Information icon Hello, I'm Pamzeis. I noticed that you recently removed content from Sofia Carson without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Information does not have to have individual articles

On the Skin Alley template, you recently hid everything, except for what had articles on, making the template inaccurate, and did not describe why it needed to be hidden. Not all info needs to have articles, if that were so, band templates would be infinitely smaller. Because of this, I have undone your edits to the template. --TheGreatestWikiEditorEver (talk) 18:32, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

@TheGreatestWikiEditorEver: Hi. A navigation box, such as the one you created for Skin Alley, is not intended to serve as a discography page. It is intended to aid navigation between related articles of the templated topic. Any band template you see otherwise has done it wrong. I recommend you read WP:NAVBOX and WP:NAV-WITHIN. Thank you. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 22:00, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

You recently placed a notability tag on Huasita Regalona. The sourcing was admittedly sparse at the time of tagging, but I've since beefed it up a bit. Let me know if it you still have concerns. Cheers. Cbl62 (talk) 07:24, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Escort (album). This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. --John B123 (talk) 18:45, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

That was only my second revert, and I added an additional source. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:48, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

All of Them Naturals

Yeah, sorry about that. It was a bit confusing for me too. You see, over here it says vinyl LP. Pitchfork, on the other hand, calls it "their second EP", and Colorado Daily completely screwed the lineup. Here is their quote: "Their previous album, 'All of them Naturals', is a slightly less classic punk influenced and slightly more off-kilter, but it remains a banger as well". So, which source should I trust when it comes to albums' type?--Filmomusico (talk) 16:51, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Help

Hello, Sometimes I have been unable to create the articles titled, "List of...", however I was able to create it was "Awards and...". If you found some way to thanks! I was trying to set them up, but for some reason it wouldn't let me. Looks like you found a way around that? Thank you. Also I know you prefer, "List of..." rather than "Awards and...", but I've noticed a lot of articles named "Awards and...", do you care to change them? This includes Awards and nominations received by Sarah Jessica Parker.

Also, I created an awards page for Riz Ahmed, but couldn't change it to "List of...". Can you please help? It's now Awards and nominations received by Riz Ahmed. Thanks! The One I Left (talk) 11:11, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

@The One I Left: Thank you for your reply. I did go through the entirety of Category:Lists of awards received by actor and thought I found all the misnamed ones. I guess I missed one. If you’re not being allowed to create a list at the correct name, it means the title already exists, most likely as a redirect to the actor’s page. Say you wanted to created List of awards and nominations received by Amy Poehler (and I’m not recommending you do), you’ll see a link at the top of the article which you can click. From there, you then can edit the page at the correct name instead of creating something at Awards and nominations received by Amy Poehler. Confused

I have been told, several times over the last couple of years, to add a music album's tracklisting to the artist's main article, when the album is not noteworthy enough for it's own article. I did this today on this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddy_Greene and it was all deleted except the album titles. I don't understand why, especially after that was what I was instructed to do and I believe I've read the same thing in some of the Wikipedia help articles on album creation as well. I do not agree that the album title is the only thing necessary. When I research an album or anything in an encyclopedia, I am much more interested in the tracklistings, along with songwriters and track lengths and other various information than simply the name of the album which I probably already know as that is probably what brought me to this article in the first place. Without the tracklistings, there's just a skeleton and no meat in this article. Can someone please advise me as to why 9/10s of this article (after I edited it) is deemed not necessary? Thanks.HowlinMadMan (talk) 23:51, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

@HowlinMadMan: Per WP:INDISCRIMINATE, information should be put in context with explanations referenced to independent sources. Merely being true and verifiable does not automatically make something suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Wikipedia articles should not be summary-only descriptions of works. Even with that said, WP:DONTHIDE says "Collapsible templates should not conceal article content by default upon page loading." There's no need to place WP:UNDUE weight on just the artist's discography with a full track listing for each album, especially when it's that many albums. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 00:38, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
"Album articles with little more than a track listing may be more appropriately merged into the artist's main article or discography article, space permitting." from Wikipedia:Notability (music)#Albums
Quite frankly, sometimes it appears that Wikipedia's "Notability" guidelines are more like a popularity contest. Especially when it comes to music albums. Popular is not always better.
I always thought of Wikipedia as a source of reliable information. If I research a topic and Wikipedia just gives me the bare basics, then I have to go somewhere else for what I need. If this is the case, then what good is Wikipedia to me? I'm not trying to offend, just making an observation. For instance, I visited at least 40 to 50 web pages to verify the track information that I included in this article along with several albums that I personally own. This was a lot of work that would save other interested parties a lot of time.
I don't get the hate on collapsible templates either. They just seem efficient when there's a lot of information available so that the page doesn't overwhelm the reader. I was really disappointed when Wikipedia did away with the collapsible tracklisting feature. They make the page look much better on initial viewing. I think readers are smart enough to click on the "hide" and "show" buttons.
It's out of my control and I know I'm not going to win this debate as I've been down this road before with you guys. I stopped submitting for more than a year because it's very frustrating to put all the work into something just to have someone wipe it out with a keystroke. I'm only a reader so what I want to see on a Wikipedia page might not matter, but it should. Time for another hiatus. Cheers.HowlinMadMan (talk) 11:15, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Just seen this (single album) discussion

Hi Starcheers Just seen Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Albums/Archive_58#"Single_Album". This was passed into law on 11 March 2019 on naming conventions. Was there in your view a strong consensus to make this the rule? In ictu oculi (talk) 09:45, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

I don't know if I would have ruled in the same way but I think that there is enough usage of the term that some kind of distinction was necessary. I'm OK with the outcome, I just want to see it applied consistently, which still may not be the case. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 16:22, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Terry Reid (album)

I noticed that you tagged this article for notability in October 2020. I have removed the tag because it does meet the notability guidelines. The album was on the Billboard 200 charts for five weeks in late 1969. I have added that information along with a citation to back it up. I am adding further information and available citations to enhance the article, but maybe not enough yet to remove it from the stub category. Frankzappatwin (talk) 00:03, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

I see that you made other changes as well. I was unaware of the name issue with Billboard 200, as I assumed that the name changed when they expanded to 200 in 1967. The web page that I referenced is still titled "Billboard 200". Thank you for fixing those external links. I saw them there (I wasn't the editor who added them), but I just wasn't sure how to handle them. The other fixes I may have caught when I reviewed the article today, I am a bit rusty as I backed off from editing after 2017. Frankzappatwin (talk) 15:26, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars,

Every time you tag a page for deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/CFD/TFD/etc.), you should post a notification on the talk page of the page creator so they know that a page they created has been proposed for deletion and why. I encourage you to use Twinkle because once you set up your Preferences to "Notify page creator", the program will post these notices for you which makes things very easy. Please notify page creators what is going on so they don't repeat any mistakes they may have made. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 22:13, 30 June 2021 (UTC)

Category:Songs covered by Tiny Tim has been nominated for deletion

Category:Songs covered by Tiny Tim has been nominated for deletion. A discussion is taking place to decide whether this proposal complies with the categorization guidelines. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the categories for discussion page. Thank you. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 17:42, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

My answer: This is so wrong! Tiny Tim has not written any songs. He's not a songwriter or composer, he's a singer and he covers songs. Therefore is Category:Songs covered by Tiny Tim correct than Category:Tiny Tim (musician) songs. The new category has also added more articles to it, more songs Tiny has covered through his career. Category:Songs covered by Tiny Tim should stay. Do not delete. --NRKfan (talk) 08:30, 13 July 2021 (UTC) Talk to me

@NRKfan: If Tiny Tim had written songs they’d be categorized under Category:Songs written by Tiny Tim (musician). If we categorized every song by who covered them, many songs would end up being in dozens of “songs covered by” categories. Anyway, I appreciate you reaching out, but the discussion for this is taking place at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2021 July 12#Category:Songs covered by Tiny Tim, not on my talk page. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 08:58, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Redirect

Hi there! I'd like to work with on the article for "Cry Just a Little." I received the following message: "Consider placing Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Cry Just a Little (E. G. Daily song) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Cry Just a Little. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Magdalamar (talk) 02:39, 19 July 2021 (UTC) on the talk page of the editor who performed the cut-and-paste move." That is actually a good idea, instead of us going back and forth with redirects, we should work together on merging the two articles, so they both appear under the heading of the song "Cry Just a Little." To clarify the song's history: "Cry Just A Little" was originally recorded by E.G. Daily on her 1989 Lace Around the Wound LP, and then in 1992, it was recorded again (covered) by Celine Dion appearing on the B-Side of her "Love Can Move Mountains" single. By doing working together, we can restore the title of the song to "Cry Just A Little"--which is it's actual copyright title. Thank you! Magdalamar (talk) 02:39, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

@Magdalamar: Hi. You worked on Cry Just a Little but it was then redirected. Instead of re-creating the article from the redirect, you created a new article at Cry Just a Little (E. G. Daily song). You shouldn't have done that. I have placed a {{histmerge}} tag on the redirect to combine the histories. I'm still not sure if the song passes the notability requirements of WP:NSONGS, but I'll let other determine its fate. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 03:22, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Hello again Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars! Combining the histories of "Cry Just a Little" into one article makes sense. A new article, titled "Cry Just a Little," would be the best way to inform readers about the song's origins and history, as in an encyclopedia. The reader would be apprised of the song's chronology, i.e. was originally recorded by E.G. Daily, and later covered by Celine Dion as a B-side on her hit single, the song appeared on product released by three major record labels A&M Records, Columbia and Epic, with reviews in the top industry trade magazines.Magdalamar (talk) 09:52, 19 July 2021 (UTC) I also want to acknowledge you stated that you're not sure regarding the song's notability standards, but you'll leave that for others to determine, which I believe is a measured and wise determination.Magdalamar (talk) 09:56, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

The whole move is just so unnecessary. It seems to favour the song by E.G. Daily subjectively according to the preference of the editor colleague Magdalamar, whereas there are also the songs "Cry (Just a Little)" by the Bingo Players and "Letting Go (Cry Just a Little)" by Mr. Worldwide. It is much better that the Cry Just a Little (E. G. Daily song) remains where it is and the main Cry Just a Little is a disambiguation page. In the see also of the disambig page, we could also include world famous Shakin' Stevens hit "Cry Just a Little Bit" for similarity of title. Many readers know know the song as Cry Just a Little actually without the "bit" part. The song preferred now isn't even a single with chart positions, but just an album track... and the album it is taken called Lace Around the Wound is equally an insignificant with no chart success. One single from the album "Some people" reached #33 on the specialized U.S. Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs Chart and not on the Billboard Hot 100... whereas the Bingo Players and Shakin' Stevens are multi-charting songs across the world. I feel teh redirect should be reversed and the E. G. Daily song is classified as "Cry Just a Little (E. G. Daily song)". werldwayd (talk) 23:37, 21 July 2021 (UTC) werldwayd (talk) 23:46, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
Temporarily for now, I have created Cry Just a Little (disambiguation) in the hope you are favourable of reversing the move for E. G. Daily song and making Cry Just a Little as a disambiguation page. werldwayd (talk) 00:08, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
Two articles were created for the same song so their histories needed to be merged. What happens after that, I don’t really care. Cheers. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 02:36, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

With a bullet.

Hey there! I saw you added a question of notability tag in the article With a Bullet, and I was hoping we could clear that up. My take on it is that because it is a somewhat historic and interesting LP (based on the fact that it aided funds to end handgun violence after the murder of Lennon) it is worth noting. I also believe that it is worth notability because several legitimate articles have been made on it, which fits into the following clause: "Songs and singles are probably notable if they have been the subject of multiple, non-trivial published works whose sources are independent of the artist and label." Thanks, and if you still feel differently, please tell me your take on it! Agent101232 (talk) 21:36, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

@Agent101232: Discogs and IMDB are not considered reliable sources in establishing notability, and popsike probably isn't either. The entire "reception" section has to go because the reviews aren't by professional reviewers. The first statement, "The record saw mixed reception from those who purchased it", is completely unproveable. And you're actually quoting a "collector of the album"? That's not significant coverage by legitimate sources. The topic may be notable but the article needs much work to show it. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 22:54, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
  • Nilssonvinyl.com just provides images of the album cover and disc, so that would not be considered independent, and the audiofemme.com article, despite the title, doesn't directly mention the song at all. I'll see what you can do over the next couple of weeks to improve the article before deciding whether to bring this to a larger forum. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 23:04, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

Alright thank you for clearing that up. It is going to be difficult to replace the current sources with ones that are considered reliable so would you be able to help with that? If not, fair enough, I'll see what I can do. I have just deleted the Reception category per your request, so please note that I will take any steps necessary to ensure deletion is not needed and am prepared to fully cooperate with your needs and wishes considering the article. Thank you. Agent101232 (talk) 02:20, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

Message regarding songs infobox

Okay thank you for letting me know my mistake on talkpage, I'll make sure to look into it. But I did that right you know for exmaple as people here do, song = title 1 songs = title 1

instead of that people do song = title 1 songs = title 1

Much better? it's used everywhere, so if you look at my that edit for my other view, readers won't see it and editors would come to read/correct things, if my edit was there they could very easily spot any writer/producer mistake and correct it or even add something easily. Newly created category

Hi – just wondered what you thought of this newly created category... is this a defining characteristic of the song? Certainly not when the song was originally released, only with the benefit of hindsight. And apparently Tears for Fears are blessed with two signature songs, not just one. Richard3120 (talk) 18:40, 16 September 2021 (UTC)

I don't think it is. The list might be fine but it's not defining. The category was deleted at CfD in 2008. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:50, 16 September 2021 (UTC)

A Woman

Why deleted album categories?? Biandiamond (talk) 21:19, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

@Biandiamond: Because Category:Qveen Herby albums is already categorized under those same album categories, making those grandparent categories for A Woman (Qveen Herby album). I have no idea why the album is being sorted by "Herby" instead of "Woman", either. That makes no sense at all. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 21:22, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

Was it deleted because of the name of the album? Biandiamond (talk) 21:25, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

@Biandiamond: No. They were removed because Category:Qveen Herby albums is already categorized under those same album categories. Do you not understand? Please let me revert the article back to what is correct. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 21:29, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

Categorization does not harm the page. Biandiamond (talk) 21:33, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

There is already a category according to the type of the album. Biandiamond (talk) 21:33, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

And you persistently try to erase it Biandiamond (talk) 21:34, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

@Biandiamond: You don't seem to understand how categories work. Because Category:Qveen Herby albums is categorized under Category:Hip hop albums by American artists and Category:Contemporary R&B albums by American artists that means every article in Category:Qveen Herby albums is already categorized under both the hip hop and contemporary R&B categories by default. So the individual articles don't have to be categorized specifically. This is what WP:CATSPECIFIC says. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 21:43, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars,

It helps admins patrolling CSD categories if, when you move an article from main space to Draft space, you tag the original page for speedy deletion, CSD R2. Using Twinkle makes deletion tagging very quick and easy. Thanks very much. Liz Read! Talk! 01:55, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, Liz. There are patrollers who take care of those deletions, too, and I don’t usually move too many pages to draft space, so I like to let them handle that work. Thanks for the tip, though. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 04:05, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

Hey, is it a weird coincidence that you were removing the links from Sweetbox discography basically in real-time as I was redirecting those articles or was there something else going on? In any case, while it's obviously appreciated, it's probably not the most efficient way, as I always make sure to remove them myself afterwards, in one edit :) Lennart97 (talk) 17:08, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

I was assessing articles listed at Category:Unassessed Album articles and one of the albums popped up at the top of the list upon your reassessment to redirect (sometimes there's a little lag as to why it didn't end up immediately in Category:Redirect-Class Album articles), so I noticed the redirected links on the discography page not knowing you were working on it at the same time. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Hello, is there a script or bot that can change the talk pages [as mentioned on my talk page]? Sikonmina (talk) 10:54, 13 December 2021 (UTC)

@Sikonmina:. There is a tool that will allow you to change it a little more quickly from the article. The instructions can be found at User:Evad37/rater. You just need to add {{tls|lusc|User:Evad37/rater.js}} to Special:MyPage/common.js. Copy the text, edit your common.js page, and paste the text at the bottom of that page. You will then have "Rater" option on the "More" drop-down menu in which you can clear the assigned assessment. I recommend changing class to "no class" and importance to "no importance" and not selecting "redirect" class as a blank assessment will automatically adjust to redirect. Thanks. I don't understand why you put a notability tag on this. It charted on the Billboard 200. Danaphile (talk) 21:44, 14 December 2021 (UTC)

@Danaphile: Charting in and of itself does not make an album notable. It still must receive actual coverage from independent reliable sources where it is talked about and not just part of list. I can't find that type of coverage anywhere. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 21:58, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
My confusion stems from remembering how several Williams song pages were created some years ago that were pretty much just a few sentences of chart statistics for text and nothing else. Seeing your flag on notability, I figured that the editor who created them must have been inexperienced and thought I'd pull one up to see who it was. The one I happened to click on was "Don't You Believe It", and when I clicked on View History, your edit on the page from June of this year came up at the top of the list. The page has no notability issues documented even though it only has citations from MusicVF.com and Discogs, which are only sites that list information but do not talk about the music. You even moved the Discogs citation but made no mention of this idea that chart statistics were not sufficient. There's no mention in the guidelines that a release has to place high enough on such a chart in order to qualify, so I'm not clear what the difference is. Because sometimes I just edit articles that need some clean up and sometimes, especially newer articles, I look at the sources a little more closely and tag articles accordingly. New articles will have the tendency to be looked at more often by patrollers who may have more information on the subject than I do and provide such needed sources or they may agree with me that notability has not been established, which could result in the article being redirected or nominated for deletion. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 05:35, 15 December 2021 (UTC)

Thanks!

Hey, thanks for cleaning up my mistakes. I haven't done any album articles since 2015. I take it with respect to notability I just work backwards until the sources aren't adequate and just quit there? Skyerise (talk) 21:27, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
