Biography[]

Ian and Terry are brothers who live in south London. They were raised by a weak-willed father who runs a restaurant with mediocre success and a strong mother. His maternal uncle, Howard, is a successful, internationally active businessman who always helps out his poor relatives. Ian and Terry are struggling with financial problems and Terry is trying his luck at the dog track and poker games. Together they buy a sailboat, which Terry finances by making a profit at the dog racetrack. They call the boat Cassandra's dream after the successful greyhound. Ian meets the woman of his dreams: Angela, a beautiful actress who has high standards for life. To impress her, Ian tricks her into believing she's a successful businessman. Terry loses huge sums of money at poker and is in the chalk with criminal money collectors.

When visiting their rich Uncle Howard, they ask him for help, whereupon he instructs them to eliminate Martin Burns, a business partner who wants to expose Uncle Howard's unlawful business practices. The brothers are shocked at first, but soon agree, mainly through Ian's initiative, believing they have no other choice. Terry has to pay off his debts, while Ian needs start-up capital to start his own business and wants to impress his girlfriend. By coincidence, they meet the future murder victim at a party, which makes it impossible for Terry to carry out the plan. However, he is harassed by Ian, who has no remorse whatsoever, and finally they kill Burns with homemade guns. These are then burned and there is no trace of the victim to them. Terry can't cope with the fact that he murdered a human being. He is plagued by remorse of conscience, he drinks, is depressed and finally wants to turn himself in. He reveals this to his brother Ian, who then makes the decision with his uncle to kill Terry. He wants to carry out the murder of his brother under the pretext of wanting to go on a relaxing sailing trip with him.

However, he is plagued by doubts the moment he fills a cocktail of tablets into a beer bottle, and he throws the bottle against the hatch, which then breaks. He angrily pounces on Terry. Terry pushes Ian unhappily and he falls backwards onto a table, breaking his neck. Terry then kills himself. This is not shown in the film. Rather, the police report that he drowned himself. Meanwhile, the two friends of the two brothers are shopping and looking forward to seeing their partners again. Angela had recently explained to Ian that she had turned down a weekend trip with a rich man because she realized that she really loved Ian. The last shot shows Cassandra's Dream lying quietly and unscathed in the harbor.
