“Max: Okay. One day a little boy is sitting on the floor of his living room, playing with some toy trucks. Voom!He shoots one across the carpet, but it goes too far, to the other side of the sofa. And then miraculously, it shoots right back. Surprised, the little boy peers around the sofa to find a girl around his age with a very attractive bowl cut, building a giant Lego castle. She asks him if he wants to play, before popping one of the Legos in her mouth, informing him that if he's hungry, they are made out of chocolate. And the boy had never felt happy in his whole life. They build the most incredible chocolate castle, with dragons and soldiers and moat made of milk. And then they fell asleep side by side. The boy wakes up in his living room, and even though there is no castle or no little girl, he still feels just as happy. And he knows he will see her again.

Max: Great. Because I've been dying to do this again all night.”

“Max: I don't know what to do. I've been walking around campus, wracking my brain, tyring to figure out what to do. Because I want to get better, realy. I know we have to get better. I know the dreams have to stop. But I also don't want to lose you.
I can't lose you, Alice.

“Max: Alice. How about we allow the elevator to move again, before you have a breakdown?
Alice: I'm sorry.
Max: It's okay. Let's just press the button ...
Alice: No, not about that. About what I said. About how I felt. I'm sorry that I made you feel like you weren't enough, Max, because you are. I was afraid. For my whole life, the dreams were all I had. They were the only thing that made me feel less alone. And you were part of that. And you got over it, you learned how to funtion, but I didn't. And I didn't understand that when I lost the dreams, I wouldn't lose you, too.”

“I know somewhere deep within my brain that when a woman finds herself on the receiving end of a gallant kiss, she should let herself just be kissed. Isn't that how it always works in movies? But I'm unable to play the part. Nothing can stop my hands from reaching up and tangling themselves in Max's hair, my arms from pulling me to him and him to me, closer than we already were. As though I've never been kissed before. As though I'm devouring him. As though we're the last two people left on the planet and kissing is the one thing that can keep us alive.”
Lucy Keating, Dreamology
“Max: [...] I just sort of wish that last night's dream balloon never came down to earth again:
Alice: Why? What happened on the balloon?

Alice: It's not just helpful, it's important. Crucial to research as a matter of fa-.
Alice: Sometimes when you kiss me, I become completley weightless.”
Lucy Keating, Dreamology
“Alice: Okay, great!
[...And max kisses me!...]
Max: I missed you.”

“Max: Getting in the elevator. Just to tell me how you felt. You are totally insane, Alice, and you do live in a dreamworld sometimes. You prefer things when they are stranger and prettier than everyday life. But that means you also make every moment of my life dreamier. More exciting and unexpected. When you are around, my life is always sparkly. And I don't want to change you. I don't want to run from it, either. I want to make you feel the way you make me feel. I want to make you happy.”
Lucy Keating, Dreamology
“Annabelle, I have always been with you.Even if it took me a little while to realize it. I've been in your garage. I've been on your stupid couch every chance I get. I've been in your kitchen every time I could convince your brother to let me stay for dinner. Do you think I do that for anyone else?”

“Max: I just mean, there was basically always a dream you, of course. But to think that only a few months ago you didn't really exist. You were just thsi person I looked forward to seeing every night and hated saying. good-bye to. You were my secret. My dream girl.
Alice: Say that last part again?
Max: I've said it a million times before. I should record it for you on your phone.

Max: Alice, I was kidding.”

“In my favorite dream of you and me, all we do is drive. Just open road. Sometimes we're in the desert, other times swerving around woody mountain ledges, this feeling of total wonder and excitement coursing through me.
