OMG Dead By Midnight was pulse pounding, and heart wrenching! I thought going into this book it would be a little action, the good guys would save the day, and there would be Christmas cuteness. Yea that so didn't happen. Instead I got a epic, nail biting story with all my favorite characters, as they fought for their lives and the lives of those they loved. There was quite a few moments in this book where I found myself holding my breath, freaking out over what was happening. OMG there was so many good moments, sweet moments, scary moments, and heroic moments in this book that my feelings were all over the place. Holly, Gabe, Marc, Julian, and Reece were total rock stars in this book. They kicked all kinds of ass and had no time for names! There was a moment towards the end that had me crying again, like a big ass baby, but it was happy mushy tears.

It was a moment between Julian and Marc
I got Joaquin's book from Netgalley and I can't wait to read his story, but I found myself becoming interest in two secondary characters. They were just in the background in the last few books, but in this one I found myself really hoping that Pamela Clare gives them a book. Matt Harker and Tower both caught my eye. I would love to see sweet Matt who offered his life for Sophie and Tower who has been pulling strings and putting his ass on the line to help out, find love. What a great book!

*********Update**************************************************

I just seen on Pamela Clare's blog that Matt and Tower are going to get their own books. Alex will also get a book. Matt's will be a I-Team book and she is starting a new spin off series about Cobra International Solutions giving Tower his book and giving us more time with Holly and Nick! So excited! here is the blog link if you want to read the full post

Wow! What a great "novella". I use quotes because this was only a novella in the technical sense. It's very long and very complete.

What can I say? What. Can. I. Say? I was on the edge of my seat for much of this book. The suspense was overwhelming. I cried at parts, the emotion was spot on. And I laughed too. What a complete reading experience.

In 2014, Pamela Clare fought breast cancer and wasn't able to write at all. That's a tough thing when writing is your sole income. But in 2015 she's come roaring back with a fantastic novel -- Seduction Game -- and this spectacular novella right on its heels. Her creative mojo is off-the-charts and she does this (too often disappointing) genre proud.

This is how romantic suspense is done, folks. Inner monologues to a minimum. Naughty thoughts in the midst of trauma to a minimum. Plot and action that are layered in organically with confidence in the details. Female characters that are specific, accessible, competent, and as feminine as their traits and personalities warrant. Male characters that are alpha, hot-headed, highly trained in violence and unafraid (unashamed) to use it when appropriate, yet emotionally secure. Dream women and men.

This is a novella that catches up with all the couples (and some side characters) that have been featured in the prior novels. Often when an author revisits HEA couples, they contrive a reason for them to break up or something similarly stupid. Contrive being the operative word. This book gives actual time and story to all the couples: Reece and Kara, Julian and Tessa, Marc and Sophie, Gabe and Kat, Zach and Natalie, Javier and Laura, Nick and Holly, Nate and Megan, and Jack and Janet. And yet, the story didn't bog down with all that attention. The plot is outside of the relationships. It's something they have to bind together to overcome. THIS is far more satisfying than someone suddenly getting a huge bug up their butt and behaving out-of-character so they can have a relationship-destroying fight. Ugh. If I never see another one of those it'll be too soon. bleh photo tongue.png

The story takes us to a Christmas party where some uninvited guests cause very serious and even deadly problems. It's a well constructed plot with action happening in a believable and necessary way. No shoehorned elements to try to give all those characters a spotlight, they all have an actual and believable part to play.

Anyhoo, this is an author any fan of romantic suspense MUST try.

PS: Just remember ... Gabe is MINE.

PPS: I'm not kidding.

PPPS: Seriously, hands off, bitches.

Pamela Clare writes Romantic Suspense the way I wish all authors could and would, which is why she continues to be my favorite in the genre, hands down. But on that note, another RS author I adore is Kaylea Cross, so when I learned that her FBI Hostage Rescue Team badass hotties would be teaming up with the I-Team's equally badass hotties, I found myself deep in the throes of a bookgasm!

The title, Dead by Midnight, might not sound like your typical holiday story, but that's fitting because it isn't your typical holiday story. It's gritty, terrifying, poignant, romantic, and sexy. Honest to God, start to finish this is edge of your seat, nail biting action and 'where the hell is BOB when I need him?’ passion! There isn't a second of ‘filler’, not one word we could do without, not a single scene that isn't needed. It doesn't get better than this because Dead by Midnight, my friends, is storytelling perfection!

During the first half of this book, I had thought of many things I wanted to say, but by the time I finished it, I was literally lost for words. I felt so overwhelmed with everything that happened in the story. This book gave me much more than what I expected. Yes, life is too short! You should spend as much time as possible with your loved ones, be there for them, take care of them, and make sure they know how much you love them. You should open your heart and experience everything life can offer—love, joy, peace, beauty, hope, gratitude, kindness, and much more!

The story itself grabbed my attention from the very start and kept my interest until the last page. I became emotionally invested in the story and the characters. As a fan of this series, I was so happy to see these familiar characters again in this book (but I felt so sorry for what had happened to them). It should be a happy Christmas party but without warning, the bad guys came out of nowhere, crashed the party, and held hundreds of guests hostage. The story was so intense that it kept me turning page after page in anticipation of what would happen next. There were several heart-stopping moments that kept me on the edge of my seat, and there were also many emotional and heart-wrenching moments that made me cry my eyes out.

That’s what Julian thought. The man had no idea what it was like to love a woman more than he loved himself, to be bound to her body and soul, to see her in his children’s faces, to know down to his bones that she was the axis of his world.

This made my tears spill out of my eyes like fountains! It hit me square in the middle of my heart! Oh yes, women want to be loved like this!

I lost count of how many times I cried while reading this book. I've had puffy eyes but I don't care. It's worth every tear I had shed!

I loved that there were very strong bonds between these characters, and somehow I felt like they seem more like family than friends. I loved these action-packed fight scenes, my heart was racing like crazy while reading them. The sex scenes were hot, beautiful, sexy, full of love, and tons of passion. Pamela Clare did a great job writing this wonderful novella, a perfect combination of sizzling romance and breathtaking suspense. This is absolutely one of the greatest romantic suspense books I’ve ever read.

“You always bring me back. No matter what happens, you bring me back. You make me feel clean again. You know what that is?”
Of course, she did.
“It’s love.” She was so very sleepy.
“It’s a miracle.”

I loved, loved, loved, loved, loved it!!!

Dead By Midnight: An I-Team Christmas (I-Team #7.5) by Pamela Clare was the perfect rap to this series! It had all of our favorite characters from the previous books and even had some character crossover from Kaylea Cross’ FBI HRT series. Longer than a novella, but shorter than a novel this is not a standalone.

Two Christmas parties have members and friends of the I-Team at parties in an historic Downtown Denver hotel when it is taken over by Columbian terrorists. From this point on, the plot proceeds at breakneck pace and you don’t know who will survive. My emotions where all over the place because I have come to love all these characters. I really can’t give anything away, but it has all the action, hot sex and emotions we have come to expect from an I-Team book. I am very sad to see the end of these friends' stories, but I am also looking forward to more from this author. Bravo!

Thank you so much to Pamela Clare and Net Galley for allowing me to read this ebook for free in exchange for an honest review. It was a great finale!

This is how you finish a series! Take all your characters from a series, put most of them in peril in one location, and let them use all their smarts/courage to figure their way out of one giant, stress-filled, 5-hour nail-biting scenario. Wow! PC pulled out all the stops in this one...AND she managed to give most of our couples some pretty steamy sex scenes to boot! Now how did she accomplish that? I feel like this was a love letter to all her readers who absolutely adore this I-Team series. Some major suspense in this one, and some stand-out heroics as well (I'm looking at you Gabe, Marc, and Holly! Bravo! 5 stars

Reece and Kara Sheridan are attending a holiday party at the Palace Hotel for a foreign ambassador while the I-Team journalists at the Denver Independent are having their party at the same hotel. When Holly Andris inadvertently sees a hotel server packing an AK-47, she gets into action.

What a way to end a series! I opted to wait until the audiobook was released and that was the best decision. Kaleo Griffith was just perfect in his performance of a really great story. All of the main characters are either trapped in the hotel or are working to get the others out. No gratuitous appearances here as each has a major role.

While this isn’t your traditional holiday story, it’s romantic suspense at its best. I loved everything about it as the suspense and action never ceased until the end. I couldn’t have asked for better of one of the most outstanding series in this genre. Kudos to Clare for writing it and having the wisdom to wait for Griffith to do it justice.

Pamela Clare redefines my view of unputdownable!

The I-Team crew have found themselves doing some pre-Christmas celebrating at the same hotel. Kat and Gave Rossiter checked in before the newspaper’s party to get some alone time. Sophie has tempted Marc into later finding an isolated place of their own, Kara and Reece are attending the annual British Consulate General’s party. They’re all there for a few hours of entertaining but a malicious group of radicals have different plans for the hotel’s guests.

No sooner had their night started when in the blink of an eye situation turns deadly. And while the quick action of Holly, Marc and the gang helps some escape and throws a wrench in the terrorist’s plans, they’re definitely in grave danger and running out of time.

While their friends and loved ones are inside, some held at gunpoint some trying to help out, Darcangelo, McBride and Nick Andris will do whatever they can to help the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team to save the hostages.

This story blew me away and reminded me just how much I love Pamela Clare’s writing. Dead by Midnight is sexy, sweet, touching and thrillingly explosive. It’s a seat at the edge of your seat, heart stopping story without respite from one moment to the next. I enjoyed every single moment from beginning to end. The storytelling is so good that I felt as if I was watching a suspense movie unfold right in front of my eyes. Having it be told from various points of view, including the bad guy’s, gives the reader a thorough and detailed description making it very exciting. It could hardly be considered a novella.

I really liked catching up with all of Pamela’s I-Team characters which all skillfully share the spotlight in this well-constructed plot. The girls are smart and feminine and the guys are tough and commanding but also love so deeply, they’re completely swoon worthy. They’ve grown as couples and friends, some expanding their families with little ones. I loved that there were cameos by some interesting men I certainly want to get to know from the FBI Hostage Rescue Team series by Kaylea Cross. They’re certainly going to my to-read list.

Dead by Midnight is novella #7.5 in the I-team series by Pamela Clare. It’s a Christmas novella told from various points of view with a happy ending.

Number 7.5 in the I-Team series by Pamela Clare. The I-Team are at the annual Christmas Party which is in the same hotel that is hosting the British Consulate General's Christmas Party. It's all fun and games until they are taken hostage by the baddies.

I rarely give 5 stars to novellas because I feel they don't develop the story to my satisfaction. Since I have been with this series for years, and I am very familiar with the main characters, I was pleased with how the story took off on page one and never slowed down. There were times when characters and situations were vaguely explained that would help those who are unfamiliar with the series but I highly recommend reading the series first. It was great to revisit all my favorite characters. I absolutely loved it!

Tonight with Laura Nilsson tv show, a Pamela Clare's fan gets interviewed about her latest and apparently last installment of I-team series.

Laura: Tonight, we have chosen a lucky fan of Ms Pamela Clare, her name is Aileene, to talk about her book called, Dead By Midnight - an I-Team Christmas Novella.

*faces Aileene*

I heard you have read all the books in this series. And based on the research we conducted, lots of praises and high ratings have been given by the readers.

Aileene: I have. And yes, her I-team series is very popular.
You give me a book by her and I would want to start reading it right away. Though, with this one, I waited after Christmas holiday. Things with my day to day activities can get extra busy during festive season.

Laura: So, tell me, what was the book about.

Aileene: I don't want to give away significant details as I don't wanna spoil this for everyone who hasn't read it yet.
So as an overview, all of the previous I-Team couples have been showcased here so this is a both reunion and farewell to us, I-Team faithfuls.

Some of our beloved couples were trapped and being held hostages as they have the misfortune to attend 2 different Christmas parties at a hotel that got targeted by a terrorist attack.

Luckily, Julian Darcangelo, Zach McBride, Nick Andris, (Corbray and Tower too) were not amongst them. They worked against the clock and were teamed up with the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team to save the hostages.

And for my personal view.
I don't know how Ms Clare always does it. I don't know how she can always capture all the strong emotions a person can feel: love, hatred, friendship, lust, victory, desperation and sadness. I felt all these, you see. I was a giant ball of emotional mess whilst and after reading this. And I really don't know how she managed to craft all this in a novella that made sense and gave a perfect ending for this series.
And to be honest? With all that has happened and to read different POVs, including the bad guy’s which gave me a thorough and detailed description of every angle of the story - I could hardly consider this a novella.

Laura: Who was / were your favourite characters / couples?

Aileene: *grins* I so have the hots for Marc Hunter And of course, Holly. Our beautiful but deadly Holly. She's beauty, brains and brave - all packed in this one beautiful character.

I think Ms Clare had written this novella for me *grins wickedly* because she made Marc Hunter and Holly the main star - my two adored characters.

Laura: With what you have said I don't think there is anything that didn't sit well with you. Or... is there?

Aileene: Oh yes.

*camera focuses on Laura's shocked face*

Aileene: *clears throat*
2 things actually, mainly spelling errors. DICKson was incorrectly spelled to Dixon.
And this one had certainly ruffled my feathers because even from previous installments my name was spelt wrong.
It's Aileene. A I L E E N E NOT Sophie.
Pls GET IT RIGHT!
It's infuriating ESP when Marc calls me. How would you feel if everyone calls you by the wrong name? It's unacceptable.

Whilst I was happy that I have finally read this and touched base on my favourite I-Team couples at the same time, I was saddened to learn that this was indeed the "last hurrah" of the series. I was hoping that Ms Clare will introduce more characters but alas, didn't happen.
She has a new series instore for us though and that's very exciting. Something to look forward to. Also, Cross's HRT series had caught my attention. Will definitely check 'em out.

And last but not the least, thank you Ms Clare for this series. It was one hell of a ride! And for liking my status updates. You don't know how that thrilled me to no end.

I was just about to scream LAST BOOK and write a soppy, farewell review about finally finishing this series. And then I just checked and it’s actually not the last book LOL.
Anyway, this book still managed to finish in a sentimental note as we saw all the characters from the previous books. There were honestly some crazy-fuckin’ moments. Some scary moments that gave me the chills. Some moments that got me emotional. It was great to see all the characters come together again, and literally survive a night of horrors together.

I, in particular, have always loved Kat&Gabe and Sophie&Hunter, so it was great to see them again. They actually had the more emotional arcs too.

The surprising arc for me was Holly&Nick’s. I seriously, seriously have to appreciate Holly for kicking ass.

Anyway, this book was great. I honestly started off not caring for this series at all but at this point, after 7.5 books, I feel invested in these characters. All of them had gone through shit, and it’s nice to see them at this more peaceful place now. 4 stars

HoHoHo – the I-Team gang is back together for a Christmas celebration! But hold on tight because Pamela Clare is taking hostages and holding them spellbound with her holiday novella. And there’s an extra surprise tucked away inside with the cross-over appearance by Kaylea Cross’s Hostage Rescue Team.

Plenty of action always follows the I-Team wherever they go, and there’s no time off during the holiday season either. It’s a wild ride with plenty of powerful action from our favorites when they are caught up in a dangerous scheme led by a group of deadly radicals. Working side by side, friends and lovers are prepared to do whatever it takes to bring this situation under control and safely to an end.

Pamela Clare packs more punch in a novella than one can expect. There’s no holding back. Readers will be more than thrilled to find all their favorite characters equally sharing the spotlight, along with a completely mesmerizing and gripping storyline from beginning to end.

Happy Holidays to one and all!

I rarely give novellas a 5 on account of them being so short but this one deserves it. I'm so happy to be reunited with all the characters, despite them being under unpleasant circumstances. The story is fast-paced, action-packed, and it has a LOT of nail-biting moments. I cried a lot too at the last 20%? 10%? because INTENSE OKAY I AM TOO FRAGILE FOR THIS TYPE OF TENSION

So grateful to Jae for pushing me to read these books. It's definitely in my ultimate fav romance series list.

OH MY! This was so good, I actually read it twice. All of the I-Team is present. No new love match-ups, but lots of sexy times with all the previous couples. Lots of drama and action as they tackle a bad guy. Alex and Matt have redeemed themselves, and I might actually want them to now get their own HEAs.

This book is a bunch of couples from other books that just happen to end up in the same nightmare. It reminded me of Die Hard times ten.

I haven’t read all the books that featured the various couples, so it was just a tad overwhelming in the beginning. However, that was quickly replaced by white knuckle, edge of your seat adrenaline as the events started to unfold. Yikes. Lots going on and I devoured this book eagerly anticipating what was next.

This book is packed with badass men and women who aren’t afraid to put it all on the line to save the day.

After reading this, I’m definitely going to go back and check out not only other books by this author, but I need to pick up the Kaylea Cross Hostage Rescue series and check out those alpha males too.

And…..just had to share this quote: 😀

I absolutely loved this novella. It didn’t even read like a novella, which just shows how talented Pamela Clare is.

The I-Team is one of my favorite RS series’, and I just loved spending time with all the characters that I adore. And of course the action was as masterfully done as always.

I just love how Pamela Clare writes: the suspense is always edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting captivating; the heroes so very hawt and take charge; the heroines sweet and kick-ass; and the romance so very panty-melting and sexy. And even though this novella featured all the characters from this series as they fought for their lives and for their loved ones, we got to spend time with each couple alone as well, which was just fantastic. This novella just made me want to reread this entire series again!

A must read for everyone who loves this series. And for those who have not yet read this series, but loves hot and sexy romance with great suspense, I highly recommend reading this series! You will not be disappointed.

It's the holidays and the members of the I-team are celebrating at their annual newspaper Christmas party at a downtown Denver hotel. Across the hall is a reception for the British Ambassador. Guests include the U.S. Secretary of State and the Lt. Governor. Suddenly shots are fired and the partiers are being held by a group of terrorists.

I usually don't like reunion books where past characters from the series make an appearance and show us how happy they are. This one is different. Yes, they're happy, but they actually have something to do in this book. While half of the characters are being held at gunpoint, the other half are working to get them out alive. I couldn't put it down. What a great way to end the series! My rating: 5 Stars.

My favorite genre to read is romantic suspense. I have read each and every I-Team novel and listened to them on audio. They never disappoint.

This story is a rollercoaster ride that starts quickly at what is supposed to be a boring Christmas party at a glorious Denver hotel, and turns into a nightmare. Ms. Clare takes us through every harrowing turn and dip. There is violence, cruelty and even death, but the biggest message in all her novels is loyalty, honor, family and love. Through this terrible night, there is strong bonds holding this little group of people together. The love of husband and wife, precious friends and the promise of being there for each other. I cried, gasped and thought my heart stopped for a minute. The only disappointing thing about this hot, action packed novel? It's the end of the I-Team stories. I can't wait to see what Pamela Clare brings us next.....but someday I hope the I-Team is back. Five Stars is not enough.

Totalmente recomendable.

I am impressed at how entertaining this not so fun holiday party of the I-team turned out to be.
It started off fancy, a Christmas party at a hotel and quickly turned into most of the team being held as hostages.

The story was action packed, typical teamwork, loyalty and support. And of course you can't have a Pamela Clare novel without a good number of sex scenes. It was well written and Kaleo Griffith did a great job as the narrator.

I still don't buy Holly as this kick ass operative after 6 books of being a ditzy airhead, but the author is clearly trying to sell it. I can accept that she is resourceful, not as super spy Nikita.

The main difference with this novel was it wasn't built around an undercover assignment necessary for the paper. I liked it eve more than the last couple of books. A great addition to this series.

Pretty good for an action plot.

This reminded me of the first Bruce Willis Die Hard movie. Terrorists take over a hotel holding guests hostage. A cop who was in the hotel as a party guest sneaks around causing trouble for the terrorists. Others do heroic things as well.

The ending went a little overboard with excessive talk about families, babies, barbecues, and thanking everyone.

AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR:
Kaleo Griffith was excellent doing general narration and male voices. But he needs to learn how to do women better. His voices for women were weird and strange. Other male narrators do women better.

Narrative mode: 3rd person (my fav).
