Everyone knows that if there was an award for biggest small town grump, Liam Ashton would win for Hope Crest, Pennsylvania no questions asked.

The reclusive, brooding farmer might be part of the family business and do anything for those closest to him, but his bark keeps almost everyone else away. Perhaps that’s what happens when you fall in love at first sight but aren’t allowed to be with the soulmate you didn’t realize you were looking for.

When the forbidden woman of his dreams blows back into town, he might finally get a shot to convince her they’re destined to be together. Only, her denials and refusals won’t let him get anywhere near her.

Gabrielle Murphy swore she’d never return to the town where she took her first teaching job. She’d done the right thing, once upon a time, and there is no room to question what if.

But when the only woman who ever understood her passes and leaves her to clean up the pieces, she can’t exactly say no. Get in, fulfill her grandmother’s wishes, and get out. That’s the plan. Until Liam confronts her and they give in to the unmatched inferno that’s been blazing between them forever.

Even though there is nothing standing in the way of a happily ever after this time, Gabrielle still can’t let this surly version of the Liam she once knew love her completely.

Until a surprise binds them to each other for the foreseeable future, and they have to forgive enough to move forward. But just as the ice around their hearts starts to thaw, darker outside forces threaten to ruin their chance before it’s even taken.

Sizzle is a small town second chance romance that gives you a forbidden aspect feel. Twelve years ago Gabrielle was living a very content life being a high school teacher. One conversation with a student changed everything for her and deciding to remove herself from a future temptation, Gabrielle leaves town and doesn't look back. Until now.

Returning to Hope Crest to take care of her grandmother's wishes, the last person Gabrielle expects to see is her former student. It's been twelve years and Liam is now the town's sought after bachelor but the boy that she walked away from all those years ago is now a grumpy farmer with unresolved feelings for her.

love-hate

Liam Ashton has one goal and that's to keep his family’s farm thriving. His family means everything to him so having a successful farm is what keeps him going. His personal life on the other hand, needs a lot of work but when he sees the woman that broke his heart all those years ago, Liam knows that he has one more chance to make everything right.

I loved that this was a small town romance and I really liked most of the characters. My only issue with this one was the fact that the main character was making certain things into a more bigger issue than it was and became quite annoying. I understood the hesitations with some things but they really took it too far for me and it changed my perception of them.

If you're looking for a small town romance with a slight forbidden feel to it, you can give this one a try.

If you’re looking for a small-town romance with a sprinkling of drama and where strong family dynamics are at the heart of everything then you won’t go wrong with Sizzle, the third book in the Ashton Family series of stand-alones and a book that comes with a hint of the forbidden. Liam was the oldest son but to me he had always seemed to be standing on the outside of his family, holding himself apart and the reason why becomes apparent in this book. The nineteen-year-old Liam had fallen in love with his teacher when in his senior year at school and had never really gotten over it even though nothing physical had happened between them. Gabrielle might’ve felt something for Liam but her position as his teacher meant she would never act on those feelings not even when he’d left school and approached her, she had panicked and ran. Even though only three years separated them, her upbringing and innate sense of propriety screamed it was wrong. Years later when Gabrielle returns to Hopecrest to wind up her grandmother’s estate, the moment he saw her again, all of Liam’s feelings return only this time he’s determined to break through her defences and show her how good they could be together, but Gabrielle is still trapped in the whole teacher/student thing and was afraid to be seen in public with Liam adding to the tension. There was a good flow to this story with a hint of danger – those Ashton’s seem to be magnets for trouble but overall, it was relatively angst free. I did feel a bit frustrated with Gabrielle at times who persistently acted like she was doing something wrong and was reluctant to stand up for herself unless it was to push Liam away, then she didn’t have any problems.

Disclaimer: I received this book at no cost from the publisher/author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I am leaving a voluntary review and all opinions are my own.

This is such a compelling forbidden love story that is chock full of feels. There is an element of unrequited love steering the story that turns out to be not so unrequited. There was so much push and pull in this book and I was intensely glued to the pages.

Sizzle has:
- An intriguing and addicting plot that will hook you and keep you engaged in the story.
- A convincing forbidden romance.
- So much simmering angst.
- Relatable characters that you can't help but root for.
- Honest storytelling that resonates with the reader.
- A gruff and determined MMC who is a sweetheart at his core.
- A surprise pregnancy trope!
- Vivid world-building that transplants the reader into the story.
- A turbulent but satisfying romantic journey.
- A perfectly balanced writing style that I connected with.
- Strong family themes.
- Realistic storytelling that makes the story feel authentic.

Overall, this was a very dramatic story with tons of emotions leading the way. Carrie Aarons is a superstar storyteller of small-town romance. I waited too long to try her lovely stories but now I'm hooked and eager to read more!

Gabrielle and Liam were a very cute couple and in this book, we finally get to see that they are meant to be together.

Gabrielle was Liam's teacher 12 years ago. When I saw that, I thought they would have quite a big age difference, but thankfully she was only 3 years older. Back then, they both had feelings for each other, but as a teacher she was afraid to act up on them. Liam, on the other hand, was really attracted to her and was trying to get her attention. Well, they finally managed to act on the attraction, just a bit later on.

These two definitely have chemistry. Just a little time spent in each other's orbit was enough for them to hook up. The truth was that now this attraction was able to grow into love.

Paige needed a bit more time to trust her feelings, but every single day she was falling in love more and more. Liam was her future, and it was time for her to start living in it.

Their love scenes were really hot and spicy and I loved them all. I for sure will follow by reading the other books from the series.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading Paige and Liam's love story.

Carrie has definitely found her niche with small-town romances.

Sizzle is the third book in the Ashton Family series and I absolutely loved Liam and Gabrielle's story.

Carrie does a great job of writing a forbidden romance that really resonated with readers. The growth we see in Liam and Gabrielle makes this story all the more authentic.

I am not going to tell you what happens - read the blurb and you'll get all the information you need. Or don't and just know that you are going to get a woman who keeps her guard up and a man who's determined to win her over.

Sizzle is perfectly paced and will have you swooning in no time. Readers will love Liam and Gabrielle's story and will be rooting for them from the get-go.

Growing into love!

Liam is only 19 when he first meets his soul mate but Gabrielle is his teacher and so the attraction is forbidden. Because the attraction is so strong, Gabrielle does the right thing and leaves town. Years later, Gabrielle is back to sort out the house and business her grandmother has left in her will. The chemistry between Liam and Gabrielle is still burning bright. Can Gabrielle get over the fear she has of doing the wrong thing? Will she open up and let love in or will the insecurities take over?
This was a great read, of learning to open up and allow love to take hold and multiply. The characters are meant to be together and know that the other is their soul mate.

OMG!!! I swear this is the swooniest, most heart melting, all The Feels romance I have ever had the pleasure to read! There is truly nothing I can say to prepare you for Liam and Gabrielle and their incredibly beautiful and sharply poignant story. Oh, the things these two did to my heart! Rich, raw feels, intense drama, turbulent emotions, a sharp edge of realism, a dash of suspense, oodles of heart, a lush, aching sweetness, sultry steam, and a thick, tantalizing layer of angst flow like a smooth river of silk through this seductive read and I was thrilled to find myself wrapped up in its warm embrace.

Great chemistry and a really cute small town feel. I loved the HEA but failed to connect to the characters much. Thought it was a fun read regardless, and I love how Carrie Aarons writes. *I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The timing wasn't right for Gabrielle and Liam back then, his senior year of high school, and her first year as a teacher. But it's been years since she left, now she's back and there's nothing standing in their way of being together. Nothing except her obvious objections and Liam's grumpy attitude. When she left after not even having given him a chance, he changed. He's no longer the easygoing boy he was at 19. Now he's a grumpy adult with scars on his heart because he never got to be with the one he fell in love with at first sight. If only he could convince Gabrielle that they're not forbidden any longer.

The strict, traditional way Gabrielle was raised is still affecting her to this day. It's why she refuses to give into the feelings she's had for Liam for so long. But if she thought Liam was relentless back then, she absolutely is not prepared for how determined and persistent adult Liam is. Her heart has her own scars, but Liam's determination is having a serious affect on her now. Will she finally realize how good they can be together?

Liam and Gabrielle's story has so many obstacles, but in the end love prevails. The angst is high as are the feels. I felt so much for Liam especially, as Gabrielle was just so stubbornly insistent that they couldn't be together. Honestly, she isn't my favorite character in this charming series. Her ridiculous reasons for not wanting to be together drove me nuts and I found myself not connecting to her the way I connected to Liam and the other characters in this small town world. There's a bit of suspense , adding another layer to the story, and in the end I was glad they finally found their way to each other.

Gabrielle and Liam‘s story started over ten years ago as some kind of forbidden connection. Before anything could happen, she quickly left town, ending her teaching gig at Liam‘s former High School, manifesting nothing would ever happen between them. But deep down, neither of them could forget the feelings and instant connection they have felt. Over a decade later, Gabrielle returns to the small town to wrap up her late grandmother’s affairs, and they bump into one another. Liam had turned into a grumpier version of himself, realising in that instant that the only person who would truly make him happy was now back in town. Fearing what the townsfolk would think of her, Gabrielle is struggling to come to terms with her feelings and to break away from her family’s set views of how her life should look.

Ever since the first book in the series, I’ve been interested to see where the story of the oldest Ashton family kid would lead. Liam always seemed like a mysterious, standoff-ish character. Sizzle brought some light into his thoughts and actions. Deep down, he is a sweet, genuine and deeply caring person looking after his family and their business. He puts a lot on his shoulders and craves a love like his parents, a person to spend his life with. That makes him a very sympathetic character, someone you’re rooting for. Gabrielle has always struggled to live her life, overthinking how others would perceive her and what her family would want her life to look like. While realising this connection towards Liam makes her happy, she fears what the town might think and read into it. Gabrielle and Liam work well because they seem to get one another, understanding each other’s struggles. They’re each other’s person. Aarons is really good at writing characters you can understand, characters that seem human and are relatable.

I’m sure Liam‘s strong sense of protection comes from a good place, although he might’ve pushed a little too hard every now and then. He understands Gabrielle’s worries; he listens and even encourages her to go after what she wants, but it doesn’t entirely resonate with her. Sometimes, it felt like she purposely made everything bigger. He tried, but she just didn’t really communicate well. She pushed him away but regretted it a second later. Which is the only critique point I have.

I feel like this family can’t live happily without drama lurking behind the very next corner. I’m excited for Evan’s book as he has somewhat grown on me during Sizzle. If you enjoy small-town romances, strong supporting characters and a little drama and mystery, this series (not only this book) is for you.

Sizzle a Student/Teacher, Surprise Pregnancy, Small Town Romance brings us the story of Gabrielle and Liam through the telling of their dual perspectives.
This book by new to me author Carrie Aarons is the third Standalone in Ashton Family series.

Following Gabrielle and Liam on their journey made for an interesting read.
From being unexpected in some ways, which even though had me surprised, it still kept me reading on.

The relationship path travelled for Gabrielle and Liam was not an easy one.
Then again given the circumstances that bought them into each other’s lives it was to be expected with causing problems. Mostly which came from Gabrielle’s side, ultimately leading to navigating upon a rocky terrain.
This helped to give the plot intrigue, seeing just how the two would figure it out and make it work.
Especially for Liam who had his work cut out for him in convincing Gabrielle that not only were they made for each other, but to give him a chance in order to prove it.

The storyline did have you in different feels upon seeing Liam and Gabrielle’s interaction, as well as when they slowly started to take steps into building a relationship together.
One that consisted a lot of back and forth from the pushing and pulling, again mostly from Gabrielle’s side, all courtesy of her hold ups given the way she grew up to be. Something that Carrie had us learning about through Gabrielle's POV chapters.

Whilst Sizzle was a decent read, there were some issues to be had IMO.
My biggest one was from the story feeling a little too long winded, particularly when it came to the subplot. Due to all the thorough detail and explanation, it had my attention straying away from the book at times.
The other issue came from the ending being very abrupt IMO, ultimately catching me off guard with not realising that the end was the end.
It just seemed very rushed with how quickly the loose ends were tied up, some of which just seemed to be tied for the sake of having it being completed given the results that were delivered IMO.
There was also the case of there not being much character development, since the subplot seemed to overshadow Liam and Gabrielle’s part of the narrative at times. And so it meant you couldn’t really connect to the characters as well.

Overall, for being my first read by new to me author Carrie Aarons, Sizzle was still a decent read having liked bits and pieces of Liam and Gabrielle’s story in the end. Even despite my issues stated.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the third book in the Ashton Family series by Carrie Aarons. I absolutely love this family’s dynamic. Their ability to unconditionally love, share hard truths, the hilarious banter, sage wisdom, teamwork, and loyalty are the foundation they all rely on when tempers flare, disagreements aren’t resolved, emotions are high, and drama abounds.
Liam Ashton is the eldest son; at age 32 he’s seen as the prodigal son meant to inherit it all. He must wrestle with that mantle and the weight of what that means. His path has been unconventional and his heart, just like his mentor and late grandfather, is rooted in the soil he tills and the land that provides the crops for their family restaurant. He has always been different from the rest of the his siblings, quieter but no less important to the family dynasty created over generations.
At 19, in his Senior year, he falls in love at first sight-this seems to be the lot of the Ashton men. He is absolutely sure of his feelings, throws all caution to the wind, and expects his deep feelings to be reciprocated. Sadly, the reality is that sometimes in life the timing of love is off. Thankfully Gabrielle is wise enough to break both of their hearts, stand firm in her morals, and chooses to do what is necessary. For her that means leaving without a trace after graduation. Finally, the mystery of what made Liam so broken, surly and gruff is solved. Love unrequited and lost can be a destructive force.
In book three Aarons takes readers on a journey with these two lost souls. When they allow their chemistry to flourish and love to grow they are able to find forgiveness, acknowledge where they went wrong, and how they can move forward. It is a difficult process when so much personal healing must also be done. All of this acknowledgement and growth is difficult enough and then, as has been the case recently, life in Hope Crest is rife with drama and danger; and it is hell bent on finding the Ashton’s.
Will Liam and Gabrielle find their HEA? Can the family weather this current storm as they have others? Will they each find their voice and role in the ever expanding world of Hope Pizza and the Ashton Family legacy? This reader can’t wait to find out.
I've loved reading this series so I was really excited to read Liam's story, in the previous books we understood a bit of his history with Gabrielle so I was intrigued to know more of them and see how their relationship would unfold after all those years Liam pinned after Gabrielle. Their story was easy to read and I loved reading more about the Ashton family, Liam's siblings were all amazing so it was nice reading their dynamics and how they were always there for each other.
Gabrielle and Liam had a 3-year age gap and she was his teacher his senior year, he was mesmerized with her from the beginning but she always did the good thing so she never let him get too close until she left and didn't come back for 12 years. Gabrielle's grandmother lived in Hope Crest so after her death, she had to go back and clear her things and that's when she kept running into Liam, but she was still afraid of what people would think so she always tried to keep Liam away and deny their chemistry until Liam finally wore her down and they acted on their feelings.
Liam never forgot about Gabrielle and he never fell in love all those years so he put his focus into work and his family business, he was grumpy at times but I loved how he was with his family and how hardworking he was. He and Gabrielle spent almost 2 years without talking after she went back to Hope Crest but after some time, they always ran into each other and Liam was cold towards her but little by little they opened up about their feelings and they couldn't deny their attraction so they started spending time in secret until their relationship turned into something more.
In general, I loved the story but I hated at times how hesitant Gabrielle was to start something with Liam, even though she wasn't his teacher for over 12 years, she always overthought their relationship so it took me a while to connect with her. It was nice still reading how Liam was all in with her and how happy he was after knowing about her pregnancy, they had some ups and downs but I loved how they came together for their baby and the family they always wanted.
I also loved reading about the previous couples and seeing more of Liam's family, Evan's story is the last one so I can't wait to read how his story with August will unfold.
Liam is no grump
If you love small town, forbidden, complicated romances then SIZZLE, book #3 in Carrie Aarons' Ashton Family is the one for you. This is the story of the eldest Ashton, Liam, and Gabrielle Murphy. Their's has been a long, interesting story as Gabrielle was Liam's teacher in senior year. Even though there is only a three-year age-gap nothing happened between them. Gabrielle left town and Liam moved on with life.
Twelve years have passed, and Gabrielle finds herself back in Hope Crest following the death of her grandmother. As she settles in, she realizes that this small town is where she was always meant to be. She has spent the past two years, since being back in town, avoiding Liam, yet she knows that her attraction to him never disappeared. Liam Ashton spends his days working for the family business, he's mainly out on the farm tending to the produce used in the family's pizzeria. This has been his only focus since leaving school, he wasn't interested in finding love as the one woman he wanted left. She's been back for two years, and avoidance has been the name of the game, but no longer, Liam has decided to make his move.
I loved Liam and Gabrielle's story; it was a true slow burn. There's plenty of angst, drama, and personal growth that they both must go through before they can be where their hearts truly desire to be. While Gabrielle is hesitant to pursue anything with Loam, he is all in, and it's a wonder to watch. Who would have thought that grumpy Liam Ashton had smiles, laughter, and romance buried deep inside. Even though they had both built walls around their hearts and lives, it was wonderful watching the friendship between them grow and their walls slowly chipping away. Their chemistry sizzles and their attraction is magnetic, they were certainly made for each other.
SIZZLE is another wonderful read from Carrie. She knows how to bring on all the emotions with her heartfelt words. I love that she has her characters working hard to attain their HEA, it makes them more realistic and relatable.
A highly recommended read.
Gabrielle Murphy has been avoiding Liam Ashton for many, many years. First, he was her student, which she would have never let something happen there, even with only a three year age difference between them. But twelve years later, Gabrielle still denies her feelings for Liam, no matter how obvious of an attraction they both now share…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sizzle was an angsty and sweet, second chance, small town romance! Gabrielle and Liam never crossed any lines when she was a teacher in Hope Crest, but now that so many years have passed, Liam wants his chance with the woman he has always wanted… he just has to convince her to finally give their love a fighting chance…

Gabrielle returned to Hope Crest to fulfill her grandmothers final wishes, but in her time being back in the small town, she has found the home she has always dreamed of… the only problem? One very determined male who is tired of waiting for Gabrielle to stand up for what she really wants…

Liam is the grouchy farmer who works behind the scenes to provide his family pizzeria with the best, homegrown ingredients. And while he finds joys in the simple life of farming, Liam will never truly be happy until he has Gabrielle in his life… permanently.

This book was a good read with a romance that COULD have been sordid, but featured a character who was deeply concerned about ever crossing any unhealthy barriers. With a small age gap, made insignificant by the passage of time, Gabrielle will need to face her indecision about giving Liam the chance he deserves, even with the possibility of being judged unfairly by the people who know them best…

This was another engaging read in the Ashton Family series. Gabrielle and Liam’s romance was never an easy one to navigate, but in the end, true love wins again!

I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

"Sizzle" is another sweet addition to the Ashton Family series! After first meeting Liam and Gabrielle in the first book of the series, "Bittersweet," I was excited to find out that the two of them were going to get their own love story. From the moment we first met Liam, it was obvious that he was kind of a loner or outsider compared to the rest of his family -- not in the sense that they were alienating him, but in that it was just his personality and vibe.

The third book in Carrie's Callahan Family series, "Check Swing," was also a surprise pregnancy romance, so I was kind of surprised (no pun intended) when the third book in this family series also used that same trope.

Even though this book has the forbidden aspect of teacher/student, it's former teacher/student and there's only a three year age gap, so don't let that dissuade you from reading it if it's normally not your thing! The story has a lot of angst and drama, not to mention emotions, but that's what makes Carrie's books so fun and engaging to read.

We get to see Liam and Gabrielle go through a lot of growth, both individually and together. It's easy to root for the two of them, and it was nice to read a forbidden romance that had the aspects of the teacher/student forbiddenness, but without the huge age gap that those types of stories usually do.

Overall, I really love how across the series, it's so clear how close their family is. Even though some of their dynamics are complicated at times, getting to see the characters from previous (and future) books pop up and getting a sense for their stories to come (or how they've ended up since the previous books) are one of my favorite things. The next book is Evan and August's book (titled "Hearty"), which is releasing on April 26, and I'm excited to see where their story goes next!

The book is available to read for free now on Kindle Unlimited! Special thanks to Carrie for providing me with an ARC to review!

𝐒𝐢𝐳𝐳𝐥𝐞 is the third book in the Ashton Family Series by Carrie Aarons, featuring an interesting take on a forbidden romance. Liam is the broody loner in the family focusing on cultivating his land, until the one who got away blows back into town after 12 years. It was love at first sight back then, but a relationship between them was strictly forbidden, so she removed herself from the realm of temptation before any lines were crossed. Now, no barriers exist, except for the ones in her own mind. With danger lurking around the farm, will Liam ever convince her that they are meant to be together?

I’ve been curious about Liam’s story for awhile, and this woman from his past that he’s still carrying a torch for after all this time. I enjoyed the unique take on the forbidden romance trope. I don’t want to give any details, but while Gabrielle had a valid and noble reason for leaving in the past, she was a bit frustrating with how much she is still hanging on to the rigid emotional constraints she was raised with. My heart went out to her, but come on, you’re 35. Look at what’s in front of you, not the past. The secondary suspense plot was very intriguing and definitely culminated in a heart-stopping moment that I didn’t expect. The flow of the book seemed to drag a bit at times, while the resolution at the end felt a bit abrupt. I loved the times when Liam and Gabrielle were together and open, with their beautiful connection and fiery chemistry. I loved the family in this one and the way they rallied around Gabrielle, especially Liam’s mom. One of my favorite things about a good small town romance series is that found family vibe. This story also had angst, drama, suspense, and a few surprises along the way. I can’t wait to see what happens with Evan.

I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

How is it that the grumpiest Ashton turns out to be the sweetest alpharoll book boyfriend ever?! Sizzle is the third book in Carrie Aaron’s Ashton Family Series and it might be my favorite! So many tropes, and they were done so well. We were introduced to Liam in Cassie and Patrick’s story (Book one, Bittersweet) and I was immediately drawn to the grouchy oldest Ashton sibling. I knew there was more to his story and when Gabrielle was introduced I knew we were in for a wild ride. I’m hesitant to call this second chance, because this couple never really got a chance in the first place. I’m also hesitant to call it forbidden romance because Carrie did a fantastic job of showing the importance of setting boundaries and not crossing lines. I really respected Gabrielle and her morals and being adult enough and honest with herself enough to know she needed to walk away. Fast forward twelve years, I understand why both Liam and Gabrielle are frustrated with the situation. It makes for fantastic tension and you root for them even more. This was the first book that I didn’t actively hate the patriarch of this family.. maybe by Evan’s book I’ll love Thomas Ashton, but for now I at least like him a bit. The character growth for both main characters is fantastic. Watching the walls come down and learn about each other to make a solid foundation for their love at first sight meet cute that didn’t go how Liam thought it would, adds depth and gives us all the feels. The chemistry is insanely hot, who knew Liam had that bottled up? It’s true about still waters running deep. Sizzle still fits in with the previous books having the perfect mix of Hallmark and Lifetime to give us love, suspense, angst, and a hard earned HEA. I enjoyed everything about this book and it is a great addition to the series. Definitely pick this one up!

As much as I love the cover I struggled with a book which is a first for me for this author since I really liked her other books.
Gabrielle and Liam had an instant connection twelve years earlier but Gabrielle didn't act on it since she was his teacher and he was a senior in high school. Liam wanted her back then and hoped to explore this sizzle between them right after he graduated but Gabrielle left town that day and only returned twelve years later to help pack her grandmother's belongings before leaving once again. But Liam doesn't want to let go. He knew this was their shot.
So they both give in to their chemistry and phew, was their sex in the former library hot! But Gabrielle is scared of what people will think of her if they find out they are dating.
I struggled to connect with this book because Gabrielle's only worry through the book was how society would think of her. Would they think they were together when she was a teacher? She didn't do anything that time and yet, all she could speak about was that. Yes, she was three years older than him and always will be but I felt like Liam really wanted them together and Gabrielle just couldn't overcome her fears. I understood her but I felt like she was making this a bigger problem than it was. It was TWELVE years ago and they didn't do anything back then not even kissed. People change in a decade but she was still stuck in that era.
This is why I didn't really care for this book and thought of DNFing it but then didn't. The drama of surprise pregnancy and the tomato thief just didn't add to this book as I thought it would and the last couple of chapters when all the drama unfolded just seemed ridiculous to me

”Wanting you has been inevitable. Now that I’ve had you, it’ll never be enough.”

Liam and Gabrielle’s story is the one I have been waiting for ever since you could tell that there was something going on between them in previous books! And truthfully, I am not a huge fan of accidental pregnancies books, but this book was SO good. I actually think that it’s my favorite in this series!

Tropes:

🤍 Small town romance
🤍 Forbidden
🤍 Student/teacher (past)
🤍 Second chance romance
🤍 Accidental pregnancy
🤍 He falls first

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Spice level: 🌶️🌶️
Angst level: 💔💔.5

Gabrielle and Liam first met when Gabrielle (22) was Liam’s (19) teacher. There was an immediate pull that was bringing them together, but Gabrielle did everything she could to ignore it and not spark the fire. That includes moving away right after graduation.

Now here we are twelve years later and Liam and Gabrielle are both changed people. Liam holds extreme resentment towards Gabrielle for how she left and Gabrielle is set in her ways and scared to act on her feelings that have never gone away.

The angst in this book was TOP tier. One of the angstiest Carrie Aarons’ books that I have read hands down. She just makes you feel every single emotion and feeling that these characters are feeling and I loved that.

The way Liam loves Gabrielle is so special. And when Gabrielle finally allows it, it just proved how much they were meant to be together. I also loved how Liam’s family was so accepting of Gabrielle from the start and she immediately became a member of their family.

Now we have Evan’s story next and I need his FMC to be who I am hoping for!!!!

ARC Review: Sizzle

Sizzle absolutely lives up to its title! This was steamy good romance, whew! Gabrielle and Liam have a gorgeous story and I was so happy to follow them along as they took hold of the second chance life was giving to them both. The narrative takes care to develop both protagonists’ romance and their individual arcs, that by book’s end you have come to really feel you know each of them personally. They come to life off the page.

Something that I quite liked about how Gabrielle in the past removed herself from any future with Liam had far less to do with age and far more about the imbalance in positions of power. They are only 3 years apart, which is nothing as adults, but a 19 year student and a 22 year old teacher is a difference— not so much due to age but due to position in life. I liked how the narrative supported her decision in the present of not allowing Liam’s advances in the past. That said, if there is one thing I wish the narrative could have unpacked in the trauma of her upbringing in how it affected her in terms of insecurity and fear. Nevertheless, overall the reason why Gabrielle leaves in the past is wonderfully supported in narrative, which I greatly appreciated.

I loved this one, I thought it was overall paced well but I also wish we could have added a whole bunch of more pages in, especially once the pregnancy is discovered, as that is teased in the synopsis but revealed rather late in story. When a qualm is wishing for more, you know you’ve got a great story ahead. I adored Gabrielle and Liam’s love story, it was effortless to root for them and a joy (with a few heart-wrenching moments!) seeing their story unfold.

Thank you Grey’s Promotions for providing me an arc in exchange for an honest review!

The Ashton family has been a fun and emotional series, so I knew Liam’s story would be just as amazing as the ones before. Liam had fallen almost instantly for Gabrielle, but their circumstances were not ideal and led Gabrielle to walk away before things could get out of hand. Years later this kind of heartbreak still haunts Liam, but his main focus is centered on making sure his family’s farm is always prosperous. Liam is the grumpy hard worker that makes sure his family is always taken care of, but his constant state of grumpiness comes from the unresolved feelings he still carries for Gabrielle. With Gabrielle being back in town throws a lot of emotions our way while she fights any and all feelings for Liam and Liam trying to prove to her that there is more to what they could have. The back and forth between them kept me glued to the story even though at times I really wanted to shake Gabrielle because the way she was raised she thinks it’s completely wrong and I know it’s hard to overcome what you’ve been raised thinking, but it was clear for anyone to see how perfect these two were together. I loved Liam and the way he relentlessly tried to show her how good they could be together and while I wasn’t a 100% on Gabrielle I could see how her way of thinking was a hindrance, but after so many years their age difference wasn’t an issue at least not for me. Gabrielle is 3 years older than Liam and at the time her walking away was the best thing, yet now years later years older things shouldn’t have been so painful to go through and accept. The story was emotional and I loved Liam’s heart and while I found problems with Gabrielle, I still enjoyed the story.

“Because I’m finding that when I’m with you, I can very clearly see who I want to be and how I want to live.”

Sizzle by Carrie Aarons is such an incredible installment of the Ashton Family Series! I have been anxiously waiting for Gabrielle and Liam’s book since Honeyed released. Their story was one I did not want to miss. If you’re looking for a forbidden love, small town romance with accidental pregnancy and an obsessed MMC, I recommend reading this book!

Gabrielle keeps her heart guarded and strives to follow the extremely narrow path her family taught her to follow. Being Liam’s former teacher, she finds it difficult to open up and love him, even after twelve years had passed. Liam is an obsessive, confident, and loving character who is determined to break down Gabrielle’s walls. He’s wanted her since the moment he laid eyes on her! I absolutely love the way these two characters help each other grow. Their romance is so so good.

In my opinion, the books pace was perfect. Gabrielle and Liam’s romance is twelve years in the making, so it made absolute sense for their relationship to be fast-paced. Readers can sense the tension and chemistry between the characters from a mile away! I have been rooting for them since reading the previous books in the series!

So far, I have enjoyed reading the about the members of the Ashton family. I just love how the characters interact and help one another! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Sizzle is the third book in the Ashton Family series and it follows oldest son Liam aka the grumpy farmer and Gabrielle who just happens to be his former teacher over a decade ago.

Nothing ever happened between them when Liam was her student but there was definitely a shift in the cosmos the minute Liam walked into her classroom for the first time and they both knew it. Because of that shift and her upbringing, Gabrielle fled from Hope Crest and teaching only to return over a decade later to close up her grandmother’s shop. They tried to stay out of each other’s way but the connection was so strong and eventually they gave into their long buried feelings and the fireworks exploded.

Liam was so patient with Gabrielle and her struggles with her insecurities over their relationship and her upbringing. He showed her time and time again that she was everything to him and that nothing would change the way he feels about her and their future. Gabrielle found herself in a love relationship with a wonderful man and amazing in laws that show her how family is supposed to be.

There’s only one more Ashton sibling left to get their happily ever after and that’s the youngest and chef of the family, Evan. I really hope a certain waitress is his heroine 🤞🏻 cause we know the family already loves her to pieces.

Sizzle certainly sizzled, a passionate, emotionally small-town romance with a great suspense element, the wonderful Ashton Family and the perfect HEA.
What happened with Liam was something people only get once in a lifetime, and I turned the opposite way in fear.

Up next, the third book in the Ashton Family series, is Liam, the brooding eldest brother and wonderful, yet undecided Gabrielle. Ms Aarons skillfully breathes life into this couple's romance portraying the evolution of a couple separated for 15 years since their initial encounter when Liam was 19 and Gabrielle served as his 22-year-old teacher for a term. Despite the boundaries never being crossed at that time, Liam recognized early on that Gabrielle was the one for him.

However, with Gabrielle developing feelings for Liam as well, she chose to step away. Fourteen years later, following her grandmother's passing, she returns to a life that is about to be filled with emotional twists and turns. Liam, tired of waiting, is determined to pursue what has always been his, undeterred even by the challenges at the farm. Brace yourself, Gabrielle, as you are on the brink of an enticing journey filled with passion and unexpected turns.

If this is what life feels like when you finally open yourself up to the possibilities of it, I’ll take it. I’ll take all the mess and unpredictability if it means I get her.

Sizzle is the third book in the Aston Family series by Carrie Aarons. I am loving this series and been waiting for Liam and Gabrielle’s story and it was soooo worth the wait. Which wasn’t too long, thanks Carrie.

Liam fell in love at first sight when he was nineteen. He walked into his math class his senior year and saw his soulmate. He knew she was the one right then and there. He felt it. This was it. Too bad she was his teacher. It was a hard year but also the best year. To see her every day, it was torture and pleasure at the same time. He was determined to show her that they were destined to be together after graduation except she disappeared…

Then over ten years later, she was back and he was a grumpy asshole. He avoided her. She avoided him. It was hard since she became his sister’s friend and co-worker. Then finally, after almost two years they crash into each other. It’s explosive. Gabrielle has lived the straight and arrow for all of her life. Did she feel something for Liam years ago? Yes. But she knew it was wrong and that’s why she left. And all these years later, she still feels that’s is wrong but feels so right. Can Liam show her that they are still destined to be together? That the past doesn’t matter? Who cares what others might say. It’s their life.

I loved their story! I wanted to shake Gabrielle a few times but at the same time, it’s her journey and I was there for it. I love Liam’s grumpy ass. When he brings the swoon, he brings it hard. Together, they just fit. I can’t wait for the next book!!

Nice 🙂.

Gabrielle and Liam’s story is one I anticipated since the first time it was hinted that something happened with them, between them. I’m going to apologies for my honesty, I really love this author and her books are always a joy, but once in a while a character might not speak to me. No don’t go dismissing the book because of that. I’m going to explain what didn’t work for me, and it might be something another likes in a book. Gabrielle for her age was way too immature for my liking. She gave up an entire career, mind you, one she didn’t really want but was pressured into, because of one incident. I understand her thoughts on the matter as a new teacher, but after ten years having the same issue it’s hard for me to swallow. The problem boils down to this. Liam as his entire family, knows when he meets the one. She was forbidden for a few years then she came back in town and he could finally have his happy ending. Only she still sees the same roadblock in front of them and he takes his sweet time to be a man and go after his woman. There were parts I’ve loved too, when they are together in the moment is clear they are perfect for each other, the side characters all root for them. The surprise pregnancy might have been a blessing in disguise, I have doubts she wouldn’t have run away again from him. I know this is fiction and the author has the deciding power, but let me tell you, I think Gabrielle was stubborn enough to have her way. I don’t regret reading it, because it’s part of a series I love, Gabrielle frustrated me to no end but I still love that she and Liam finally got their HEA.

Do you love a grump who is an absolute simp for a girl? Then let me introduce you to Liam. He is the oldest in our Ashton family and he is the grumpiest. Liam’s heart was broken after high school. He had a connection with his teacher (only 3 years older) and thought it could go somewhere after graduation but when she left, he was hurt and from then on he protected his heart. A decade later, Gabrielle is back in Hopecrest and unsure of how things are going to go. Tensions are high every time she runs into Liam. Eventually they learn to be civil. Gabrielle ran from Hopecrest afraid that her pull was too strong towards Liam. Even a decade later, she still feels guilty for having feelings for adult Liam. She fights their chemistry and there was a little bit of angst there. Liam was frustrated with Gabrielle’s one step forward and two steps back. There was a little bit of suspense to keep it even more interesting. This was a great forbidden romance, it's not an age gap but it is OW YM.

I also want to say for anyone not sure about this because of the student/teacher thing. Liam is 19 when he meets Gabrielle his senior year but absolutely nothing happens between them while he is a student.

Another Ashton falls…

Although this one fell 12 years ago. TBH - this is my least fave of the series which doesn’t mean it wasn’t interesting, but I didn’t really bond with Liam and Gabrielle like I was expecting.

Liam fell for Gabrielle when she was his HS teacher unfortunately. So although only 3 years apart in age - they were a world apart in terms of availability. She rebuffed him at every turn appropriately, but that unfortunately turned him into a somewhat bitter and taciturn adult.

Liam sacrifices a lot for his family and the family’s farm, but he just hasn’t found that spark with anyone since Gabrielle. When she returns to town, sparks between these two fly. I wasn’t actually expecting the “surprise”, but it did manage to force their relationship to move along.

Liam was a bit too infatuated with her for me and she was a bit too stand-offish although I do feel that her family history was well explained later on in the story to understand her better.

Again - not my fave of the Ashton series, but this has been an enjoyable series and this one still held my interest. There is drama in this one, but less than the others.

I can’t wait to read Evan’s story next though!

I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.

Sizzle is another great story in Carrie Aarons’ Ashton family series, and can be read as a standalone. I loved the idea behind Liam falling in love at first sight with Gabrielle a dozen years ago. But their relationship was forbidden because even though he was 19 and only 3 years younger than her, she was one of his high school teachers. Liam thought they’d have a chance to explore the pull between them after he graduated, but instead Gabrielle left town and it broke his heart.

Now that she’s back, it’s like something has zinged him back to life. But Gabrielle is still so worried about the optics and won’t let herself feel what she does for him. Liam refuses to give up on something he knows is destiny, and he shows her over and over again just how much she can depend on him.

Once Gabrielle lets down her walks, she finds the family she’s always longed for in the Ashtons. It was lovely to see her blossom from a skittish woman who wouldn’t let herself have what she’s wanted to a vibrant partner and friend thanks to Liam’s love.

Well done! I received a complimentary copy and voluntarily left a review.
