Jonathan Perez is a writer, instructor, and diversity-coordinator whose work on race and ethnicity is at the crossroads of literary and social analysis. Driven by his experience, he has contributed work studies of identity and form, diaspora and aesthetics, with a particular interest in contemporary culture.

He has an M.A. degree from the University of Virginia in English Literature, a B.A. from Bowdoin College and is currently a Ph.D. student at Rutgers University. He has presented research at the American Comparative Literature Association (ACLA) on The Aesthetics of Black Radicalism, The Futures of American Studies on African American Revisions in Nella Larsen's Quicksand, and will present this year at Harvard University on Cuban-African Literary connections.

He actively works with private schools to enhance diversity in the curriculum and develop and coordinate systems of study that combine English and History.
