Mari Carr knows the right way to write a story that not only holds your interest but keeps you asking for more. Lochlan and May's story was both romantic and heart-wrenching. The man who is convinced that the Collins Curse will never hit him and the woman who has everything to lose getting involved with him. May is nothing if she's not stubborn. She doesn't know how to ask for help. She shoulders all responsibility at work and at home and feels like there is no one that she could bother to help her. As Lochlan keeps asking for more and more from her, she can't help but start to feel the strain of being wonder woman. One night changes it all and the part of her life she that she was hiding is out in the open. Lochlan can't do enough to try to help her and she keeps pushing him away. She can't afford an affair with a man that is not looking for a happily-ever-after, who could steal her heart and not give his. She comes with a ready made family, she's vulnerable, she can't stay away from him. Especially when he fulfills all her fantasies. Lochlan gets the hives when he hears the word “kids”. Until he meets Chloe and Jenny. His heart expands and he knows that he'll do whatever it takes to protect them and May. And, as for May, from the moment she lowered her eyes and said “yes, sir” he knew he had his work cut out keeping himself in check around her. But, the more they work together, the more he finds out, the Warrior comes out and it's time for him to go into protection mode and do whatever it takes to get her to see just what her and her family have become to him. The curse hit and hit fast and hard … now to get May to see the curse as a blessing … get her to trust him … get her to fall in love with him as he has her. I adore stories where the man has to work to get the girl, where his heart is being worn on his sleeve. And, that is usually the case with the Wild and Wilder Irish series. They have to work for the love of a good woman but, when they finally earn it, it's theirs forever. You know that the Collins' always rally around the pub and it was no different here. I love Pop Pop and his words of wisdom, his stories about the past and the love that he has for him family. I am not looking forward to the day when Ms. Carr decides that he has to leave us. But, I always look forward to the next book in this series. Mari Carr just has a way with words, with writing romance and with giving us the perfect happy ending. (view spoiler)[Yes, we have an HEA and two people who are in love but there is a depressing side of this story that really caught me by surprise. (hide spoiler)] Dee is a quirky, in-your-face girl. She tells you like it is and puts it all out there. One chance, that’s all she knew she had, to let Jed know how she felt. It was an end of a friendship or the beginning of a dream. What it turned out to be was utter devastation. Jed never knew a real home … never had real friends … always felt like there was something missing in his life. His mother had him terrified of his father finding him but she would never elaborate on why. When his one true friend turns into his home, she’s ripped out of his life. Now, 10 years later he hopes she can answer some questions and bring him home again. I was truly depressed throughout most of this book. I kept wondering how and when they would find each other again, how they would reconnect and hopefully find their true hearts. Jed is honest to a point but not when it’s needed most and Dee is just really “herself”. She’s an indie screenwriter and can’t write a happy ending into her stories. I wonder why. He’s a comic book graphic novelist with an e-mail address of driftinginmelbourne. I wonder why. But, the story held me because it wasn’t your normal boy meets girl, they fall in love and live happily-ever-after. It had me turning pages as quick as I could read them because I needed to find out what was going to happen. So, if the rest of the series is like this book, I will definitely read them. Here is an author that writes contemporary romance with a twist. Has her readers sitting on edge waiting for either the next shoe to drop or love to find a way. This story could have gone either way but I am thrilled that she ended it the way she did. Madeline Ash held my attention, had me anticipating and kept me totally engrossed in this unusual love story. Review copy provided for an honest review. Why? I really loved the way she wrote this story and the way the characters came alive. I could hear Gavins Irish Brogue and loved the way that she intermingled Gaelic throughout the story. Both characters had their reasons for “just a fling” that everyone could understand … a broken heart and a mother that can’t be pleased. But, sometimes you just have to allow the attraction you feel take over and go with the flow. Then, once you realize just how much you have come to care for that person, you just have to give in. Gavin was sexy as all hell with his glasses and Irish ways … Antonella was the hot Italian that knew what she wanted and went after it. Together, they rocked the beach house and and celebrated the 4th of July with a bang! His Love was a fun book to read. Set in Long Island in a beach house, it’s the perfect summer read. Everyone in the house are friends and are all very supportive of each other. It was no different for Gavin as he moved in for a month with his sister. Watching Gavin and Toni waltz around each other was fun and frustrating … you just wanted to yell at them to get it over with. But, sometimes the chase and build up is worth the wait. And, Jennifer Gracen did a wonderful job of building us up, easing us in and then setting off the fireworks. His Touch, His Kiss and His Love make up the Summer In New York series by Tule Publishing. They are all stand alone books and written by three amazing authors. They were sweet. they were sexy and they were hot. And, believe me, if you’ve never read any of these authors, you will be looking for what ever books they wrote before and looking forward to what they write in the future. As for His Love …. I would definitely recommend it if you are into hot Irish guys, the beach and hot summer nights. Review copy provided for an honest review. In fact, this was a one day read for me because I had to see where the story was going, how they were going to work out their arrangement and when Ned ws going to realize that this was more than a business arrangement. Jemima was a sweet woman with a huge heart. She fell in love with Gwennie the moment she spoke with her and was surprised at what she was doing. But, when she met the rest of the children, she knew that she had to make the proposal to Ned … let her be the Nanny. But, she was totally surprised with his alternate proposition. As she agrees to the business proposition, she can't help but wonder if she's making a mistake in agreeing to a platonic marriage. Especially when she sees Ned relax, smile more and play with his children. She has to guard her heart … Ned constantly reminds her that it's a marriage of convenience not of love. Ned was trying his best. Losing his wife changed everything for him. A single Dad, he needed to make more time for the children, get the ranch up and running again and hire some people to help him out. The only thing holding him back is the bank. Loan denied … until Jemmy walks in holding Gwennie's hand. One misunderstanding, one outrageous plan and he has the loan, hired hands and … a wife. But, as the children grow more and more attached to Jemmy, he knows that he didn't think everything through and may have a bigger problem to face – his heart. As things progress, as Ned asks Jemima to back off on her affection towards the children and as Jemmy's heart breaks, Ned knows that he can't let her stay the full year, he has to let her go before any of them become more attached. But, he can't … even though he told her to go, he can't let her go. His Outback Nanny was such a sweet story. Romantic? Not so much until the end. The story itself was cute but it took a really long time for both of them to finally come around. In fact, there were times that I wished Ned would stop thanking Jemmy, that Jemmy would stop being so insecure and that they both just looked into each others eyes and saw what everyone else saw. The highlight of the story was Kelsey, Gwennie and Ryan. They were utterly adorable and stole my heart, especially Gwennie – she wore her heart on her sleeve and said the damnest things. Ryan was just adorable. And, Kelsey, being the oldest, could have been a lot more snarky and pre-teen, but she wasn't. Ned and Jemima's world ended up revolving around the children and it made for an adorable story. On top of all of this, I loved all the Aussie euphemism's and sayings. Annie Seaton did a wonderful job in bringing the Australian Outback to life for those of us who have never been there. She let the story flow and was able to draw me in with her descriptions and writing style. I really enjoyed His Outback Nanny and would love to read more of the Prickle Creek series. There were times where I wondered where the story was going and how it was going to get there but, all in all, it was a good rock star story. A hard, hunky lead singer and the woman who brings him to his knees, that doesn't take any of his crap … a recipe for success. Noah was your typical rock star. Moody, belligerent and ignorant. Or was he. He was extremely private … especially about his personal life, his family and the lyrics of Dare to Love. There was no way that anyone, including his band, would ever know how or why he wrote the words to their biggest hit. Especially a curvy, sexy, beautiful reporter. No matter what she does or says. Tori knows that getting the inside scoop on Iron Rogue, especially the meaning behind Dare to Love, will seal her career. Of course, the typical rock star is being difficult and throws her out. But, she's one determined woman … she'll find a way to get what she wants even if it means she'll break the law. But, when she's caught, all she can do is plead her case and hope that they give her a chance and not turn her over to the authorities. Well, she got what she wanted but did it cost her more than she was willing to give up. Dare to Love was interesting. It was fascinating seeing the two sides of Noah … the rock star and the at-home man. It was also fun watching Tori take him down a notch or two. Her compassion combined with his heartache and the wise words of a dying man was what finally brought them together, what finally showed us the true Noah. Now, I did have some problems throughout the story. Some of the dialogue felt a little stilted to me and I felt that Noah repeated himself an awful lot. But, even though that threw me off a bit, I really did like the story and how well each of the characters were portrayed. There was also a lot of sex. And, I mean a lot of sex. Nothing bad about that except some of it didn't fit and made me feel like it was put in just to have more in the story. But, I am looking forward to where Sandy Sullivan is going to bring the rest of the boys in the band. They all sound like they would have wonderful backstories and would be intriguing stories to read. Merged review: [image] [image] I enjoyed Dare To Love. Yes, r Kitty‘s review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews 5 STARS Mary Hughes never, ever ceases to amaze me with her telling of a paranormal story. Yes, rumor has it that Paranormal is on it’s way out. Not so with the way Mary tells her stories. Comical, loving, oh so sexy will never go out of style whether it be Paranormal or just plain Romance. Mary Hughes makes you forget that you are dealing with delicious, gorgeous vampires until their fangs come out. Nixie and Julian are just a fun couple … she plays in a Polka/Rock band and he’s an attorney. Together, they are like a force of nature. He needs to protect her, she needs to remember what she was like before she was pregnant and get those feelings back. Dealing with pregnancy, naming the baby, desperately trying not to curse, a stalker and a murder has them connecting and figuring out just what they are both afraid of in the future. No, it’s not humans finding out about vampires but something a little more dear and closer to their hearts. I can always count on Mary Hughes making me smile, making me feel better and just enjoying reading. She has a way with words, with mixing music with sex and romance, of just writing a feel-good book. She brings all her characters together in one way or another and doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to making her characters sexy, interesting and fun. So, if you are feeling down, looking for something light and fun, sexy and romantic, pick up the Biting Series. I fell in love with the whole gang and always look forward to revisiting with them to see what they are getting into now. I couldn't stop reading the Rescue Me series and always waited until the next one came out. I was happy that Kallypso was bringing the Damian and Savannah saga to an end and was looking forward to seeing where she brought things. I am even more excited that she will finally give Marc and Angelina their HEA in the future as well. But, back to Damian and Savannah. The trial is finally approaching and Savannah finds herself knee-deep in all the drama and is having a hard time dealing with it. She refuses to tell Damian but, she should know, he has ways of finding things out. They may not be conventional but his ways work on Savannah. Damian is desperately trying to find a way to let Savannah know that she is strong, she can face the man who destroyed her and do it with her head held high. He has his ways but he knows that, if the truth comes out about the night of her rescue, he could have problems. His worst fear comes true but his Savannah handles everything the way he knew should could. Yes, I was happy that Savannah and Damian may actually have an HEA after everything they went through. I was just a little disappointed with how it came about. I had a hard time with some of the time lines in the story and I felt that it was a little wordy at times. I also couldn't believe that Marisol would be friends with the “college boys” next door whose mommy left them alone at Christmas then, all of a sudden, he becomes the hero. I've always enjoyed this series because of how consistent the story lines were. Unfortunately, Somebody's Perfect didn't hit the high notes for me. I loved the Alive Day that brought all the Master's together and the scene that followed … that's when I felt the story come alive. I enjoyed catching up with Adam and Kitten (my pen name namesake) and the triplets. In the end, I felt that Damian and Savannah were truly blessed with the family that they have surrounding them … both Damian's and the Master's At Arms. Merged review: [image] [image] When you go back to a series that you absolutely loved, you have high hopes that the author will enthrall you the way they did in the beginning. Why would Mary Hughes make me work for a happy ending? Well, I got my answers with a couple of surprises. Kat. Well Kat was really kind of annoying. She was always right. She always wanted to work alone. She didn’t trust anyone but her sister. And, she was driven by revenge. When faced with the truth about who she is and where she came from, she just rejects it all. She. Hates. Vampires. And, she makes sure everyone knows it. But, there is something about Ryker and his personality. She trusts him then she doesn’t. But, she’s doing the same thing that she accuses him of … keeping clues away from him. Until the time comes where she can’t anymore and she not only gets the surprise of her life but finds out that she fell in love with the one thing she hates the most in the world. VAMPIRE. Ryker was kind of funny. Well, the characters he played were. Until it was time to get serious and find the King of the Vampires. Yes, he is keeping things away from Kat. He knows that if she knows the truth, she’ll hate him. He will do whatever he has to do to find Elias, he’ll keep her safe and then he will walk away. He was never meant to find his mate. But, Kat surprises him, she intrigues him and he can’t control her. Now what does he do? I always enjoy Mary Hughes’ stories, her characters, her imagination. It takes a lot of creative thinking to come up with paranormal stories that have drama, humor and love. And, she worked really hard and had to get very inventive for me to like Kat in the end. But, she did it. What she did to Elias was really surprising and, sorry, funny. Hopefully he’ll be his old, confusing and demanding self again. She surrounded Kat with characters we love and then gave us Ryker to love as well. A true Mary Hughes story that was a little bit dark, a little bit amusing and a whole lot of fun to read. I don’t know what’s happening but books about Vegas and teachers really seem to be hitting the book stands big this year. I guess it’s going to be a hot and steamy summer after all! Crystal Jordan took a harmless vacation and turned it into a week of indulgence, dreams come true and and some wildly erotic sex. Meg is a bookworm. Stays home during Spring Break, pampers her depressed dog, has a few glasses of wine and winds down with a good book. She definitely isn’t going to go to Vegas with the rest of the teachers. She doesn’t need the companionship and she sure as hell isn’t going with Finn coming along on the trip. One botched teacher/teacher relationship at her school is enough for her. Especially when she was a catalyst in the whole sordid affair. Finn just wants to get some time alone with Meg. He knows he could convince her to give him a chance. Not all relationships are going to end bad and he does not have a reputation as a “love ‘em and leave ‘em” type. He knows that there is more to Meg than meets the eye and he really wants to find out what that more is. Well, the lust he has for her is also a huge reason why he wants to spend time with her too. Finn finally convinces Meg to spend the week with him in Vegas, give him a shot, get to know him. She agrees to one week with him but everything is over when they leave Vegas. Now, he has to find out what really has her spooked and get her to fall for him as hard as he is falling for her. What was refreshing about “Vegas Vacation”? Well, it was nice to see the guy squirming here. Finn fell for Meg hard and he was working to get her to open up to him and give them a chance. It’s usually the other way around – where the guy is pushing the girl away because of commitment issues. Meg is a hard sell throughout the book. She knows she could fall in love with Finn but her hard and fast rule is no relationship with a co-worker. She really has to rethink her values when she returns home and realizes just how hard she fell for Finn and that she really needs to give him a chance. I really enjoyed reading “Vegas Vacation”. It was a light, fun read. The story moved along without a lot of “fillers”. The sex scenes were very well written, hot, sexy and fun! A perfect book for a Saturday afternoon, sitting by the pool or on the beach and fantasizing about a hot gym teacher and the love of his life. If gym teachers were this hot when I was in school, I may have taken more interest in “floor exercises”. So, when I was asked if I wanted to Kitty's review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews 3.5 Stars OK, so it’s really cold in the Northeast right now. So, when I was asked if I wanted to review a baseball book, I jumped on it. Why, because it’s only 33 days until Pitchers and Catchers report to Spring Training which also means that Spring is right around the corner. Taking a chance on a new to me author and reading about a sport that I actually love and thinking about Spring was what was going to keep me warm as I was wrapped up in my Scooby-Do blanket. And, the sex was HOT … Jake Baldwin burned up the pages as he seduced the ultra-conservative Nikki Case during the Sonic’s chase for the Pennant! And, YEA! A man that was spent after making love and not “getting it up” 3 or four times right in a row (that’s just not natural). He always made it count. Unfortunately, the storyline felt a little bit broken up to me. Now, bear with me here and I’ll explain. I am truly an avid baseball fan that could probably recite stats, I love my Yankees and go to as many games as we can afford.. So, with that said, I felt like it was a really short baseball season. The book spanned itself over 8-9 months, but I felt like we never really got out of the beginning of the season when we were at the All Star Break and then it was over. I guess I was expecting a little bit more. But, I did love the story itself. The bad-boy baseball player with the librarian-like PR representative. The side of Jake that no one saw – loving, caring and compassionate – was really sweet. But, he really got me when he didn’t come totally clean with Nikki on the bet. He had plenty of opportunities and as soon as the bet was made, you kinda knew where the story was going to lead. I actually really liked Nikki and her personality. She really tried to come off as the hard-nosed PR person hired to whip the team into shape But, deep down, she wanted them to accept her and her new ideas. Some of the pranks played on her were hysterical and others were just down-right mean. But, in the end, the feelings that she tried to suppress came out, the team realized what an asset she really was and Jake finally fessed up and admitted his feelings for her. Will I take a chance on Katie Rose again? Definitely. I did enjoy her writing style and she really attempted to make things true to life. If it wasn’t for the gaps in the story, Too Hot to Handle would have been a Home Run but it ended up being a Triple for me. Review copy provided for an honest review. Unfortunately, I couldn't become fully involved in this book. I couldn't feel the connection between Zara and Grant or understand his way of living his life. Grant was a little overbearing throughout the story. I understand dominance but, he was over the top. He finally started redeeming himself with me about 80% into the story with Zara. But I still couldn't feel the relationship. He truly came off as a control-freak and scared me a little. But, when it came to his family, his little Princess, he stole my heart. But, even with his family it was his way or no way. I just couldn't understand him, his heavy-handedness or his harshness toward everyone around him. As for Zara, she just didn't ring true to me. She was determined to follow her dream, which I applaud her for but, she also had a career teaching children who she, supposedly, adored. She felt like she was “settling” if she didn't go after her dream to dance in New York. Then, when she got that dream, she started wondering if she traded one dream for another by leaving Grant. She, in all honesty, confused me and couldn't really figure out her way of thinking. The dialog in the story was very stilted. It just didn't seem to ring true when they spoke or even when Grant spoke “at” his family. It just felt like it was scripted, nothing that you would really say in real life. There didn't seem to be that give and take that you would have in a conversation and this distracted me immensely. Unfortunately, with that said, I couldn't enjoy Love's Dance no matter how much I wanted to. [image] Merged review: [image] I was truly looking forward to reading this story. Love, fear, distrust, a father from hell, a sweet woman and a man looking for his place in the world. He found it in his childhood home with one of the most unlikely woman. Calvin was lost. Going home and having to face his future with the possibility of no baseball in it was daunting, scary and humbling. Finding out all that he missed while he was away was humiliating. But, now he is here and he is going to step up to the plate. He'll be here to help his grandfather. He'll be here to make sure the farm is running smoothly. At least until he gets the call-up again. But, will that ever happen? He knows he has to face his father and he knows that he'll have to deal with his attitude. The only thing keeping him half-way sane and fully insane is Josie. He needs to find a way to break through to her … get her to open up … get her to let him into her life. Josie learned the hard way that trust is earned and not freely given. Now she is living with the past that could come back to haunt her. Unfortunately, Calvin isn't really helping matters. Working around the farm shirtless … buying her groceries … getting her involved with more that just taking care of the bees. Now, here she is out and about with him and, of course, the one thing she feared comes true. She opened herself up and not he's shutting her out … without listening to her side of the story. Joanna Rock really did a nice job with this story. It was fluid, it was believable and it was interesting. She built the plot to the inevitable ending that had me both horrified and happy. She hit it out of the park with how the game of baseball is played and what players go through … especially with pushy stage-fathers. Yes, she made it easy to not like his father and step-mother. But, I really enjoyed the rest of the characters that she built and am looking forward to the rest of the books in this series. Not without some bumps in the road, though. I adored watching Jeremy and Elizabeth become the people that they knew that they could be. Both of them fighting addictions caused by past loves and keeping themselves ahead of the game was just amazing. And, when the past comes back to haunt them, it's, surprisingly, Elizabeth that stands her ground and shows everyone just what true love is all about. Jeremy was wonderful. He knew what he had to do to keep ahead of his alcoholism and was doing it just fine until Elizabeth. She showed him how to live life again, how to let people back in and how to trust again. His family could not have been happier. And, Elizabeth knew just about everything there was to know about him exact the truth about why he fell into the bottle. When she finds out everything, will it be the end? As for Elizabeth, she knew enough about addictions that she could stand beside Jeremy and support him no matter what. But, will he accept the part her family had in bringing hardship to his family? And, there's a part of him that he's holding back from her .... will she ever be able to get through to him enough to get him to realize that money, her family, nothing, will stop her from loving him? I just fell in love with both of these characters enough that, since Jolyse Barnett is a new-to-me author, I went and bought more of her books. I was thrilled with her style of writing, with how her characters may have had flaws but pushed through to become whole again and just the way she gave me the HEA that I was waiting for. She incorporates family and friends ... she shows you the bad with the good ... she wrote characters that we all could relate to in one way or another. I love strong woman and the men who stand beside them. And, even though she wrote Elizabeth with a few flaws, she shows her strength in the end and had me smiling and cheering her on. In fact, I was cheering for both Jeremy and Elizabeth for overcoming the past, their addictions and finding love with just one kiss. Review copy provided for an honest review. Review copy provided for an honest review. ...more |

I can always count on Tara Sivec putting a smile on my face. Whether it’s on Summer Sweet Island or now in Harvest Grove, she brings humor and love with no drama to every one of her stories. They are all fun, interesting and always have a happily ever after. Sidney and Ford were no exception to any of the rules that Tara Sivec makes for her characters. They were both moody, yet fun. They were both in love but refused to admit it. They were both meant for each other. Sidney has no idea to what lengths Ford would go to to protect her and make sure she’s safe. And Ford has no idea that Sidney is all talk and definitely no action. With the help of Marcus and finally paying attention, Ford and Sidney find their way to true love. And, the road to true love was paved with lots of candy corn, hot dogs on a stick, mashed potatoes, care bears and lots and lots of pumpkins … a few trips to jail, a haunted house and Pumpkin Slap Shots. But, they traveled that road with a smile and a scowl, hand in hand. I love Tara Sivec and how she brings her characters and her stories to life. She always puts a humorous spin on everything that she writes. Her characters are quirky and are surrounded by other characters that are just as much fun as the main ones are. This story wouldn’t have been the same without Penny and Ginger, Marcus and Callie, Aunt Dawn and Kenny. And, of course, the “dumb bitch” cat. Yep, another hilariously written, love inducing book by Tara Sivec. Trick or Treat! Review copy provided for a voluntary review. Unbelievable. That is the only way to describe Stolen Faith. I was actually nervous throughout the story because I wasn’t sure which way this pair was going to bring the story. At one point I even put it down thinking, oh no they wouldn’t. Only to pick it up again having to know what they wrote. Izabel, Brennan and Rowan were as opposite as any three people could get. But, in their own ways, they complimented each other. They also needed each other more than they thought they ever would. Yes, a definite trial by fire after flaunting their relationship. And, not understanding the consequences or the danger that was around the corner. They learned, quickly, that their triad had to trust and rely on each other in order to get through their ordeal. But, they weren’t ready for what would come next or who they would encounter. As the story progresses and the three of them realize that they truly need each other and that love is blooming even under the dire circumstances they are in, you hold your breath not knowing what is next for them. What kind of torture they will endure or how much more they can take. How will everything come to a head and end? How will they get out of this predicament? Or the next? Twists and turns. Ups and downs. Surprise after surprise. I couldn’t put the book down. Mari Carr and Lila Dubois really outdid themselves with Stolen Faith. I love the whole Trinity Masters and Masters Admiralty series but Stolen Faith was both one of my favorites and one that I was afraid to turn the pages in. Keeping you sitting on the edge of your seat and holding your breath is a theme in these series and I couldn’t think of two better authors to do it to you. Unbelievable characters, engrossing story lines, drama, suspense and love. I don’t think you could ask for much more in a story. Review copy provided for a voluntary review. ...more |

I would highly recommend that you read Chaos before reading Justice so that you could truly understand what both Cash and Dev have dealt with in their pasts and how they got to this point in their lives. I would also consider reading Havoc and Order since Keys and Alec and their relationship are referred to in Chaos and Justice. I loved Dev throughout the series. He didn’t give a damn. His way was the right way no matter what anyone said, even the federal government. He knew some of his actions would hurt Cash but the ends definitely justified the means and he would deal with Cash after the fallout. He was in love but couldn’t admit it to himself until it was apparent to everyone who saw the two of them together and until all the chaos is over. He dreamed of a big family and of Cash being by his side. He never dreamed that the truth of everything that was going on would lead to the end of being with the Disciples of Havoc. Cash was the most patient and understanding man that I have ever read. He understood why Devilman did what he did but was so frustrated when he went rogue and caused nothing but Chaos. He’s loved Dev for years, stayed away not knowing if that love would ever be reciprocated. No, he didn’t reveal who he really was in the beginning and the way he brought Dev into the fold was totally wrong but, he did what he had to do when Dev realized who he really was. And, his love grew and grew to the point where he didn’t care that they were breaking rules, well, mostly. He fell in love with Dev the man, Devilman the biker and Dev the father. He knew there would never be another man for him but he also knew that the federal probe into the Disciples of Havoc had to end before they could ever really begin. And, end it did with lies, half-truths and betrayals. I enjoyed all four books in the Tattoos & Ties Series. Havoc and Order didn’t really hold my attention as much as Chaos and Justice did. Keys and Alex were interesting but I found myself more invested in Dev and Cash. I enjoyed that all the major players carried through all four books and that events that happened during the first two books also took place in Chaos and Justice, but with a different perspective. More things made sense to me. And, Kindle Alexander made sure that her characters and their backgrounds were interesting. You understood their frustrations, their reasons for their feelings and why things happened the way they did. Review copy provided for a voluntary review. ...more |

As anyone knows who reads my reviews, I am a huge Lisa Renee Jones fan. I can’t say enough good about how she writes a romantic suspense story. How she drags her readers into the hearts and minds of her characters. She keeps you turning page after page wanting to know where the story is going and what’s going to happen next. I enjoy that … the suspense she creates, the characters she creates and the stories that she creates. Not a huge fan of the cliff-hangar but, for a LRJ book, I’ll live with it. Book 1 of the Necklace Trilogy is interesting. From the beginning, we know what PART of the mystery is. The rest will be uncovered as the story unfolds, I’m sure. But, what got me the most is that this story is set in Nashville. Yes, the one city that is on the top of my bucket list to visit. I loved all the country music references and how their hearts mirrored some beautiful songs. But, I digress. The Necklace Trilogy has a lot of moving parts to it. Allison 1 and 2 … Dash … Tyler. There is more than meets the eye to each one of these characters. As this is Book 1, the groundwork is being established and slowly being uncovered. But nothing is being totally revealed. Again … definitely a page turner wanting to get to the end to find out everyone’s secrets, their desires and their motivations. I can’t wait to find out what really happened between Dash and Tyler … what the necklace represents … where’s Allison? I’m sure we will find the answers to all these questions. Until then, we’ll just have to deal with the volatile relationship of Allison and Dash. We’ll have to enjoy the auction and the action and try to figure out how all parts are going to fit together in the end. The rest will just have to wait. Review copy provided for a voluntary review. What a wonderful and engaging story Best Men was. For being a debut novel, Sidney Karger did a fantastic job building characters, letting the story flow and giving us hilarious laugh-out-loud moments. You couldn’t help but hope for a happy ending for Max and Chasten. Yes, opposites attract and they were definitely opposites. Max may be gay but he’s not the stereotypical gay man … he can’t be bothered with weddings, fashion, peopleing or anything fancy. Whereas Chasten, a well-known Chocolatier is outgoing and funny. As they both vie to be Paige’s favorite gay, they learn a lot about themselves and each other. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Best Men and couldn’t wait to see where it was taking me. It was a slow-burn romance with characters that were entertaining. A great summer read that will keep you smiling throughout Review copy provided for a voluntary review. ...more |

But, it is well worth the read if you are looking for a little romance with some sarcastic wit and friendships that last a life time. A second-chance romance, Happy Place encompasses unlikely friendships that have grown into a family. It’s filled with characters that will make smile and laugh then make you stop and consider how you handle life. It was witty and heartwarming while being emotional. Only to have “you, you, you” playing in your mind. This was a new-to-me author that I would thoroughly enjoy reading again. The story was interesting and held my attention. I enjoy quirky characters, story-lines that don’t always follow the norm, romance and happy endings. Happy Place gave me all that and a little more. But, it’s Boston and I’m a Yankee fan. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed this opposites attract sports romance. The story starts off in Boston with cannoli and ends with come painful decisions that truly weren’t painful at all. When you chose to love someone who loves you back just as much, that decision can’t be painful at all. I loved the give and take, push and pull throughout the story. It was sweet at times and hard to handle at times. The interactions between Sophie and her dad were so heartwarming and heartfelt. They truly made me smile. The slow burn between Sophiei and Jonas was wonderful to watch. Play For Me did touch my heart. It was well written, interesting, funny and romantic. It was a cute, romantic story.
