Thanks. I don't mind. I'm got User:The Hybrid doing copyediting for me about punctuation. That isn't my best subject. But nice to know it is near GA status. PR experiment

[edit]

Dear Nikki311, I'm writing in hopes of enlisting your aid in a four-month experiment at Peer Review (PR). The success of the experiment will depend on finding at least 10 editors willing to review at least one article a week through the end of October 2008. The experiment will employ a streamlined review process designed to insure that every nominator who seeks a review gets one and that reviewers do not waste time doing long reviews for nominators who do not respond to an initial short review.

The way it works is this: (1) Choose any article at Peer Review that lacks a review. Wikipedia:Peer reviews by date, especially the backlog list, is still a good place to find such articles. (2) Provide a short partial review based on your initial observations and wait to see if the nominator responds. Examples of short reviews can be found at Wikipedia:Peer review/Foreign relations of India/archive1 and Wikipedia:Peer review/Ed Stelmach/archive1. (3) If the nominator does not respond, the review is done. (4) If the nominator responds, continue the review as you see fit.

The experiment will require no noticeable administration. However, if you plan to participate, it would be helpful if you posted a brief note to Wikipedia talk:Peer review to that effect.

At the end of October, we can see how the experiment turned out and whether this process or some modification of it could sustain Peer Review permanently with minimal backlogs. If you can help, that would be great. If not, that's perfectly OK. We are all tremendously busy with a lot of different projects.

I have chosen to write to you in part because you've done peer reviews from the backlog during the past four months. Please forgive the form-letter nature of this note, which is more efficient than a personal note. With respect and thanks for your hard work on many projects, Finetooth (talk) 05:36, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, and I've seen the thread, but I was under the understanding that it was not mandatory anymore, not that it is now against policy. I really disagree with that new policy, because I am so used to linking the dates. Also, those sentences were basically just a way to move from the start of the match to the end of the match, but they really annoyed me, and if you hadn't removed them, I probably would have. Thanks, Nikki! -- iMatthew T.C. 12:00, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nikki, I am fundamentally disagreeing with your assessment that every sentence in a wrestling article has to describe it as "scripted" (passing over the insulting and inaccurate nature of statements that it is "fake"). I will not change your latest version about that on Stacy Carter but if your truly hold the above belief I wish you luck when trying to make all the other wrestling articles conform to it. Cy Young GA review addressed

[edit]

I finally found a computer, and I finished the Cy Young GA review requests I believe. For the citation needed tags, I replaced with references. Some, like the ones in the legacy section, have one reference for many sentences. That's because I checked that every sentence is verified with the reference, meaning the paragraph is sourced from the reference. As for the copyediting, I wasn't able to help in that, but I believe other users helped with that and fixed the errors. Cheers.--LAAFan 16:38, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Winnona Park Elementary

[edit]

Hi, would it be possible to re-create the Winnona Park Elementary page? I'm can spend some time collecting the right information to ensure it is 'notable'. I understand the argument around notability, but it seems a little agressive to delete a school just because there are lots of other ones in the country. In fact it's interesting that this seems to happen to US schools more than it does to international ones (I'm originally from the UK) - and I'm guessing it's because people don't check on those so frequently.

Could you give me some advice on what would pass the notability criteria? Thanks. Chrisu87 (talk) 03:34, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Much More Careful From Now On

[edit]

Sorry! Thanks for the guidance; I'll be much more careful from now on! <:)

Since you actually know what you're talking about, can I ask a few questions? When one promotes an article to GA status and puts it on WP:GA, do you have to update the number of GAs in a category and/or the total number of GAs? There was no instruction on the GAC page, so I just assumed that a bot did it, but I just want to make sure.

Thanks. Intothewoods29 (talk) 01:35, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How do you see HBK's article now? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 02:46, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I think we should try to add the new out-of-universe style to the article, since no one has "criticized" how SS'03 looks. Yeah, it wouldn't be that hard to explain the moves, since clicking on the links and you have the info. explained. Yeah, I was talking to SRX about adding the "real names" to the article and yeah overlinking the names will have to be fixed. Yeah, I was gonna ask you about that, since there's nothing really mentioned of the MSG incident. Also, how does the FUR look for the MSG image? Alright, I'll try to explain the whole thing about the ring names, like tomorrow. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 03:07, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cy Young GA Review addressed (Round 2)

[edit]

I have addressed all of your concerns for round two of the GA review. Cheers.--LAAFan 01:40, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I recently signed up to help with the GA sweeps project. I noticed that the editor who was reviewing this article has left the sweeps project but that the review has been on hold since January. He has informed me that he will not be continuing with the sweeps and that I can take over for this article.

Since the only concern remaining was a dead link, I am inclined to pass the article. I wanted to ask you, though, if you thought it would be possible/acceptable to provide a link to a copy of the article at http://www.forever-ashley.com/news/index.php?news=275. I haven't looked at the site, but I'm assuming that it's not reliable. Is there a way to cite the Miami Herald and possibly include this link somewhere in the reference, or should the article remain as it is? GaryColemanFan (talk) 19:43, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I closed the reassessment as a "keep". Thanks for your help with wrapping it up. I've been enjoying participating in the GA sweeps, and I'm sure you'd do a great job if you're interested. It's a really worthwhile project, as it helps keep the quality of GAs at a reasonable level. I considered joining for a while because the categories are so large and I didn't know about committing to ~40 articles. I took a small one this time, but I'm wondering if the organizers would be okay with two or more editors splitting a category. GaryColemanFan (talk) 00:16, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to bother you (again)

But could you copyedit Bad Blood (2003)? Thanks so much.--SRX 02:15, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. Done and added some suggestions to the talk page. Nikki311 19:25, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much, I can always count on you! I also responded to the suggestions you made on the talk page.--SRX 13:12, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jericho

[edit]

You may not think it is appropriate, but guess what, I do and so does Chris! The reason he left the WWE was to concentrate on his band and his film work. He traveled to London, England to film for Bloodstained Memoirs and tour with Fozzy. Why you only want to mention the band, I don't know? And you don't even try to give any reasoning? But it doesn't matter, Chris pushed hard for his movie work (Bloodstained Memoirs) and Music work (Fozzy) to be recognised (via his book, his site, his IMDB) etc therefore it should be recognised here. Your own personal opinions should not and will not come into it. Arthur Cutz (talk) 22:25, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rob Van Dam

[edit]

The exact same thing with Rob Van Dam. Wikipedia is not for little WWE fans. His history doesn't end when he left WWE OK. He left WWE, and the very next day he signed up for a major movie. THis goes in the lead. The main reason he left was to do RVDTV - this goes in the lead. You need to be less of a WWE fan and be more objective in your edits. I will be keeping an eye on these pages. Arthur Cutz (talk) 22:30, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I feel I need to step in here. Nikki, I went through a very tiresome deletion review over something very similar, and I won. If this were to go through a deletion review, I would win again as the facts are on my side. It is very clear you are a huge WWE fan, as I can tell by your user page. But as Arthur said, you have to be more objective. Think for a moment, if you put in the leaed that Jericho ad RVD are well known for being a part of the makor WWE, then surly them leaving and signing up to an indpendent company is major news? The news sites that picked up on the story certainly think so. The fact the the BM company has WWE, TNA, AJPW talent is a major deal. The fact that the BBC produces it is a major deal. I could go on and on, much like I did in my deletion review - where it will be judged by people who are not wrestling fans - i.e. the most objective poeple. Toy Story 3 isn't released yet, yet the film is mentioned in the cast and crew leads there... There is a certainly a very "WWE" approach to your editing, in the sense that you like to wait 'till things happen, unfortunatly the world isn't as scripted as WWE. I don't wish to fall out with you over this as Ican tell you are a commited poster, but in my experience I feel I should state you are off the mark here and the pages are better off left as they are with the BM mentions.
