Sons of Wrath #2

Soul Resurrected

Rate this book
As Wrath’s fiercest son, Logan carries the scars of fifty years spent in the most dreaded prison of the underworld, for a sin he’d kill to keep secret. Enduring decades of gruesome torture has left Logan feared by and detached from others, until a female Alexi’s blood resurrects his soul from death and, with it, the pleasures he’s been denied for so long.

Plagued by shame of her own, Calla is drawn to the ruthless demon, Logan, whose insatiable craving for her touch rouses buried passions and, for once, leaves her feeling desired.

A dark and dangerous evil has been reawakened, however, and when Calla is drawn too close to its breeding grounds, Logan vows to summon the violence of Wrath in order to keep her safe. First, though, Calla must save him from a past riddled with deceit and corruption … but only if she can accept the chilling consequences of unearthing his vilest skeleton.

5 Leaves You Begging For More Stars

I never believed in love. Mostly because love never believed in me enough to break through my shield. Why believe in something that's never touched you?

Holy, sweet mother of AWESOME. Where has this series been all my life? It was 500+ pages of action packed, gritty, sexy, unputdownable awesome that I absolutely devoured. My nails are bit to shit, I'm running on about 2 hrs of sleep, and you know what? So. Totally. Worth. It. If you haven't started this series yet, I'm not sure what you're doing with your life.

After the set up for Logan's book in Soul Avenged I knew I couldn't wait any longer before diving straight into his book. I read them back to back. I was incredibly curious how things would play out with him and Calla. I'm not a reader that likes weak and sniveling heroines, and Calla gave me those vibes in the previous book. Boy was I wrong!
Vulnerability and weakness are two separate entities, Miss Calla. Where one exposes you to pain, the other allows you to be consumed by it.

Calla really comes into her own in this book and proves herself to be a force to be reckoned with. She does make a few questionable decisions here and there, but none of that made me like her any less. She was the perfect match for Logan.

It's clear from just the first few pages that Logan is a very broken character. He's already survived unspeakable horrors in his life, and his recent death and resurrection is just another notch to add to it. In the midst of all the turmoil that is already ever present in his head there is also the woman that got him killed in the first place; Calla, the Alexi warrior.

This was no insta-love or insta-lust case. Not even fucking close. Logan hates Calla and makes no bones about it. He also makes it pretty evident that he blames her for what happened. He's cold, and callous, and utterly brutal to her. It was delicious. Because underneath all of that loathing is a undercurrent of unwanted lust. Keri Lake did a phenominal job working that in without making it too obvious. It truly makes the reader burn for this couple to finally figure that out themselves.

While I felt that the romance was secondary in the first book, it was definitely front and center here. While it is a slow but sizzling hot build, it is clearly prevalent in the story. Once Logan realizes how Calla really effects him, all bets are off...

You want a tortured, dirty talking, and yet somehow endearingly vulnerable hero? Logan is all that and more. I love PNR, but as much of it as I've read through the years, some heroes tend to blend into one another. Not Logan or ANY of the Wrath brothers. Nope. These are alphas that I'll be comparing all other alphas to.

In the midst of the romance you also have an incredibly action packed and fast paced story. The author has woven together an intricate world with unique characters and twists and turns that will leave you biting your nails and turning the pages well into the night. Holy shit it was awesome! The whole thing unfolded before me like a movie playing through my mind.
She'd broken him. Punched right through him and found the soft, dark place that he'd sworn off to everyone. Little Calla, the seemingly meek and fragile human female, had somehow fought her way through his defenses with every intention of conquering his heart.

If you're a fan of sizzling hot and action packed PNR, this is a series that is a MUST read. Trust me. I'm seriously kicking myself for not discovering it sooner. And now I'm left practically panting for Gavin's book next. Keri is the queen of a twisty set up that will leave the reader begging for the next book. I can't freaking wait!

I do not recommend reading these books out of order as each one builds off of the other. The story will be that much more enjoyable if read in order.

5 Du Amec Stars!

Soul Resurrected starts off where the first book, Soul Avenged, left off. Calla’s pure Alexi blood was used to resurrect Logan from death and in the process, a bond was formed. Both Logan and Calla have their reasons for wanting to distance themselves from one another and to fight the bond and growing mutual attraction. But when an ancient threat resurfaces that has long been believed to be extinct, Logan and Calla find themselves working alongside one another to not only defeat this new enemy but to also defeat their own personal demons.

Logan

Logan is so much more than the angry, intense, pugnacious, rule breaking, bad boy… erm I mean demon that you see on the outside! Logan has a very dark & tortured history with secrets that even his brothers don’t know about.

"I never believed in love. Mostly because love never believed in me enough to break through my shield. Why believe in something that’s never touched you?"

These secrets have caused Logan to build up an impenetrable wall that protects and numbs him from any and all emotional pain. He uses anger, sarcasm, and fear to push others away from him. When Calla resurrected Logan from death, she began knocking down his defenses and shows Logan what it FEELS like when he is touched, emotionally and physically, by another soul.

I will admit that at first I was a little skeptical of Logan. He was so bitter, angry, and was a complete asshole to Calla! But as I got to know him and learned more about his past, his behavior made a lot of sense. I loved watching his character evolve throughout this book and by the end, I was completely smitten =)

Calla

I felt like Logan described Calla perfectly: "On the outside, you’re like any other female. Normal. Inside, a raging storm."

On the surface Calla appears to be a shy, innocent, meek, & naïve woman but she has overcome so much pain and loss that I couldn’t help but respect the hell out of her. During this book, Calla’s main focus is to seek revenge against the person who cost her the one thing in life she cared most about. I don’t want to give that particular story line away so I am intentionally being vague here.

Her developing relationship with Logan forces Calla to come to terms with the issues from her past. She will have to overcome these issues if she wants to have a healthy relationship with Logan, or any man for that matter.

My Thoughts

I cannot express enough how much I LOVED THIS BOOK! It is fast paced, full of action, contains scorching sexual tension, has a few very HOT love scenes, and the characters are unforgettable! I seriously did not want to put this book down!

If I had to pick my favorite aspect of this series, it would definitely be the Sons of Wrath demons! I love how they are fiercely loyal and would literally spend 50 years in a hellish prison just to protect each other. I also love how the Sons of Wrath demons are total ALPHA MALES! They are very protective of their females, are dominant in the bedroom, and completely committed to their relationships.

I am so ecstatic that Soul Enslaved (Sons of Wrath #3) is going to be Gavin’s book! I am in serious book love with him and am super anxious to see how his story unfolds! ❤

Memorable Quotes

"Quit calling me princess."

“Let’s go. Now.” His lips twitched and, by God, if he called her princess one more time, she’d haul off and smack him for sure, but he merely held out his hand and ushered her forth. “After you.”

She rolled her shoulders and took one step.

“Your highness.”

“When you’re ready, look for me in that darkness, because I’m right here. And I’m not going anywhere.”

Calla
The mask of smiles always hid the truth: shame, fear, the sadness that remained cloaked in the darkness of her soul.

Logan
Numbness is my shield. My faith. My reality. More real than the idea that love will ever touch a bastard son, like me.

Calla is another rogue Alexi warrior, but unlike Ayden she isn't a killing machine, don't get me wrong she can still kick ass and stand up the to worst of them, but her purpose in the Alexi was to lure and play bait. Because of her previous role, Logan a Wrath Demon, almost lost his life, owing him everything she sacrifices herself to bring him back. The price they pay is a bond that neither of them welcome. He's an asshole and she's a mess, all she wants is to get her brother safe away from the Alexi but her guilt over what Logan and his brothers went through cause her to push her plans aside until he is healed, no matter how big an ass he is.
"You’re a frickin’ puzzle. The kind that makes a person want to stand up and throw you across the room because you drive them so crazy!”

Logan has no clue why Calla effects him the way she does, the first female whose touch he feels, when everyone else's is numb. As much as he wants to hate her…blame her, he can't, leaving him in an position he has no clue how to navigate.
"it seems my nightmares have an affinity for you—evil seeking out purity, or some shit. I got an addiction to your scent, your touch, which has rendered me somewhat mad, you could say.”

Seeing past his armor, she gives into the way he makes her feel, she has her own demons to battle but being with Logan makes her feel safe. Logan doesn't think he deserves someone as pure and innocent as Calla, and as much as she tries to tell him she isn't as innocent as he thinks she is, he won't believe her. His past has nothing on the fifty years of torture in the toughest prison in Hell, and protecting Calla from his past is what Logan strives to do.
“I’m wrong for you Calla, on more levels that you can even imagine, but tonight I’ll make everything right.”

Along with their turmoil, they must deal with bounty hunters, the Alexi, the Humans and a new force brought back to life. Hate and Vengeance fuel their need but they will only be successful if they stand together.

I loved Soul Resurrected, even more so than Soul Avenged because we didn't have the handicap of not knowing about their world. Fully verse in the Wrath Demons, we dive right in and get to all the delicious dark goodness. Logan was a tough nut to crack, yes he was an asshole, but did it stop me from falling for him, not at all. Calla was thought to be a fragile innocent girl, when in fact is a fiery puzzle piece who is capable of anything.

We get to know more about the Wrath Demons and their enemies, revisit with Ayden and Kane and yes, I still have a lady boner for Gavin, whose book is up next. And you know who else is back, Xander from The Fallen… *squee*! I'm super excited to have found another series that I can lose my self in, I just wish I had more patience to wait, Gavin's book can't get here soon enough!

I was so happy to finally get to read this one. I absolutely loved the first book of the series and this one was just as awesome. It begins right where the last book left off. Logan has just been resurrected, thanks to Calla's Alexi blood. The Alexi have scattered around the city and their numbers are dwindling. There also seems to be a species they all thought was extinct that has come back and is wreaking havoc.

It was a bit hard for me to get into for me. Not because it was boring, because it wasn't at all, but because I had forgotten a few things about this world. Once I started picking up on things and being reintroduced to it all, I was able to get back into the flow and loved every moment of it. So, I would recommend you to read the previous book before starting this one.

I remember from the first book that there seemed to be something between Logan and Calla, a mutual attraction. In this book, Logan resents Calla for everything that happens to him. He was stabbed saving her, which caused his death in the first place, and now he is temporarily paralyzed after coming back to life. He tells himself over and over that he hates her. He is mean and that pissed me off so much. He was a real jerk and she just let him treat like that. I almost hated Logan, but once you understand why he is the way he is, it just all made sense. He has been living numb and is still tortured by his past, which was just horrible. But Calla seems to be the only one to make him FEEL, something he hasn't done in a long time. No matter how much he denied, he knew he felt something for Calla and just wanted to keep her safe. Maybe even make her his. Then I couldn't help but love Logan. He was such a lovable jackass, an alpha, and very protective. He had a lot of things to overcome and I'm glad that Calla was able to help him with that a bit. I was so saddened by his upbringing. It really broke my heart. I was so digusted by the woman that called herself his mother. I am so happy that Logan turned out to be better than I initially thought. He was just wonderful and smoking HOT!! And so perfect for Calla. Loved him.

Calla was one of Wade's Alexi. We already know that she had to go through some tough stuff because of Wade. And now that he is dead, she is free. But She seeks revenge on the person responisble for her brother's death. I LOVED Calla. She seemed shy and meek on the surface but she had a silent strength that I really enjoyed. And she was totally badass during the fighting scenes. I loved how she never gave up. I also loved the lengths she would go to protect those she cares about. In this book we get a little more insight about her past, the one she was forced to forget. I felt for her and the happy life she once had, before becoming an Alexi. And then her life in the hands of Wade was terrible. He was a sick bastard. She felt ashamed about that time in her life. She never felt truly desired by anyone, just embarrassment and humiliated. Logan changes that for her. She has hope that he actually cares about her and is stirring feelings in her that she didn't think she would ever feel. He finds out what honest affection is like as well as passion. There were few times where Calla would make dumb decisions and it would frustrate me, but she was such an awesome character. I hope these great female characters become a trend in the series.

Whenever Logan and Calla would be alone in a room together things would spark like crazy. They. Were. Intense. I loved every moment of it. The steam is definitely higher for me in this book than the last. Logan was super sexy and amazing. The things he would do and say, had me blissfully happy and panting. I couldn't put this down.

The other brothers I still very much love. Zeke is my favourite, for sure. He is the dirty mouthed man-whore with a kind and charming personality. He has me under his spell. I was so upset by what happened to him in this book. I can't wait to read his book and Gavin's. I am still very much curious about them all. So, I can't wait. Things picked up near the end, I was glued to the book to find out what would happen. I liked the action scenes, just as much as I did the first, they were so cool. The description was perfectly written so you can really visualize everything that is going on. This book has no cliffhanger, for which I was so happy with. The ending was so awesome... and sweet... and romantic... and just great. I was smiling so big. Loved the hea Logan and Calla had, they deserved it. The epilogue left me wanting more of this series. I am guessing Calix is next and I can't wait to read that. I am loving the series so far and hope it continues that way with the future book. Loved it! I recommend this to all you paranormal romance lovers out there.

In Logan’s words… Holy cock sucking gods of mercy, I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!

 photo SoulResurrectedcoverandlogofinal_zpsb48de28c.jpg

Reading PNR is like going home for me; PNR started this whole book obsession that I wear like a badge of honor. Keri Lake has written a SUPERB 2ND installment in her Sons of Wrath series. You get action, romance, a strong H/h and of course you meet some interesting characters whom I know will make future appearances in the series.

 photo Soulresurrectedcastingfinal_zps61b880b1.jpg

“For most females I’m relatively harmless. But it seems my nightmares have an affinity for you—evil seeking out purity, or some shit. I got an addiction to your scent, your touch, which has rendered me somewhat mad, you could say.” -Logan

In Soul Avenged we met Logan, son of Wrath and Calla a female Alexi(the Alexi is an army of soldiers bred to slay lycans.) You quickly learn that Logan is a wild card, you never really know what to expect from him, he is cocky, short tempered and totally unapologetic. Oh and just like his older brother Gavin he possesses a charm that leaves you wanting more..

‘My shield was impenetrable. Impenetrable.’ – Logan’s inner monologue

Logan does something in Soul Avenged that positions Calla as his savior and a “bond” is formed in the process. When Soul Resurrected opens, Logan is learning just how tight the new bond has formed and he is NOT happy about it. This in turn causes him to push Calla away.

Soul Resurrected

Hate and vengeance
The hot as all hell demon getting under her skin is the least of Calla’s worries. What she wants is vengeance against those who betrayed her and she has every intention of getting it. Attempting to put the pull she feels towards Logan out of her mind is easier said than done. Especially when said demon gives in to what is right in front of him.

‘Touched.
He’d actually felt her fingers—registered in both his body and his mind.
It’d been years since a woman’s fingertips had penetrated the numbness.’
-Logan

Logan’s back story is revealed methodically throughout the book. You slowly get around to why he has been so numb for so long. It literally had my stomach in knots.

 photo SoulresurrectedLOGANPIC_zps407be331.jpg

“Queen protects the King, Remember” -Calla

FAVE LINE (I have many but I chose ONE)
“Every man has the potential to be dangerous.” Her eyes drilled into Calla’s.
“Threaten what’s theirs, and they all become killers.”
-Ayden

The Sons of Wrath

Wrath Demons: Warriors of vengeance; sons of the demon prince, Wrath; punishers to those who’ve wronged; each specializes in a form of mental or physical pain

Now, I’m not positive but I think they all possess gifts. Though only a few have been mentioned
Gavin- is the eldest son of Wrath and he has visions of the future. Gavin is also my FAVE brother
Logan- I believe is the youngest brother and he has the ability to feel/sense sins
Calix- is half Incubi he can feed off sexual energy and being half Incubi also comes the ability to erase memories
Zayne- is a soul seer, he has the ability to tell if one is lying and more though I do not have details.
Zeke- I do not recall a gift being mentioned for him, yet. He is also a twin, Zayne’s twin.
Ferno – well like his name he can cause a fiery blaze taking out all in his path.
Mad Dog - I do not recall a gift being mentioned for him, yet.

My Thoughts(Careful readers some may see this as spoilery though I do not give specifics)
There are quite a few open character story lines; the one that intrigues me most is Gavin’s and not just because he is my favorite brother. He has two situations to contend with and I am extremely curious to see how each will play out.

Then we have Calla, I get the feeling her story is far from over and it is possible she will play a bigger role in future books.
Then there are these key players; some we met in book one(Soul Avenged) and some are new.. However each will most likely have recurring roles in future books.

Key players – Lyric, Marrick, Matthias, Sabelle, and Cefirina.
WAIT. I almost forgot about Ava, definitely can't wait to see what happens with her.

Another issue..
The Sang? What role will they play and are they evolving in to a bigger problem, most likely. So the real question is how will this affect the son’s of Wrath.

Overall thoughts
EXCELLENT world building!!! I think Keri Lake did an AWESOME job, she held my complete attention the entire book and I did lots of highlighting, lol! The story is creatively layered, with multiple pov’s and multiple story lines that are masterfully weaved together. I also felt like at one point Lake took a risk with Calla’s character...sooo like I mentioned before there will be more for Calla I'm sure.

The only downside is I wish we got a little more Ayden and Kane.

Soul Enslaved (Gavin’s book) is one of my most HIGHLY anticipated books for 2014

My Ratings
Characters- Sexy, Lovable and Mysterious
Writing Style- Top notch! Sucks you right in!
Plot/Storyline- Strategic, Layered, with a touch of mystery! Definitely leaves you wanting MORE!
Steam Factor- High/Very Steamy on a scale of 1-10 I say 8.5
Overall- I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!!

Now go forth and read. Then come tell us about it on Goodreads!

FOUR TO FOUR AND A HALF STARS!

So, one day while I was getting ready for work, I had the marvellous idea that I was going to rebel against all that is right in the world and bludge at work, doing nothing but reading straight from my kindle, which I was gonna stealthily hide under my computer monitor at work.

Now, let me tell you something about working in a doctor's office. DON'T BLOODY READ YOUR KINDLE WHILE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING. When you grin like a maniac because your assholelustaemia is working overtime, patients will freak. When you fan yourself frantically in an air conditioned reception because sexy times are oh so sexy, the doctor is going to frown at you worriedly. When you answer the phone and accidentally introduce yourself as a character you just read about, you know you've created a mess that's gonna take some amazing creativity to explain away.

Soul Resurrected is the book I almost got fired forLogan's story, one of the demon Wrath brothers that was introduced in Soul Avenged. He's back and even more of an asshole than in the previous book, only this time, his target isn't Kane but Calla, the blonde former Alexi soldier whose virgin blood brings him back to life. A bond is forged between the two, one that has both of them on edge, but as the two work closely together, they come to realise that perhaps this bond isn't such a bad thing after all.

There's a hell of a lot more in this second book. Hell of a lot more violence, hell of a lot more gruesomeness, hell of a lot more romance, hell of a lot more action and a hell of a lot more surprises to deal with. I enjoyed it all, gobbling it up at work and at home until I finished it.

Logan is an amazing hero. He's hard to love at first, his ill-mannered mouth much in need of a filter. But as his story unfolds and the shame of his past becomes clear, you can't help but feel for him, to hope that he overcomes the darkness of his past and embrace this bond that he has with Calla. Calla was, for the most part, a great heroine. I did enjoy how she tried to stand her ground against Logan, and her final fight scene was the most kick ass thing I've read all year, but I had a bit of a problem with some of the stupid decisions that she makes, which ultimately had me docking half a star overall.

The other thing that I wasn't 100% on was Logan's change of heart towards Calla. It didn't quite feel natural to me. It honestly seemed like he just woke up one day and decided, OK, yeah, I like you, so let's have ourselves some sexual therapy, I'm sure we'll be able to work out all our differences that way [insert sly grin]. But I can't complain much since there were some really great quotes that my hopeless heart clenched over once Logan has his change of heart.
"So many times I wondered why death hadn't claimed me. To spend a lifetime never feeling, never loving. What could possibly be left but a hollow void?"

Overall, a very enjoyable read! If you haven't read this series yet I'd recommend you give it a try. The third book (not counting the novella) is planned to be released in a few more weeks so now would be the perfect time to get into it.

As Cliche as it sounds, Soul Resurrected was a gripping read. It “gripped” my full attention from the beginning until the end. Ms. Lake has outdone herself making this series a solid addition to the Paranormal Romance Genre.

Soul Resurrected is the second installment of Sons of Wrath series and it started shortly after the last book had ended. Ayden, Kayne and the Wrath brothers had stopped the Alexi and they are close to extinction. However, the aftermath of the chaos still lingers. Plenty of Alexis are still scattered about but the real threat lies in an even deadlier enemy. And this time, it’s Ayden helping the Sons of Wrath.

To be honest there were things about this world that I have forgotten. But Ms. Lake did a beautiful job with the recap and reintroducing the Sons of Wrath along with Ayden and Kane. She did a great job with the world building as well. I think I was drawn to that the most. She even had widened this world by adding more super naturals and a linear Demon world where Logan grew up in. I do have to warn readers of how graphic this novel is. It can get pretty gruesome.

If you read the Soul Avenged, you know that Calla and Logan had a connection that was undeniable…emotionally and most definitely physically. Saving each other’s life can do that, no doubt. But that’s pretty much where there relationship kicks off. You would think they would start their relationship as easy as saving each other’s lives. Instead, they resented each other. Let me rephrase that Logan resented Calla. At first I just didn’t understand but in his defense there was a perfectly good reason for his annoyance. I almost didn’t like Logan because of his treatment of Calla. He was hurtful and demeaning and poor Calla, just took it all.

Calla was such a contradiction of vulnerability and kickass heroine. As an Alexi, she was well trained to hunt and fight but when others treated her bad. She simply just took it all in. I was sometimes frustrated with her. But then again I don’t blame her as she just wanted to fit it. Her past wasn’t the prettiest but when she started standing up for herself, she starting earning my respect. She certainly started getting it from Logan.

I enjoyed Calla and Logan’s story, they had a rough beginning but the end result was very romantic. I certainly want to see more of that from the rest of the brothers.

Speaking of which, there are more brothers that was added to the story. Ferno and Maddox are back and they are taking their place right beside the rest of the Wrath Brothers. Ferno in particular intrigues me. Something about his persona and powers that just grabs my attention. But not as much as Zeke. He certainly made his presence in the beginning of this book. Just like in Soul Avenged, Zeke is ever so flirty. I just love that words that came out of that mouth of his. Then Ms. Lakes takes him out of the picture leaving me wanting more. What a tease! I do love that she gave this novel multiple POVs letting the readers get to know the main characters. Gavin and Calix also made their presence but as far as I know Gavin’s story will be next.

I loved that I started reading this series from he very beginning. I feel like I’m witnessing the start of what I’m predicting to be an epic series. If you like a good PNR Read, Ms. lake will not disappoint you.

I skimmed it. I had no patience or care to read everything.

The plot makes no sense and it is boring. The action scenes are way too long. There is way too much unnecessary stuff everywhere.
The bad guys are lame and so are they reasoning and actions.

Logan is an asshole and extremely weak minded, I have no idea why Calla likes him other than he is hot.
The romance has nice elements to it but also fucked up ones. It could have been great, but it ended up being a mess without fundaments to hold it strong and it just doesn’t work for me.

Messy and senseless.

BR with Jo and Sammy!!

If you have not read Soul Avenged, be warned that this review may contain a few spoilers from that book!!

Soul Resurrected is Logan and Calla's story. Logan is a Son of Wrath demon and Calla is an Alexi, which is a group of soldiers that are created to slay lycans. In Soul Avenged, Logan had risked his life and gotten killed in the process trying to save Calla from Draven. Gavin (another Son of Wrath) sacrificed something to bring Logan back from the dead and Calla assisted in her own way in helping to bring Logan back. Calla is a virgin and on top of Gavin's sacrifice, it took the blood of a virgin (Calla's) to bring him back.

In Soul Resurrected, Logan is back and he is angry with Calla and angry with himself for intervening and saving Calla and getting killed. He wants revenge against Draven for killing him. Calla is looking for revenge as well. She blames Draven for not only killing Logan, but also blames him for her brother's death.

There is a situation that happens where Calla and Zeke are taken hostage by an Enforcer. They don't quite know why the Enforcer went after Calla and Zeke, but it will be explained over time in the book. Calla gets free eventually with Zeke's help, but Zeke is still in the hands of the Enforcer and Enforcers are known to drag out torture and inflict horrific pain upon their victims. They commit horrific acts to anyone who is held captive. When Calla reaches Ayden (an Alexi introduced in Soul Avenged) and the other Sons of Wrath, some of them go back to get Zeke, only to discover he is no longer where Calla left him behind.

Logan is bitter with Calla over his brother being taken and remaining missing. He doesn't care that Zeke insisted that Calla leave and helped in her escape, he is mad that his brother is missing and as far as he is concerned, it is her fault.

Over time Logan develops feelings for Calla. Calla is also attracted to Logan. Over time, their relationship grows and things progress between them. He's still upset over Zeke's disappearance, but he is having a hard time denying his feelings for Calla.

Logan has lead a misruble life. He has a horrific past and is bitter and hateful because of it. He doesn't believe in love. His past has scarred him emotionally (as well as physically) and he has walls up because of it. He has a hard time opening up to anyone.

Calla has a horrific past herself. She's been put through things in her life since becoming an Alexi soldier that have left her scarred. Despite her feelings for Logan, she too has a hard time holding back the horrible memories that haunt her of what happened to her at the hands of Wade (he was the leader of the Alexi in Soul Avenged. She has to work past all her issues to be able to trust someone when she never has been able to before.

There is so much action in this book, I cannot even begin to cover it. We are introduced to another species that was believed to be extinct and there is someone who is turning people into these creatures. Someone in the book will get captured. Will they make it out alive, or will they end up turning into these creatures that seem to cause nothing but bloodshed? There is another twist in the book with Logan and Calla and their relationship takes an unexpected turn. Will they both survive and end up together in the end? What is Zeke's fate? There is so much to this story that you just have to read it to find out what happens!!

I can't wait for the next book in the series to be released! If you have not tried this series, I'd highly recommend it if you love paranormal romances with twists that will keep you guessing until the very end!

***This was a BR with Sara and Sammy***

Another great book in the "Sons of Wrath" series. In order to understand what is happening in "Soul Resurrected", it is important that you read "Soul Avenged" first. The book seemed slower paced for me at the beginning. I did like however the humor, drama and suspense that the book held. There were parts of the book that were gut wrenching but also held some quite beautiful and sometimes pretty "hot" scenes.

In "Soul Avenged" we met Logan, son of Wrath and Calla a female Alexi(the Alexi is an army of soldiers bred to slay lycans.) Soul Resurrected continues with Logan and Calla's story.

Logan is like a loose cannon. He is very unpredictable and it doesn't take much to set him off. Even though he is short tempered and you don't know how he is going to react to any situation, he also has a way about him that draws you in.

Calla is an Alexi soldier and is very good at being one. She has a strength about her but at the same time a side to her that is very fragile and vulnerable. She has learned to not let anyone walk all over her and that included Logan.

Logan and Calla have a love/hate relationship. When they are around each other it is very explosive in one way or the other. A "bond" developed between the two of them and Logan is in denial about his feelings for Calla. Logan tries everything he can think of to push Calla away. Calla is also set on trying to stay away from Logan as much as possible, but is drawn to him and is conflicted with her feelings also.

The lengths that they both go through to deny their feelings is quite humorous, but the feelings that they share is too strong and they find themselves in situations where they are unable to deny each other.

You will learn more about Logan's past and what happened to him in the past that has made him hardened and push people away. The unspeakable acts that he endured years before have ruined him for any type of relationship with others and especially with any woman. Or have they?

Calla also has a history that has prevented her from being able to establish a relationship with anyone, that is until Logan comes along.

I loved getting to learn more about the Sons of Wrath. The way they lived, their rules that they lived by and their fierce loyalty to one another. I am looking forward to the next book in the series and learning more about Gavin.

Some quotes I loved in the book:

"Damn, baby, might I say you are looking fine this evening."
"If you're not sitting baby Brother tonight, maybe we can meet up later for a night cap?"

"You're such a man-whore."

“For most females I’m relatively harmless. But it seems my nightmares have an affinity for you—evil seeking out purity, or some shit. I got an addiction to your scent, your touch, which has rendered me somewhat mad, you could say.”

"You own my heart, Calla. It's a damaged, bandaged fuckin' mess, but it belongs to you, and only you, eternally,"

"Gods, woman. You are everything to me."

A kickass follow up for the Sons of Wrath series. This time we got Logan, the asshole extraordinaire who just hates everyone and spoiling for a fight. He was a damaged character with an awful past, but instead of being reclusive, he just want to go out and hit something.

"If I could kick your nuts up into your throat right now, I would."

"Get off of me, shithead, before I slam you into the wall."

In order to really understand the world building and the player in the plot, you will have to read Book 1 because there is no info dumping or recap by Keri Lake.

*contain spoiler from Book 1

Calla is an Alexi aka Lycan slayer who used her virgin blood to resurrect Logan from death. He was in the predicament due to saving Calla from Draven. It sounds romantic, yet when Logan recover, he was pissed with the situation. He hates Calla and make sure she knows it.

This is the first time whereby I actually find myself enjoying the multiple POV and even dying to get back to Zeke's scene. Zeke was captured by the bounty hunter in the beginning and all the brothers were trying to locate him. Meanwhile, we get some insight into what is happening with Zeke and *wink wink* his potential new romantic interest.

"I'm thinking of ditching the vengeance biz and starting my own brand of therapy. Ride your worries away. A shot of vitamin Z and you'll be feeling hella good." ~ Zeke

I'm loving each of the Sons of Wrath was being featured and it kind of gave me the BDB vibe. I'm only slightly disappointed that Ayden and Kane have such a low influence in the plot. They were practically extras, instead of supporting characters.

I felt like Keri had an affinity towards haters to lovers story line. This is just a role reversal to Book 1. Previously it was Ayden hating Kane because he is a Lycan. Now is Logan hating Calla because.... well, he just hates everyone.

Initially, Calla was afraid of Logan because he was menacing as hell. But later she did learn to stand up to him instead of getting bullied. Her presence unsettled Logan, as he found out that he can feel her touch. Logan's past was a mystery that was slowly being revealed to us, apparently he had been cursed.

I'm not really buying Calla as the heroine even after I finish the book. She came off as weak and naive in the beginning and I didn't see much growth in her character towards the end. She is not even that kickass compare to Ayden. I mean she did try to fight for Logan, but only in a very minimum sense. As compare to Logan who once he admitted to fell more for Calla, I felt he really give in his 100% to make the relationship works and survive through the ups and downs.

"I want to tear you open and sew myself inside of you forever."

Honestly, there were so many things that happened in this book with the lycan, the Alexi, the shady pharmaceutical company and the creepy invisible flashing monster, Sang. This make the romance lack a proper build up, but Keri Lake manage to make it work and sold it by just having some incredible sex. During the first kissing scene, I swear I can't breath. It was so freaking intense. Same goes to the sex scenes. This is why I love PNR, the sex is obviously beyond normal mortal comprehension.

"You own my heart, Calla. It's damaged, bandaged fuckin' mess, but it belongs to you, and only you, eternally."

I'm really looking forward for Gavin's book with Sabelle, the succubus, and then there are Zeke and the female Fallen, and of course Ferno who had an affinity to mutilate himself.

I know that I’ll be in minority here with my rating, but I couldn’t do differently.

Let me tell you first that I loved the first book Soul Avenged, where the story was centered on Ayden and Kane.
Here we have Logan and Calla’s story. But…

I didn’t like Calla. She has too many TSTL moment here. She’s convinced that she’s a strong Alexi warrior, but she’s not! Still nothing can convince her of that. So she does some really stupid things that get many people (demons) in danger. Even if when she realized that what she did was wrong and had heavy consequences, next time she doesn’t think and learn her lesson, but does again something stupid. And again, again, again! Stupid girl, learn something!!!!

Sometimes she reminds me of a kitten: all tiny sharp claws and meows, but everybody could just swat her away easily.

Also her character is not consistent: one time she’s all sweet, demure, shy and next she goes “I’ll chop you head”. She gives Logan contradictory signals: one moment she’s clinging, the next is “don’t touch me you filthy demon”, the next is “I want your help” and next “go away I don’t want to hurt you”…

Poor Logan, he’s already confused by all that’s happened in his past, and she just adds to it! I get that he doesn’t understand what’s happening!

Also the brothers irked me. Are they or are they not the most dangerous demons?
Every time something happened they reacted like humans chasing their own tail around.

Why don’t they use those powers??!! There’s one instance when Logan used his power and it was so meah that I wanted to cry! I would have done better!

At the end both Logan and Calla redeem themselves somewhat, but not enough for me!

I will read the next book, because I’m curious about Gavin and Lyric. Also the world building was good and the pace was good, but less useless rambling around chasing stupid tips and more intelligent actions and use of their powers would be nice.

I hope Gavin’s book would be better that way…

I've been waiting for Soul Resurrected for a few months now and Keri sent me the eARC Saturday morning... I've read all Saturday, I haven't done anything of my day and I don't care because it was awesome. This book is FANTASTIC.

I loved Soul Avenged, I really did but Soul Resurrected was so much better for me, I was excited to read about the Sons of Wrath (sure, we see them in the first book but in this one the MC is one of them so we're totally immersed in their world) and I wasn't disappointed at all, Keri did an AMAZING job and I can't thank her enough for it because Soul Resurrected is one of the best book I've read this year.

If you love the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward you will love the Sons of Wrath series. It's not the same, but Keri's writing reminded me of JR's writing and the Wrath brothers are a bit like the Vampires. I'm saying that in a good way, Keri's characters and world are completely different but, like I said, at times, it did make me think of the BDB series.
So if you're a fan, read this series because you will LOVE IT. And even if you're not a fan, read this series anyway because it's still different and it's so awesome.

To understand this book well you have to read the first one, I think you can read it as a stand-alone but it's such a better read if you've read Soul Avenged before because you'll understand everything much better. And just because the first book is awesome as well.
I'm sorry if some of my explanations are vague but I don't want to write any kind of spoilers about the first book and especially about this one. If you've read Soul Avenged you'll probably understand but if you haven't well... you'll be a bit confused lol.
*DREAMY SIGH* I love Logan...He's fucked up. Not just a little bit fucked up but A LOT fucked up, but that's why I love him so much (actually he made me think of Zsadist from the BDB series).
Logan is a tortured hero, he's really scarred inside, poor baby had the worst life. It was kinda hard to read about it...
And Calla, sweet Calla, she's so fragile, when you compare her to him they're like complete opposite. She's innocent and pure and he is everything but that, lol. I mean, she had a hard life too, she was part of the Alexi (the bad guys) and then she was rescued by the brothers but during her time with the Alexi, Wade (the batshit crazy/psycho boss) abused her... So, she and Logan have some things in common.

Their relationship was not easy. At first they hate each other... Okay, hate is a big word but Logan is furious at her because of the events of the first book, he's really harsh with her... Seriously, at the beginning he is such a bastard with Calla.
And her, well, she's attracted to him. She tries not to be because he's horrible with her and all but the attraction between them is undeniable. Even he can't resist it for long.
I loved reading about them, they had such a beautiful and strong relationship. Like I said, it wasn't easy but when they finally found each other, it was perfect.
I love MCs like Logan, he's angry all the time and moody and broken but he still has a soft side. And Logan's soft side is Calla. She put him back together and he did the same for her, because she's broken in her own way too.

Logan is not a person who loves easily, with the life he had, he's wary of people and he loses himself in pain and combat (if that makes any sense), but he does love his brothers and when he loves he loves fiercely. He's very loyal and with Calla he can even be sweet...
Calla is very different from Logan, because, even though she's grieving (she lost her brother), even if she has a hard past, she's not closed off like him. She cares about people, she cares about the brothers actually. She's more understanding, she understands Logan and she tries to make him feel better.

Soul Resurrected is less focused on the werewolves/lycans, it's more focused on the MCs and the Wrath brothers. This book is also much darker and mature than the first one (in my opinion).

I loved reading more about Zeke, he's the man-whore of the house but he's also very funny and caring. I can't wait to read his book, because with what happened to him in this one, I'm really curious about what Keri is gonna do with him.
We also meet the two missing brothers (they weren't present in the first book), Ferno and Maddox. That was really interesting lol... Maddox seems very funny, a bit like Zeke but Ferno is different. He's really intense and well, tortured.
I'm actually looking forward to read all the brothers' books, I like them all and I'm so curious about all of them. They're all interesting and different, they all have their own personality and their own experiences and I just can't wait for the next book.
Next one is Gavin's and I am exciiiteedd! We have a bit of Gavin's POV in Soul Resurrected and let me tell you, he is HAWT *drools*.
Zayne (Zeke's twin) intrigues me. I mean, he is so SAD and broken and UGH, I just want to hug him and make him feel better (he lost his mate). I wonder what Keri is going to do with him...
Oh and new characters are introduced too! I did liked Lyric and I wonder if Keri will make her a MC for another book!

This book has a great ending but there are still so many questions unanswered, the very end with Ava is frustrating because you're left wondering what's going to happen to her.
I haven't talk about the plot, because yeah, it's the story of Logan and Calla but there is a story behind, a very interesting and twisted story lol.
In book one it was the Alexi and the lycans but in this one it's a fallen angel named Ryke. This guy is SICK. Fallen angels in general in this world are a bit twisted and all but Ryke is a sick bastard.
The plot, like I said, was really interesting, it was well done because it had a large place in the story but Logan and Calla stayed the main focus. (is that understandable lol?)

I'm sorry, I have so much to say without writing any spoilers so if I don't make any sense to you, I apologize lol.

Anyhoo, this book made me feel so much. I was happy, I was intrigued, I was sad, I was scared, I was angry at Logan and Calla because they're good characters but they're not flawless and sometimes I just wanted to shake them and make them see clearly.
Still, I was so happy with the ending (for them). Because it wasn't easy, when I thought they could finally be together, something else was in their way but when they FINALLY, FOR REAL, got together it was P.E.R.F.E.C.T.

Keri writes amazingly, she describes everything so well and that is important. The battles were amazing. Not super long but very well described and everything was clear in my mind when I was reading this book.
She created a great universe with amazing characters and you can do nothing but fall in love with all of it.

When I first found out that Keri Lake’s Sons of Wrath series was going to switch from a female Alexi’s POV to that of a male demon’s I had some concerns. Paranormal Romances typically follow a similar pattern by featuring a different couple in each installment. Urban Fantasies on the other hand, usually offer a more interconnected story arc so, with good reason, I was worried that these books were going to lose some of their gritty feel by focusing too much on the romance. There is a love story blended into the plot line but other than that and the supernatural elements that’s where the parallels between these two genres end. Soul Resurrected is dark, raw and, at times downright gruesome while somehow also succeeding at being smokin’ hot; an unlikely combination that works for Keri Lake.

The first half of this novel was slower paced than I would have liked; it felt weighed down by the character development and the plot set-up was too drawn out in my opinion. However, when the action does finally kick in, this book’s entertainment factor skyrockets. After trudging through the first 200 pages I suddenly found myself glued to my eReader until I had read the very last page. I enjoyed the dual POV narration because, with characters as complex as Logan and Calla, the only way to truly understand them is to see the world through their eyes. The world-building and dark tone continues to be the shining stars of this series; their uniqueness and brilliance are what keeps me coming back for more.

I first picked-up Soul Avenged because of Lake’s Lycans and even though they turned out to be a little eviler than I would have liked; that still doesn’t change the fact that I have a soft spot for sexy shifters. Going into this second installment I didn’t have high hopes of her wolves redeeming themselves so when Keri introduced the Pureblood Pack I was psyched about the possibility of good werewolves! I was thrilled to see the Lycans play a larger role in this novel and I think it also bodes well for the future of this series. In Soul Resurrected Lake expands upon their mythology and even works a wolfish curve ball into this story’s plot line. I still wouldn’t go so far as to call this a werewolf series but there are definitely enough furry elements to keep me happy!

Logan and Calla are two very broken characters but in the Sons of Wrath universe that’s pretty much the norm. You can’t be an Alexi soldier or a demon of the underworld without having a least one deep, dark secret. I enjoyed watching these two try to fix each other; it was like passing an accident on the highway, gruesome but for some reason you just can’t look away. I loved Calla’s quiet strength and Logan’s twisted sense of right and wrong; together they make the perfect dysfunctional couple! The chemistry between these two is explosive and there’s a “sex therapy” session that you definitely won’t want to miss!

Soul Resurrected starts off slow but finishes strong thanks to its unpredictable plot and jaw dropping revelations; a great follow-up installment!

A gritty, suspenseful, a sinfully and insanely good paranormal series. A must read IMO at least.

Ms. Lake has created a truly unique series you can’t just get enough of. I was on the edge of my seat so many times especially towards the end of the book.

Calla is an Alexi soldier who was betrayed by her own people but saved by the sons of wrath. I liked Calla. She is strong and sassy yet has a certain vulnerability about her that didn’t get in the way of her doing what she had to do. She is also a mini martyr.

A chain of events has been set off where she has to save Logan’s life. Only virgin blood will do.
Logan one of the sons of wrath is not happy to be laid up with nearly dying and all that and at least of all feeling something with the annoying Alexi soldier where he embraces the numbness in full force. But with time and the feelings that he can be touched by Calla he starts to feel and he can’t leave her alone.

They don’t get off to the best start but with time they work together to find Zeke and so their love develops. They is so much sick shite in the book and well at times it was so gritty but I just couldn’t get enough of all the characters.

My one complaint. What happens after with her being a sang? Or will that come later in the series? Left open somewhat open ended.

This was one of my most-anticipated reads of the year, and I can say without a doubt it was some of the best hours I’ve ever spent reading! After devouring the first book in the Sons of Wrath series, I was so excited to experience more of Keri Lake’s brilliantly gruesome and mesmerizing world; knowing that the Wrath demon brothers were taking center stage this time around had made the wait maddening! They’re vengeful and fierce, devoted to those they love, and that perfect combination of ‘more than meets the eye’ and uber-sex god on the surface, and I don’t think I’ll ever get enough!
The Wrath brothers had me completely captivated from the moment we met them in this series, so I dove headfirst into angry and tortured Logan’s story. He’d endured more pain and torment than one could imagine, and he was scarred both inside and out as a result. Even with his cold and menacing exterior, though, I loved this battered man. He was the ultimate misunderstood warrior, never having anyone really care about him and using that to form a massive wall around his heart. After coming back from the dead thanks to the virgin blood of the beautiful Calla (I LOVED this twist), he’s messed up in the head thanks to their blood bond and has one undeniable lust for this woman he wants to hate. She was the one who’d gotten him killed, stabbed by the Demortis, and the resentment coming from Logan was palpable. It made for some incredibly hot sexual tension as they both attempted to deny what they were craving so desperately, and the blood they shared gave them a connection that took them down a path to something much deeper.
As much as Logan’s past was something of nightmares, Calla’s wasn’t much better; as what she’s endured is slowly revealed, she moved higher and higher up the ‘bad-ass heroine’ pedestal for me! Used and abused and turned into a soldier for the Alexi, her life was miserable enough to make her consider ending things herself. But she persevered, and lived to fight another day, and thankfully cross paths with a demon who oozed sex appeal even when he was slinging insults her way. She longed for someone to really love her for the woman she was, and I loved watching Logan realize that it was exactly what she deserved!
We get a closer look at all of the Wrath demons this time around, and I can’t say which one fascinates me more because I’m seriously dying to get in each and every one of their heads!! From the heartbroken Zayne is barely existing after the loss of his mate, to dependable big brother Gavin who has found himself in one hell of a tough spot, they all are equally remarkable characters that are sure to keep the Sons of Wrath as a front-runner for one of my top favorite paranormal romance series.
Once again there were so many intense, captivating storylines at play, with some of the most unique and flawlessly created supernatural characters I’ve come across. I usually gravitate towards the lighter stories that I can read while multi-tasking, but submersing yourself into this horrifyingly dark world is so addicting that all of the twists and threads weaving together just make it impossible to put down. Logan and Calla faced so many obstacles beyond just their own distrust and feelings of betrayal, and there were dark and sinister plots right under their noses that left them and all of the Wrath brothers in peril. And if the spine-chilling lycans and evil human masterminds weren’t bad enough, a new supernatural species (which was arguably one of the most frightening fictional creature ever created) had been unleashed upon the city. It was gruesome and not for the faint of heart, and I loved every gut-wrenchingly disturbing minute of it!
Soul Resurrected is a passionate, heart-breaking, terrifying saga with characters that will grab you and get under your skin, and a world that is guaranteed to fascinate you as it chills you to the bone. Right up to the very last page, you’ll be on pins and needles as the pieces come together, and the reader is left with an ending that begs for more. I can’t recommend the Sons of Wrath series enough, and I will be once again anxiously awaiting for more from the gifted Keri Lake with Gavin's story next!!

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this title from the author in exchange for an honest review. This has in no way affected my opinion of the book.

If you know me at all, then you’ll have noticed I’m a bit of a cheerleader for Keri Lake’s writing. I cheered for Soul Avenged when that released. And I’ve been doing a little cheering for Soul Resurrected, too—even more so since I always get to read her stuff early (coz, you know, I got connections, ahem). Anyhoo, I was VERY intrigued as to how Soul Resurrected would play out. Sure, we get to meet all of the Wrath demon brothers in Soul Avenged, but the MC for the first title is a female Alexi who just happened to have booked the Wrath Brother’s vengeance services and so was staying at their mansion. This time? Dude, we get a good dose of the brothers on a whole other level of ‘looking from the inside out’.

Yep, Soul Resurrected is written mostly from the dual POV’s of Calla (timid Alexi soldier from SA), and Logan (somewhat dark and twisted and intolerant demon brother with a shadier-than-the-rest past).

Now, I know some of Ms Lake’s readers might be wondering just how she’ll pull off giving us one of the demons at the frontline, and I happen to know Ms Lake is a little nervous about how this book is going to be received. Well, I’m here to stem the concerns—in short, I’m here to set the record straight. So let’s try:

I thought Soul Avenged was pretty awesome. Soul Resurrected was all of that awesome with a dash of warm and intoxicating ambrosia and a slice of lemon to boot.

I LOVED Logan as MC. He is such a freakin’ convoluted character, with some pretty serious shizazzle swimming around in that head of his, that I couldn’t help but want to scoop him up and kiss all of those virtual wounds of his better.

Enter Calla. Because it appears she kind of had the same thoughts on Logan as I did, even if she didn’t seem too keen to act on them at first.

You see, no matter how easy I make it sound above, the relationship and development of such is nowhere near cut and dry.

Because Logan’s body wants Calla’s like nothing else on earth, except he doesn’t want to want her and fights it all the way. And Calla’s body wants Logan’s like nothing else on earth, except she reeeeeaaally doesn’t want to want him (despite how curious he makes her) and so fights it (though, admittedly, not quite as heartedly as Logan does, *snicker*) …. Anyway, I’m sure you can see where I’m going with this.

Yep, the end result is an explosion of heat and unexpected tenderness, as well as a connection of souls on a MAJOR level of like-minded understanding, which delivers us a GREAT relationship the reader will want to devour.

But don’t be fooled into thinking that the heat and snoggery of these two is the bee all and end all of Soul Resurrected (though it certainly kept me on my curling toes)—because this book truly is so much more than that.

The plot. Man, it’s twisted and twisting, and has so many tight threads tying it into Soul Avenged that were not even HINTED at in Soul Avenged so the reader won’t see them coming. I mean, the book is FULL of unexpected turns, kidnappings (yes, plural), violence, sick and downright scary minds, new supernatural creatures that expose just how deep into the darkness Keri Lake’s imagination is willing to tread, betrayal, LOVE, the testing of relationships, revelations, HOTNESS, reveals, GREAT character development, and … well, Logan—ha!

For any readers out there (familiar with Soul Avenged) who’re worried about Calla being strong enough as supporting MC? Dudes, you can kick those worries to the kerb. Her growth in this book this so awesome, you’d have to be pretty blind not to notice it. I loved her as female counterpart—I’ve so far read Soul Resurrected TWICE and would willingly do so all over again. Now … for goodness sake, WHERE’S BOOK THREE!?

Loved Logan and Calla!

I confess, I enjoyed this book quite a bit more than the first. I just enjoyed the heck out of both main characters - Logan with his tormented brooding, shameful secrets and distrust of all women. Timid Calla with her recent betrayals, grief over her brother's death and a fierce lioness side just dying to come to the surface (that's a figurative lioness, FYI - you never can tell with these paranormal books!). I found both MCs to be very easy to engage with, and their chemistry was fantastic. This was a seriously scorching book in places!

As with the last book, Soul Avenged, there was a fair bit of setting up and establishing of players before the romance really kicked into gear, but I found it a lot less overwhelming this time since I'm now familiar with the supernatural races Lake has conjured, and the terminology for them. This delayed start also eliminated any hint of the dreaded Instalove that is found in so many Paranormal Romance books. In fact, I was practically salivating for them to begin with the love stuff already! Except, there was just one obstacle to that particular four-letter word - Logan.

Yes, Logan, Logan, Logan... He's delicious to look at, for sure, but a bit of an arrogant pig at the beginning of Soul Resurrected, it has to be said. I mean, Calla saved his life at the end of Soul Avenged! But do you think that earns her a thank you or even a bit of civility? No! Not even close! He's furious with her for, well, everything. Existing, mostly. Then for confusing his feelings and upsetting his carefully constructed Wall Of No Feeling. Heh, heh. I love watching the big grumpy, growly ones get kicked into submission by their females in these type of stories. So much fun!

I really loved Calla too. She was somewhat delicate when compared to Ayden from book one, and has been quite mistreated in her life which has left her with that "kicked puppy" look, but she also had such spirit and determination when it counted and was everything Logan needed. Even if it took him a while to figure it out!

The plot itself was pretty well-paced and held my attention throughout, although I do think these books are a tad over long. Perhaps I only think that because I have a review list as long as my arm and anything over 400 pages seems like a whopper, but I do think they could be tightened up a tiny touch. I'm very interested in seeing the ongoing developments in Lake's overarching background plot, however, and can't wait to see who the next couple will be! My vote is for the oldest Wrath brother, Gavin, and his new debt holder!

If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would!! AMAZING! I'm not real sure, but while reading it I might have agreed to letting my kids join a cult or something... I know there were conversations going on around me, but hell if I know what they were about! I really loved Soul Avenged, but this one just blows it out of the water! We get to know more about the Sons of Wrath, get to know more about their ways and rules, and best of all we get to see more about how they interact with each other! I cannot wait until the next book now!!! I am a full fledged Sons of Wrath lover border-lining on stalker!!! I won an ARC from the Author, and am more than happy to post an honest review!!

5 Sinfully Demonic Stars Spoiler Free Review

Whoa, what an epic book!! It was long, yeah, but it was filled with so much steam, action and surprises that it could have had 600pages and I still would have been happy. Wow, I really love love Logan. In book one, Soul Avenged, we got only a small glimpse of his dominant character and therefore, I was super curious what his deal is… and just let me say, his life was no happy pony farm, or filled with happiness and love. Thus, I can only be super thrilled how the second book of The Sons of Wrath series ended. Did I mention it was epic? Or that it’s smokin’ hot, panty melting hot? I had to take breaks in between to calm down lol.

As usual, Lake didn’t hold back on supernatural characters and many (infamous) sups from book one were present in book 2. I highly advise to read book 1, Soul Avenged first, to get to know/become familiar with all the –side-characters and vocabulary. As in book one, Lake provided a glossary and I love this; it makes reading so much easier, especially if the books terms are not common in our world. With Soul Resurrected, lake delivered again a hands-down awesome paranormal book and way more than just a page turner. I really fell in love with her writing and those demons. It’s a faced paced, action packed read that will leave you wanting more.

Now to the story… I won’t give anything away but don’t miss out and get your hands on book 1 –like in ASAP!!!!

Logan…. he’s somewhat a special kind of man
-he doesn’t do or like weakness
-he doesn’t do love
-he doesn’t do fear
-Women? Only trouble, no thanks

His temper is that from a true Wrath Demon and his body as well –SMOKIN’ LADIES!!! Wish some of those hotties would really roam this earth

But Logan is also damaged … he closed himself off, build his walls so high, that no creature could ever harm him again –especially no female. Even his brother can’t crack through to find out what is wrong with him or prey some past details out of him. Only Gavin knows what dark places his brother went to and what pain he suffered.

”I never believed in love. Mostly because love never believed in me enough to break through my shield. Why believe in something that’s never touched you?”

Sigh… the book starts off with a gut-wrenching prologue that made my heart hurt for Logan. Such a misery he endured in his early childhood and life that I wanted to hug him, kiss and squeeze him to make his pain go away.
So when life screws you over, what do you do? You become untouchable and numb.

”Numbness is my shield. My faith. My reality. More real than the idea that love will ever touch a bastard son, like me.”

Yep, Logan is a tough one to crack open… but his fight to stay untouchable, fearless, and strong got swiped out by one innocent girl, Calla.

Calla was everything Logan wasn’t. She was pure, beautiful from the in and outside, and too good for a bastard like him.
We met Calla in book one; she too is an Alexi and as we learn the end of Soul Avenged those two will share a unique and significant bond that will forever change their life.

I was either laughing or swooning while reading this book. Towards the end I was holding my breath and prayed things will turn out good –so yeah I was on edge. But needless to say, I enjoyed this book a lot. I love Logan and of course Gavin. I’m soo curious and excited to read Gavin’s book as well as to find out the stories of his other handsome brothers. I definitely recommend Lake’s Sons of Wrath books if you want to read a great paranormal book, a story that has its twist and turns, and with a load of action and hotness!!

My rating: 3.75 out of 5 stars

"Don't leave. Please don't leave. You could kill me right here, right now. Death by your hands, Calla. Your touch I wouldn't fight it. Just, please, don't leave."

~Logan

***Please note, book was gifted by the author in exchange for an honest review***

Soul Resurrected is the second installment of the Sons of Wrath series by Keri Lake and picks up right where book 1, Soul Avenged, left off. If you have yet to get a taste of this series, I suggest you get on that, like...yesterday. You can read my 5 star review HERE.

Logan, my dear sweet, stubborn, brooding, kind of an ass, Logan...

description

and you will too. I really enjoyed the growth of this character. I can tolerate the mega alpha male who's a bitter ass and makes the girls cry as long as I get a glimpse of his heart and soul that explains some things but doesn't just give him an "out". Logan is significantly damaged, he truly is but thankfully, our heroine, Calla, isn't a weak woman, nor does she take his shit simply because he's "hot". We need more of that, especially in this genre.

As mentioned above, I gave the first book 5 stars so you may be wondering, what went wrong? Well, nothing went "wrong". Soul Resurrected is very fast paced, action packed and will have your inner fan-girl hyperventilating. Logan, sold. Calla, sold. Anna, the resident gossip, sold. I tend to enjoy a great, even mix of urban fantasy and paranormal romance. In this case, it's heavier on the urban fantasy and while not necessarily a bad thing, it can interrupt the flow for me.This is just based on my own personal reading preferences mind you therefore it didn't weigh in on my rating.

Once the romantic aspect of the book started to reveal itself, I couldn't read fast enough. Logan, just...yeah. I only wish it hadn't taken so long to get there. Come to think of it, that may not be completely accurate either. Maybe it just seemed that way because I felt a bit, for the lack of a better term, overwhelmed with the first few chapters. It was a lot of information, characters, twists and turns coming at me all at once. I struggled to get a full handle on everything that was happening. Once I felt "settled", it was a fantastic ride. Ms. Lake has a quick wit and there is an underlining bitchy, snarky tone to her writing that I'm most drawn too. Logan came to life, his strengths, weaknesses and flaws, nothing was spared or sugar coated. Another fascinating aspect of this series is that the there are multiple relationships that pull you in, not just the highlighted romantic one, the bonds between the brothers especially.

I'm not sure which brother is next but I'll gladly take any one of them! Zeke, my poor Zeke. Gavin, what have you done?! I could go on and on... I only hope Ms. Lake writes quickly!

Love is a word that carries on the wind and fades into nothing. Nothing.

These Sons of Wrath are some sexy beasts I tell ya! I think the Black Dagger Brotherhood are starting to get some competition.

Logan is a wee bit of an asshhole, especially when it comes to Calla.

Calla is a virgin soldier with a heart of gold and a broken soul.

However, very quickly things change and Calla gets under Logan's skin and starts to break the chains around Logan's soul creating sensations Logan and Calla didn't even dream of.

Two broken souls make one powerful union.

Once Logan and Calla figure out that together their souls are more powerful than alone. They will fight to the death for what is right....which is being together.

With the Sons of Wrath there is a whole world going on with so many elements that you are enthralled into this urban fantasy waiting for what next for these sexy demons.

I loved Calla and Logan! I know their growth was a fast paced but I did feel like there awakening of each other happened a bit too quickly to fully connect to the potential power of this couple.

Keri Lake has created some sexy brothers and another world where the power of love can defeat the most scariest elements. Can't wait to find out more with this batch of yumminess of the Sons of Wrath. You can't beat the combination of sexy, strong, broken warriors.

If I could give this 10 stars I would!

I was so excited when I found out that Calla and Logan were getting their story in book two of the series. I loved this book. Once I started it, I couldn’t put it down. I stayed up late into the night a couple times because I had to know what happened next. I just loved Calla. She grew so much throughout Soul Resurrected. Logan intrigued me since book one and that didn’t end in book two. I felt like I was experiencing his emotions right along with him while reading this book. His inner turmoil really tugged on my heartstrings. I wanted to reach through my kindle and give him a big hug sometimes. Soul Resurrected is a fast-paced, unpredictable page turner. Keri Lake has a created a wonderful world that sucks the reader in. I can’t wait to get lost in future Sons of Wrath books.

I got a copy in exchange for an honest review

It took me quite some time to read this book, I don't often read books that are as long as this one. This book is darker than the first book, continues the story and makes me want to read even more and learn more about this dark and twisted world.

When I picked up this book I was a bit disapointed I didn't have time to re-read book1, because book 2 picks up right after Soul Avenged ended and continues the story only from slightly different perspectives. This book focusses on Calla and Logan, but there are also other point of views and they kept me wondering who's story would be next, because there is so much going on and there is a lot of set-up for future books too. A lot happens in this book, not only because it's so long, but also because a lot of different things are going on and sometimes it was difficult to see how it all connected and some things only connect at the end of the book and some questions are still there, hoping for answers in future books.

I realy liked Soul Resurrected, I really love Keri her writing style and once I picked it up I wanted to keep reading. Nevertheless this book had some slow moments and sometimes I got a bit frustrated because I couldn't see the significane (yet) of some of the things that happened. From the 50% mark the pace picked really up and I read the last half in 2 or 3 days, while I spend around 7 or 8 days reading the first half. Also Keri knows how to write some great sex scenes. This book is dark and violent and contains some disturbing scenes and some gruesome details I preferred to not have read, but in the end it's also about hope and love. I really liked the ending, it was beautifull and certainly not what I would've expected at the begin of this book.

While I hard this book would be about Logan and Calla I had some of my doubt, I couldn't remember much about Logan from the first book and Calla was only a side character in book 1 and I had hoped this book would be about Gavin, because I am really curious to his story. When I started this book I had no idea how Logan and Calla would ever fall in love, Logan comes over as selfish and even a bit evil and crazy at first and I didn't like him at all. Calla was sweet, but also had her tough side and I actually wanted to wanr her away from Logan and hope she find some good guy somewhere else. Both characters really grew during this book. I had read a review before this which mentioned the character growth, but I hadn't imagined this. Due to the lenght of this book their relationship progresses slowly and also the changes are slowly, but at the end leaves you with 2 characters who developed and grew a lot. That's certainly one of the perks of a long book, their relationship developed believeable and slow. They grew and changed and it all feels real.

Keri has created an awesome and wholesome world in this series and I just keep wanting to learn more and more and the snippets world building whoven throughout the story aren't nearly enough for me. I think this world is fascinating and I want to understand how it all works and how some storylines tie together and what the impact is of some things and I just want to know more. This book certainly answers a lot of my questions about the demons and it was great seeing this story from a demon's point of view and getting a more insider view on all things demon and supernatural. So this book in all adds a lot of world building, but I am still hungry for more.

After reading this book I am still left with a lot of questions and when I saw the mention that the next book wil Gavin's book I am already looking forward to that one. Also there are so many things and storylines and plots set up in this book and I want to know how they all continue and develop.

To conclude: I really enjoyed this book, keri sure knows how to write a great book. The first half felt a bit slow to me, partly due to not re-reading the first book which led to some confusion at the beginning and partly because this book is really long and the second half was paced faster. Also there are a lot of plot lines which not make much sense at the beginning, but later on things come together and start making sense more. I liked how Calla and Logan grew and developed in this book and how at the end I really liked both of them, which at the beginning I wouldn't have imagined. The world building is really well done and this book adds a lot from the demon perspective, although I am still hngry for more. All in all I really enjoyed this book (although I recommend you to(re-)read book 1 before starting this one) and I am realy looking forward to the next book.

Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thus, this is a more thorough review than I'm generally inclined to write since I feel more of a responsibility to convey my opinions. :)

I generally avoid books with sexy dudes on the cover! I aim for books that have a chick with a weapon. Why? I find books with sexy dudes are really just about the romance with a lot of angst and contrived drama meant to provide fodder for the relationship and the action and mystery are lost to plot mechanisms for romance. While I like for there to be some attraction/romance in books, it's really not the key to what connects me to a series. The relationships between all the characters, the world and rules that are built, and the action and mystery are what make me a huge fan of any series.

The first book in this series was a solid 5 for me. It was unique, had great characters that were interesting and clear and tons of action and mystery to go with the bit of romance that came through. This book is more of a 4.5 for me; since half stars aren't an option, I gave it the five on the strength of the first book and my feeling that the series has such great potential.

This book focuses on Logan, who was the most mysterious of the characters from the first book. It took twists and turns that I did not anticipate (yay!) and had layers of complexity to the story. It was engrossing enough to keep me up until 3a last night, when I finally had to given in and sleep even though I was like 80% through the book!

Based on the comments from the author at the end of the book, apparently starting with this book the series will apparently now focus on each of the demons and their stories. If this is the case, then I'm reminded of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Why this is a concern for me is that, while I very much enjoyed many of the books in that series, I'm less enamored with the more recent books. The BDB series is struggling to keep the world and the action fresh and interesting, IMHO.

Keri Lake has done a great job of setting up an interesting world of danger and action with interesting rules that govern and challenge the demons that should make for an excellent series. My hope is that the books will be able to stay focused in the action and world building without straying too far into paranormal romance and going the way of BDB. There are few authors that I have found who can manage focusing on a different couple in each book in a way that keeps the Urban Fantasy folks and the Paranormal folks both fully satisfied. Keri Lake could easily be one of these authors, though, based on the strength of these first two books and the world she has started to build.

This book is darker than the first one and touches on topics that reminded me a bit of 50 Shades of Grey (which I ended up listening to someone read several chapters of on YouTube; never intended to read that series). The half point loss for me was for two things: less focus on continuing to build on the other characters and their relationships with each other in this book, and in the building of the relationship between Logan and Calla. I had some issues with really feeling the source of Logan's attraction in the early stages; somehow I didn't really comprehend the complexities of Calla's personality in the same way I did Logan's and I didn't really see why he would feel particularly interested in her based on her actions and personality. That said, the overall book was still excellent and I'm looking very forward to the next one!

So to summarize...still an awesome series! I encourage Keri to keep the recurring character interaction/relationships growing, as well as the world building and action fresh and alive. I think she has a great imaginative talent, and I hope the series retains the uniqueness I've found so refreshing!

Ahhhh Logan <3
I loved this book and thought it was a great addition to the Sons of Wrath series
This time around we have Logan and Calla as our main couple, the book had already been set up at the end of Soul Avenged when Calla - being of pure blood – was the only person who could save Logan from death after he saved her from being raped but had been stabbed with demortis in return - one of the only things that can kill a demon. We knew that something was happening between them, especially with Calla’s reaction to Logan’s predicament but did we think that Logan would go for it? Hells no! So we’re left with pure, virginal Calla pining after the cold and emotionless Logan…. But don’t think of Calla as a victim, she’s a fighter…. But will she fight for Logan when it seems like a losing battle? I love the combination of this pairing and I’m a sucker for tortured heroes who think themselves unworthy of anything clean and pure so how perfect is Calla to challenge Logan’s demons? Pretty much so because I love what she brought out in him, how he pushed her away in the beginning, trying to fight the way he was feeling toward her, not even totally understanding his feelings but absolutely sure they aren’t what they were, then when he thinks he just needs her intimately, thinking himself a bastard for doing so – right up until he would risk everything for her… he had built his barrier, guarded the heart he refused to believe he had ….and timid, shy Calla knocked it down at every chance she got, by just being her. I was totally sucked in!
The storyline was a perfect progression and I love the new threat brought into the mix, these books aren’t fluffy romance books book, they are gritty, raw, violent, sadistic and at times grotesque…… but flipping awesome! Plus when you add a bunch of seriously hot but f’d up men….. let’s just say the temperature will soar. You can feel the danger & tension which adds to the appeal because with warriors like ‘the Sons of Wrath’, your enemies are going to be formidable and believe me….they are. The whole gang will take some knocks in this, one moreso than the others but don’t even think that it will be easy for any of them, and you can really appreciate and anticipate the consequences that will follow this book. I will say that even though the romance aspect is a battle of wills between two people who consider themselves unworthy, it is the only sweetness that you will find in this story but is the most beautiful, heartwarming sweetness you could wish for and I got the feeling that all of the brothers felt this one. I said there will be consequences for book three, which is true for more than one person because there are not only new creatures to deal with but new enemies from unexpected places, a little more knowledge on the ‘human/alexi’ situation and still one enemy yet to re emerge as the brothers await their fates…. I can’t wait!
