Review @ Vanilla & Spice Books

✮✮✮ 4.5 STARS ✮✮✮

Wyatt is preparing the show of a lifetime - a set of one-of-a-kind erotic photography. With is project he wants to step out of the huge shadow cast by his Hollywood family. All he misses is the centerpiece of his show, a model uniting innocence, sensuality and eroticism. It's 27 days before opening and he still hasn't found the perfect model. Until Kelsey Draper walks into his studio.

It was her. The girl who’d filled his mind. The girl who’d haunted his nights. The woman he needed if he was going to pull this exhibit off the way he wanted to.

Kelsey is on a deadline, too. She needs 15 grand to enroll her brother for trials in a new clinical protocol for fourth degree burn victims. Her well meaning best friend passed on the audition that was meant for Nia and told Kelsey to go. Never in her life did she expect coming face to face with the man who nearly destroyed her twelve years ago. The man who is now staring at her in anger.

He’s not a man, he’s a concept. A talisman. Fantasy mixed with memory and topped with a sprinkle of loss.

Wyatt knows it is a mistake to hire her for his show. The way things ended all those years ago left him with a broken heart. But he wants her, this quiet, shy girl who comes to life when she dances her heart out. He wants her fiercely but how can he trust her not to walk out on him again? So much is riding on this show. Will Kelsey see it through? Can he move past his anger and be professional?

Wyatt is an ambitious young man who wants to find his footing in an industry that is so fake that if you have a famous name attached to you, you are automatically royalty. That's why he sheds his famous last name and uses a stage name - he wants to be accepted for his work and not because he is related to his famous family.
From the beginning you get the sense that Wyatt is a really good person. Even when he wants to punish Kelsey for hurting him you feel his remorse when he is being a jerk. When they (mostly) move past their painful history Wyatt becomes this sexy, sweet guy you get glimpses of in the flashbacks. I got a teeny bit irritated with him towards the end because he gave up on her so fast, that his show seemed more important than her. Thankfully his grandmother set him right.

Kelsey is a shy woman and has always been that way. Her light starts to shine when she dances - all of a sudden she is a completely different person: vibrant, self confident and sensual. It is the heady combination that made Wyatt fall in love with her twelve years ago and he is still immensely attracted to her, albeit unwillingly.
Since tragedy struck her family twelve years ago she has been playing things safe. Her father extinguished any spontaneity she had when she was a teenager and it is the central theme in this book. As soon as things get a little bit risky, Kelsey runs but Wyatt challenges her to risk things and let the world see the wild underneath all the restraint.

“Listen to your brother. He seems like a smart guy. Go a little wild, Ms. Draper. Cut loose. Take a risk.”
“Is that what you are? A risk?”
“Risk, reward. I’m pretty sure the two are tied together.”

Not only did I love her for owning her sensuality, I adored her for being such an amazing sister and I really hope that Griffin gets his well deserved HEA.

The development of their relationship is fast - granted they have known each other for a long time but didn't meet again for twelve years. We get to see the sweet story of two teenagers who fall in love for the first time via flashbacks. Back then they knew each other well, and it's this fact I still puzzle over that Wyatt misjudged the girl he was in love with when he was a teenager, so I would have loved to see a little more depth to the resolution of their problems and them moving past them. But that's probably me craving a little more grovelling. When all is said and done I fell in love with these two characters, and hard.

“You’re staring,” she said, smiling.
“You’re beautiful.” Her smile widened.
“I think it’s the dress.”
“I know it’s the woman.”

The conclusion?

Enough angst to keep you invested in the story? ✔
Delicious sexual tension? ✔
A sweet second chance love story? ✔

Yup - this story ticks a lot of boxes I'm a sucker for. Right off the bat - this is my first J. Kenner book.

*ducks to dodge the eggs and tomatoes*

J. Kenner's writing is modern and flows effortlessly. The dialogues feel very natural. The storyline isn't innovative, it's a well-used theme but still effective and I loved the angst that came with it. I don't even know why I never got around reading Ms. Kenner's stories but I'll definitely remedy this oversight. I tasted blood and now I'm hooked!

Second chances romance are like my kryptonite so when I saw this, I knew I had to read it. From life getting in the way or whether it was just bad timing, you can’t deny the feeling you get when you know you’ve been handed another chance at getting your old love back. This was a story of love, forgiveness, sexual desires, and finally becoming your own person.

Wyatt Royce is successful photographer. He sees things differently from you and I and having that type of eye, is what’s made him one of the most sorted after Photographers of his time. Gearing up for his upcoming exhibit that’s going to showcase the most sensual and enthralling pieces he’s ever created, Wyatt knows he’s missing one thing. The perfect model and not just any type of model.

This woman has to have it all: the innocence mixed in with a sexual prowess she didn’t even know she had, and being so bold to the point that any reservations she’s ever felt, are quickly thrown out the window. That is what Wyatt is looking for and when his past comes flying into his door, he knows without a doubt that he’s found her. But old wounds still leaves scars and with a past like theirs, there’s no telling who’s going to be left standing this time around.

Kelsey Draper is innocence personified. She doesn’t break the rules because the last time she did that, her entire world blew up. Having learnt her lesson for the past twelve years, the only thing Kelsey is focused on is taking care of her younger brother. Having dreams of being a professional dancer is no longer on her radar, and getting fifteen thousand dollars in a small amount of time seems damn near impossible. That is until she literally walks into a blast from her past and every feeling she’s ever had, quickly resurfaces ten fold. But even after twelve years of hurt and pain, how can Kelsey and Wyatt finally move forward?

Whenever I read a story that has past flashbacks in it, my only hope is that it’s done well soon I can get a better understanding of everything else. Thankfully in this case, the past was portrayed beyond well and if I’m being quite honest, I enjoyed it more than the present. From meeting each other for the first time, to watching how the friendship grew into something more overtime, was the highlight for me and I secretly wanted more. I loved Wyatt’s character and even though he was a bit standoffish in the beginning, he quickly redeemed himself for me.

My only complaint in this one was Kelsey’s reaction. I wanted her to be more tough in certain situations and every time she had the opportunity, she disappointed me until towards the end. I understood her hesitations and everything she was going through but I think she could’ve dealt with it differently IMO. If you’ve followed the author’s previous books for the Stark World, then I think you’re going to enjoy this immensely.

descriptionI like this cover. Although it doesn't represent the story well. I mean a camera would have been a better choice for a graphic than a lipstick. Still, you have to give props for it's creative use. The red title work on the black and white background makes it pop as well.description

descriptionThis one was good but not great for me. It was well written and well paced for sure, but it was another one of these books where if the characters had a two-minute conversation I wouldn't have spent the majority of the book frustrated waiting for them to get to the point. It was also one of those books that jump back and forth in time which was well done, but I would have preferred much more NOW time. I mean these two spend the equivalation of maybe two days in each others company by the time we reach 87% in the present portion of the book.

description

But like I said it was well written. Incredibly SLOW burn (no sex until 87% and not very descriptive at that). No OW/OM drama. I loved Griffin and would love to see more of him. The two main characters were a bit love/hate for me. I liked Kelsey. I understood what she did. How her father influenced her. The guilt etc. Wyatt, I wasn't a fan of. Mostly because he spends the majority of the NOW acting like a butthurt asshole. Lastly, the ending was so abrupt I thought I must be missing some pages.

So ya, good, but just didn't WOW me as much as I expected it to.description

“Sometimes, it feels so damn good to be bad…”

Wicked Grind by J. Kenner is book one of her brand new series Stark World and boy did she lead us into the tantalising and lust-filled world of photography at its finest.

I am a major sucker for second chance love stories and this one delivered big time. I love the rush and anticipation I feel when reading about two lost loves finding each other once again and rekindling old feelings, knowing the fire is still burning bright. It is my weakness and if I find it’s a second chance love story, I’m all in.

Every great artist needs his muse and sadly Wyatt is missing that. He is preparing for the showcase of his career and he stares down the barrel of not delivering. So much so, his artistic integrity is on the line. This is his opportunity to step out of the Hollywood shadows his family has cast and he does not want to disappoint.

Kelsey has everything Wyatt is looking for to be the main subject for his upcoming erotic photographic showcase; innocence mixed with fierce sexuality. Kelsey needs to make money and make it fast. Her brother tragically is a burn victim and therefore she has a month to come up with fifteen thousand dollars to enrol him in an innovative clinical protocol. Kelsey has burdened herself with finding the money for this treatment. When her best friend comes to her with an opportunity to earn the money she seeks, how can she possibly pass up the chance of a lifetime? That is until she find out that the photographer is Wyatt, or professionally known as W. Royce; a blast from the past, and someone she once felt deeply for.

I am often worried when stories start to delve into the past or use flashbacks. If these sections don’t integrate well with the present day storyline, I can struggle with the flow of the book and subsequently fail to connect properly with the angst the author is attempting to depict. Wicked Grind was so well written that when the flashbacks occurred, they gave me great insight into both Wyatt and Kelsey’s past feelings and their history together which enhanced their present day relationship.

I absolutely loved these two characters together. The sweet innocent kindergarten teacher with beauty and sexuality that goes far beyond anything she’ll ever see in herself and of course, the hot and sexy alpha hero who can at times be a complete jerk, but knows how to redeem himself. My only real issue with this story is I kind of wish Kelsey was stronger on certain issues and spoke up more.

I really enjoyed this well written story of second chance love and wait in anticipation for the next book in the series to be released. I have not read many J Kenner books, but on the back of this one, I know for certain I’ll be devouring plenty more.

Wicked Grind by J. Kenner is a sexy, sinfully enticing erotic slow burn second chance romance!!! With Kenner’s intoxicating prose, she stages and develops a romance that will have you begging and craving for more as two former lovers reunite and discover the second time around was worth the wait.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well that couldn’t be more true for Wyatt Royce, a high in demand photographer who has an upcoming exhibit that will showcase his highly anticipated photography. Wyatt knows what he wants his exhibit to entail. He wants the feel of eroticism, sensuality, boldness, vulnerability and beauty. While majority of his photos are ready to go, the final masterpiece is not ready as he is having trouble finding the right model. After countless searches, he couldn’t find the one that evoked every element he wanted that is until she walked into his studio demanding a shot to be his model.

Kelsey Draper is the girl next door. The girl who has big hopes of becoming a dancer but had to settle being a teacher. She was the girl who followed all the rules her father set except one. She was suppose to stay away from Wyatt but being a young teenager, she couldn’t stay away. She felt a connection to him. She loved him. But her love for him, was not enough for the burden she had to bear. So fast forward to several years later, Kelsey finds herself walking into the lion’s den when she is reunited with her first love, Wyatt.

#WickedGrind

Kelsey is in desperate need of the money and she knows that this modeling gig to be the muse for Wyatt is her only shot in making enough money to help with her brother’s medical needs. She is well aware that Wyatt is angry at her when she had to leave suddenly that summer since she never properly explained why. Naturally, Wyatt doesn’t want Kelsey to be the model even though she is what he is looking for. As Kelsey persuades Wyatt to give her a shot, slowly we see Wyatt letting go his guarded heart. Very slowly, we see Wyatt and Kelsey being drawn together as their chemistry and connection were like a moth to a flame. But as Kelsey slowly gives herself to Wyatt and makes herself vulnerable to him, will Wyatt’s resentment of the past push Kelsey away? And will Kelsey’s insecurities and fears force her to walk away from Wyatt a second time?

Wicked Grind is definitely one of those romances that catapults you as reader to feel the passion, intensity, lust, desire, heartbreak and love that Wyatt and Kelsey have for each other. It didn’t matter how long they were separated, their timing to be together was never right and so Kenner allowed the readers to see and understand that they both needed to grow individually and discover their strengths and weakness. So if you are looking for a love story that was beautifully well developed that captured all the feels, then I would recommend you to read this book. And just remember love is like a picture, we develop from the negatives and focus what it is important. And in this particular case, the only thing Wyatt is capturing and focusing on is the woman that danced and etched her way into his heart.

YAYYY a brand new J. Kenner book / series!

description

This is book one in the Wicked standalone series - all books slighty connect to the Stark world! We met all 3 guys in previous books!

Wyatt is the grandson of a Hollywood legend, but he wants to make it on his own - without grandma's last name. And he's almost made it. His landscape and architectural photographs have become pretty famous these last few years, but now he has a huge project coming up. A series of 50 sensual photographs of amazingly beautiful women. But he needs one more perfect girl for the final 9 pictures. And no model agency has been able to give him this special-little-something girl.
But then she walks into his studio.
Kelsey.
They girl who crushed his heart 12 years ago.
She desperately needs money for her brother, so her bestie lets her take over her audition.
But Wyatt is not happy to see her. He's still angry with her. But he's also still kind of in love with her - even after all these years. But he was hurt pretty badly by what happened back then.
But of course what he thinks happened back then, is not what really happended. And after what happended that night - so much more happened for Kelsey!!!
And even though she needs the money, she didn't know what kinds of pictures Wyatt needed - she's not sure she can do it.

What happens when the one who got away comes back?
Will there be a HEA?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT!!!! ☺

Second chance romances are my weakness. J Kenner's sensual and sweet second chance romance, Wicked Grind, was MY KRYPTONITE.There is nothing as passionate and powerful than two former lovers rekindling that flame and two broken souls becoming whole again. Shiver-me-sexy meets sugary-sweet in Wicked Grind, a second chance romance that SEDUCES with every word.

I DEVOURED Wicked Grind that quickly became MY SWEET ADDICTION. Wicked Grind hums with DESIRE. This COLLISION of childhood lovers was my SWEET ACHE and I could not turn the pages fast enough. I LOVED the hero and heroine, and their UNDENIABLE attraction so much!

Wyatt is a tall, dark, built, and sexy world famous photographer whose work is edgy and enticing. Wyatt is fire-hot and I could not help but MELT!!! When his work collides with his personal life in the form of beautiful Kelsey, his childhood sweetheart, it's one crash that may cause one or both of them to get burned.

I SMOLDERED as the fireworks ignited from these former flames as the words fused with fire. This couple is the perfect match. I felt their connection surge through the pages. The sexual tension and poignant past between Kelsey and Wyatt GRIPPED ME HARD where I was GLUED to their sizzling story.

"Can you handle knowing I'll see you raw and vulnerable? And not just see you. Do you understand that I'm the one who's going to take you there?"

I SWOONED as the sorrow mixed with sweetness hit my heart hard.

"I'm invisible."

"You're not invisible to me."

I SWEATED from the powerful push and pull of this story that tugged my heart in every direction.

"You know my conditions. Now ask yourself what you want. And then ask yourself how much you want it."

J. Kenner is the queen of seduction and oh did Wicked Grind SEDUCE EVERY OUNCE OF ME!!! With writing as smooth as silk with strength in spades, a sweet and sexy hero, and a soulful second-chance romance, I was a GONER!!! I was so sunk into this love story...hook...line...sinker!!!

With its undeniable chemistry and unparalleled intensity, Wicked Grind is PURE INTOXICATION. I LOVED this ENTICING ESCAPE!!! Wicked Grind is one WILD RIDE! This love story is POWER and PASSION in words, and I am panting for more.

Even in my fantasies, I can't bring myself to give us a happily ever after.

I am not sure where to start with Wicked Grind. First, and foremost, I love J. Kenner and her writing style. I’m usually really invested in her stories and can’t stop reading until I’m done. It took me a while to really get into this S.I.N novel. That does not mean that the story wasn’t interesting and sexy … it was. My drawback was Kelsey. I am a total sucker for strong woman who know how to go after and get what they want and Kelsey took a while to get to that place for me.

There was a lot of back-story that needed to be told and I loved every minute of it. I hoped, as I was reading it, that everything that happened would make Kelsey stronger. Instead, it just ate at her self-esteem and made her feel nothing but disdain. She knew that her father played mind games with her. She knew that he was the reason behind her not going after her dreams. She knew that he was the only reason why she couldn’t trust herself not to cause damage to those she loved.

Wyatt comes from a high-powered Hollywood family. He wants nothing more than to make a name for himself and not ride his family’s coat-tails. He fell in love 12 years ago and was heart-broken when she ran out on him. Was she playing him then or is she playing him now? I guess they will never know since she keeps running out … just when he needs her the most.

Kelsey knows that she has to stop running, has to stop blaming herself for her brother’s accident, has to stop … just stop and live her life the way that she wants to live it. Wyatt brings out the fearless in her, the bad. But, can she trust herself to give her all to his project, anonymous or not, and not have everything crash down around her? Just when she is getting confident, giving her heart to Wyatt again, loving her life, one person messes everything up and she runs … again. But, this time, she realizes what she’s giving up and finally reaches for the brass ring.

Once I got over the whole Kelsey thing, I loved this story. It was a beautiful story about woman, how strong they are, how they own their sexuality and how the world perceives them. Wyatt was unbelievable in his determination to bring out the power of woman in pictures. And, once she gave herself totally over to Wyatt, Kelsey represented the insecurities and confidence of women everywhere. J. Kenner, again, gave us a sexually charged book about lost love, mistrust and love found again. I was angered, then I was cheering … I was frowning, then I smiled … I was heartbroken and then I grinned from ear to ear as the story ended.

This erotically charged romance will have you buzzing from head to toe!

For those of you who have never set foot in the Stark World, or if you've only dipped your little toe in, you are not alone! I must admit with some hesitancy that I am still a Stark Trilogy virgin. I have read the S.I.N. series, so I'm not completely in the dark with Damien Stark. I know that J. Kenner is an amazing writer when it comes to erotic romance, so when I heard that she was giving us the STARK WORLD series, I was so ecstatic to dive back into that sexy and enticing world. WICKED GRIND is only book one, but it got me HELLA excited for this series FOR SURE! This features Wyatt Royce and Kelsey Draper, and it is a second-chance love story that will totally titillate your senses from page one.

Twelve years ago, Kelsey got under Wyatt's skin, and coming face to face with her all these years later, he realizes she never left. But she did break his heart with no explanation at all, and it doesn't seem like she's giving up the goods anytime soon. Wyatt has been searching for his muse, and when Kelsey Draper walks into his studio, he knows deep in his heart, it was always her, but he's doesn't have to like it one bit. Kelsey is just as stunned to see Wyatt again, but she is determined to break out of her mold, and if that means dealing with the uproar of Wyatt Royce's attitude, then so be it. These two are fire and ice...oil and water...good and bad, but that doesn't stop their connection from reigniting, into something so fierce. Wyatt wants all the control. Kelsey knows that if she gives him this, he will destroy her, but the Wyatt's pull is just to great. So they enter into an agreement that ends up being so much more.

You guys! I LOVED THIS BOOK! I loved these characters. The sexual tension poured off of each and every page, and just made me yearn for more. This was a very SEDUCTIVE and PASSIONATE read that made me blush on multiple occasions. It was fast-paced, sexy, and oh so dirty! I can't wait to see where this series takes us next!

4 Second Chance Crowns

Wicked Grind has been my first novel by J. Kenner, and while I really enjoyed it, this story was not as sexy as I expected. What I did find was a story that was a bit sweet with loads of sexual tension.

Wyatt has been born into Hollywood royalty, and, as a result, feels as though he lives in the shadows of his family. He looks for a way to stand on his own two feet and gain recognition for is own talents, something that, although different, he also craved in his youth. Throughout the novel, he continues to struggle with this issue, affecting not only his decisions in the business world but also his interactions with Kelsey.

Kelsey is a much more complex heroine than I originally expected. There has been significant verbal abuse from a significant person in her life that has pushed her to have a very careful and lackluster life. While she craves freedom in all areas of her life, in and out of the bedroom, her guilt weighs her down and prevents her from progress. She does, however, through her interactions with Wyatt and his project, begin to grow and change her perceptions of the past and what is good and bad.

This story is a second chance romance, and J. Kenner balances both the past and the present well. With some chapters written in the past, readers get to see how Wyatt and Kelsey meet, and they inevitably fall in love with the sweet and timid relationship that evolves between them. Their past relationship explains their reactions to and interactions with each other as the novel progresses through the main plot. The conflict, while significant and has the possibility to create real upheaval in their lives, has minimal impact and is resoled rather easily. Readers, though, will be satisfied with the ending the author provides.

Wicked Grind was another unexpected yet wonderful read. The likable characters and sweet relationship between the two provides the reader with a great romantic experience.

Finally popped my J. Kenner cherry and it was definitely worth it! Wyatt Segel and Kelsey Draper's story was nothing short of sensual, alluring and intriguing as hell. There's just something about this tale that will make you keep on reading. It's like it'll dig in its hooks on you once you dive in and you just won't be able to stop flipping the pages, especially when you get deeper into the story. You'll also be so wound up from the tension curling around them in the present, then get hauled back to twelve years ago when it all really started.

I enjoyed how this story came full circle. How it was so much more than just the seduction and provocativeness of Wyatt's photography project and the crackling chemistry between him and Kelsey. The way these two started their friendship and that budding romance twelve years ago tugged at my heartstrings and I think I ate those parts up the most. Kelsey's innocence and shyness, coupled with Wyatt's lovestruck moments and sweet gestures made my heart want to burst. It certainly brought a hint of freshness to the whole book. From there, when we get brought back to the present, everything just becomes more intense and emotions get a whole lot heavier. Although Kelsey eventually frustrated the hell out of me with how skittish she was. I got what she went through under her dad's thumb, but her indecisiveness was a little too much. How she kept going back on her word. I absolutely have no idea how Wyatt had all the patience in the world and was able to put up with that.

The way J. Kenner wrote the story was utterly straightforward, yet you can feel every struggle and every emotion emanating from the characters. The regret, the guilt, the longing, but most of all, the passion. The only other thing was the way the POVs were written was confusing at times. It actually threw me off completely in the beginning. Only Kelsey's parts were told in the first person, and both Wyatt's and the flashbacks were all in the third person. It was a tad disconcerting at first, but I guess got used to it. And everything went smoothly from then on.

Wicked Grind is definitely a slow burn kind of second chance romance. It will tease you and lure you in until you can't get enough. Now that I've met more characters in this author's new world, I can't help but feel stoked for the upcoming books! Lyle Tarpin has definitely piqued my interest with all his interactions and funny retorts with his best bud Wyatt here, and I'm looking forward to witness his downfall. Although, for the love of god, I really think Griffin needs a book, yeah? Because seriously, he really does. Read this and you'll know why.

I can't recommend all 3 wicked books highly enough. Wicked Grind is in eye catching Jade Green. I have to tell you all Wicked Grind is a must read. Wyatt Royce is always surrounded by naked women. He has eight women for a show but needs to find the final nine, but he only has twenty seven days before his solo show to find her. He wants this final ninth woman to be special she must be a virgin to the camera. Kelsey Draper needs fifteen thousand dollars to help her brother enroll in trails for an innovative new clinical protocol. But when she auditions for Wyatts he recognises Kelsey from years ago when they first met each other . Will Kesley get to be the ninth woman that Wyatt Royce is looking for to be in his solo show or will he turn her away? I loved every single page of Wicked Grind. I found this idea of a photographer sensational fun and powerful. I'm looking forward to Julie Kenners next set of novels.

4 unexpected stars

What i like about J Kenner's books, it's that somewhere and somehow, there's a link to the original Stark novels that started my journey with J Kenner so many years ago. I'll admit that after all the added instalments and series, i don't remember much but the basics of Nikki and Damien's first book, and yet, it's something that i look forward to remediating soon. Wyatt and Kelsey's story is loosely linked the the Stark family and yet it was completely independent from it that it was fascinating.

4 breath taking dreams

I was surprised - mostly because of the history behind these two have and how much their separation truly hurt them. While i was interested by this newest book by this author, i had some troubles connecting with the characters... maybe because i didn't understand their upbringing considering my own military family or maybe because i couldn't fully understand how their circumstances influenced their adult life... albeit that, i still liked the story and how it panned out, and look forward to reading more from J Kenner in the future.

This is another wonderful second chance romance – young lovers reunited after a decade. Wyatt and Kelsey met one summer before Wyatt went off to photography school. Wyatt is hot, talented, and came from a well to do family. Wyatt is not short of girls hanging on to his every word but he only has eyes for Kelsey – a young, shy, beautiful dancer. I have to be honest I didn’t feel the heroine. Kelsey’s father is strict but it just seems that she is too shy and always running away from Wyatt. At times I feel she was playing hard to get. Wyatt was persistent and eventually they shared one sexy night but immediately afterward Kelsey disappeared before the sheets cooled. A decade later, Kelsey walks into an audition for a job and to her surprise finds a much older, handsome Wyatt who happens to be the photographer. Wyatt is still hurt and Kelsey had some explaining to do. Can Wyatt forgive Kelsey for breaking his heart? Can they rekindle the short-lived romance?
Wicked grind started out really strong. I was very intrigued by the unique plot but I guessed rather quickly the reasons Kelsey ran many years ago, so the anticipation was gone – my fault . I enjoyed the slow burn, the angst, the chemistry, and the passion they shared. I love the hero. He is talented, a celebrity but he is grounded, genuine, and a nice guy. He has the patience of a saint pinning after Kelsey. Kelsey has some issues that make it difficult to go after her dreams. I do admire her though for the way she takes care of her brother. It’s quite an endearing relationship they have for each other. I am intrigued by Griffin – I can see him as a broken hero with scars but he has a huge heart. I would love a story on Griffin. I think the book is well-written, good flow. Sweet, sexy, light-hearted second chance love.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of the book.

Initially, I was a little thrown by the unconventional narrative: the female lead's (Kelsey) chapters are written in first person, chapters told from Wyatt's (the male lead) perspective are told in third person, as are the flashbacks. Once I got used to the shifts, I really enjoyed the story. It was such an emotional and well told Second Chance Romance and was really true to life - it's so easy for outside forces to pull apart young lovers and make them doubt and question their feelings. That is definitely the case with Wyatt and Kelsey - they come from different worlds but find true and deep love with each other over the course of a summer while they are teenagers. Unfortunately, her strict (and @$$holeish) father, a freak accident, and petty teenage gossiping force them apart for 12 years before they're reunited. The way their history is revealed is genius and seeing how they become involved in each other's lives as adults made Wicked Grind a page turner for me and I was so pleased with the character growth shown by both main characters, as well as the resolution that they found with their lives, and their happily ever after. There's also a brief cameo by Mr. Stark himself! I give Wicked Grind four out of 5 wine glasses and I look forward to reading the rest of the Stark World novels!

Wicked Grind is the first book in the new Wicked Standalone Series, by J Kenner, and what a beginning it is. This series runs parallel to the Stark Saga giving us glimpses of some of our faves, and the scene is one we’ve all come to love.

Wyatt Royce has been around for a while, and I’ve been intrigued by his character since his introduction, this is his story. A renowned photographer he’s searching for his muse, in walks Kelsey Draper, the ideal woman. His ideal woman. She’s in dire need of a paycheck to help her brother. The problem? She shattered his heart twelve years ago, and he’s still angry. In a wonderfully written second chance romance, we are presented with two amazing characters. Told in dual POV you fall hard for them as a couple, and individually. As their story unfolds you can’t help but to hope for their HEA, their chemistry jumps off the pages. The push and pull, but things are never as they seem, and in life as in photography, sometimes we need the negatives to develop.

“Trust me. You’re going to enjoy the ride.”

Talk about a story that had me filled with major anticipation, this was it. Wyatt and Kelsey have an intense story and I hung on every word waiting for them to come together.

Wyatt and Kelsey’s story felt intense, raw, and it was filled with so much emotion. They were such interesting characters from different walks of life and they each had their own battles they were dealing with. There’s wonderful character development for both of them. I loved Wyatt, I totally got him, he was alluring and passionate. Now Kelsey, I liked her but she was a bit frustrating too because her biggest obstacle was herself. That moment though when she owns who she is, it's pretty awesome.

Even though this had an intense feel, I thought it was light in the drama department. It's more of an emotional roller coaster. There is a lot of passion simmering and building but I was pleasantly surprised by this slow burn happening in the story. How it was laid out and how their histories are learned made the build to the heated moments that much better.

There was a really good build to the story though I felt the back half was a bit drawn out. I thought the descriptions were great and I was filled with so much anticipation because I was excited with everything I was learning and was looking forward to what would come next. The back and forth flow of their POVs was awesome.

All in all, I thought this was an excellent introduction to the series and am looking forward to more! Awesome read!

Wicked Grind is a sexy and erotic read that will make you fan yourself!
Wyatt is looking for the last masterpiece for his show. He has found models and have the pictures he needed but something is missing… the plat de résistance, his muse.

“No, the girl he wanted would be a virgin with the camera, and he'd be the one who would first capture that innocence.”

He knows what he wants but he does not where to find HER. Time is running out and Wyatt feels the pressure growing. When Kelsey turned up for a casting/photo shoot, she did not expect to have to deal with a blast from the past… Wyatt.

“He’s not a man, he’s a concept. A talisman. Fantasy mixed with memory and topped with a sprinkle of loss.”

Kelsey has always been the perfect child, daughter, teenager… until she met her kryptonite Wyatt. From that moment, her life will never be the same.
“Once again, he’s filled my head. Once again, he’s made me lose control. He’s dangerous. To me, to my heart, and to everyone around me.”

He knows straightaway that she is the one he has been looking for. But there is a BUT! Can he forgive what happened years ago? Why did she do it? Is Kelsey still the perfect innocent girl?
“ Because Kels, you’re the girl who’s always playing it safe. And sweetie, love doesn’t have a safety net.”

Kelsey and Wyatt have a chance to make things right between them but can they forgive and forget?
Wicked Grin is a swoon worthy second chance story. The more we learn about Wyatt and Kelsey’s past , the more we feel for them. They made me laugh but also feel their loss and pain.
Romantic story about two broken souls that deserved an HEA, will they get it?
One click to find out!
“But even in my fantasies, I can’t bring myself to give us a happily ever after. Because between Wyatt and me, the story is a tragedy, not a romance.”

This was a new author to me and be assured this will not be the last book I read.

I love a second chance of love story which is what Wicked Grind is.

Wyatt Royce is a photographer who career is about to take off. If and it's a big if he can find the perfect model to be the centerpiece of his sexy and controversial show.

Kelsey Draper wants to change her good girl image and she believes Wyatt is the man to help her.

However, these two have history together. Is Kelsey in too deep? Will Wyatt and his insistence on dominating in and out of the bedroom be too much for Kelsey, after all it was before?

Will Wyatt and Kelsey be able to move on from the past? Can Wyatt forgive her for breaking his heart 12 years ago? Can he trust thar she won't run again?

Can Kelsey overcome her fears and fight for the man she loves?

It was obvious that neither had outgrown their love for one another. Told from dual POV's it moves between the past and present.

i thoroughly enjoyed Wyatt and Kelsey's story and look forward to reading more in the series.

I received an ARC through the publisher and Netgalley and voluntarily reviewed.

Whoa . . . I’m still trying to recover from the book hangover after reading Wicked Grind. Seriously. I love a great second-chance romance. I adored the back story of Wyatt and Kelsey’s relationship. And telling it through flashbacks was so very effective, and fit in perfectly with the storyline.

I loved that they were both trying to spread their wings—to live for themselves instead of for others. Wyatt through his photography and Kelsey through finally making her own choices regardless of that little, loud, nasty voice in her head. And boy, do they both make some dramatic choices.

Wyatt and Kelsey practically melted my Kindle. Their sexy times—whoa, they were hot! But their relationship wasn’t based upon sex alone—they had so much baggage, so much to communicate . . . and I couldn’t help but to root for them to finally admit their feelings, finally address their past, finally love like they should have all those years ago. ~ Missy, 4 stars

Every time I enter J. Kenner’s Stark World, I’m transported into an erotically enticing environment - one that provides readers with multifaceted characters and a plot line rich with intrigue, heart, and emotion.

In Kenner’s newest release, Wicked Grind, she includes all of the components that readers have grown to adore about her stories and adds in a slow burn, second chance romance element that illustrates how difficult it is to break free from parental influence, how easy it is to believe the worst in people when life turns ugly and devastating and the need to prove oneself without using the family name to get ahead.

Wicked Grind alternates between Kelsey Draper and Wyatt Segel’s perspectives, flashing back to their first encounters 12 years ago and providing insight into how one night of adolescent passion…one night of taking risks and losing all self control leads to over a decade of regrets and what might have beens.

Kenner does a fantastic job of contrasting Kelsey and Wyatt’s lifestyles as teens as well as adults - one conforming to her father’s strict mandates because living outside of the box he forces her in has done nothing but hurt those she loves and one who despite his family’s wealth and Hollywood influence wants to be known for his personal accomplishments not gain accolades due to his family name.

As Kelsey and Wyatt reunite in present day, they must deal with the baggage of their past and learn to trust one another again because as much as neither of them want to admit it, they need each other for so much more than just to complete Wyatt’s upcoming show. But in order for both of them to move forward, they need to stop punishing themselves and each other and realize that this time around can be different as long as both Kelsey and Wyatt accept what happened all those years ago and focus on their true feelings for one another, shedding the hurt and anger from the past and preventing anyone from coming between them, whether it be one man’s puritanical beliefs based on a broken heart or a provocative and sensual show that demands Kelsey to bare herself in ways that she’s never done before.

I love how each series in the Stark World has such diverse and intriguing characters and that even though the environment uses some of the same story elements, the way that Kenner utilizes them vary based on the dynamics of her characters and their differing backgrounds as well as the conflict she creates for them to endure.

I do have to say that I felt like the end of Kelsey and Wyatt’s story was a bit rushed. When events caused their relationship to implode and things were in disarray, the way they were dealt with felt a bit incomplete…I wanted more…I needed more because Kelsey’s transformation throughout the story is one of the pivotal conflicts of the story line and I wanted to understand how she evolved and finally became the person…the woman…the dancer that always been lurking under the surface - she just needed the strength and support to free her!

Regardless of feeling a bit underwhelmed by the ending, I truly enjoyed Kelsey and Wyatt’s story. The flashbacks worked well with the present-day story line and they illustrated the reasons behind Kelsey’s abandonment and Wyatt’s bitter feelings towards Kelsey upon reuniting with her 12 years later. Kelsey and Wyatt’s new relationship has a slow burn feel to it, which makes sense considering everything that has happened in the years they’ve been apart and the fact that there are unresolved issues to deal with…both of their reactions and subsequent actions fit the situation and once the truth is revealed, their choices become based on their current attraction and need for each other.

I’m so ready for Lyle’s story in Wicked Dirty!

Wicked Grind (Stark World #1) by J Kenner
4 stars!!!

“He’s not a man, he’s a concept. A talisman. Fantasy mixed with memory and topped with a sprinkle of loss.”

J Kenner brings us Wicked Grind which is the first in a series of spin off books in the Stark Conglomerate World of the wealthy. J Kenner first caught my attention with the Starks and I have been a huge follower ever since, there is something about how this author pens her erotic romances that has me hooked from first to last page. I will say that this one the tamest books I have read of hers, because this book is all about the SLOWWWWW BURNNNNN, and it really gets to you. The chemistry and the sizzling current between these two more than motors this book along and you know that when the time comes it is going to be explosive.

This is the story of Wyatt and Kelsey and is a second chance romance. While I found the plot predictable it did not lessen my enjoyment and having that ability to read between the lines only made me more invested in their present. This book does flash back from past to present and while personally I would have loved more time in the present, especially after, I loved what I did get.

Wyatt is a photographer, he is the son and grandson of Hollywood greats and from an early age had always wanted to make it on his own, without the family name giving him the leg up. Wyatt wanted to earn his own money, support himself and make it…himself and he was well on the way to succeeding. His upcoming gallery showing of his latest series of photographs was destined for greatness, he just need to find “the one” to make it happen.

“All he really knew was that he wanted answers. But at the same time, he didn’t want to open wounds that had healed long ago.”

Kelsey was a school teacher and a dance teacher, her love of dance is what keeps her going. Having a very sheltered upbringing, she is very pure and proper, but there was an inner vixen underneath that was just waiting to be unleashed. Kelsey came alive when she danced, she became a different person and it was the only time she ever felt free.

Both Wyatt and Kelsey have only loved once and that was when they were teenagers and met one summer. Kelsey made Wyatt work for it and just when it looked like everything was going to be okay, it all went to pot. Neither found the other, but maybe it just wasn’t their time, now their paths cross once again and once again Wyatt has found “the one.”

“You know you’re not playing fair.” “Maybe not,” she countered, her face lit with pleasure. “But I like the way it feels to finally be in the game.”

These two were chalk and cheese, Wyatt having grown up in the spotlight and Kelsey sheltered by her being under her father’s thumb. Both upbringings have had a lasting effect on them and one they are desperate to rid themselves of. When these two first re-connect the spark that had lain dormant for years some becomes a roaring fire and this becomes a case of misunderstandings and leaving the past in the past.

“In other words, Kelsey, you don’t want to be your daddy’s girl at all. You want to be bad…”

J Kenner delivered a cute second chance romance wrapped up in the erotic world of sensual photography. I loved these two as a couple even if I just wanted them to sit down and talk it all out as soon as they met, but where would the fun be in that? This one captured my attention from start to finish and while I would have loved more at the end, it ended in a great place.
