YES. This had the WOW-ING, EXTRAMILE, MIND-BEING-BLOWN, and the whole SHA-BANG. I can honestly say it had me captivated with every page. It was short but like the first book it worked! Meghan March does a really good job with the structure of her stories without it being "too slow" or "too fast". QUALITY over QUANTITY (#ForTheWin). Now back to the actual story .. BRILLIANT, GENIUS, and I could go on. I loved Van's whole "I'm a f*cking lady" attitude and rather than going the easy (in essence) way she makes "a deal with a devil". I admire her for going after what she wants and good for her for not letting pride get in the way. As for the leading man.. Con .. Constantine .. Mr. Leahy .. BE MY LEADING MAN! This guy MAN is one of my top BOOKHUSBANDS! I LOVE THIS GUY. He's all alpha male however it balances out because he RESPECTS his Princess. I loved their banter, their chemistry, and their story.

4 Second Chance Stars.

description

In a sexy and sweet “rich girl trying to prove himself” meets “bad boy with some ghosts and a nice heart”, this second chance romance brings us the re-encounter of Con and Vanessa, two years after of a failed connection. This book was a nice surprise. For full disclosure I didn’t like it as much as much as the first in the series, but it was still a very enjoyable reading.
A little slow in the beginning, but with an engaging pace after, quite well written and steamy, this was a refreshing romance in a pleasantly surprising series. Very realistic characters, a nice background story with just enough drama and angst to keep us on our toes, and with an intriguing mystery that actually surprised me at the end.
Definitely, books to keep on reading!

My Thoughts - Story
There were so many things about this book, I enjoyed. I loved how the author incorporated a mystery within a romance.  I also was so surprised I didn’t guess who the “bad guy” ended up to be. Now that more than anything else through me for a loop. I enjoyed the characters when we got further into the story.

At first, I honestly thought I wasn’t going to like the characters, especially Vanessa. She annoyed me at first with her “so-called” problems but she redeemed herself in no time and was easy to connect with.

Re-Cap
Vanessa needs a piece of land – Con has this land.

Vanessa is a rich socialite – Con is a tattooed bad boy.

They had one night in a drunken stupor and Vanessa ran away.

Con doesn’t do relationships and Vanessa needs to marry the right man to take over the family business.

What happens when Con makes a deal for Vanessa to get this land?

Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💚🖤💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😳🤬😏🤓

The heroine: Vanessa Frost (a.k.a. Van) - Society girl and friends with Simon Duchesne from Beneath This Ink. Her and Simon would go to events together to keep her father off her back since she had feelings for someone her father wouldn’t approve of.

The Hero(s): Constantine Leahy (a.k.a. Con) - he was introduced in Beneath This Mask as Charlotte’s boss and friend with benefits. He was protective of Charlie and a great friend. He owns the Tattoo shop Charlie works at and a few other businesses.

The Story: Vanessa works at the L.R. Bennett foundation and needs the help of Con, whom she had a one night stand with a few years ago. Van is best friends with Elle, whom she works with and tries to help her by suggesting she go to Constantine to try to get a property of his to use for a project she is working on in order to keep her job.

I liked Vanessa a lot. She can’t get her night with Con out of her mind but knows that he is the one and done type of guy. Vanessa has some hang ups after growing up in society as a chubby child and all the comments she used to overhear about her weight. At one point she stopped eating anything but vegetables and while in high school she grew over 5 inches in one year, changing from a short chubby girl to a tall willowy woman. She was upset that her mother passed away before seeing her changes.

Constantine is a great character as well. He is much more than the tattooed bad boy Vanessa initially thinks he is. We as readers know that from Beneath This Mask. But Vanessa learns this as she gets to know him more. He runs a boxing gym and program for troubled youths in New Orleans and feeds them every day, all on his own dime. He has never been able to get Vanessa off his mind but thinks she is too good for him. When he heard from Simon that Van has feelings for someone her father wouldn’t approve of, he can’t help but wonder if that is him.

The narration on this was stellar. I love Andi Arndt’s voice for the heroine, she sounds intelligent, yet young and her voice works very well for a classy Nola debutante. Sebastian York is also one of my favorite narrators with his deep gravely voice he is perfect for the Tattooed bad boy with a good heart.

I am really liking this series, it is interconnected books with each having a romance for a different couple but crossovers between books, I read book three prior to this one, since I am getting the audiobooks on my Libby app from the library, they are not always available in order, and these types of series work well even if you are reading them out of order.

“I never hated you. Just didn’t want to want you so bad. And now I don’t care—because you’re mine.”

Con and Vanessa shared one night together, two years ago. But all Con can remember is the morning after when Vanessa tried sneak out of his bed. After exchanging some not so pleasant words they both went their separate ways, but Con never forgot Vanessa or the fact that she was way too good for someone like him.

Now, Vanessa is back on his doorstep but this time asking for a favor. Con decides that he's finally going to see where the chemistry between them goes and tells Vanessa that the only way he'll help is if se gives him a shot. Going on under the radar dates, so that no one will see the princess with the tattooed bad boy, they start a complicated relationship that has an expiration date. But when Vanessa gets caught up in a twisted game of blackmail, will that expiration date be sooner than either of them thought?

This book was an amazing follow up from the first book in the series. Though it is part of a series, the book can be read as a standalone. I loved Con and his rough around the edges way of solving his issues. The story was actually completely different than what I was expecting but I loved it more than I thought I would. I was nervous to start a book about a rich princess and a bad boy because that's not my favorite thing but this blew my mind.

Con interested me since I met him in the first book, which is why I had to read his story right away. I loved his character and how tough he was but sweet at the same time. He was adopted into a rich family but never quite fit in with that society so he left and joined the military. When he got back his adoptive parents were killed, which he blames himself for so he will do anything to track down the person responsible even after years of no leads. Con had money left to him but he never let it change him, and instead uses his money to help keep kids off the streets and out of trouble. It was great the way his character was kind of in two worlds at one time and the mix of privileged and not made this an even more interesting book.

Vanessa wasn't the rich bitch I thought she would be and she actually cared about giving back to the community. I liked that she wanted to help better the community and that we got to see the not so perfect side to her world. Her and Con made the perfect couple of soft vs. hard and complimented each other really well. Van had a complicated relationship with her father and I actually wanted to see that play out differently in the end. I didn't understand the back and forth of her father being overly critical to him wanting her safe and cared for.

Bottom line, this was a great addition to this series. We were introduced to more characters and I am dying to get their story. Still enjoying this series, so on to the next one!

I really enjoyed this book!It has a bit of everything two great characters, funny, kind of mystery, dual pov and of course some hot and dirty sex!I loved Con and Vanessa because they were so different but that didn't stop them from falling in love and trying to make their relationship work...
They both had their issues and insecurities that kept them from being happy...They were attracted to each other for a long time and now was their shot to have what they really wanted...

"In this shop, the only way a woman gets my time is if she's getting a tattoo,or is o her knees or her back"

I liked their interactions and the way they tried to keep their attraction under control BUT failing miserable....because let me tell you they were all over each other...with some hot, dirty sex...

description

But they had some sweet moments because they fell hard for each other...
and couldn't live without each other...

"You need to stop carrying me everywhere.I'm too heavy."
"Shut up.You're fucking perfect."

description
"Hold on to me princess.I need to know you're with me."
description
"Baby you scared the hell out of me tonight.I could've lost you.
Right now is not a good time to ask me to let you out of my sight.
I can't do it.I need you next to me so I know you're safe."

"So if you're waiting for my answer:I ain't done with you.I'll never be done with you.If you'd hated me for what I'd done, I would've found a way to change your mind.Because you're mine, and I'm yours-and I'm never letting you go."

"It's a good thing you're not done with me, because it would've been really awkward when I handcuffed myself to your bed and told you I wasn't going anywhere."

Enjoy!xxx

(Lots of) Spoilers ahead because I'm going to save you from reading this book.

You’ll thank me.

So, I felt that in order to do a proper review of this book I needed to channel the voices I heard inside my head while reading it.

As such, playing the part of Vanessa is:

Playing the part of Con is:

And rounding out the cast of main characters is Lucas, played by:

So using the above as your guide, this is how the story goes:

Vanessa: "Con, you are the sexiest man alive! You make my loins tremble. But I can't be with you because you're a tattooed bad boy, manwhore and my daddy already hates you."

Con: "I know we can't be together because I'm a tattooed bad boy, manwhore, and your daddy hates me. Besides, I'm damaged because I think I'm responsible for my rich adoptive parents' deaths but I've been lusting after you since Jesus was a tadpole."

Vanessa: *Swoon* "You're so hot, Con. Will you give me the deed to your warehouse to save my job at my dead mom's foundation?"

Con: "Only if you fake date me in secret."

Vanessa: "You're an asshole. I hate you. Okay, I'll fake date you."

Lucas: "Vanessa, I know you're fake dating Con and I'm going to expose you, unless you agree to fake date me too. Only, you can't tell a soul."

Vanessa: "You're an asshole, I hate you. Okay, I'll fake date you."

Con: "Why is Lucas touching you? Oh, and I think I may have new evidence on who killed my parents. I'm going to kill them."

Vanessa: "Stop telling me what to do. It's business. You're so hot."

Con: "Stop being a stuck up bitch."

Vanessa: "I'm not, I'm damaged too. I'm borderline anorexic because of my awful mother who's foundation I'm trying to run. STOP JUDGING me!!"

Con: "You're so hot."

Vanessa: "You're hotter."

Lucas: "It's time for another fake date."

Vanessa: "I hate you! Do I look fat in this dress? I'll just have the salad please."

BANG! BANG! Insert dramatic scene that adds nothing to the story except we need a catalyst to advance the relationship.

Vanessa: "I almost died! ACK!"

Con: "I'll find them and kill them. Your skinned knees will be avenged!"

Vanessa: "I know the kid you're mentoring got shot while saving my life, but let's have sex!"

Con: "You finally want my pierced magic penis?"

Vanessa: "Yes! I want your pierced magic penis. Only, can you turn off the lights? Body issues, remember?"

Magic Penis - Magic Penis - Magic Penis - Magic C@ck - Magic Penis.

Vanessa: "I'm falling in love with you but you're still a bad boy and my daddy still really, really hates you."

Con: "I'm falling in love with you, too, but you're too good for me. Plus, I'm going to avenge your skinned knees and my parents' deaths which means we can't be together."

Lucas: "I need another fake date."

Vanessa: "You're the worst human ever! I hate you so much! Can you please get me a gin and tonic?"

Lucas: "I've decided I don't want to be a scumbag anymore. So, I'm going to uncover a huge twist and do the honorable thing (for once) and bring down the shady foundation who was run by your dead mom who turned you into an anorexic and which was the sole reason you got with Con in the first place. Plus, I'm going to expose who killed Con's parents. But don't worry, I will never reveal to you why I was such an @sshole to you this whole time!"

Vanessa: "You're my hero! Oh, but wait, I have to tell Con before we go to the police, otherwise we'll ruin the big dramatic ending!"

Lucas: "You're right, even though we know he's going to kill the evil villain, we can't disappoint the kids, we have to tell him first."

Vanessa: "Con, I know you're going to hate me... erm... oh, I can't do it, Lucas you tell him."

Lucas: "Con, I know who killed your parents and it all ties to the foundation Vanessa has been trying to run for her dead mother who made her an anorexic and the only reason she approached you in the first place."

Con: "RAWR!"

Gets gun and storms off to kill villain.

Vanessa: "No, stop, our love can make miracles! Let it heal you."

Con: "RAWR!"

Lucas: "I wish I had a woman like Vanessa."

Con: "RAWR!"

Vanessa: "I'm so glad you didn't kill the villain and to reward you, I'm going to take you home to my daddy who still really hates you."

Con: "Our love can make miracles."

Vanessa: "Daddy, this is Con who I struggled with dating the entire book because I know how much you really hate him."

Daddy: "I can't believe you would disgrace this family by bringing him here. Con, my daughter is an idiot if she thinks I'll ever accept you!"

Con: "Don't you dare disrespect my woman, she may be an idiot but she's my idiot. RAWR!"

Daddy: "Son, you've earned my respect. Call me dad."

Vanessa: "I'm preggers!"

There, I just spared you reading the book. You're welcome.

I think what destroyed this read for me is the clinical nature the author used in writing this. I know she’s a former lawyer and this felt very much like an attorney relaying the interesting elements of a case. The writing was fluid but in a way one would expect in a closing statement. I’m still curious to know if this could improve as there’s promise there, but I’m fatigued and need a break for now. I’ll sort my interest at another time. For now, I’m moving onto another author.

Fun sexy, tattooed guy with a harley meets upper crust society woman. he judges her wrong she judges him wrong, sparks fly, tempers flare, and there are plenty of disapproving glares. He is a two hander with extra bits and knows how to swing it. He has what is called a magic penis

While I was reading Beneath this Mask, the first book of this series, I found myself really drawn to Constantine. And maybe a little bit rooting for him, which is probably not cool in terms of female solidarity since during the book he was a slut and a half.

description

Yes I know, but I am a sucker for a bad boy with a dirty mouth and tattoos! Case in point Con Leahy:

description

The quintessential bad boy with a chip on his shoulder and a craving for untouchable Vanessa Frost. Two years ago he finally had her in his bed but he was so drunk he can't remember much and that is eating him up inside. She shows up unexpectedly at his shop needing a favour from him.

You begin this book with false impressions for both of them. The manwhore and the frosty socialite. I was glad to read more of them as more dimensional characters rather than the stereotype they initially portrayed. Con is full of anger and resentment that fuels and colours all his interactions with her. As they get to know each other under the surface so do you. I was already rooting for Con so it was no surprise that I kept at it throughout the book. He was bossy with a potty mouth and a penchant for pushing Vanessas buttons until he pushed too far.

"Her knee shot up and caught me unaware. I stumbled back a step, grunting, and bent over as the sick feeling in my gut twisted. “Fuck, woman. Did you have to crush my balls?”
She must have lowered her head because I could feel her breath on my ear when she spoke. “One, don’t ever talk to me like that again. I’m a fucking lady.[..]."

description

"Men. Assholes. Every last one of them."

“It’s not you—”
“You’ve said that. It’s not me. Well, I’m the only other person up here, so if it’s not me, then who the hell is it you’re running from?”
“Me! Don’t you get it? It’s not always about you! This is all too much.”

description

Initially I thought Vanessa was a stuck up socialite with her fake smile screwed on tight taking care not to ruin her reputation. I dislike people that put so much stock on reputation and what people think or say. I didn't like her much until I got her POV and saw what made her tick. After the second chapter with her POV I really liked her. And by the end of the book I forgave her for initial "snobbishness".

I loved reading their story. It had a few surprises regarding their pasts that I enjoyed and a major twist at the end that I didn't guess(the reason for the 5stars). As for the sexy times?

“We all see what we want to see…”

pizap com14224382984651

Beneath this Ink was another great story from the wonderful Meghan March!!

“I never hated you. Just didn’t want to want you so bad. And now I don’t care—because you’re mine.”

Growing up as a Foster kid, Constantine “Con” Leahy has always felt that perfect “it” girl, Vanessa Frost, was totally out of his league.

quotescover JPG 29

Always watching her from the shadows, one night magical night from the ‘wrong side of the tracks’ changes everything. And yet, he does not remember a single second of it. But she does!

“We were like oil and water. Although that night, to be cliché, we’d been like fire and water.”

Fast forward two years, and when Vanessa pops into his tattoo shop and propositions a business deal that could be his only opportunity-- Con sees it as his last chance to claim what has always been his.

From there on, it’s tough and go and one hell of a mixture of fiery chemistry with both characters learning something new about one another and peeling back the façade, preconceived notions both have always kept about each other and from the world.

quotescover JPG 79

But, as social castes come into the mix, dark vengeful motives and secrets surface... as well as Con’s and Vanessa’s gnawing insecurities paving the way…what will become of this unlikely couple? Can they succumb the tumultuous tests that are about to come their way? Can Vanessa prove herself and gather the courage to take the plunge despite the opposition of what society thinks? Can Con rise above the darkness that plagues his heart?

quotescover JPG 73

And most importantly, can Con and Vanessa see beneath the scars and hurts and give into something that is real? Read and you will find out!

#A great follow up to this dynamic series! Was nice to see an appearance from Charlie and Simon again! *does a happy dance*

I hope Lord, Trey, and maybe Elle will get their own stories!! Maybe Lord and Elle together?! I think they’d be really cute together!

Thank you Meghan for sending me the shout-out about this book’s blog tour and review opportunity!! I really appreciate you and am in love with your engaging stories and intriguing characters!♥

Hugs and kisses,

Slick's review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

As soon as I finished this book I wanted to go back and re-read the first book and then this one again because it is so easy to get wrapped up in these stories. Beneath This Ink runs somewhat simultaneous with the first book in this series, Beneath This Mask; some scenes overlap but they are not redundant in the least; they only give the reader a little bit more insight into the situation at hand. Having said that, you do not need to read BTM in order to read this book but I think that once you read this one you will probably feel the need to go back and read the first one. Complex, emotional, and sensual with a side of down and gritty sex, Beneath This Ink was impossible to put down and another fantastic offering from up and coming author Meghan March.

I knew there was more to Constantine (Con) Leahy when he was introduced in book one but honestly, I had no idea how many layers there were to him and all of those layers make up one amazing individual. From a childhood no one should be forced to endure, to an adolescence he never was sure he deserved, to the time he spent serving our country, to the incident that changed his life forever Con is on a mission to see justice served and will do anything to make sure it happens. I can't even begin to express everything I felt for the things that happened in Con's life nor can I understand why he believes he isn't good enough for the woman he spent one night with 2 years ago; a night he doesn't remember with the woman he's wanted since his teens. There wasn't one thing I didn't love about this hero other than the fact that he felt inferior to some people which considering everything he had accomplished and everything he does for others is just crazy.

We caught small glimpses of Vanessa (Van/Princess) Frost in the first book and to be honest at the start of this one I really wasn't sure how well I was going to like her, but as time went on it became apparent that he was kind of trapped in her life and was scared of going after what she wanted for fear of losing everything. On the outside it seems like she has everything; money, status in the community, prestige but in reality she has been living with a shame for most of her life and it has affected her greatly. On the cusp of finally being able to run the foundation that meant so much to her late mother, Vanessa needs one thing and she needs it from the one man she desperately wants even though she knows she can't have him.

These two have a very complicated relationship from the start and I hate to even call it that given that Con basically blackmailed Vanessa into seeing him and while she claimed to be disgusted by it her actions quickly proved she was anything but. I loved the intensity between them; it was obvious how much they wanted one another even when they were trying to stay apart. I was completely entranced by the way these two fell for one another and by the fact that they both had wanted each other from a far for so long and the sex...omg the sex, whew...pass me a cigarette please! Con is this dirty talking, bike riding, smoking hot ex-Army Ranger, from the wrong side of the tracks and Vanessa is this buttoned up society princess but when they are together those lines are blurred and the more they are together we begin to see the real Con and the real Van and together they are flippin' spectacular.

There's a little bit of mystery and some suspense in this story which only serves to further the plot line and make the book that much more engaging. We are introduced to some new characters both of whom intrigue me greatly and we get a chance to see a little of Charlie and Simon from the first book was well.

Author Meghan March was one of my great finds last year as a new author and she only gets better with each book; she continues to impress me with the way she crafts her stories weaving all the pieces together into one extraordinary tale. Beneath This Ink is another fantastic offering from this author and I'll say it again...if you haven't discovered Meghan March for yourself now is the time to start!

Bad Boy ⭐️

How in the world have I not found this Beneath series until now? Funny thing is I rated the first one 5⭐️, but this one is even better! If Beneath This Mask was sort of good guy-falls in love-with-the-bad-girl, Beneath This Ink is your classic bad boy-falls-for-the-good-girl-so-totally-out-of-his-league. I can’t resist that!

“I wasn’t vain, but even I knew that being six-four, covered in tats, and built like a brawler had an effect on the ladies.”

I’m starting to get used to the characters in this series having quick wit banter, or as the author says, “throwing words like grenades”. Alpha men, smart and funny heroines, what more could I wish for? Intriguing plot? Check. Smut? Check, check, check!

“Sweetheart, if I can’t get you in my bed in three weeks, I don’t deserve to call myself a man. And when i get you there, it won’t have jack shit to do with that deed.”

Right now, I definitely love Constantine “Con” Leahy way more than Simon. I’ve also started reading the third book, about Con’s brother, Lord. Let me just tell you, this high dose of testosterone might be fatal. If these books keep getting better and better, how am I going to survive 7!!! of them?

I’m really enjoying Meghan March’s Beneath series. So far the books have been low angst, high steam, and quick reads. Beneath This Ink is the second book in the New Orleans-based series and can be read as a standalone.

Con Leahy is introduced in Beneath This Mask. He’s the owner of Voodoo, a local tattoo parlor. Con seems to be just another built tattooed bad boy. He certainly doesn’t have any business getting tangled up in the sheets with stuck-up socialite Vanessa Frost. The two have a messy history, but Con wants Vanessa to give him a chance at a relationship. Vanessa needs Con’s help to secure the spot as her foundation’s head. If only outside forces would stop interfering, they just might discover there’s more beneath the surface of their appearances than either first thought.

Con is sweet, despite his quick temper, and I love Vanessa’s tell-it-like-it-is attitude. The story dabbles in the area of body image issues, but I think the author missed an opportunity to make an even more impactful statement about today’s image-focused society.

I enjoyed Beneath This Mask more because there was more plot in that book , but this was still an entertaining story and a nice palate cleaner after a heavy read.

Con's story. The tatted bad boy and the society darling. They had one night together years ago, but Con was drunk and can't remember. As the story wears on, each of their lives are revealed a bit more, and they come to realize how similar they are despite their difference in upbringing. I listened to the audio and the narration was great.

I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. This is one of those books that I think really is more enjoyable in audio format largely because of the wonderful pair of narrators. This is the second book in the Beneath series but it can easily be read as a stand alone since it focuses on one pair of characters. This was a really quick and entertaining story that had a lot going for it.

This book focused on Vanessa and Con. Vanessa is a rich girl working at a not for profit who needs something from Con. Con is a tattooed bad boy who is all alpha male. They have known each other since they were in school and even spent one night together a couple of years ago that Con can't remember and Vanessa can't forget. They strike a deal to spend a bit of time together before Con's land changes hands.

I liked Con and Vanessa together. It was evident early on that there was more to each of these characters than the obvious and they seemed to see that in each other. There was a lot of chemistry between the pair from the start that only intensified over the course of the story. There were some pretty hot scenes and some that were more tender.

There were a few things that I found problematic in the story. Vanessa's issue with eating in front of other people vanished really quickly with just a word from Con. If she had as big of an issue as it was made to be, I don't think that she would overcome it as fast as she did. I also wanted to see Vanessa speak up for herself more because she seemed to let everyone push her around. I was able to just go along with these things and enjoy the story despite these minor issues.

I absolutely loved the narration of this audiobook. I have listed to two other books in this series with the same pair of narrators and that is what made me decide to purchase this audiobook. Sebastian York does such a good job at narrating a bad boy with a softer side and Andi Arndt captured Vanessa's personality perfectly. I think that the alternating points of view paired with different narrators really made the book come alive. I plan to listen to both of these narrators again soon.

I would recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. I would definitely recommend picking up the audio in this book if at all possible because I think it adds to the overall experience. I hope to read more from this author soon.

Initial Thoughts
I love this pair of narrators. I know that I liked this book a lot more because I chose to listen to it rather than read the book myself. The story wasn't perfect but I enjoyed it anyway.

I have been hiding this book on my TBR for a while now. When I dug the old list of my TBR, I picked it up. Beneath This Ink by the infamous Miss March. I have hit and miss feeling with Miss March's books. Beneath series intrigue me.

Beneath This Ink took me by surprise. I was not expecting I like it very much. The story of Con and Van, 2 lonely characters hit right off. They come from different social background, different life expectation and yet they explode when they collide. Miss March done a good job simmering their chemistry with a bit of suspense.
I do love the rooftop dating. It was intimate and sweet.

Overall a good book.

Beneath This Ink is the second book in the Beneath Series. I definitely have missed this series and eager to get back to it. In this book we see a story that features such a great couple but boy do they have some sexual tension. Meghan March just never ceases to disappoint even her older stories. I am always impressed with how engaging her writing is and she just always seems to pull me into a story. I didn't even need to read the blurb to know that I would get a fun kick out of this book. And I definitely had a blast with Beneath This Ink.

Con and Vanessa have known each other for each and they once had a one night stand and there has always been a level of sexual tension that vibrates between them. But Vanessa has a dream and her dream is keeping the business in the family. But she is a woman, and the investors aren't very optimistic in letting her run the show. She just needs support, the kind of support she could get from Con. But they come to an agreement, and their agreement soon turns into Con and Vanessa agreeing to a relationship together. But Vanessa is being blackmailed and she needs to find her way out of the situation while protecting Con. But not everything is as it seems and she and Con will need to come together to get to the truth of it all...

Beneath This Ink was a fantastic book and I really fell in love. The first book I remember these characters and the levels of sexual tension that were hinted at. So it was so fun to see these two finally come together and get the background to their story. I really enjoyed so many aspects to this book. But most especially in seeing these characters come together in all the beautiful ways I like to see. They definitely have secrets and their own hurdles to get through but seeing them learn to overcome their challenges was packed with shining moments. This turned into a story that is a magnifier of fighting for those you love and never giving up on that HEA.....a lovely romance that won my heart!

3.5 stars!***

Second book in the series was a bit weaker than the first one. I don't know why, but it took me a lot of time to finally get into the plot. It wasn't boring or anything, it's just that the whole "I-say-I-don't-want-you-but-I-do" is getting bit old. And the "she's-rich-she's-so-much-better-than-me-she-would-never-want-me" is even older. If it's girl saying that I don't mind that much, but if a guy whines all the time about it than it's repulsive and annoying.

Vanessa is a trust fond baby, she's got a lot of money but she's still got some heart and conscience - more than most, actually. She works in a charity and wants to lead it one day. There only one thing left to do until she can achieve her dream. But there are sacrifices to be made.

Con always used to be the guy you don't want to introduce to your parents. Doesn't matter that he was adopted by rich parents, that he was part of the army. When his parent were killed he changed. He's man with a single purpose on his mind - to get back at the one, who did it.

They has spend one night couple of years ago. One that Con doesn't remember, but desperately wants to. So when she comes to ask him for a property she needs for her task, he wants something right back. He wants to be given a chance. A real shot at something with her. But he's not the only one who wants her. There's another player in the game.

There were parts where I could barely stand Vanessa and parts where I wanted to hug her and say "me too, girl". I understand her fears about eating in public. I hate it too and if I had to eat a burger with someone I'm not entirely comfortable I'd rather starve. But I envy Van something. She got thin while I'm in constant fight with my body, gaining weight only by looking at food.

I liked seeing more Con's sides. He's one charming motherfucker. I'd probably swoon too if I was him. Tattooes, motorcycle, muscles.. What's there not to love. Except for the fact that he's (or more acurately used to be) a total manwhore. He got through girls faster than I do with socks.

The chemistry between those two seemed okay, although it was nothing extraordinary. But I have to admit that those two seemed perfect for each other. Opposites attract, right?

The ending was surprising - not the ending ending, but who the culprit was. I certainly did not expect that. And the actual ending ending was sweet, not rushed, forced or overly romantic with hearts pouring out of the page to attack you.

Although I enjoyed this one less than Beneath This Mask I'm looking forward to reading the rest of series.

I loved Beneath the Mask and I was very surprised by the book and well I try to go into things with an open mind doesn’t always work. Beneath the Mask got 4 stars. This book though got a whopping 5 it’s going to get a little rowdy in here.

Oh Ms. March, now why would you do that? I wanted to hate Connor in the first book he was a bit of a douche. And even some of the first lines in the book being ‘I don’t go there twice unless there’s something worth going back for’ mentality and why give a girl false hope when I’d all but forgotten her as soon as I’d slid the condom off my dick? I was still up for Constantine ‘Con’ Leahy. I actually love his character in the book.

Con Leahy was adopted by the rich and the wealthy at the age of 11 years old and always felt as if he never belonged because he did come from the wrong side of the tracks. If the chip on his shoulder hadn’t been big then it certainly would have grown after the death of his adopted parents. After being released from Special Ops he opens a tattoo studio, a pawn shop, and a strip club to find out information about his parents. He spent one hot night with Vanessa and for him it is kind of vague. He remembers snippets but he isn’t sure. Not very nice.

Every rich Southern girl has expectations to live up to with Vanessa Frost it is no different. She has worked for her forefather’s foundation and has always dreamt of running it. She is not the perfect princess everyone thinks she is and she doesn’t have a block of ice for a heart. That is why she wants to do anything possible even if that means going to the one man who you want but can’t have. Vanessa isn’t much better as she does a runna for no real reason as it doesn’t fit in her life plans. She didn’t have anything to prove per se but in the end she gave up her dreams so that the wrongs could be righted.

She wants the deed to a bit of land that Con owns for the foundation. They strike a deal she gives him a shot at something real and she gets the deed. They keep it a secret for the time being. At a fundraiser Lucas Fucking Titan sees them and thinks that Vanessa is slumming. He wanted to use her to his advantage and get in her pants. He blackmails her into public appearances but has to keep it on the down low.

On a personally level I don’t have the best relationship with food and I really understood her. It wasn’t a topic that continues throughout the book and a big issue wasn’t made out of it. Vanessa gets it under control in the book though. The truth comes out, choices are made and the chips fall where they do. I really enjoyed the plot of the story and am really surprised by this author.

For all those ladies out there who need to know if it is safe, he is kind of a man whore there is nothing descriptive or anything with o/w. There is no drama of cheating or being with an o/w. Which for me personally is very refreshing. It is a dual POV which I loved and each character really comes out in each chapter. They had great sexual tension and were both so stubborn at the beginning to admit that they had feelings in fear of getting hurt.
