GET HYPED: Joker Killer Smile

By Taylor Pechter — The Joker is one of the most iconic villains, not only in comics, but in mass media overall. The Clown Prince of Crime has been terrorizing Gotham City for almost 80 years and shows no signs of stopping. With that much popularity and malleability in one character, writers have been able to leave their mark on him over the years.

GET HYPED: Dawn of X and the New X-Line

By Allison Senecal - So, you have a brave new world. Now what do you do with it? This is the question facing the X-Men at Marvel Comics. This summer, writer Jonathan Hickman and artists Pepe Larraz and R.B. Silva with colorist Marte Garcia basically overhauled the X-Men line with the 12-weeks straight mostly alternating mini-series, House of X and Powers of X, easily the biggest thing in superhero comics all year.

GET HYPED: Vita Ayala, Danny Lore, Eric Gasptur, and team take on James Bond 007

By Jarred A. Luján — It’s been just over a month since Dynamite announced the new creative team for the James Bond 007 comic series. While much has happened since then, I feel like we haven’t spent enough time looking at ourselves and asking: “What have we done to be blessed with such a creative team?”

GET HYPED: WildCats #1 looks like a madcap victory lap with killer art

By Zack Quaintance — I have been supremely hyped about the latest iteration of DC Comics’ WildStorm books, since I first read the Wild Storm #1, which (believe it or not) first came out back in February of 2017. That’s more than two years ago, and a lot has changed since then. That series has published all 24 of its issues, essentially wrapping up in a somewhat neat fashion.

GET HYPED: Why the Bad Weekend hardcover should be on every shelf

By Harry Kassen — Welcome to another iteration of Get Hype, where we talk about the books we’re excited to read and why we’re excited to read them. Those of you familiar with this feature might think my pick is a little bit of a cheat, given that I’ve already read it, but my excitement for the Criminal: Bad Weekend hardcover edition is through the roof, and there’s no way I’m not going to write about it.

GET HYPED: Greg Rucka and Mike Perkins’ Lois Lane

By Taylor Pechter — Lois Lane #1 by writer Greg Rucka and artist Mike Perkins is dropping in a couple short weeks (July 3!), and I could not be more excited. Not only is this the first solo series she has had since the Silver Age—granted, this one is in a more limited capacity being only a twelve-issue maxiseries compared to an ongoing—but this new book is being written by Greg Rucka. I have sung Rucka’s praises many a time on this site, whether for his work on mainstream projects like Wonder Woman or Checkmate, or for his indie projects like Lazarus or Queen and Country.
