Definitely join one so you can talk shop with others and get encouragement to do the work …moreThere are lots of supportive writing communities out there! Definitely join one so you can talk shop with others and get encouragement to do the work you want to do. Also, be aware that these communities are not typically where your alpha readers will be! If you don't have a crew of your own who can alpha-read your work, ask the community who reads their works.(less)
