JL has been talking since she was about seven months old. To those who know her it comes as no surprise, in fact, most will tell you she hasn’t shut up since. At eighteen months, she was speaking in full sentences. Imagine if you will the surprise of her admirers when they complimented her mother on “what a cute little boy” she had and received a fierce glare from said little boy and a very loud correction of “I’m a girl!” Oddly enough, JL still finds herself saying that exact phrase thirty-some-odd years later.

Along with the motormouth, JL also displayed a very vivid imagination and artistic ability. The artist first surfaced in way of drawing and painting, then became more apparent with dance. JL was a member of the National Art Honor Society in high school and has won several regional and national titles in dance, specifically tap and jazz. In college she majored in Graphic Art, but chose to make dance her profession. She taught tap, jazz and ballet for fifteen years before settling into her career as a writer.

Today JL is a full-time writer, with over ten novels to her credit. Among her hobbies she includes reading, practicing her marksmanship (she happens to be a great shot), gardening, working out (although she despises cardio), searching for the perfect chocolate dessert (so far as she can tell ALL chocolate is perfect, but it requires more research) and arguing with her husband over who the air compressor and nail gun really belongs to (they belong to JL, although she might be willing to trade him for his new chainsaw).

She also writes under the name Jeigh Lynn

I was pleasantly surprised how much I really liked Remy. In my opinion he was a very complex character. I admit, I didn't like him at all in Without Reservation. He was a jerk almost all through the book (but a handsome one of course...lol) and I hated the way he treated Keaton. Luckily, we find out why Remi acts the way he did, and soon he became a character that was not only likeable, but someone who captured my heart. The D/s relationship between he and Jake surprised me, too.
But I have to say as much as I loved Remi, Sterling and Rhys stole the novel. I can't wait to read their story. Sterling is going to be such a handful!
Thanks again for the recommendations my friends!

With Caution is the third installment in J. L. Langley’s With or Without series. Remington Lassiter, who was introduced in Without Reservations, is adjusting to his life as a werewolf and coming to terms with his attraction to Jake.

Remi has endured severe abuse as a child at the hands of his father. Even though Remi is now living on his own, his life is still very much controlled by his father. When he discovers bruises on his younger brother, Sterling, Remi enlists Jake’s help in finding a way to protect him. During Jake’s investigation of Remi’s father, he discovers some very unsettling truths about Remi’s childhood.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. It was well executed and there was a lot of suspense and mystery that made it difficult for me to stop reading. A strong cast of supporting characters rounded out the story nicely. Its weakness for me was the relationship between Jake and Remi. They were very hot and sexy, like Chay and Keaton in Without Reservations and Lainey and Devlin in With Love, but there was no heat, no passion. Remi’s sweet and submissive behavior got tiring very quickly and the love scenes were lacking in emotion and intensity.

Overall, a good read but not the best in the series.

I loved this book. Remi definately goes through alot of change and character development. He is not the same person we met in Without Reservation, but we learn what makes him tick, and act the way he does.
He and Jake are definately made for one another. I thought that the way they worked together as a team and even started their own pack, was great.
Of course the sex is super hot too!
From what I understand Matt's story will be next, but personally I can't wait to read about Sterling (Remi's brother)
I love this series and anxiously wait for the next one!

^^NO CAUTION NEEDED!^^

I love this series, its super sexy, nose bleed sweet and just downright sinful. I love these wolves who find their mates in the same sex, nothing says hot like two men falling in love. Where the second book in the series was pretty much fluff, this one had a darker tone and a tough as nails alpha. I wanna eat him up like some doggie chow. I am excited and waiting impatiently for the next chapter in this deeply addictive series.

THE RUNDOWN- We met Remi in Without Reservations and he was a big douche, a homophobic Ahole so of course you are excited to see him end up with a guy, talk about irony for ya. Well Remi was attacked and almost killed and he had to be turned into a wolf. Lets say this came as a shock and now he is learning to control his wolfy feelings. His wolfy feelings is giving him all kinds of activity in his pants when it comes to dark and handsome Jake, but he can’t be gay, never having feelings for a man before its kind of freaking him out. Well things aren’t as they seem, Remi has a past he can’t remember and a father who just might end up killing him. Its his love for Jake that will unlock secrets and make his face his fears.

Remi- Is such a sweet character but he hides behind this tough as nails façade. He lives to protect the one person dearest to his and that’s his brother Sterling, to protect someone from the person who should love you most can be tiring. Remi has to come to terms with having feelings for Jake because he has been taught all his life that liking men is bad, but he can’t help wanting to sink his teeth into Jake a man he is becoming to trust with his life and one who stolen his heart.

Jake- He knows Remi is his mate but he doesn’t want to scare him by unleashing all his passion, plus he is sure that Remi is not gay. Well he has his doubts because when he touches him Remi all but melts in his arms. The relationship is proving difficult when an unwelcome part keeps causing problems for them. When Jake is hired by Remi to bring someone down, the truths leads to a shocking revelation and proves why Remi is the way he is. Jake is all man and he is a bit of a Dom and it just works for him, plus he is the ultimate alpha male, all protective and sexy.

PLOT- Its basically a love story with some angst, Remi has some family issues that need ton be dealth with. There is also a bit of mystery, Remi has some unsettling memories and they come back to haunt him. Plus Remi finds out how he fits into the pack, when out of nowhere everyone wants him.

FEELINGS- Love this series so much, this book was super sweet and sexy. The sex was hot and I love Remi and Jake together. There is a Dom/sub type thing to their relarionship but it does not overshadow all that is sexy about this book. Can I say how much I love Remi, he annoyed me when we met him in the previous book, but you come to understand why and you can’t blame him. Jake is perfect for him, and they are perfect together. Plus we get a sneak peek of Sterling and Rhys and I am feckin excited for their book. I love this series.

Someone will die!!!!!

eeeee.... Nope, it's not that obvious...

And to be exact two, not one, characters will die!!!! And leaving the teasing aside let's get to the point! I LOVED THIS BOOK!

And to explain each main character in a more fun way let me use illustrations... I loooooooove emoticon!

Jake ---->
Poor guy... well you will see him in the second book (Keaton's bodyguard)... he is preoccupy, because Remi is his mate and seems an homophobic. Well, read it and you will see... I just warn that he is a hell of a Dom! YEY! I love when someone show how strong he is (do not think something like hitting everyone, but only a good Dom/Sub relationship). Love him, and is perfect as a main character.

Remi ---->
The calm one... he, regardless all the shit in his life, is so damn calm! OMG how could him! With an abusive father and such crazy brother (Sterling)! AND OMG soooo submissive!!! Perfect to someone like Jake! I love him... that's it... leave him alone, HE IS MIIIIINNEEEE (Remi is my favorite character!)

Sterling ---->
Too much active. Imagine a little Chihuahua after 200 coffee cups... well, Sterling is worst... much more hyperactive. He is Remi little brother but to Remi he is almost his son. With an absent mother, and an abusive father Sterling is so happy! Impressive!!! Is really impressive and I ADORE him! Can't wait to read his book (Without Fear)! He will be the main character! YEY!

Rhys ----->
Ohhhhh a bad ass!!!! HE IS Soooooo cooool!!! This new character of the serie get my attention after his first description! Soooo cool!!! And dangerous!

Dirk ---->
He worst possible villain you can imagine! You will hate him so much! And that's perfect! It's just the sign of how great this book is! A book need romance, but must be also some angst and drama... this book have everything, in the right dose! If the second I didn't give more than 3 stars (too much sex, in little plot in my view) this book NO!

This story deserve 5 stars and now I can't wait to read more!

I did try to suspend all disbelief, as I already know this writer. (And if you have read from writers like Josh Lanyon or Joely Skye you'll realize Langley's style leaves much to be desired.) Either way, I needed some light reading and I decided to give this series one more chance. I really shouldn't have.

Let's put aside the fact that omega wolves (usually only existing in wolf packs living in captivity) are the runts and rejects of the pack. They are treated badly, and they usually die early from abuse - not remotely as described in this book. I really shouldn't be surprised that the writer bent (were)wolf lore so out of shape it looks like Celtic knot-work.

What finally made me put down the book was the whole "claiming ceremony", that consisted of Jake doing Remi right in front of the wolf pack, who watched on without batting an eyelash. It wasn't hot. It was downright creepy ...and gross.

In light of this the fact that Langley has stuffed her book with a dozen new characters without fleshing them out is dwarfed. But yes, there are a handful of new characters without personality or any real distinguishing features just so

I see many positive reviews, but if you ask me, I do not recommend this book at all. If you want to read good werewolf stories, look up Joely Skye's books. If the style is not that much of a requirement, Amber Kell's Supernatural Shifters and Moon Pack series is pretty decent too.

Diverting read. Enjoyed all the characters, certainly the strong suit of the story. Found Remi's amazing abilities (sexual not were) somewhat unrealistic and the constant use of purring during moments of desire really was a major disconnect for a werewolf book.

A friend said that this book was "darker" than the previous two. I tend to agree with her. With Remi's abusive father looming over his behavior (and forces him to push his own sexuality into the closet, especially with a tragedy in his youth), this presents a more serious problem than simply just "soul-mate" among werewolves. I like how Jake takes his time to let Remi gets used to being a werewolf and not pushing the mate issue to him.

If I have a complaint, it will be that I feel the "acceptance" of Remi as gay is a bit lacking. He comes as homophobic in the previous book. Then, I find out that his past is complicated with what happens to his first boy lover. However, his accepting that Jake is his mate and that he is always been gay is a bit pushed into the background of other issues (including Remi being an omega and the D/s nature of his relationship with Jake). I would love to see it more explored. But then again, maybe accepting his sexuality is easier when Remi is turned into a werewolf *shruggs*

I have to say that the scene stealer is Remi's brother, Sterling, though. That motormouth just shines in every scenes he is in. I cannot wait to see him reaching a legal age and drives Rhys crazy.

Oh J.L. Langley is on a serious roll with this series! I adored this second book and, in fact, it's my favorite of them so far. The writing was just as good. The plot, the dialogue, etc. were all fantastic. I think I fell more for this book because of the two main characters.

I'll admit I didn't like Remi a whole lot when he was first introduced in the prior book. He came across as a homophobic, arrogant little snot! He was verbally cruel to Keaton and I didn't care for him. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt mainly because I figured if Chay was his best friend and had been for all those years then there must be redeeming qualities to him. I'm so glad I was right! I fell in love with Remi. All the abuse and fear he's lived with his entire life broke my heart. I could understand the walls he puts up to protect himself and, more importantly, from letting anyone ever know in order to protect his little brother, Sterling. (On a side note I am crazy about Sterling and can't wait to read his story). Remi is vulnerable but definitely NOT weak.

Another well written shifter story. Some of these so called new authors would do well to read and learn. These are how wolf shifters should be written. Not as an excuse to write stupid sex scenes with no plot under the guise of shifter fics.

Seconding reading as enjoyable as the first. I'd forgotten just enough to keep it interesting.

If I have any niggles it would be

Also I'd really like to see a little more continuity in the way wolves heal. But this series is still far superior than most.

I enjoyed J.L. Langley's Sci-regency series but this is the first shifter book I've read by this author. It's a pretty meaty story with a tense family subplot that I particularly enjoyed. There's an abusive father in this story, and it added quite a lot of drama/angst and had me rooting for his comeuppance. Which, thankfully, was dire. The romantic/erotic elements were very well done. Now I have to read Sterling's story!

ETA: I guess Sterling's story has not been published but there are some freebie shorts with him that I'll check out.

I wasn't sure about reading this one, because of all the mixed reviews, but I have to say...I enjoyed reading it. I skipped book 1 because this book seemed more interesting to me. That means I did miss some of the story (about how and why Remi was turned into a werewolf). I also missed the part about him being an ass in book 1. I didn't mind all this and had no trouble following the storyline. I had no prejudice toward Remi, to me he was an awesome man and brother.

This is a shifter book, but there is not a whole lot of schifting going on...now that I was a bit dissapointed about. They only shift when it's a full mooi. Doesn't mean they cant at other times, they just don't. Their eyes and theeth do shift when they are angry or horny......and they are horny a lot ;)

A lot of people shelved this book as bdsm, but there is no real bdsm in this book, just some dominance kink and even that is mild.

Now what is it about......

Remi and Jake first met in the first book were Jake turns Remi into a werewolf, because Remi is dying and Jake, who discovered that Remi is his mate, doesn't want him to die.
Now Remi was kind of an homophobic asshole in the first book...in this book we get to see why and it was really very sad.

Remi doesn't understand his attracttion to Jake at first, because he's not gay (yeah right), he tries to fight it, but his feelings are to strong. Jake explaines to him about being mates and Remi excepts this fact fairly easily. That's the start of their relationship.

But things are not easy. Remi's dad is an EXTREME asshole and Remi really wants to protest his brother Sterling who is 15 and still has to live with his mom and dad. Sterling was an amazing kid...he was funny and sweet..I loved him and can't wait for his book !!

The steamfactor of this one is pretty high...not to high for me though ;)..like I said there is some mild dom/sub thing going on. The plot was a bit farfetched, but I didn't mind.

3,5 - 4 stars from me and I would love to read Sterlings book but I've read people have been waiting for 5 years already, so I won't hold my breath.

Oh, I love me some shifters. Great second installment of this series.

In this second book we have Remi, who was turned at the end of book 1, coming to terms with being a werewolf. Fortunately he has Jake to figure out how all of it works.
Jake recognized his mate the moment he set eyes on Remi. But Remi is straight.. right? Jake does not want to pressure Remi into anything, so he decides to just be friends at first. With Jake’s help Remi is learning how to control his lupine side so no one notices anything is different about him.
description

Remi has his hands full with his growing attraction to Jake and trying to protect his little brother, Sterling, from their abusive father. As Remi and Jake start getting closer, Remi’s father is also becoming more and more unstable…

I have read that this book contains some BDSM, and I can understand why but it was soooooo light you had to go looking for it with a magnifying glass.. I would not call this book a BDSM book.
But it was a delicious shifter read. I loved how Jake was so protective of Remi. I am always a big fan of the incredible pull the shifter mates feel towards each other. They simply cannot resist it. And this one did not disappoint.

I had a hard time getting through this one, which is a surprise since I loved Without Reservations. Remi didn't seem like the Remi from that book. It was too drastic a flip.

I didn't like the sub/dom aspect of his relationship with Jake even though it was fairly mild. It just didn't ring true, especially how Remi slipped so easily into calling him "sir." I also felt like I jumped into the middle of Remi and Jake's story, even though I had read the previous book.

Sterling was the best part of the book. He was so adorable, and I do look forward to reading his story.

It turns out my library actually has a small selection of paperback M/M titles and this was one of them and I thought, oh, isn't this author one of the ones the M/M group raves about? So I decided to read it, despite it being the 3rd of a series (actually, it wasn't that hard to get what was going on, since each book seems to focus on a different couple) and well, it was just ok. I think the problem is that if you put aside the sex scenes (of which there were a lot, and were really boring, repetitive... I basically skipped all of them), the plot was not all that interesting.

The conflict between the main characters was resolved a little too easily, especially when one of the two was apparently very homophobic in the previous book. I also don't get why he's immediately so submissive to the other one (especially since he was abused before). The author explains this as a werewolf thing, but her werewolf mythology isn't really developed well and she seems to use it to her convenience in order to explain stuff that she can't find other explanations for. I also get the sense that she probably hasn't researched that much about actual wolves.

I ended up trying to read the previous two in the series, and found them rather cringe-inducing. I don't think this series is for me.

On a positive note, though, I did like how the two brothers cared so much about each other and looked out for each other. It was very sweet and their relationship was a lot more fun and interesting than the actual couple!

This was far better than “Without Reservations”. The plot was a bit far fetched but who cares!!!

I liked Remi very much. He wasn’t such a nice character in the first book but he made up for it. Especially after understanding why he was behaving so homophobic….

I loved Jake, again a real alpha-man. He was sweet and also very protective. I love that.

description

The first book ended with Remi been turned into a werewolf by Chay and Jake. Jake immediately regonizes his mate. But Remi is straight, so he thinks... Jake wants to take it easy with Remi to not let him know too quick they are mates of each other. Jakes helps Remi getting used to his wolfside and how to control it.

description

I understand the next book is about Matt, a packmember and Keaton’s brother… That should be interesting. But I really want the story of Rhys and Sterling though Sterling first has some growing up to do because he’s just 15 jears old! I loved Sterling, Remi’s brother!! He’s going to be quite a handful!!

It will be interesting to read about this new wolf pack of Jake and Remi as the Omega!!

Re-Read

I did enjoy this book

I love Remi. He is one of those characters that is obnoxious in the first one and you wonder how the author is going to redeem them in their book. In this one Remi did seem a bit of a different character. Gone was the obnoxiousness. I understood where that came from and his need for the defence.

I forgot that this one had BDSM in it, and it came kind of from left field to me. It didn’t worry me, but I also didn’t think it was really needed, Jake could have been the alpha and Remi the omega submitting to him without that element. I also though that Remi, considering his dad’s prejudice and abuse took to his relationship with Jake too easily. He had been conditioned since childhood to not go against his father, and spent so much time protecting Sterling, that I really expected him to want to hide his relationship more especially the PDA’s in the open.

I enjoyed Jake. I liked him in the previous book too. I enjoyed the patience and control he showed helping Remi get used to being a wolf without telling him he was his mate. I also liked how the packs formed without much grief and arguments.

I love Sterling so much and badly want his and Rhys’ book.

On to Matt’s book

This was a great installment in this series by J.L. Langley! I really really enjoyed it.

Remi is seriously injured at the end of the last book "Without Reservations" and he is changed into a shifter in order to survive. The man that saves him, Jake, knows right away that he is Remi's mate, but wants Remi to get used to the idea of being a wolf before he finds out he's mated to a man!

Jake is very dominant and protective, and before long, they are unable to deny their attraction to one another. Remi's father is an abusive, horrible. evil man, and Remi is terrified that his father will find out about he and Jake and take his anger out on Remi's younger brother Sterling. Remi protects Sterling at all costs and doesn't want him to have to go through what Remi went through growing up.

Jake and Remi have to protect Sterling, gather information on Remi's evil father Dirk so that he can be put in jail, AND try to have a new relationship.

So much is going on in this book that I had to keep reading until I was finished. I really really enjoyed it and I hope Sterling's story comes out soon!

LOVED IT! This book was a bit darker then the previous one. It deals w/ abuse. After reading the book before this one, I was thinking that Remi was a homophobic ASS. Damn..............couldn't have been more WRONG. There were a lot of things in this book that I didn't expect and was pleasantly surprised at.

I LOVED the relationship that Remi has w/ Sterling. It was very touching and it gave the book more feeling and "realness" The relationships among the pack members is so wonderful. It's a real family. The closeness, loyalty, love, respect and honor they all have towards each other only adds more to the books.

The sex was AWESOME.......a little touch of domination but not much.

This book set up the story between Rhys and Sterling nicely and I CAN'T WAIT for that one!

I LOVED the short stories J.L. Langley has on her site as well. They are a MUST read.

This series is definitly a keeper in my library..........

For me this is that rare book wherein it is part of a series that is getting better not worse. I really enjoyed Remi and Jake and the evolution of this story. I liked seeing the other characters and being introduced to some new ones. This one had touching, sad, and funny moments. All in all a great story - I have to be honest and say I'm not looking forward to the next one as I'm not really interested in the character. I want more of Sterling and Rhys!

I really started out loving this book from the very beginning. I enjoyed Remi's discovery of himself and his acceptance of Jake. And Sterling I absolutely adorable! I liked how this book includes more pack politics and the dynamics between the members. It felt more paranormal than the last book, too.

This one wasn't near as funny as the earlier books and also has more drama r/t Remi's family. But still has few LOL moments.

Oh, and it ends with a "Holy Shit" shocker!!

I wanted to love this book so much more than I did. The parts that were good were really good, and the stuff that was bad was really bad. For me, it was an average book.

We first meet Jake and Remi in the last book. Remi is mortally injured when Jake finds him, recognizing him immediately as his mate, Jake turns Remi into a werewolf to save his life. Now Remi has to adjust to not only the knowledge that werewolves exist, but that he is one, so Jake decides to wait to tell him he is also Jake's mate, especially since Remi is not gay and seemed to be slightly homophobic. That all happened in the last book. In this book Remi is confused by his continued attraction to Jake, especially since he believes that Jake is straight. Remi also is dealing with the constant threat of his father. His father wants Remi to toe the line or else he will take it out on Remi's little brother. He also discovers he has a special place in the werewolf world and him being Jake's mate, puts Jake in a special situation as well. Meanwhile they are trying find something that will get his father out of all their lives before he really hurts someone.

Whew! Right? There is a lot of stuff. I think just in general the way the story unfolded was awkward. Remi comes to terms with everything very quickly once it is revealed. And Jake almost doesn't react at all, except in fear for Remi. There is a big reveal about Remi's past that sort of gets glossed over. And the sex while hot, tends to fall in awkward places and interrupt the pace of the book. So much so that when they start having it, I started to groan because I was so into the story. There was also the introduction of a new character towards the end that felt awkward, like he was being introduced so he could have a book someday. There is another relationship that is set up, and it seems weird because it reads so similar to Remi and Jake's story.

All in all, I think this book suffered from it's placement in my reading list as well. I just came off some great books and this one just didn't quite measure up. So overall I'd say good, but not great. I'll still keep reading though.

This is my favorite book of the series so far. We met Jake and Remi in Without Reservations (Book #2). In WR, Remi, Chay's best friend, has a blowout with Chay when he finds out that Chay's mate, Keaton, is a man. Remi is confused because he knows Chay is straight, but he doesn't know that Chay is a werewolf and the mating bond is so strong. Chay and Remi reconcile at the end of Without Reservations and Remi is mortally wounded. In order to save him, Jake, another friend of Chay's turns him into a werewolf. At the time, we also learned that Jake and Remi are mates, but Jake, Chay, and Keaton decide to keep it on the QT from Remi because he is dealing with enough as a newly turned werewolf, and also seems homophobic.

In With Caution, we meet Remi's younger brother, Sterling. Remi and Sterling grew up in an abusive home and Remi protects his brother as much as he can. In this book, it's like Remi is a totally different person than the Remi we met in WR. It turns out that Remi's cocky indifference was a persona he shows the outside world as a defensive mechanism. When he is with Sterling, and when he is with Jake, a kinder, softer, caring Remi comes out. I really liked Remi in this book. The homophobia he exhibited in WR turns out to not be a dislike of gays, but rather a strong fear of his father. His father was the one who threatened him if he stayed friends with Chay and Keaton. Remi is not only scared of his father, but he is also scared for his brother and his mother who still live with the abuse.

Some people said in their reviews that it's weird how quickly Remi accepts having a male mate, especially after exhibiting such homophobia in WR. But I disagree - I think that as the story develops, it becomes clear why Remi's feelings for Jake are so natural.

I liked all the characters in this book as well as all the new pack members that we meet. Jake is a really cool guy and is the quintessential alpha male. I also like that Remi is strong and so protective of his brother.

I enjoyed this book and hope that Ms. Langley writes a book about Sterling soon.

★★½.
While I enjoyed this book, the Remi in this book was not the jackass Remi in book 1. This submissive, easily accepting Jake, crying about his family wasn't the guy I remembered in book 1.

In book 1, Jake had to turn Remi to keep the bullet wound from killing Remi. Jake also knew Remi was his mate. Because Remi was this angry homophobic BF of Chay's, the crew (Chay, Keaton & Jake) decided NOT to tell Remi about his bond to Jake. They felt straight Remi and his homophobic ways would have his plate full already trying to process his new life as a werewolf.

In this book, there was no slurs at all by Remi. In fact, this guy was nice, likable and I even felt quite sorry for him as he was a savior for his family. Of course Jake tried to slowly build rapport with Remi and easy him both into his life as friends while allowing Remi to adjust as a new werewolf. Then the attraction started taking over the both of them. It was kind of smooth like butter--thus quite unbelieveable! I would like to think people retain their personalities after they are turned but that didn't happen here. Also, the attempt at creating a dom-sub relationship here was weak.

The saving grace of this story was Remi's backstory with his dad, mom and little brother Sterling. I suspect Sterling's book will be much better than this one.

I was kind of leery about reading this one. I was NOT a fan of Remi in Without Reservations. I thought he was a prick. How in the world was he going to deal with Jake.

Then, it happened. Oh boy. I fell in love with Jake and Remi! I loved how patient Jake was. He was letting Remi learn how to be a wolf before he threw the word "mate" at him.

Remi was so confused all the time at why he was always calmer around Jake and why he was always hard around him. HA! I loved their friendship and how Jake included Sterling.

Oh, Sterling, how I love thee. Remi was SO protective of Sterling and it was amazing to see that bond. About what they would do for each other to keep each other safe.

I would have liked to have seen more of the Alpha/Omega thing more--like what "powers" they would have/give each other that John Carter was talking about. I did NOT like the public claiming though. Why did it have to be public? Kind of weird.

So as much as I loved Remi and Jake, I think Sterling and Rhys really captured my attention. I want that story...NOW! Those two shorts have me wanting more. Also,

Looking forward to the next book...Keaton's brother?!

"With Caution" by J.L. Langley is a male/male love story with all the emotion and caring any romance lover enjoys and the added bonus of uber-hot monogamous sex.

Remi has a gut-wrenching past. The only light in his life is his younger brother Sterling and Remi has had to cut deal after deal with his abusive father to keep Sterling safe, but that's just what Remi does. So what can newly made werewolf Remi do when he discovers his mate...is a man. If his homophobic father finds out, well...there's no telling what he'd do.

Jake has known Remi was his mate from their first encounter. Now that he's finally gotten closer to Remi, he has no intention of backing away. But with Remi's current problems and abused past, how can Jake expect Remi to be comfortable as his sub?

There's so much more going on in this story than is possible to provide in brief blurbs. J.L. Langley has written a story that overflows with love and caring and the compromises that are required in building a lasting relationship. There's action, suspense, hot sex, humor, and a fabulous happily-ever-after that will have you searching out more stories by this author.

I enjoyed this only slightly less than Without Reservation. The Dom/Sub relationship isn't really my thing, but I think it was very light and handled well here, so it wasn't a turnoff for the entire book.

My biggest issue with this book is the number of gay characters. In the second of the series (where we first meet this pack) there is very little sense of Chay knowing any other gay guys. In here, Jake has at least two gay friends. It's not that many people compared to the number in the pack, so I guess it's fitting, I just felt surprised by the number, I suppose.

Oddly enough, I think I was more satisfied with the ending of this book than the previous one. It's not too happy an ending, but it's not sad either. Well balanced.

The brothers' relationship (nonsexual) is great. Sterling, the little brother, is adorable and chipper and everything a boy that age should be. Remi, who's a JERK the first time we saw him, has "grown up" by the time we get this book. Plus we find out more of why he acts the way he does, so we forgive him. Lovely interactions among characters.
