- Synopsis
- "A few years ago in Valencia I bought a bag for one euro at an informal evening auction. When I got home, when I opened it, I saw that inside there were many papers and, among them, two unsent letters dated 1946. In them, the author announces his imminent suicide as a consequence of the aftermath of the war, prison and the loss of loved ones. The letters, written in exquisite language, are signed with only his first name and in both, addressed to two friends, he says goodbye with the phrase "receive the last embrace". El último abrazo is an observational documentary in which we record the entire investigation that leads us from the discovery of the letters to discover who the author was and what led him to want to commit suicide and why the letters were together, in their envelopes, stamped and unmailed. Through the investigation we discover the bitter reality of a whole generation whose lives were radically cut short, who suffered war, exile and despair in the turbulent Europe of the mid-twentieth century."
