Thank you so much for sharing that with me! I'm so glad you enjoyed the Heroines books! Not only am I planning on writing more Christian fiction, I am finishing up rewrites this month to my next novel, The Mark of the King! This one is set in French colonial New Orleans in the 1720s, and will release from Bethany House Publishers in January 2017. After this one, I have two more books contracted with Bethany. When those books are done, I plan to write more! (less)

Another one I really loved was Atlanta (Voices of the Civil War) by Time-Life Books. It contains lots of first-person accounts from both sides. If you're interested in Atlanta history outside of the Civil War, I can recommend The Swan House by Elizabeth Musser. It's a novel set in Atlanta in the 1960s.(less)

New Book Cover for Re-Release of Free to Lean

I have book news! But first, a smidge of background...

In 2017, my book Free to Lean: Making Peace with Your Lopsided Life released from Discovery House (now Our Daily Bread Ministries). This was the nonfiction book of my heart, the one in which I metaphorically link arms with you and we talk about what it means to live an unbalanced life. What a charming and captivating novella collection! I have long admired the work of Rachel Scott McDaniel, Allison Pittman, and Susie Finkbeiner. To have their writing all together in one book is a pure delight.

“All good writers write [terrible first drafts.] This is how they end up with good second drafts and terrific third drafts. . . I know some very great writers, writers you love who write beautifully and have made a great deal of money, and not one of them sits down routinely feeling wildly enthusiastic and confident. Not one of them writes elegant first drafts. All right, one of them does, but we do not like her very much. We do not think that she has a rich inner life or that God likes her or can even stand her. (Although when I mentioned this to my priest friend Tom, he said you can safely assume you've created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.”

“Young love is a flame; very pretty, often very hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. The love of the older and disciplined heart is as coals, deep burning, unquenchable.”
