, she will get better. This book really showed her best side. I love that she was open with her feelings in the end and made closure with her dark side.

In terms of plot, I have to say that it was a little big dragged out. This could easily be 3 book series but the second and third one focus more on the relationship (which if you like it you will enjoy) and they don't add too much of the plot. The second one specifically because truly nothing happen other than building suspense. Honestly, there is a miss attention to details which is key when you are making a series. Nonetheless, I truly was engrossed in the characters and story that the lack or the dragging of plot didn't mind me because the romance, for me, was really top tier.

My first reverse harem and it exceed my expectations. The first book wasn't that spicy at all because the first three books built an amazing angst with one of the heroes, Archer, that when Arch soften I was completely swoon but they kept having the same snarky banter that you love in a enemies to lover book. The other two heroes were more soft but they will have you completely swoon by the second book. It truly gets spicy in the third book but the most spicy scenes is in this last one which was TOP TIER. If you like spicy book, this series in the end will surprise you.

Overall, loved the series and would recommend. This book was the best one out of all of them and it had an amazing ending to MK story. Great set up for Hades series that I'm excited to dive in. Great writing by Tate James, would love to see more of her work.

2022 review: *sigh* if I could live in Shadow Grove, I would lol

2020 review: First off, Kate deserves way more than five stars, just so we’re clear! Secondly, as much as I hate seeing MK & her boys go, I have to say that this was an absolute perfect end to their story.

After that awful cliffhanger that had me chucking my kindle, Kate picks up where we left off in Fake. MK’s stalker ups their game in Kate, which I didn’t think was even possible, but what a twisted SOB! Tate had me on my toes the entire time trying to figure out who it was, and the reveal left me shook. So unexpected. After all the crap MK has been through, she FINALLY gets a happy ending. Home girl needed it after all that.

I love this series so much, and I really am sad to let these characters go. I just hope that we get to see them as background characters in Hades’s story. I’m super pumped!

***4,5 "Stay alert!!!" stars***

NOW AVAILABLE!

"I was in love with Steele... and with his two best friends.
When the fuck did my life get so complicated?"

And finally, after three motherf**ker cliffhangers, we reached the end. And what an ending was that!!! The last book had it all!!!
And of course, it ended with a motherf**k cliffy!!!! Say what??? Well, don't twist your panties over it, it was a sort of surprise for a new series by Tate James who are connecting one way with this one!!!
And of course, now I'm intrigued and I can not wait for the "7th circle".
Aren't you???
But, let's focus on MK and her boys, shall we???

"Fucking hell... these boys were the best addiction that I never wanted to quit."

The last two years Madison Kate's life had turned upside down...
She was just a regular girl, until she wasn't...
Now, she has several demons that are after her... A stalker, assassins, secrets, betrayals, despair, gunfires, a chase of time and of course a bloody war to survive...
Who's gonna win this war at the end???
Is there a chance for MK, Archer, Steele and Kody to win these games that someone is playing behind their backs???

"One thing was for sure, my killers were still out there. Even if my stalker had been mysteriously quiet these past few weeks, he wasn't my only problem. Not by a long shot."

To say that all this mess weren't addictive as hell, I will lie to you...
Yep, many things in here seems unreal, but I'm not gonna pretend that i didn't enjoyed this wild ride!
Everyone seems to be after MK and her guys are trying their best to help her and to protect her...
But don't fool yourself, Madison Kate is not some damsel in distress, she can hold her own very well and the last two years had hardened her and she is such a tough cookie to crack no matter what...

"Words couldn't even describe how thankful I was to have him. To have all three of them. I wasn't in it alone, that was a pretty special feeling.
It was a feeling I'd do anything, kill anyone to protect."

The boys are always around her and the bond between the four of them is getting stronger and stronger between them... They seem to have compromise in order to have what everyone really wants and it's working very smoothly for them...
For me, on the other hand, it keeps being frustrated as hell, even though their personal moments were making me hot and bothered!!!
Yep, it's not a secret that I'm favoring Archer here, even though I also love Kody and Steele...
And the truth is that it's a waste of time all this emotional frustration that I'm feeling since these four are really good between them. No???

"We were like four pieces of the most fucked up puzzle, clicking together in perfect harmony."

Well, if you are into reverse harem, then you should read this series...
It's not only about their personal lives, but in here there are happening crazy shits that will have you at the edge of your seat all the damn time...
It is a fast paced story full of unexpected turns and suspense and it's leading you in places that you were never imagining...
Madison Kate, Archer, Steele and Kodiak are unique characters full of spirit and unbelievable strength and it's impossible to not fall in love with them...
If what you're reading in my review intrigues you, so please be my guest and dive in MK's crazy world!!!

"I was looking at you and thinking how you might be one of the strongest women I've ever laid eyes on. But I also worry that I've broken something in you."
"If you have, then I don't want it mended."

P.S. Is it just me that I'm craving Cass's story???
Maybe with Seph???
Or am I missing something???

"This is me, now. The real me. And they're just the other parts to my whole piece."

I have loved this wild and intense ride from start to finish! Seriously one of my favorites. Sad to see it end since I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know everyone... Mk, her swoon worthy men and Bree/Dallas.
Wow, just wow!

So excited for the upcoming Hades series that will feature some familiar faces!

This is the conclusion to the whole series and it was amped completely packed full of danger passion love and lots of emotion. We finally get our questions answered and MK gets her HEA with her boys. Yes, I did have to suspend my disbelief slightly at times but I still enjoyed this a lot. It’s been quite a ride to get to where we are at now. My only criticisms are that the identity of the stalker was a bit underwhelming and I at first couldn’t even place the character so had to do a book search. Also, there was a lot of sex in this one which don’t get me wrong it was as hot as all hell with plenty of chemistry but I’d have preferred slightly less and more actual sleuthing.

Overall though this series has been amazing and has had me completely gripped from start to finish. I definitely recommend reading this is reverse harem how it’s meant to be done. What a journey it’s been.

Excuse me. exCUSE ME?? MS. TATE JAMES, I DEMAND ANSWERS. THIS IS THE LAST BOOK IN THE SERIES. ALL THOSE DAMN LOOSE ENDS SHOULD BE TIED UP. CLIFFHANGERS SHOULDN’T EXIST. AND I DON’T CARE IF YOUR DAMN AUTHOR’S NOTE SAYS THAT WASN’T A CLIFFHANGER, CAUSE IT DAMN WELL WAS.
WHO. THE FORK. IS HADES?

Ok, now onto the actual book. Simply put: I loved it! This was a brilliant conclusion to the series and I was aptly satisfied by the big reveal (disgusting though the reveal was). My one complaint is the lack of Bree in this book…. though that’s forgiven, given she was in the hospital for 99% of the book.
I loved the boys! They were sweet and attentive in addition to being their usual irritatingly sexy selves, and I’m really glad that *minor spoiler* MK got therapy at the end of the book, because she definitely needed it. I’m glad Tate James didn’t give us any of that ‘their love cured her PTSD bullcrap’!
Now I just need to know who Hades is….

Thank you to the wonderful Catrin who willingly discusses RH with me! I promise I’ll read Havoc eventually ;).

THIS SERIES. Nothing compares- because there are few writers as versatile as Tate James. Writers who can create such tenderness and intensity, who can so seamlessly blend action and emotion, who can merge sincerity and humor with gritty darkness in a way that creates a a style and point of view so unique and expressive. In Tate we trust- she always delivers, but dear readers, I was nervous. I have loved this series so hard- and my expectations for this finale were impossibly high. Nervously I dug in to discover that KATE more than lived up to my expectations. At its conclusion it took me a few days to wrap my brain around what to say, but I knew this- my words will be insufficient, will not appropriately capture the creative genius of Tate James and this series, will not capture my heart, but try I will. Because I love this series with every fiber of my being.

The queen of agonizing cliffhangers left us, and her characters, battered and broken in yet another epic twist at the conclusion of Fake. MK had finally, for the most part, exposed the truth in her men, in her life, and most importantly, in herself. But just because some of her former enemies are now her lovers doesn’t mean Kate is safe- her most dangerous foes are still at large, and Fake ended with that brutal reminder ,leaving us devastated and raw.

I won’t be able to say much about the plot in KATE other than our story picks up from there (after a surprising first chapter, that is). In fact, even using proper nouns or talking about specific characters would be a spoiler. And, that is not how this story is meant to be experienced. Ant that is what KATE really is- an experience. This isn’t a book you read, it is a book you breathe, that you live. And the experience is dynamic, captivating, heart stopping. Tate is truly a mastermind. KATE is a tour de force of story-telling- a brilliant and seamless marriage of romantic suspense and captivating character journeys. Because Tate really is weaving together two concurrent threads in KATE- one the quest for Kate’s physical safety and the other the solidification of her emotional safety. Both are crucial to this overarching story, to who Kate is, and both cleverly acting as foils to one another, enriching the narrative in their contrast so we FEEL both even more. I stand in awe of your mind, Tate.

In on thread- we have the suspense, the mystery, the action- and in KATE, Tate really ups the ante. Kate’s foes and stalker are more desperate now, more aggressive in their pursuit of her, which makes them far more dangerous and unpredictable, and also means the threats and games have stakes like we’ve never seen yet in this series. The twists are faster, more intense, and have an even more devastating impact, and the list of potential suspects keeps growing longer and longer. But with desperation, enemies make mistakes- and our scooby gang has a plan, resulting in a big looming event that we know will be climatic (in more ways than one) that becomes the focal point of the progression of our plot. But then, we have to wait it out- which builds the anxiety, really ratchets up the suspense, and creates a doomsday-like tone of ominous foreboding for the denouement we know is coming. The plot is like a ticking clock- with each passing beat making us more frantic.

But each passing click of the clock also serves to sew our other thread-the formation of Kate’s new family. This is the time for the harem to solidfy, becoming one unit instead of different pieces. And this has a tone entirely contrasting with the action- a sweetness, an intimacy and quietness...and, of course, bucket loads of sexiness. Like all Tate’s stories, the relationships are the showstopper- which says a lot because woman can write a plot like no other. But what has made us so riveted, so addicted to this series is our amazing heroine and the relationship she has with her men. Tate has been carefully meting out the emotional connections between these characters since book one- masterfully stitching these characters’ hearts together thread by thread. The Madison Kate series is truly reverse harem construction at its finest- because Tate has let this harem build and evolve naturally, authentically, and strategically- stabilizing the foundation, addressing the cracks, connecting the corners- you can’t have a steady, emotively rich and believable four walls without that. KATE is the payoff or that relational architecture. Our prior books have been about the one-on-one journeys- that shift from enemies to lovers, exposing the lies, confronting bitterness and past pains, and finding the couple cadence for each pair- creating an unbreakable connection between each of MK and her men. THE FOUNDATION. No one couple took the same journey, no one couple has the same dynamic, and each has a love that is specific, unique to their personality, and complex. But until KATE, that is just what this group was- Kate as part of co-existing couples, and these brothers with their own separate connection. But KATE gently and intimately shifts gears here- transforming those connections into one entity- the harem. Bringing Kate truly into the fold as part of the family these men have, and thus, reinventing that family all together. Improving it. And wow- what captivating character chemistry, what a complex dynamic. The best of the series yet. Because we get to see them at ease, comfortable with each other, and confident in each other. Kate has finally found emotional safety. No secrets, full transparency, open hearts. They create a family unit full of warmth, love, genuine respect- a TRUE partnership that is natural, tender, soothing even. But also one that is real to them- still a little messy, still intense. There is truly no harem like this in literature. The juxtaposition to the looming anxiety of our other thread only makes these tender, intimate moments more magical, makes them more important, because ultimately, our harem has to be a full cemented unit in order to finish this deadly game, in order to answer the final questions. And they need time- together, and one-on-one, to find their footing now that they are all in.

But these threads are not the center- they are in service of our true story, of our center- of Kate. Harem, stalkers, action, deranged dolls, cake, and snapping turtles aside, the whole purpose of this series is HER journey. Her evolution-the contrast of old MK to the present MK. The shucking of the pains and burdens and powerlessness of “Madison Kate” and the rebirth of a self-aware, self-assured, and self-possessed “Kate.” A Kate who is no longer controlled by the machinations of evil as well as well-meaning men. A Kate who is also no longer at the mercy of her own anger and recklessness, no longer at the mercy of lies and secrets. For too long this powerful, bold, and clever girl has had her destiny controlled by others. This final chapter is about Kate reclaiming her full power, about her becoming the architect of her own path. About her OWNING who she is and what she wants. And that journey has most certainly not been easy. She’s had her back up against the wall her entire life- on the defensive-and when she hasn’t she’s been running - from people, from feelings, from her own self. KATE is about her slowly shucking off the version of herself she’s had to be in order to survive, in order to defend herself in body and mind, to make space for the Kate she really is. The unfiltered, truest version of Kate. We see her strength, but the best part is we see her vulnerability. Because to do this she has to confront herself- past and present. And to do this she has to face her greatest fear- not her stalker, not her father, not her killers- no, her greatest fear is loving someone, in trusting in others. Her ultimate act of growth, the culmination of her journey, is in doing that, in letting that be the catalyst to her other victories. At long last, we get to meet Kate. And she is a wonder.

This series will forever be an all time favorite. There is nothing out there like this- Tate has created a niche and voice all of her own. And I am addicted- I just can’t get enough of these characters- I’m not ready to leave them behind. Kate takes control of the game at long last, but of course, clever, naughty Tate just couldn’t resist. One door closes, but another opens. And we have a whole new set of questions to answer- jaw dropping ones. We should have known better- only Tate could figure out how to artfully create a whole new artistic device- the “HEA cliffhanger.” But I can’t complain, because the conclusion of this story is perfect in every way- everything I’ve wanted from this series, and everything I didn't even know I needed. Tate has truly created a whole new standard, and a new level of writing that I can’t wait to see her keep topping. BRAVA Tate, not because we love this story, although I do, but brava because you gave Kate the story she deserved.

UGH this series. Where to begin. I loved the dark and thrilling elements of this series. It kept me entertained throughout all 4 books. I don’t normally read series because I get bored and never finish them but OMG, I read this whole series in a week.
I am so happy that they are not in high school. I also loved the reverse harem aspect and how the author wrote it. I have yet to find a RH that is truly RH where they all share and are in a relationship. Normally, she flits around from guy to guy until the Alpha one claims here and is too jealous to share. No thanks. I loved the mystery in every book and the story line. It kept me interested and needing more. The sex scenes were so hot and steamy and omfg… so so good. I would reread this series for that alone. The author also did a great job of making me laugh. Nothing makes me happier than a book that makes me LOL and this author did that more than once. I loved every character in the book. Finally a heroine that isn’t annoying af. All three guys were perfect in their own way and brought unique personalities to the series. All different but flowing together perfectly.
I listened to the first three on audio and I have to commend the author for how well done they are. Most romance novels are horrible on audio for various reasons, but I didn’t feel any of that with this audio series. The voices all actually matched how I felt the characters would actually sound. So often now a days, the women narrator sounds like she is 45 YO trying to narrate a 19 YO character and it’s painful to listen too. I loved how every time the guys talked, it would be a male narrating it. Women trying to narrate tough men… not for me. I appreciate the authors attention to detail in this regard.
Overall, I would give this series a 4 star. If you like RH, gang boys, thrilling and suspenseful, and hot ass sex scenes then this series is for you
