After reading the blurb for this book, I expected this book to be more emotional - and frankly, depressing - than it ended up being. There were definitely some sad, sentimental moments, but the overall climate of the book was sweet and uplifting. I found this to be a great, heartwarming, second-chance romance.

The story centers on Alexa Sullivan Tate, who tragically loses her husband at a young age. When she is reunited with her first love at her older sister's class reunion, she is again reminded of the love that they shared...and how he walked away from her all those years ago.

Jace McAllister has spent years yearning for Alexa. He regrets the way things ended all of those years ago and has never been able to find anyone that came close to measuring up to his first, and only, love. When he heard that she had married another man he was crushed, but he was glad to know that she had found happiness, even if it was with another man.

When these two are reunited ten years later, their lives have been changed irrevocably. Despite all the time and distance between them, their feelings remain strong. They begin to rebuild a relationship, but with Jace's dangerous job, Alexa fears losing another man that she loves.

Overall, this was a fantastic story. I loved the way that Jace was so open-minded and accepting of Alexa's past. This was a beautiful, touching story. Despite being predictable, I enjoyed every minute. I listened to the Audible version, and the narration was great also.

A beautiful, explosive friends to lovers/second chance love story with a sexy and swoony military hero... seriously people, what is not to love? A debut novel that knocked it out of the park ;)

Alexa Sullivan and Jace McAllister are the best of friends all through high school. Jace is just a year older than Lexi, in the same class as her sister, Sierra. Lexi has it bad for Jace, but she has never told him how she felt. If he didn’t return the feelings, she would be crushed and she couldn't’ take losing his friendship. The night of Jace’s graduation, everything changes for this couple. Lexi isn’t the only one with romantic feelings. Jace has wanted Lexi since he first met her. The timing has never been right. Now, he is leaving for basic training in the morning. It’s now or never. He tells her how he feels and it leads to... more.

Ignite photo 68b68cc3-4668-4572-8783-5a3e99c067a3_zpsfb3b6f84.jpg

The two friends go their separate ways after that one blissful night together. Jace thinks about Lexi every minute of his basic training. Lexi misses Jace terribly. She holds on to the promise he will come back for her. When Jace comes home, he goes straight to Lexi, only to find out that her family has moved to Ohio. Her father got transferred. He has no way of getting ahold of her, and due to some crossed wires, he assumes she doesn’t want him to. They both move on the best they can from here...

Fast forward 10 years:
Alexa has spent the last seven years of her life married to Ty. She was happy, she loved him. A car accident took him away from her forever. She is now a 27 year old widow. Moving on is hard. She’s doing the best she can, but her family is worried about her.
Jace has had a successful career in the Army defusing bombs. He’s had no serious relationships. Alexa will always be the one that got away for him. Jace’s 10 year high school reunion is coming up. He knows Lexi’s sister Sierra and husband Jeremy will be there, but he’s not sure about Alexa. Last he heard, she was married anyway.

After a year and a half of grieving, it’s time to move past it. Sierra talks Lexi into coming to the reunion to help with her daughter, Ava. Lexi agrees. Then she finds out Jace will be there. She is a nervous wreck. Thankfully, she has her best friend Brady (you will seriously love Brady) to help her prepare for the trip. When Jace and Alexa see each other for the first time in a decade, sparks fly.

Ignite photo 50ccfe89-2ae0-4801-88c8-0c5708ddeb41_zps81c6326e.jpg

After a little uncomfortableness, it was like no time had passed at all. Jace and Lexi are able to pick up right where they left off. They spend three euphoric days together. That chemistry they had comes back in full force.
“Do you know how many times I’ve thought about doing this for the last ten years? Do you know how much it’s killed me not to have you? To know that someone else had his hands on you? I can’t hold it in much longer, Alexa. I need to touch you. I need to taste you. I need you, more than you could ever imagine.”

Ignite photo 51e333cd-ec9c-4ae7-9e2f-af88ce38af5e_zpsaa1b6103.jpg

Their time together comes to an end much too quickly. Jace has to go back to Afghanistan, Lexi has to go back to Ohio. They vow to keep in touch. As soon as Jace comes back to the states, he will see Lexi. Jace knows what it was like to lose her the first time, he won’t do it again. No one had ever held a candle to Lexi, and he’s not letting her go again...
“I will come back for you, Alexa. Nothing will keep me away this time. I promise.”

I loved Jace and Lexi’s relationship. They shared this special connection. The fact that they were such great friends first gave them this unbreakable bond. Their sexual chemistry was off the charts. Jace will make you melt! He is so sweet and patient with Lexi. He is understanding of her situation. Sexy, swoony, funny, pretty much the perfect guy! Then there is Lexi. I liked Lexi. There were a few times I got frustrated with her, but with all she had went through, she was coping the best she could. Trying to protect herself and protect her heart. Jace knows exactly what he wants...
“I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know that when I think about it, all I see is you.”

Alexa knows her heart wants Jace, but her head keeps getting in the way. She already lost one man, she doesn’t think she could handle losing Jace. Will her fears hold them back, or will she finally be able to get past them and move on with her life?

Ignite was a wonderful debut novel. I love second chance romance stories! There is just something about them that makes my heart happy. I fell in love with Jace and Alexa. Their story of love, loss, friendship, and healing was beautiful. I also want to tell you to be prepared to laugh. I was so surprised with how funny this was. There were quite a few laugh out loud moments! Not only did I love Jace and Alexa, but there were some truly wonderful secondary characters... Brady, Sierra, Jeremy, Ava, and Knox (who is getting his own book- YAY!). This is a book that NA lovers won’t want to miss out on! I know I’m looking forward to continuing this series. A very enjoyable read!

I fucking hate you sometimes …..

Well the first line of the book certainly caught my attention.

Alexa/Lexi really loves her Baseball – haven’t a clue about the game myself but even I was getting excited when they were at a game.

Gotta love a man in uniform!

This was a debut novel by this author. I thought the writing was fantastic, the story flowed along nicely. I usually LOVE a Badass Alpha Hero but sometimes it is great to read about a nice, decent, down to earth, normal guy!

Sex scenes were hot…

Jace and Lexi reconnect 10 years after their last meeting. The connection they had while in school is still there and they spend the weekend together at a school reunion. Jace has to return to work in the Army. But they want to make the relationship work so they keep in touch.

Lexi wants to take it slowly and not label the relationship. Of course he does not want to frighten her off so he agrees.

I swear to God I am going to buy Himself a pair of dog tags … they just ooze sex appeal to me

But it is not all plain sailing to a HEA…..

LOVE BRADY, HER GAY FRIEND….

”Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey would’ve been perfect. I’m devastated he dropped the role.

I LOVE EPILOGUES

Actually I do not like the cover of the book… that was my only gripe with it.

DISCLAIMER: I'm lucky enough to have married this author. But don't discount my review, I've done my best to be objective, so even though I clearly gave it five stars that doesn't mean it's in any way undeserving (or coerced).

I'm going to start off by prefacing my review with the fact that this book is not something I would normally read but the author looked hot so I decided to give it a try. I do have a little experience in reading/listening to romance books someone left on my iPod... but they were so bad I wouldn't feel right even reviewing them.

So Ignite was not at all what I expected. Previous experience has lead to believe meaningful relationships were built in a paragraph and then it was on to the "romancing" part which would last a few pages and everything just felt like fluff- just written to get you to the next sex scene. This was not at all what I felt while reading Ignite.

For me that's where the differences start and only expand from there. I felt there was something there between the characters, something real and palpable. I didn't feel like this book was written to showcase the sex scenes, while plentiful, this book was more than that. You really got to know this characters through the dual POV. You got a chance to know them, their motivations and desires, not just the ones pertaining to the bedroom.

The characters were authentic, and that's why I feel this book will be received well from romance readers and non romance readers alike. There's no substitute for the authenticity this book brings to everything, whether it's the characters, places or even the military aspects. It all just adds another level of complexity to this book.

This is one those rare books that transcends genres for me. It has all the aspects of a romance. The heartache, love, loss, lust, sexy Lexi, and your Alpha male. But then it goes further, with the comedy strewn through the book, the anxiety of having a loved one in the military, the annoying/loving family members, and just real, relatable emotions throughout this whole book that will make you feel as if your reading a Classic (without the good parts edited out).

Okay so I clearly can go on forever about this book so let me wrap it up with this. This book is a solid 5 stars and that is a genre shattering 5 stars. It's a must read for anyone who likes good books.

I put my index finger to his lips. "Jace, if I never see you again, "I'll remember this night for the rest of my life."

Overcome by the loss of her husband, Alexa becomes a recluse, hiding from the rest of the world, only coming out when necessary.

She's finally brought out of her shell by her friend, when she invites her to come with her and her husband to their high school reunion.

There she sees Jace again. Her first love, her first in every way that matters. She'd loved him since she was in high school, never thinking he could feel the same way until the night before he left her. The night that changed their lives.

You were my only, You were it for me. My grand slam. My perfect game. I've never, I will never, ever want anyone but you,

Jace has always loved Alexa, he told her as much the night before he left. He never thought he'd ever get a second chance with her.

When they meet again, it's as if time never passed. They can finally be with each other, but Alexa's fears of the past stand in their way.

Their future is set, all it takes is Jace convincing her of the strength of their love.

4 JACE MCALLISTER STARS.

description

Sweeter than a cadbury's chocolate giant button, 'ignite' certainly reached into the romantic depths and delivered a story of second chance love, coupled with an air of heartache that combined together produced a heart warming tale that stole my reading hours and made me fall in love. Welcome to my squishy, smiley, loved up book thoughts ...
description

What's it all about?
Alexa Sullivan has found herself a widow at the young age of twenty seven, nursing a broken heart and a future that at best looks lonely she finds herself surprised when she is reacquainted with her first love once lost. Unsure what to do with old feelings that are beginning to resurface, Alexa needs to make the leap of faith to give away her heart once again. Jace McAllister has always loved his best friend and soul mate, after a misunderstanding meant they have spend the last ten years apart, this soldier is not willing to let the love of his life disappear once again. But with history and heartache standing in the way will Jace and Alexa find love together?

description

What did I love?
This book is the best kind of sweet escape, the author took me on a journey and every part of the story created a back drop to the ongoing love story of Jace and Alexa. The characters were easy to sympathise with and I found it a delight to connect with the heart and soul of the story. Even though a second chance at love story is not my favourite trope I certainly loved what Tessa Teevan did here, it was honest and realistic and flowed with a sweet, gentle pace and although the book dealt with some difficult subjects it never felt heavy. Both Jace and Alexa were gorgeous characters, I'll start with my gushing love for Jace, he was everything that I could have wished for in a hero. A dedicated soldier serving his country with soft insides for the girl that he has always loved. He also came complete with a dirty talking side which made the more intimate scenes interesting and down right blush inducing. Throughout the book his character stood out as a shining star for me, I melted at his love and it would take the stoniest of hearts not to fall instantly in love with his charming, alpha ways. Alexa was a dream to read about, even though she had faced heart breaking difficulties I loved her inner and honest struggles, I thought the author provided a female heroine that showed courage and heart and I can't imagine this author ever writing a character that I didn't fall for. The story was beautifully written with a dual point of view from the leading characters, as a summary it has a heart clenching start, a sweeter than sweet middle and one perfectly romantic end, there's not much more to wish for.

description

Why not five?
I have struggled to answer this question, there is not even a teeny tiny doubt that the author connected to my romantically addicted self and I know I'll be excited to see future books by this author, so why not five? Well I think it simply comes down to personal reading taste, I would have liked to have seen a bit more will they, won't they at the beginning of their reunion, prolong the sexual tension and anticipation. But as stories in this genre go it won't be one to be forgotten, and as a bonus I've added another 'must click' author to my ever growing list.

description"/

Final thoughts ...
I can't finish this review without mentioning Knox, he is the best friend and fellow soldier of Jace in this story. I am beyond desperate to read about this troubled character and I'm excited to see what Tessa Teevan will do next, the glimpses we see of Knox in 'Ignite' has already paved the way to get readers ready to know more about him and I'm already in the line for that release day. As for ignite if you like sweet and heartwarming served with great steamy action and you love well thought of characters then you won't go far wrong one clicking this debut novel, what are you waiting for? Go grab it readers ... Enjoy, kisses.

I think I must be a hard hearted cow or something!

But this book was just too much. Too much cheese, on top of cheese with a side ordering of cheese!

And boring! An awful lot of nothing happening, for an awful lot of pages other than overly cheesy declarations to anyone who will listen!

And Jace seemed to have some issue with a "twitching" dick. And if it was not twitching, his groin was feeling a "pull" I think he needed to get that checked out! But he managed to pass it onto Alexa who managed to have a fire ignite in her knickers and found herself "dampening" them almost constantly!

Seriously, there is something to be said for subtlety people!

They do not see each other for 10 years, spend a weekend together with all the over the top hearts and flowers and sharing. Then write to each other like:

"Every night now ends with a memory of you, imagining you in that sexy bikini, or on a really good night I can still see how your face softened, the way you bit your lip while you braced yourself on my shoulders as you came for the first time when I was finally inside you. If I close my eyes, I can practically feel the way you clenched around me as you got your release"

"The thought of your hands running over my body has me feeling so hot that I may have to do something to put out the flames until you're here to do it yourself. I guess I'll just have to pretend that my fingers are yours, long and gentle, running over the length of my body before you stop to caress me between my legs...."

And it got worse!

I felt vaguely embarrassed for them in all honesty!

I got so bored, I decided to start playing a game counting all the pop culture references etc, of which there were many!

Amazon/Amazon Prime - 2
Kindle - 10
Netflix - 3
Skype -2
Man U -2
Man City -2
English Premier League - 1
Star Wars - 6
Kristen Ashley- 1
Kristen Ashley's book Breathe- 1
Kristen Ashley's book characters Faye and Chace -1
UPS- 1
Various Songs - at least 6
Ipod/Ihome - 2
American baseball teams - too many to count
Various other movies - at least ten
Facebook - 9
Myspace - 2

Yes, I am rather sad, but as I said, I got bored. And it was overkill! I was starting to suspect she was under some sort of sponsorship from these companies/products for mentioning them!

All in all, boring, predictable and very cheesy!

ARC received from author

****** 5++++Explosive Stars*****

"You're my past, my present, and I want you to be my future."

First and foremost, I want to thank Tessa Teevan for giving me an ARC of her debut book, Ignite. This book was truly a joy to read. It had me squealing with laughter, awing at the sweet and loving moments, brought tears to my eyes and of course had me yearning for more. I know Tessa was a little nervous about my review since she had read my previous review about a widower/old flame, but she had nothing to worry about. After an email exchange, I reassured her that I LOVE the book. It was beautifully well written that will capture and tug all the right amount of emotions in your heart.

Ignite is the first book of the series, Explosive, that centers on the life of Alexa Sullivan Tate and Jace McAllister. This beautiful story was about friendship, first love, heartache, loss, love found, second chances, life, forgiveness and acceptance. Can the heart withstand so much pain and heartbreak before getting pieced back together? When is the right time to move on? Can love be found a second time around?

 photo tumblr_ltt8w8180T1qjclwqo1_500_zps709403d3.png

Alexa Sullivan Tate, is left a widow at young age of 26. Her late husband, Ty, suffered and died instantly at a tragic car accident leaving Alexa's world completely shattered. A part of her life also died the day when Ty was taken away from her. The loss completely devastated her. She lost the man whom she loved so dearly and the future they were going to build.
 photo ignitecollage2_zpsef04d5ab.jpg

Jace McAllister, is 28 years old working and serving the US Army. He fought and survived war overseas but could never stay in a committed relationship because he would always compare them to the girl that stole his heart in high school. For him, Alexa Sullivan was the "one."
 photo IgniteCollage_zps16d50eb4.jpg

All through high school, Alexa was secretly in love with her best friend, Jace, the all-star baseball player. On the night of Jace's graduation, he reveals his true feelings for Alexa before he leaves for the Army the following day. Circumstances and misunderstanding keeps them apart for 10 years. Alexa finds love again with Ty and is married to him for about 8 years. While she is still reeling from her tragic loss, she tries to put back pieces and semblance of her life with the help of her family and friends. Her sister, Sierra invites her to go with her to her high school reunion. After 10 years, the feelings that Jace and Alexa once shared ignites. Their sexual chemistry, feelings and love are palpable.
 photo beach-couple-cute-gif-love-Favimcom-203969_large_zps0840841c.jpg

What I love about this book was that Jace and Alexa's story was well paced and their love for each other was evoked in every action and words. Jace was the total package. He was sweet, loving, understanding, and patient. I never felt he rushed Alexa into their relationship. For him to understand and accept Alexa's love for Ty truly testifies what a great man he is. As for Alexa, I adored her for her strength, acceptance and love. I especially loved that they were able to keep and maintained a long distance relationship while he was overseas and of course I LOVE LOVE they exchanged handwritten letters. There is nothing like a handwritten letter.

editquotes_zps86e168d0
Tessa did a fabulous job in writing Jace and Alexa's relationship. She was able to incorporate wit, humor, laughter, love, friendship, romance, and acceptance all in this book. The secondary characters were simply refreshing. I loved each and everyone of them: Brady, Sierra, Jeremy, Knox, and of course my favorite, Ava. What I also love about this book, it was able to incorporate references of pop culture and introduced us to the new term of "blue clit master." I highly recommend everyone to pick up and read this book because it reminds us all that life is full of second chances and new beginnings whether its moving on or loving again.

“Damn, girl, you realize this is the stuff epic love stories are made of, right?”

Both quotes pretty much tell you everything you need to know. It's epic. It's my holy grail of romance tropes - second chance love. It's hot. It pulls on your heartstrings and I just adored this book. A really light and sweet read. And that's pretty much all I have to say at this point in time. ;D

I love second chances, time to redeem and get what you want most in life. This story warmed my heart. It started out with a tragedy, Alexa losing her husband, Ty, in a tragic accident, however the last words spoken by him to her, was "I fucking hate you, sometimes". Really.... why??? We never did find out. I think that's my biggest hang up on loving this instead of just liking it. However it didn't stop me from liking the story of Alexa & Jace. They're beautiful, they're perfect for each other. From falling in love during their childhood and losing touch from being moved and shipped out for the Army, their paths finally cross again 10 long years later. Can their second chance come easy for them!?? Not so fast, Alexa isn't quite ready to just give her heart away again. Loved the build up, didn't like how long it took her to say those three words, but none the less this ended perfectly. I can't wait to get more to this series!!!!

Alexa Sullivan and Jace McAllister are the bestest of friends. There wasn't a moment they weren't together in their high school years. They have experienced a lot of good times together. But, Alexa feels more for him than just friendship. The problem is that she is afraid that he may not feel the same. So in order to not lose him, she keeps quiet. Jace has had feelings for Alexa since the moment they met. Whenever he wanted to tell her how he felt, the moment would be disrupted by someone or it just didn't feel like the right time. On the night of her sister's and Jace's graduation, he knows he has to tell her. He is leaving in the morning for basic training in the military and can't without knowing if she feels the same way. When he does, they both realize how much time was wasted when they both loved each other. Now he has to leave and nothing can happen. After sharing one of the best nights of his life with her, he promises to come back to her. Unfortunately, when he returns, Alexa is gone. She has moved to Ohio where her father was transferred. Crushed, after finding out she may not want him anymore, he returns to the military and tries to move on. But their second chance to be together may be on the horizon.

"Alexa, I've never forgotten about you. I've never had a connection with any other woman like the one you and I had--that I know we still have. You were it for me. My homerun. My grand slam. My perfect game. I've never, I will never, ever want anyone but you."

I love stories on second chance at love, and this one does not disappoint. I was saddened by the misunderstanding that kept them apart for such a long time. Then I was so freaking happy when Jace's ten year reunion was happening real soon. Because Alexa would be going to babysit her sister's daughter Ava.

Yup, ten years later is when they finally see each other again. And a lot has changed since then. Alexa had moved on from after realizing that Jace was never coming back for her. She got married to Ty and lived happily with him. He took care of her and loved her a lot. That didn't mean they didn't have their issues. On a discussion of one of their issues, where things that they may have not meant were said, she lost him. They were in a car wreck where he instantly died. She is now a widow and grieving her loss. She also hopes he did love her till the end, especially after the last thing she ever heard him say was 'I fucking hate you sometimes...'

Jace has been sucessful in the military as a bomb diffuser. He's making his way up the ranks. But he still can't get over 'his' girl, Alexa. He has been in a lot of meaningless 'relationships', if you can call them that since they are mostly just sex. He thinks about her constantly but after he finds out that she is married, he tries to move on. His highschool reunion is coming up, and when he realizes that Alexa will be there, he can hardly wait to see her again. Even if that means she is happy with someone else. But soon, it becomes known to him that Alexa has been a widow for almost two years. He doesn't want this chance to be with her again to pass him by.

"It took me a while, but I finally realize that you already had every piece of me. I didn't have to give you my heart. You already own it. You own me."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

I loved every single moment they would interact. It was so awesome to see them fall back together with no awkwardness from years of separation. There were a lot of times I laughed out loud at the funny references and the things they would say. For example, "Blue Clit", the mention of the Will Smith movie, "Hitch". I loved it! I also fell hard for Jace. How could you not? He was super SWOONY!! And really sexy, and just so damn perfect, I wanted him for myself. He was über understanding towards her and the time she needed in order to fully accept being in a relationship with him. But what totally melted my heart, besides him being a romantic, was whenever he interacted with Alexa's niece Ava. That little girl was so freaking adorable, and togther, they made my heart into mush. I'm sighing just thinking about him.

Alexa at times made me a bit frustrated. She didn't want to fully give herself to Jace completely because of the possibitly the he could die from being in the military. She was afraid to hurt again from another loss. I got her completely and her fears but I wanted her to take the chance. Jace promised he would try to get back to her. I know it's a hard promise to keep. Then again, I know I would be hesitant for the same reason too. Those times of separation where he would leave her to go to war was tough for me. I was scared of something happening to him. I don't know how families do this in real life. I'd be a mess all the time.

There were PLENTY of steamy scenes in this book. I'm serious, Jace is one sexy beast. There were a few moments, though, where I felt there was a bit too much sex. I may have wanted more scenes of how they got to know each other and maybe more reminicing of the past. But that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy them. I loved the secondary characters in this book, my favourite being Alexa's best friend Brady. He was such a great supporting and fun gay friend. Loved him. I even enjoyed the meddling members of their families. The epilogue was really beautiful. It had my heart warming with joy and I couldn't help but smile. As I continued to read I started wanting to know more about Knox. That's because we get some insight on his life. I became really intrigued about his past. So now, I can't wait to read his book. A great debut novel. If you are looking for a true romance novel, than look no further. The writing was wonderful and I really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend it. Thanks so much to the author, Tessa Teevan, for allowing read your first book.

4 Burning Stars.

Ten years ago Lexie and Jace were best-friends that were secretly in love with each other. For many years they hid their feelings until the night before Jace joined the army. On that night they confessed their feelings and everything changed. Unfortunately, when Jace comes back in a leave a few months after, he finds out that Lexie has moved to another state and he has no means of contacting her.
Ten years pass with them not seeing each other, but their feelings never quite disappeared.

description

Now, Lexie is a 27 year old widow who found love again only to tragically lose it more than one year ago and. She is mourning the death of her husband, because she truly loved him.
Jace is a 28 year old single guy, that can’t have a serious relationship because deep down, he never stopped love Lexie. They meet each other again in a high-school reunion and this time Jace is not willing to let her go again.
But even never having completely forgotten about him, can Lexie open her heart again, knowing how painful it is when it breaks?

description

Rating: 4 Stars.
Storyline: Well, it was slightly predictable. I could easily guess what was going to happen next, but it was still sweet and beautiful. One of those heartwarming books, low on angst, for when you’re in need of butterflies in your stomach.
Writing Style: First person, dual POV. Sweet, romantic and emotional.
Character Development: Jace was great, I completely loved him. Lexie, even with all the insecurities, I loved her as well, mostly because it was easy to see where those insecurities came from. Her family was amazing, little Ava was complexly sweet, although a little too mature for a 4 year old. I really liked Knox, I can’t wait to read his book.
Steam: Hot.

2.5* 'The Hero deserved WAY better' Stars

Overall I did enjoy this one, but have you ever read a book where you thought one of the main characters was just way too good for the other? This is one of those books for me.

Jace is UH-MAY-ZING, I looooved this guy. What a great character! He has been in love with Lexi his whole life, and now that he has a chance again he does not want to lose her this time. He is a SEAL, reasonable, and such a gentleman.

Lexi is an F'N BITCH. Sorry if you disagree with me, I know she did have some good and likable moments, but as a partner in a relationship she was so damn selfish I started feeling sorry for Jace about midway. I can't believe she was 28, she acted waaaay younger.

Throughout the book Jace bends over backwards for her, lets her decide everything, deals with her many annoying juvenile drama outbursts, and puts up with her wishy-washy treatment of the relationship. That is not a healthy relationship. He didn't deserve this, he deserved so much better. I imagined these two 20 years in the future with him still struggling trying to make her love him as much as he loves her.

Underneath the bullshit, there was a great storyline of unrequited love, a theme I love! And it dealt with a tragedy of her losing her first husband. These parts of the story were good, but just not enough to 'wow' me overall. I just wished Lexi had more maturity and didn't kill the story for me with her drama, head-games and selfish attitude. Still....given all of that, it was impressive book for a debut novel.

Beta/ARC provided by author for an honest review. Thank you Tessa so much for the opportunity to read your book.
*******************************************************

What happens when you come face-to-face with the love of your life after a decade? A spark is ignited, feelings resurface and second chances are reborn. That's what happens.

"...You were my only. You were it for me. My homerun. My grand slam. My perfect game. ..." (Jace)

Lexi and Jace meet in high school. He's one year ahead of her in school and on the baseball team. She just so happens to be a baseball fanatic as well. These two form a special bond and friendship that carries them through high school, until Jace graduates and heads off to the military. Also, during their friendship, they both harbored feelings for the other yet, both were afraid to let the other one know. Then...life happens and nothing will be the same. Promises made, will be broken, as well as hearts.

Life throws these two a curve ball that will change the game for them as the next 10 years roll by. Jace goes through life missing the one girl he has ever wanted while Lexi mostly moves on, marries the second great love of her life only to lose him to death. Now she is picking up the pieces of her life and trying to move forward, yet again. Jace is just surviving, getting by, missing Lexi, and giving his all to his career.

Luckily for Jace and Lexi, they have such a great support system. They have amazing friends rooting for them in their corner as well as wonderful families that have their back.

"Babe, these arms have an open invitation with your name on it. They're available to you 24/7." (Jace)

Now Jace and Lexi have the opportunity to see each other again. They're both back in their home town and its game on. This time, the game won't be rained out and may need extra-innings as Lexi and Jace just might get their grand slam that gives them their perfect game.

I really enjoyed this book. The story dealt with two great loves, loss, grief, closure, and second chances. I loved that Jace and Lexi both had great friends and family in their corner at all times. They were funny, gave great advice, and rooted for them as they make their way around the bases to home plate. There were plenty of steamy moments, swoon worthy lines, baseball references, great cast of secondary characters, laugh out loud moments, tears, and up-date pop-culture added in to the mix to keep it real. And hey, who doesn't love a man in uniform? One more reason to love this book.

This story definitely came full circle from the heated words in the prologue to beautiful ones at the end.

What I loved:
1. A military man. ;)
2. Steamy scenes.
3. Humor.
4. The emotions I was able to experience while reading this story.
5. Second chances.
6. The opportunity Lexi has at two great loves.
7. The family and friends.
8. Baseball references.
9. The ending.
10.The epilogue.
11.Jace's tribute tattoo.(I thought it was beautiful.)

I can't wait to see what Tessa has in-store for Knox in the next installment of Explosive.

I'm definitely in the minority here. Everyone else loved this, but me.

The sad part is, I was excited for it. It sounded wonderful and I'm all for second chances. But in truth, I found 'Ignite' boring. I love dual POV's but reading the same scene from both POV's became redundant and overdone. Dual POV's works when different scenes are told by the two main characters. There's a fluidity there that keeps the reader interested.

The other thing that bothered me was the overly mature speaking, Ava. The little girl is 4 years old but spoke and mimicked an 8 year old. I know that might sound silly, but I have a 4 year old that talks a lot and has great grammar....for a 4 year old. My 5 year old, or any other 5 year old in her K class, doesn't even speak in such grammatically perfect tense either.

But aside from that, I felt like I was always waiting for something--which never came. Redemption came at the last 10% when things really felt explosive. I really liked the concept of second chances, especially at love, and I loved how both Jace's and Alexa's past became their future. It was poetic and beautiful--as a concept--but it didn't supply this book enough for me as a story.

Regardless, this is a crowd favourite, so read it for yourself and judge. This is a standalone and every accompanying book in the series will be about different characters, although crossover is assumed.

Thanks for the rec Mo! I think it was just me, and I would have read it anyways, ;-))

**EXCERPT BELOW**

-----
At one point I see her eyeing the tattoo on my forearm and before I know it her fingers graze over the italic words and the jagged, raised scar that underlines them as she reads aloud to herself. “Vulneratus non victus. What does it mean?”

I begin to tell her about the time when a roadside IED hit the Humvee in front of mine. My left arm had been hanging out the window and a piece of shrapnel tore into it. I had a four inch gash that had required forty-two stitches, but other than that I’d been fine.

“It’s Latin for ‘wounded, but not conquered.’ We were fortunate to have not had any bad injuries, so when we got back the guys and I all went and got this tattoo to commemorate that those bastards tried, but failed.”

She pales slightly at the mention of my injury, no matter how minor, so I wrack my brain trying to find a way to change the conversation into something much lighter, even though her fingers trailing over the words on my arm are making my skin tingle, bringing all kinds of erotic thoughts to mind.

------------

After nearly a year and a half of grieving the loss of her husband, twenty-seven year old Alexa Sullivan Tate is headed back to her hometown after a decade of being away. She has no idea her high school crush, Jace McAllister, the guy who stole her heart the same night that he broke it, is more than ready to pick up the pieces.

Jace has spent the last ten years in the Army defusing bomb after bomb, trying to forget the girl who ignited all his passions. Little does he know that the spark still exists.

Ten years ago they had smoldering chemistry, but the spark between them now might light a fuse that leads to an explosion even Jace can't stop. Not that he wants to. If only Alexa can get past her guilt and trust her heart again.

But how do you put it all on the line when you've already lost everything once before?

"God, baby, you have no idea how much I want to sink into you right now. You're so fucking wet and I haven't even tasted you yet"

I really enjoy reading second chance romance books and I have to say Ignite has turned out to be one of the better ones for me. It was sweet, tender, sexy and HOT!

This is my first book by Tessa Teevan and I thought it was great. I found the flow of the story to be wonderful even though it covered a 10 year span in time. I appreciated everything Tessa shared about Jace and Alexa . It just made their story even more special.

 photo Ignitecollage1_zps43ad49f3.jpg

Jace and Alexa’s high school relationship was one that I adored. They were so cute and innocent. Alexa had such a big crush on Jace and gave him her heart without him knowing it until one night when goodbyes are about to happen. This is when Alexa finds out his true feelings for her but as quickly as she gets a piece of his heart, it is taken away.

 photo Ignitecollage2_zpsc835027f.jpg

It didn’t take me long at all to warm up to Alexa. I thought she was spunky, sweet, sexy and she definitely knew what she wanted. Lexi is strong on the outside but her heart has been hurting for the last year or so. After losing her husband to a terrible accident she is dealing with feelings that she has yet been able to share with others. Mostly about things that happened just before the accident but when she finds out that Jace is returning to their hometown after 10 years she will be forced to deal with feelings that she has tucked away. Feelings that she isn’t sure she is ready to face again.

 photo IgniteCollage3_zps20d7b6dc.jpg

I instantly fell in love with Jace. He was perfect. Some may say too perfect but to me I just sucked it up! In addition to having a tender heart, he was a sexy and hot military guy. I loved that he never stopped loving Alexa. That he was willing to wait for her, willing to take whatever she was able to give him. He was so swoony! ;)

Together Jace and Alexa made a wonderful couple. The chemistry between them was sizzling and the sex scenes are HOT. Tessa Teevan drove me crazy as she was bringing them together but when it happened OMG!

Their journey was filled with moments of rediscovering each other, learning about their lives while they were apart and trying to figure out what their future holds for them. While Jace is ready and willing to put his heart out on the line, Alexa is a bit more guarded and needs more time. She gave her heart to him once, then again to her husband. Can she give it away again?

 photo ignitereviewcollage_zps07d07df4.jpg

In addition to Jace and Alexa there are a few side characters, Sierra, Jeremy & Knox that add some humor that rounds out the story. And then there is little Ava who was just cute as a button! :) If you enjoy second chance romance you need to read Ignite! You will love it!

Putting this one on hold. I usually love second chance romances and the fact that the heroine is a widow made me think "older" despite the New Adult-ish cover. I've only read up to about 20% but the heroine seems a little immature and quite frankly, the story is just dull up to this point. I may pick this up later if I want to do some housecleaning of my bookshelves. I've read a lot of books that started off poorly and improved later on, so I don't want to write it completely off.

This was a beautiful story of friendship and love. Love lost, love found, and second chances. Alexa Sullivan aka Lexi grows up in Navarre Beach. All through high school she is secretly in love with her best friend Jace McAllister. Jace is one year ahead of her and in her sisters graduating class. The night of graduation Jace and Lexi reveal their true feelings to one another. It turns out Jace has always had a thing for Lexi too. The following day Jace leaves for the army. Circumstances keep them apart and Lexi finds love again in college with a man named Ty. She is married and with Ty for about 8 years until an accident takes him from her. While she is still trying to put her life back together and heal her sister invites her to go with her to her high school reunion. Lexi's lost love Jace is at the reunion and after 10 years of not seeing each other sparks fly. Jace was always this cute, baseball jock, and now he is a super hot, muscular military guy. The one thing that hasn't changed is his feelings for Alexa.

I really enjoyed them getting to know each other again. Jace wasn't your typical jerk you often see in books. He is truly a genuine, kind man. What you see is what you get. He doesn't play games, he loves with all his heart, and did I mention he is smokin hot!!! I also really liked all the supporting characters. I loved her husband Ty & felt she was so lucky to have found love twice! Alexa's sister Sierra and her neice Ava were hilarious, and I absolutely adored Jeremy her sister's husband! I also like Alexa's relationship with her best friend Brady. I really wanted more of Jace's military best friend Knox Wellington from the moment I read about him. I am thrilled he is getting his own book!

-The truth is, I've never gotten over her. Alexa Leigh Sullivan. The object of my high school desires, and the one girl I've never been able to forget.

-Her eyes dart nervously around the room before they lock in on mine. She freezes, and my body reacts exactly the same way. She's more breathtaking than she was ten years ago, if that's even possible.

-His full lips attract my attention as he wraps them around the beer bottle that he's taking a drink from and I involuntarily shudder at the memory of where those lips have touched me.

-Closing my eyes, I'm suddenly a smitten seventeen year old girl dancing on the beach with the guy of my dreams.

-How can this one man affect me so much, after so much time has passed?

-He was just Jace. My confidant. My shoulder. My best friend, and the first guy I ever loved.

-He lays his body over mine, and I instantly remember our first night, but his body is harder, more rigid, and I'm more desperate for him than before.

-I know it's crazy, but I wasn't lying when I told her that I'd never met anyone that could replace her, no one even came close.

-All I have to do is even think about being with you, and my body responds."

-"You like that, baby?" I ask her as her hands grip my shoulders. She leans her head back against the tile, her eyes closed. "God, I love it," she moans, a desperation in her voice.

-I can feel her walls starting to crumble, and I'm not stopping until she's completely mine.

-You're my past, my present, and I want you to be my future.

Ignite is a beautiful friends to lovers, second chance love story that is written over an 18 years time period.

Alexa Sullivan Tate has been grieving for her husband Ty for nearly 18 months. She is headed back home with her big sis Sierra, her husband Jeremy and their little daughter Ava, Lexi is the nanny while they go to their high school reunion but Sierra has others plans for Lexi.

Jace McAllister has been in the Army for the last decade working as a bomb disposal technician but he has never forgotten the girl he left behind 10 years ago and he is hoping that Alexa will be at his high school reunion.

When Jace and Alexa meet up after 10 years nothing has changed between them, there is instant chemistry and they fall back into being best friends who can talk for hours or watch movies together, when they finally get physical it is slow, sweet and sexy. Jace wants to take it slow as he knows how delicate Alexa is after losing her husband.

So they begin a long distance relationship as Jace has his deployment with the Army. With time Alexa's walls begin to crumble as she starts to believe she can have the future and family she always wanted with Jace and Jace is going to do whatever he can to prove to Alexa that they belong together.

This was my first time reading Tess Teevan and I can't wait to read the rest of this series. It took me a little longer to read this but Ignite has everything you need for a great read, great funny characters, scorching hot sex, funny banter and some heart breaking moments.

Thanks Patty for suggesting I read this series.

(ARC provided by author)

I'm literally in book heaven right now.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this fabulous book from the author.
The synopsis sounded so good and Tessa Teevan did not disappoint!!!

If you love Friends to Lovers and Second Chance Love stories, then this book is for you!!!

 photo image_zps2577ce57.jpg

This is the story of Lexi Sullivan and Jace McAllister.
They were the best of friends in a High School.
Jace was the HS baseball star and Lexi was his side kick.
She's a year younger but the two are practically inseparable.
Both crazy in love with each other, but completely oblivious to their reciprocating affections.
Everyone else can see what these two are so blind to!!!
Then on the night of his graduation, the night before he leaves to join the army, Jace confesses his feelings for Alexa.
They have an intimate night together and Jace vows to come back for Alexa.

"You just don't get it. You've never gotten it. It makes me crazy, but I also love that about you, Alexa. You're so unaware that it drives me insane." - Jace

Things happen that keep these two apart and it will frustrate you when you find out what kept them from each other.
Jace never stopped pining for Alexa and he's never given his heart to another woman in ten years.
Lexi married Ty, a boy she met during her college years.
Ty and Lexi get into a car accident in which Ty is killed.
His last words to her...

I fucking hate you sometimes

Lexi has been grieving for over a year and those last words from Ty's mouth to her, still haunt her.
Ty was not a bad guy and you'll get the background on what transpired before those famous last words.

There is a 10 year HS reunion coming up for Lexi's older sis, Sierra, and brother-in-law, Jeremy.
They were in the same class as Jace.
Sierra gets Lexi to come with them to act as her niece, Ava's, baby sitter.
She's got ulterior motives.
Playing matchmaker for her sister and Jace.

I loved Sierra, Jeremy and little Ava!!
Ava just about steals every scene she's in.

When Jace and Alexa come face to face, the chemistry is undeniable.
You feel the sexual tension!
There is just a brief moment in awkwardness and then the two settle in to familiarity.

He could read me so easily, and he could handle me with care without seeming too overprotective. He was just Jace. My confidant. My shoulder. My best friend, and the first guy I ever loved.

Jace McAllister is what we want in a book boyfriend.
Tall, gorgeous, drool worthy physique, and hot damn he's got all the sexual moves, even though I have to agree with Sierra and Lexi, he was a bit of a "blue clit master" LOL
I'll never forget that term.

I was going to combust waiting for these two to finally consummate their relationship!!
But oh my god when these two finally have sex, it's crazy off the charts HOT!!

"Do you know how many times I've thought about doing this for the last ten years. Do you know how much it's killed me to not have you? To know that someone else had his hands on you? I can't hold it in much longer, Alexa. I need to touch you. I need to taste you. I need you, more than you could ever imagine." . - Jace

I did love the way he was so patient with Lexi and never pushed her to give more of herself.
Lexi was quite a frustrating character!!
So blind to see what was right in front of her and then too scared to give love another try.
I wanted to shake some sense into her!!

"Do you know how many times I've thought about doing this for the last ten years. Do you know how much it's killed me to not have you? To know that someone else had his hands on you? I can't hold it in much longer, Alexa. I need to touch you. I need to taste you. I need you, more than you could ever imagine." . - Jace

There are quite a few hot sexy scenes in this book.
I needed to douse myself with cold water to cool down...WOW!!!

I also loved some of the secondary characters, which doesn't happen too often for me.
They all played an important role in getting these two star crossed lovers back together.
But Lexi's fear of losing Jace holds her back from giving up her heart to him and I'm yelling at her to get her ass in gear. Life is too short to worry about what may or may not happen!!
How can she resist a man who says this??

"Alexa, I've never forgotten about you. I've never had a woman with whom I've had a connection with like you and I had. You were my only. You were it for me. My home run. My grand slam. My perfect game. I've never, nor will, ever want anyone but you." - Jace

Well in any good romance, you need a bit of angst and Lexi's stubbornness is what makes for the angst in this story.

I don't want to give anything away.
All I can say is that I really LOVED this story and I highly recommend it to those who love a Sexy, Friends to Lovers story!!

Can't wait for Knox's book!!!! :)

What a sweet book. This is a book about second chances in love...

Alexa is 27 years old and a widow. Her husband died in a car accident and one and a half years later she is still struggling with this...

When Alexa's sister is going to her high school reunion, Alexa is taken back to the past, where she sees her first love, her childhood best friend, the boy whom she gave her virginity to-
Jace:

So... Jace and Alexa were inseparable in school. Only they never admitted their feelings to each other until the night before Jace is headed to be in the army he confesses to Alexa how he feels and that he will come back for her- but he never does, so she thinks...

Now taken back to the past in the future... Alexa and Jace finally get to clear the air about their feelings and Alexa for the first time in so long "feels" again.

Only she's apprehensive because his in the military. History cannot repeat itself and Alexa cannot go through another loss in her life...

What will she decide?

This is a book about second chances, overcoming your fears and embracing what's meant to be.

"That’s what you don’t get. I’m on the pitching mound and you’re my perfect game. It will never get better than you. No matter how many times I try to duplicate it, I know that it will never, ever happen. And now that I have a second chance, I’m not going to let you go as easily as I did back then.”

The sex scenes were HOTTT!
A very awesome read which keeps you hooked!

“So thankful that I’m getting a second chance, Alexa. So damned thankful.” - Jace

Every once in a while, there comes a book that reaches deep inside you and stays with you for days, weeks, even months. That’s what happened to me with Ignite. There aren't enough words to describe just how much I truly LOVED this book. Trust me, it's fan-freaking-tastic!!!
“We stood there, wrapped up in each other, kissing like two people who’d been missing each other for their entire lives. It was as if we were trying to make up for all the lost time…”

Alexa and Jace had been those best friends in high school that were madly in love with each other, yet never did anything about it. Until the last moment – right before Jace left to join the Army. Then, life happened and Alexa never heard back from Jace.

Ten years later…. Heartache, happened. Alexa had spent the greater part of the year mourning the death of her husband after a tragic car accident. Luckily for her, fate disguised as Sierra, Alexa’s hilarious yet nosy sister, stepped in.

Sierra and her husband, Jeremy, convinced Alexa to go with them to their high school reunion as their daughter, Ava’s, babysitter. This stirred all kinds of emotions in Alexa. She knew she’d come face to face with the man she fell in love with all those years ago. The man, that whether she wanted to admit to herself or not, still occupied a huge part of her heart.
“He was just Jace. My confidant. My shoulder. My best friend. And the first guy I ever loved.”

Spending the weekend together awoken old feelings that never really left. My heart smiled seeing Alexa open up to Jace again, accept her feelings, and even trust him enough to talk to him about her husband… about the horrible day he was tragically taken from her. It was especially wonderful, seeing Jace open up to Alexa about his experience in the Army, about his deployments, and all the times he’d come home, yet a friend hadn’t.
“I’ve never been able to get over you. You were my best friends. The first girl, the only girl, I’ve loved.”

After an incredible time together at the reunion, they went back to reality. Jace returned to Afghanistan to finish his deployment and Alexa returned to her empty house. They kept in touch and basically took things slowly. You see, Alexa and Jace both loved each other and they each knew it, but Alexa was scared. I never once got irritated with her doubts, hesitations, or fears. I mean, she already buried a man she thought she’d spend eternity with and Jace’s job in the Army wasn’t exactly the safest one ever.

I 100% connected with this book. It’s written in dual POV so you’ll get the full picture. I was there every step of the way with both Jace and Alexa as they gave their love a second chance. I saw Jace fight to prove to Alexa that they are worth her overcoming her fears of burying yet another loved one, and I was there right along Alexa as she spent her days thinking Jace would never come back from his deployments. Yes, there were moments where I wanted to smack Alexa, moments where my heart just broke for Jace, but the way that Tessa wrote this book was very real. Being an Army wife myself, I completely understood all these feelings and situations.
“I’ll be back soon. Love you, beautiful,” he whispered, and with one last kiss, he turned and walked away.

I cried, laughed out loud - hard, and SWOONED while reading Ignite. To say I'm crazy, head-over-heals in love with Jace McAllister is THE understatement of the year! He's just so, so PERFECT. The secondary characters were phenomenal!!!!! Sierra, Jeremy, and Ava were HILARIOUS. Brady was THE best friend, ever and Knox… hmmm let’s just say I’m not-so-patiently awaiting his book.

On top of EVERYTHING else, this book had one of the most beautiful endings!!! I may or may not have finished reading with happy tears going down my face........ FINE, *sigh* I totally did!! Okay, seriously though, drop EVERYTHING and buy this book!!!!! Trust me, you’ll thank me. *wink* Phenomenal debut!!!
“I love you, beautiful girl.”

Ignite by Tessa Teevan was a wonderful surprise. This story contains some of my favorite romance plots: best friends, friends to lovers, and second chance romance.

This is the story of Alexa and Jace's. They were best friends in high school. Throughout their friendship both had stronger feelings but were too scared to act on it. On the night of Jace's graduation he reveals his true feelings along with the fact that he's leaving for the army the following morning.

Unfortuntely both lose touch for the next 10 years. The story begins with Alexa having recently lost her husband tragically. She's having a hard time moving past the death of her husband. When is it too soon to move on?

Jace and Alexa are reunited with the help of her meddling sister. What ensues is a great second chance story. Will they be able to overcome the mistakes and misunderstandings made in the past? Will they be able to bring their present lives together at this stage in their life?

What I loved:
*IT'S A STANDALONE. NO CLIFFHANGER.
*The writing. Story flowed very nicely. The way she handled the characters' feelings was pure magic! It was very romantic.
*It's told from a dual POV.
*Main characters. I loved both Alexa and Jace.
*Secondary characters. I loved all the secondary characters. They were all funny, loving, and supportive.
*There were no stupid unnecessary plot twists. It was just a straight up story about people moving past the consequences life has thrown their way.
*The sex scenes.

They were smoking!

Why not 5 stars?
It was just missing some "hmph" towards the end. I like a little bit more angst in my stories so I think this is more of a personal choice than anything.

That being said I definitely recommend this book and I will most definitely read the rest in the series!

3.5 stars for hunky soldier Jace!
The book starts off with the hateful last words of Alexa's husband. She lost her husband in a bad accident and the last words she hears from him are "I fucking hate you sometimes". Alexa is trying to move on and get back into the land of the living. She's shut herself off. I completely loved anything her sister Sierra said! She was such a loving snarky sister. She really supported her sister getting back into living life. One way she did that was to orchestrate Alexa attending Sierra's high school reunion. Because Jace McAllister was going to attend, and Jace and Alexa have history....

So here's the deal for me... I didnt like how things went down the night of graduation between Jace and Alexa. For two people who were best friends and hung out constantly for the last 3 years it didnt make sense that they never discussed his change of plans. Then the events after that on the beach... I just felt a bit disconnected with the story.
Sometimes the dialogue went on too much, sometimes there was a lot of description put into a subject that didnt need it. Like his "spank bank" on his phone when interacting with a toddler. TMI! At times i felt that the story was on a good flow then ventured off. There were some cheesy moments, but that's not such a big deal. There were some funny moments too.

I did like Jace. I liked that he had such a strong connection toward Alexa. I liked that he was a kick ass soldier. And I adored his determination when it came to Alexa because she was a hard nut to crack. He was a great combination of sexy, sweet and alpha.
Alexa had lost someone she was very much in love with. Although their marriage wasnt perfect (you will get insight on what was going on) they were both in love with each other and very happy. After losing Tyler she wasnt sure she could open her heart to love again only to potentially experience another loss. She couldn't bare that. But Jace knew her hesitations and was willing to put in the effort and patience. Jace also had a very dangerous job that took Alexa time to accept. I like the pacing of their relationship. The ability of Alexa to accept Tyler's last words as frustration and not as disdain. The fact that Jace was able to help her with that made him more adorable. Matter of fact, anything to do with Tyler Jace took with such gentleness. I loved him.

Supporting characters were definitely good. Brady was her gay co worker who spoke it like he meant it. He never held back, and his comment about a dry vagina was hilarious! Sierra and her husband were so much fun to read. This is a stand alone with HEA.

***3 Saccharine Sweet and Frustrating Stars***

This one is definitely a case of

Jace and Alexa's reunion and romance was sweet....a little TOO sweet for me tastes.

Jace laid his heart out at every opportunity and had the patience of a saint. And though I could sympathize with Alexa, after a while she just frustrated me. It's not like this was a whirlwind romance. They were the best of friends for three years in high school and even admitted their feelings for each other back then...after a while, I just needed her to get her head out of her ass.

By the time she finally came around to revealing what she already knew and felt...I had nothing left in me to swoon. I was just thankful she finally realized she was being a dumbass.

There was a lot of "let's not talk or think about that right now" which was another big frustration, but at least it was replaced with some lovely, smutty goodness!

Jace was a pleasant surprise. He was so sugary sweet with his promises and feelings that when it came to the good stuff, I was concerned it would be more of the same. But that boy had quite a dirty mouth on him.....which pleased me ever so.

Overall, I liked it, but it didn't wow me. This was my first Tessa Teevan book, but I doubt it will be my last.

I'm intrigued by the setup with Knox. He came off as a bit of an asshole....which put stars in my eyes.

I fucking hate you sometimes....

The last five words Lexie's husband ever says to her.
After a freak accident leaves Lexie a widow at 27, she finds herself going through the motions of life.
The day that her husband died, is the day she lost herself, her future, all her hopes and dreams.

When her sister's High School Reunion comes around, she is dragged as babysitter for her niece.
But her sister has ulterior motives, Lexie's, high school best friend/ crush is heading in for the weekend.

Jace McAllister

10 years ago, Jace and Lexie were inseparable. Best friends through and through, one the night before Jace leaves to join the Army, he lets Lexi know his true feelings. He never could imagine that Lexie felt the same way. One last night together is all that they can have, and each give one another themselves, with a promise that when Jace returns, he will come to her.

When Lexie's family unexpectedly moves, Jace comes home to find Lexie gone and news that he broke her heart.
The last 10years he has tried to forget the one girl who held his heart and try to move on.

When Lexie and Jace reconnect at his high school reunion they both are surprised by the spark that they both still hold for one another.

“Alexa, I’ve never forgotten about you. I’ve never had a woman with whom I’ve had a connection with like you and I had. You were my only. You were it for me. My home run. My grand slam. My perfect game. I’ve never, nor will, ever want anyone but you.”

Lexie decides to live her weekend carefree and go with the pull towards Jace, she has come a long way in the last 12 months and decides to take a risk.
Their weekend is full of lust and explosive chemistry.

"I'll never stop telling you. I've wanted you for so long, I still want you now. My Dick is screaming at me, wondering why the hell I'm not buried so deep inside you, making you scream."

Lexie still has to get past the guilt she holds on to from her husband and the last  words he ever spoke to her. With the help from Jace, she opens up and slowly begins to heal.

With the weekend over, Jace and Lexie realise they are back where they were 10 years ago. Jace heading back into duty and Lexie, back home.

But this time Jace is adamant he can't possibly let her go.

I will come back for you, Alexa. Nothing will keep me away this time. I promise you...

Can Jace convince her that this is it for him? And will Lexie move past the pain and guilt of letting her husband go, and put her heart on the line again with a future with Jace?

I don't know know what the future holds, but I do know that when I think about it, all I see is you. I know that scares you, and honestly, I can admit that I have my own fears but I'm more terrified of living a life without you....

I really enjoyed this one, Tessa hits it out with her Debut, I couldn't get enough of Jace and Lexie.
It was low on the angst, which I really love. High on the steam, hell everyone's gotta love that
I loved loved loved, the banter between Lexie and her sister. I loved their friendship and closeness
The opening was a slow build up, but found myself fully connecting with Lexie because of it. It was heartbreaking to read the pain and guilt she held onto with those last words her husband says

I loved the epilogue. Love me a good epilogue
I can't wait for Knox's story next. I have a feeling his is gonna be one hell of a ride

Bravo Tessa on an amazing Debut.
Be sure to add this one guys!
